Recommended Posts

YAY my two golds FINALLY grew up! ;;w;; I have to wait until tomorrow for the other two to grow up. >^> And the same with my two bronzes since my Reds are all tapped out. ;;^;; But at least I can bask in the magnificence of my two adult golds. -W-~~~ SO PURTIFUL >W<~

I hope the silvers or blues start dropping tomorrow o-o That way I can have open spaces for them and to nab up as MANY as I can stuff down my egg slot limits! >^>~~

I'm debating if I should biome swap..but I really only care about biomes if it determines the color or sub species lol since these guys are found in all three and are the same until the moons change I really don't see a personal reason why the biomes matter (and I only have 1 male and 1 female pink left)

Flood my pretties flood!

Interesting - just noticed the Moons are now in two different phases:

Aurax (Golden moon) Waning crescent

Cirion (Blue moon) Waxing crescent

Though it seems that it is only Bronze eggs that are still dropping (found that out when I click on a few hoping for a different color and got Bronze again)

Can't help but wonder if the egg only changes when both moons are the same stage (Ex. both waxing crescent)...Has anything more been found out on this?

Sorry. O^O Probably best for everyone that the silvers/blues don't flood until everybody's bronzes from tonight got a chance to hatch [like in 3 days time]. Which would make it a total of a week from the change from gold into bronze so that works. :3

Weekly moon changes like that would be awesome and much more manageable and make it last a month like the regular moon we have here on Earth. :3

Caught my six. Misclicked a falconiform. No harm in keeping in, even if I would have preferred the thunder I saw or a xeno. xP

TJ mentioned a bit further back that the moon phases that the site was displaying were wrong and posted updated correct versions. The moon phases changed twice since the bronze started dropping sooo it could be anyone's guess at this point.

That was a wail of mock-despair, not yelling at you tongue.gif

A week from flood to flood is ideal - time to catch a batch, hatch them, and go through or most of the way through a second set in time to have spaces opening for the new color.

Although we're all going to be checking in as often as possible since we don't have any idea when it will change.

I sincerely hope that the Fates (TJ in this case) wouldn't be so cruel as to finally release a flood of the Bronzes to immediately turn around and release the Blue or Silver variations. If he did, the Bronze flood would then be pointless... It took me forever to catch my 7 so they hatch over the next 2 days. I'd like to hope it will be Saturday night before the next batch releases.

I had more miss-clicks with this release than ever (and I do mean ever)... but when I finally got the Bronzes - it was really satisfying - like YES! That said - I wouldn't want to have that stress at every release.

LadyL - these are beautiful and every time I settle on a favorite, I end up liking another variation even more!. Also, I love the back story and although I get why they aren't, I do wish they were more trusting. Seriously - rodent eating, ethereal, magical dust-radiating dragons would be a welcome addition to my household! I have enough squirrels in my neighborhood to keep a small family group happy for years! smile.gif

Edited for grammar. Ugh! unsure.gif

Ah good to know! tongue.gif

Yeah week-to-week is the best! :3 <3 Would make the most sense with our lunar changes too here on Eart!

I notice Aurax is pretty slow to change while Ciron is very quick to change. Aurax seems to be the dominant in the determining when colors also change so I keep looking to see if it became a waXing crescent now, instead of a waNing crescent. smile.gif

Ocean Secrets, (or anyone else who didn't see this and is confused now about the current moon phases) TJ posted earlier that he had to fix a mistake on the time page. I hope this makes the moon phases more clear to you.

Heads up: The help page was displaying the wrong moon phase for Cirion (it was actually just displaying Aurax's phase for both). The actual egg colors are correct.

Since that screws up everyone's data collecting, here's the phases for the days since the release:

Aug 29, 2015

Aurax: Waning gibbous

Cirion: Waning crescent

Aug 30, 2015

Aurax: Waning gibbous

Cirion: Waning crescent

Aug 31, 2015

Aurax: Waning gibbous

Cirion: Waning crescent

Sep 01, 2015

Aurax: Waning gibbous

Cirion: Waning crescent

Sep 02, 2015

Aurax: Waning crescent

Cirion: New

Sep 03, 2015

Aurax: Waning crescent

Cirion: Waxing crescent

Ah. I did miss that. Thanks much! (And again, for anyone else who missed it.)

The flood is still occurring! Bronzes Ahoy!

- Added more info I forgot to add.

- As always, please tell me if I forgot anything.

- Edit: Formatting and colors to help distinguish phases. And Typos.

A CURRENT SUMMARY OF WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT THE MOON AND EGGS:

(For everybody who was late to the party and/or wants updates)

-------

- We have Beautiful pseudo-six-winged Adults!! And a name, Lunar Heralds!

- Currently, Aurax (Gold Moon), and Cirion (Blue Moon) are now in the  WaNing Crescent and WaXing Crescent phases respectively.

- Everyone is now catching Bronze eggs in the Cave!

- We have Adults now, and we are getting Bronze eggs!

- The eggs are found in the Alpine, Desert, and Volcano Biomes. (Think places where the sky is easily seen.)

- Info on the current moon phase can be accessed from the Time page, which you can get to by clicking the clock in the top right hand corner of the new Standard DC skin, by going to the Help page and clicking Time Reference link, by going to the first page in this thread and clicking the link in the banner, OR by clicking the 3 above links embedded in this post.

- As of Sept 3, 2015 at 6:00 PM, Bronze eggs began dropping en mass! Grab 'em while you can!

- No one had been tracking the moons until now, so we have no idea how quickly they change. So, we cannot accurately predict what eggs will come when.

- That means no one knows how to get the other egg colors until the other moon phases come and the lunar cycle completes itself.

- There is a possibility that the release started in the middle of the Waning Gibbous phase for Aurax and Waning Crescent phase for Cirion.

- IMPORTANT: All data before 09/03/13, 1:56 PM was incorrect as the time page was showing Aurax's phase for BOTH moons. TJ has provided a corrected cycle in his post.

- This does NOT affect the information gathered on the eggs, just the moon phases the eggs were caught/bred under.

- The cycle has progressed, and so far we know: (Taken and modified from TJ's post)

Aug 29, 2015 @ 12:00 AM EST/DragonCave (DC) to Sep 01, 2015 @ 7:59 PM EST/DC.

Aurax: Waning Gibbous

Cirion: Waning Crescent

CB Lunar eggs are  Gold.

Sep 01, 2015 starting 8:00 PM EST/DC

Aurax: Waning Crescent*

Cirion: New*

CB Lunar eggs change from Gold to Bronze.

- The Gold egg drop lasted about 3 days and 17 hours.

* = TJ's post doesn't mention a phase change at the same time the new color drops, but we know the color change happened here. So, we assume the phase changed happened here too.

Sep 02, 2015 @ 12:00 AM EST/DC

Aurax: Waning Crescent

Cirion: New

CB Lunar eggs are Bronze.

Sep 03, 2015 @ 12:00 AM EST/DC

Aurax: Waning crescent**

Cirion: Waxing crescent**

CB Lunar eggs are  Bronze and Bred Lunar eggs are  Bronze.

** Exact time of change Unknown.

[Edited by Shokomon]

- Note: The Moon Phases TJ posted were Phases of the moon at 12:00 AM EST of their respective date. That is why the post doesn't match up with the color change.

- We can assume that on Sept 1, 2015, the phases changed at 8:00 PM EST/DC, where Aurax shifted Waning Gibbous to Waning Cresent, and Cirion from Waning Cresent to New Moon.

- There are many theories on how the eggs will come and when, including, but not limited to:

  • 1) Certain eggs being available during different phases of the moons in general, under the assumption that the moons are in synch, and will share the same moon phases.

2) Certain eggs being avaliable relative to the different phases of each moon (assuming the moons are NOT in synch) and overlap between both moons' phases.

3) One moon's phases controlling cave-born colors and the other moon's phases controlling bred colors.

4) Certain Lunar eggs colors are linked to Aurax, and the other colors are linked to Cirion.

5) Gold is the CB color, and the others could be Bred colors.

- Exactly which moon phase produces what eggs, which moon controls breeding and caveborn colors, and which colors are associated with which moon are up for debate.

- The Lunar Heralds' description has given some support to Theories 1, 2, and 5.

- The newest phase change and eggs seems to support Theory 2.

- There are also theories about the DC lunar cycle itself, including, but not limited to:

  • 1) The Moons are in synch and share phases.

2) The Moons are NOT in synch, and occasionally have overlapping phases.

3) The DC Lunar cycle is equivalent to Earth's Lunar cycle, and the current phase will change in at  most a week.

- And there more theories on the size of the moons, their relative speeds, their distance from Valkemare, and the list goes on.

- As of the most recent change, the moons' phases are not in synch͵ supporting Theory 2.

- LadyLyzar will tells us more about the dragons, once we start getting adults.

- TJ stated that the orbits of Valkemare's moons are close to circular, and the centre of mass would be close to the planet as it is much larger in size.

--- (Sorry for the confusion here! I completely misinterpreted what TJ posted. Thank you pinkgothic for making a much more accurate summary statement.)

- LadyLyzar seems to hint that the Lunar Heralds may have been initially intended to be prize dragons, and later states that they were made at the same time as the Shimmers.

- LadyLyzar confirms that the 2nd and 3rd set of wings are in fact illusions. Only the top ones are real and that it is not motion illusion.

- LadyLyzar has given us information on the Adults!

- The description for the Lunar Heralds has been updated from this:

Lunar Heralds are deeply attuned to the two moons of Valkemare, Aurax and Cirion. Strictly nocturnal, they draw energy from moonlight and will only hunt when the moons have waned. When breeding, the amount of moonlight the parents receive from each moon will determine the color of the egg produced.

- To this:

Lunar Heralds are deeply attuned to the two moons of Valkemare, Aurax and Cirion. Strictly nocturnal, they draw energy from moonlight and will only hunt when the moons have waned. When breeding, the amount of moonlight the parents receive from each moon will determine the color of the egg produced. When a Lunar Herald is struck by direct moonlight, an illusion of multiple wings may appear. Witnessing a Lunar Herald’s illusory wings is commonly believed to be a sign of good fortune.

Well, shoot. Someone had the exact same name idea for their Lunar Herald that I did.

*Goes off to brainstorm alternative names*

I found them easier to catch in the Volcano biome than that of the Alpine one. More of them. Annnnd then again they are easier to get than trying to breed for a yellow undine. Still have yet to get one with breeding them sad.gif Also better than trying to grab a green manna egg. Finally did. But caught these brown ones faster than trying to grab it.

If you go into the Volcano region at the top of the hour they are dropping. And there were only around 23 or so in there. I caught another 2 with no problem. Will be offering them tomorrow morning in the departure thread for anybody that doesn't have one yet. smile.gif

In all my 7 years here in the Cave, I've never had to hide my scroll. But someone (I know who but no proof) has decided to take one of my eggs/hatchies at a time and put them in a hatchery to try to kill them. Twice now, I caught it early both times. So, I now have to hide my scroll. At least until I get all the colors. Not cool, but it is what it is.

Lol, just had mine Viewbombed, but only one Sick and the ones getting close to hatching are just that much closer. smile.gif

Edit: actually, just looks like the youngest eggs were hit.
