Posted February 2, 2016 I just google "html color names" and find this at the top because I somehow always forget to bookmark it: http://www.w3schools.com/colors/colors_names.asp Codes aren't necessary, the names work well, too. Posted February 2, 2016 Where do you find the list of codes to change the colors of text? Not just the default ones on the add reply page but colors like teal and so forth. ETA: Thanks for the prompt reply, Ruby Eyes! Here, I think: https://forums.dragcave.net/index.php?showt...0entry6672230 Share this post Link to post
Posted February 2, 2016 Thank you annageckos and Ruby Eyes, it does make sense now I think people might want to hunt at hour drop because they think there is more chance of getting rare egg when they're created - I don't know if it's true but it makes sense. And I got another question from this - if at the hour drop all remaining eggs from biomes are deleted and site is creating all new ones isn't there a chance it's one of things that making hour lag? I don't really know anything about this matter, but isn't deleting and creating new eggs every hour quite absorbing for site server - making new codes, adding breeds to them, choosing biomes and saving it as new data? Or things like that are normal for site and can't cause any delay? Those are basic site functions. They are not the cause or even a likely meaningful contributing factor in the hourly lag. If nothing else this is proven by the fact that the hourly lag is relatively new whereas the cave has always done that stuff at the top of the hour. For a decent computer that just isn't much work to process. Top of the hour lag has only been a meaningful phenomenon for... what, a year or two? And I've played since '09. I suspect the lag has to do with something else. No idea what specifically, but something added a year or two ago and which is scaling poorly. Scaling issues often cause lag. It could be that one or more of those basic functions were recoded and became less efficient/scalable, but I can't see why TJ would replace code that seemed to be working fine, so I think it's more likely tied to some newer feature or development. Posted February 3, 2016 I'll toss together some mockups. Give me a few minutes. Edit: Pink x Rosebud Teimarr x Rosebud Gaia x Rosebud Blusang x Rosebud Heartseeker x Blusang Heartseeker x Sunset Thanks AGYK! Pleased with all of them but Gaia x Rosebud is remaining the most droolworthy. This Valentines is gonna be great! Share this post Link to post

Posted February 3, 2016 (edited) It's still ugly and not at all medieval looking - what is the reason for changing the layout ? The links must go to the same places, so.... I do know how much work you all do ironing out bugs - but there were no bugs with the layout we had. So.... The first issue is subjective. I actually really like the updated layout and am glad I get to experience it. The second - well, neither is the Portal skin, but we still have it. Anytime you change or update things, there are going to be bugs. As well, updates may be done in batches and when they are, that's when you tend to get more bugs. But we're getting off-topic. I suggest taking this to the forum feedback thread if you're that worried. Edited February 3, 2016 by SockPuppet Strangler Share this post Link to post

Posted February 3, 2016 (edited) This is just something I can't figure out uhh What do people look for in "pretty lineages"? Hope that doesn't sound rude, I'm just wondering like - I was looking through the thread "Great Lineages found in AP" and I looked at some of them, and some were pretty to me because of the colors. Uh but when most people say they're pretty do they mean the colors, the dragon types themselves, the symmetry, the pattern, or all of the above? Because some of the lineages were looking really wonky to me but everyone was like "Wow that's so pretty!", so I feel like I'm missing something - or maybe it's just my taste in lineages. Who even knows. But I thought I'd ask just in case lol And by the way if you can't dissect my question from my drivel, I basically mean to ask: "What makes a lineage 'pretty' or 'good'"? "Pretty" is entirely subjective. Generally though people are responding to the combination of an organized lineage form - stairstep, spiral, checker, whatever - with certain species they like together. Often color is a major factor, but stuff like pose similarity, thematic connections - say, fire element dragons together or a Nebula-Royal Blue since both like stargazing - and rarity of dragons in the lineage can also be involved. What lineages are or are not 'messy' can be pretty objectively defined, but prettiness is in the eye of the viewer. Pretty and 'good' or 'valuable ' are two different things though. What makes a lineage valuable is mainly rarity. Being pretty AND rare helps, too, but again prettiness is relative. I adore and highly value prize checkers for instance but most people prefer stairsteps. Edited February 3, 2016 by Lurhstaap Share this post Link to post

What makes it good is what the breeder wanted to see in it. That's basically kind of all there is to it. Some of us inbreed on purpose. for prettiness. http://dragcave.net/lineage/pcguo Some for sheer size: http://dragcave.net/lineage/guffg Some for colour. http://dragcave.net/lineage/f9QgC Some to include loads of holidays or rares. http://dragcave.net/lineage/oC66H Some to honour retired breeds (sob) http://dragcave.net/lineage/q6jez Some to make a pattern. http://dragcave.net/lineage/cgj4n http://dragcave.net/lineage/fp9Og Some for names: http://dragcave.net/lineage/nBxMR For sheer awesomeness (you'd be surprised how hard that one was !) http://dragcave.net/lineage/q2Vym And all sorts of other reasons. You may hate all of these. That's the point - while many will love them, it is all a matter of preference. The people who say "great" could mean anything. Share this post Link to post
Posted February 3, 2016 (edited) @fuzzbucket, @Lurhstaap Oh okay I see now, thank you, though I really should have figured that! I just had to make sure there wasn't some sort of "rule", still a relatively new at understanding all these things. Edited February 3, 2016 by Silverwinter Share this post Link to post
Posted February 3, 2016 Additionally, some may not look special to a new player, but they may contain very specific dragons, such as Thuweds (TJ's own dragons) or Spriter's Alts - pretty unique versions of holiday dragons. Share this post Link to post
Posted February 4, 2016 Here's another example of beautiful lineages, Silverwinter. It's a stairstep pattern that a member put a great deal of effort into making. It's one I treasure: https://dragcave.net/lineage/TELm2 Share this post Link to post
Posted February 4, 2016 I'm sorry if this has been asked before as no doubt it already has, but by any chance does the Fertility BSA increase the amount of eggs produced with Holiday dragons? Since they always produce on their holiday breeding season, it would otherwise be useless for them, right? Share this post Link to post

Since they always produce on their holiday breeding season, it would otherwise be useless for them, right? Fertility only effects the chances of successfully producing an egg by 50%. It doesn't work differently with holidays, but I would agree it'd pretty much be a waste of fertility. (They don't always produce, but it's really rare for them not to.) Share this post Link to post

Posted February 4, 2016 Not a big fan of long lineages, if I can't see the whole thing in one frame, it's not for me. I don't usually collect 3rd gens for myself either, tho I have a lot of 2nd gen pairs for making 3rd gens to trade. But to each his own. I can understand why some people like and make long gens, they are pretty most of them. Share this post Link to post
Posted February 4, 2016 Encyclopedia related issue..... http://dragcave.net/dragonopedia/30 Dark Green Dragon Colour/number of flowers appears dimorphic: females yellow (3), males red (2) That statement is NOT true. Regular vines have 2 red flowers. ALT vines have 3 yellow flowers. Color has nothing to do with gender. Can that statement be changed/fixed? Share this post Link to post

ALT vines have 3 yellow flowers. Color has nothing to do with gender. Can that statement be changed/fixed? As far as I know, it is. The regular dark green dragon sprite we see in-cave currently representates the look of the male for both genders. In the Suggestions forum, there is a thread about improving the vines, which includes a planned female sprite with three yellow flowers. Share this post Link to post
Posted February 4, 2016 I know about the possible 'new' Vines... but unless and until they are released, that statement is misleading. Newbies will be totally confused. Share this post Link to post

With this kind of issue, I really suggest PM'ing either the artist/s involved with the concept or TJ09. You're not likely to get the response you're looking for just asking in TLQ where it will be easily buried. If you really don't want to PM, you could put it in cave feedback or something. Grammar patrol might even work. Share this post Link to post
