Question about a trade?

I asked the same question here some months ago and was told that 3rd gen shimmerkins are worth nothing, only 2nd gens can be traded for decent things.

 

However, a collector saw my post and I got a nice trade for it. I don't actually remember what it was exactly, but it was about the value of a couple of uncommon hatchies or something I really needed for a lineage.

 

I think value also depends on the breed of the shimmerkin, mine was a bluesang. A more common breed might be worth less, even if it has a shimmer parent.

It also depends on the lineage. Third gen stairstep really isn't that hard to come by. Third gen checker? Well, that would be worth something for a lot of lineage collectors. And then you have to take into account that most of them can't pay high prices for it.

Go to breeding, gifting. 2gs, I got plenty of them gifted there.

Out of three recent trades I offered on, two people accepted a CB Copper. For a 3G Gold Tinsel, I traded a CB Brown Copper and CB Green Opal. For a 3G Silver Tinsel I traded a CB Green Copper. Both were stair lineages, if that makes any difference. I guess it really depends on the person, and how rare the line is. I've got no idea on how rare the 3G lines I traded for are, but I am happy with the trade and I hope the other party was too.

No chance for a Cooper there, nor Opal. The thing is, lineage uses three breeds. People that can continue it in orderly manner probably don't need a lineage like that (except for freezing). And as far as newer players go, chances are that they probably don't have terraes at hand and they can't continue the lineage.. I guess you could point out that you'd be willing to take an IOU.

This thread is really for asking what kind of trades are reasonable, not for finding a trade. If you're looking to actually do a trade with someone rather than ask about current market worth, etc. then this forum will be better for you.

 

As far as golds go, if you're not interested in lineages, then it won't be hard to get your hands on one. A lot of people give away or are willing to breed long lineaged/messy metallics for free if people ask nicely. If you want a CB or something with a nice lineage, then it's a different story, of course.

There is a thread in the Trading forums where you can get golds under the Golden Gifting Group. Simply fill out a form and you should get one soon.

What's the deal with Autumns? I see them sitting in the forest, and I abandon plenty of them when catching Opals, but people are trying to trade them for 2nd gen metals and similar stuff. Did I miss something or are they really that valuable?

I get that, but seasonals went for the same price last year when they really were hard to find. The value never dropped despite the fact that they are much more common.

 

I'd maybe trade a couple of blocker hatchlings for that tinsel.

They're more valuable near the time of their seasonal release. It's most likely because they usually get snipped very quickly at this time and people have hard time getting one and offer quite a bit for them. However, near the end of that season change they drop in value and if you wait long enough you can just wait to either trade for one or hunt for one (which right now isn't very hard as I find more in the AP with each passing day). But as right now I do not value them for 2g Metals or CB Trios.

Not very much at all, it's 6g so it's pretty long, and it's not perfectly 6g. Look at the top parent it's a 4g mixed with a 5g. Also it's not stairstep or spiral which most people perfer (though more prefer spiral). Even a 5g wouldn't be much. :s It's the 2g and 3gs that are worth LOTs.

From the release I noticed people already had their limits set up on Blue Opals. It's most likely because people didn't want to go and hunt in forest/jungle. Anyways, I would probably try and ask for a CB Red/Tan Ridgewing for it and see if that'd work. I wouldn't expect a CB Trio for it.

 

As for the Thunder I don't believe many people do that lineage which makes it hard to trade off. I never really breed a lineage (excluding prize dragons) and expect something very rare unless it's very special dragons. I only breed lineages and expect bloodswaps. You could try and ask for some amount of random hatchlings (cb if you prefer).

As for the thunder, you could get an even gen common with alts but don't expect to get cb rares. People doing even gens, while that lineage is hard to pull off, can breed it with a similar color scheme. You might even get a long but pretty tinsel, from my experience breeders don't mind trading away valuable offsprings for even gens that they need/like and it is unusual.

 

Also, sorry for the multiple questions, but would an even tinsel offspring from this http://dragcave.net/lineage/oADD0 be more rare than one from this http://dragcave.net/lineage/vzYEK and more rare than one with this lineage http://dragcave.net/lineage/Z0Mkh ?

Honestly, I think you got really lucky with that trade then for two chickens.

 

Also Sarah, I think you're best one to get the most out of is: http://dragcave.net/lineage/vzYEK Clean, EG, but long. The others have a few problems to address.

vzYEK is probably going to be worth the most. As Saynna stated, deadlines have limited value even if they look nice.

As of now they still are worth a CB Metallic so people will generally keep asking for one. I myself hunt trading threads regularly and snipe the good deals. One time a person asked for people to PM them an amount of Unbreedables they'd trade for one CB Copper (I had an option of either red or orange and I chose red) and I PM'd 4. They accepted it and now they're pretty much accepting 4 unbreedables for it. =o

I had another trade where I got 3 CB Coppers for a 4g Gold Shimmer (That was a pretty lucky trade, I offered a few more CB BSAs in return for the trade even though it wasn't asked for). I also know someone here was trying to trade 2-3 sets of CB Trios (so 6-9 eggs/hatchie combination) for a single Copper and didn't have much luck until a week or two of searching. o-o;

 

I'd suggest you'd try for 3-4 Chickens (I feel chickens are worth the most to people out of all the unbreedables, I'm a Cheese guy myself) and see if anyone is interested.

 

As for CB Vines and CB Blacks... I've noticed on this thread people say the same thing as you. I'm not a very old DC member so I have no clue what you guys are talking about lol. Personally I've seen both CB Blacks and Vines just sit there for an enmourous amount of time so I don't really feel they are worth much now. I've done a little strategy with them where I get as much before the new release and hatch em and use them as trade fodder for new Releases at a 1:1 ratio and it generally works pretty well.
