True true! And no one would even have known what it had looked like unless someone killed theirs before mine. So even though the mints might be upright when they hatch, I'd still have an upside down dead egg

 

We'll have to wait and see until tomorrow tho if people incubated their eggs

I applaud the genius of making people fight over mint dragons. And people used to hold inbred mints as the "ultimate amazing dragon". To think they could ever be topped. Much applause.

 

But I guess we'll go back to inbred mints after this.

 

I'm glad this is a game and not real life, as a lot of people would be very cut or dead vs arguing over whether they got a mint pixel. The irony is off the scales (dragonscales of course).

I hope we get more events like this that promote us grabbing more common eggs, maybe not implemented exactly like this, but something similar that encourage us to get common eggs that have slightly unique features (like being a CB from the Cave in 2017 when the Cave location no longer exists.)

 

I'm now going to be over my Mint limit because the dragon technically had a unique egg sprite.

 

There are probably people who have mints now because of this event that hate mints, but are collectors.

 

So, I hope we get more events like this, one day mini-events that encourage us to get more commons.

I think what could be done is, give everyone a common egg that is unique in some way, in the prompt, tell us this egg is important (which is essentially what happened here, with calling the upside down mint egg special). To win, we each had to raise this egg to adulthood and if we do, we could get a simple badge, like the magikarp badge. This would encourage people raise more commons, I think.

 

Personally, I always make sure to grab commons now and again, if only for the cave plumbers. I also think some think some of them are pretty looking.

Just because people are asking for crazy things doesn't mean it's worth it. As far as we know, these eggs may just as well hatch normal and the only difference will be the location. Honestly I'd have never thought that could possibly matter to anyone so I wouldn't be surprised if TJ considered all of these just regular commons. I am firmly against anything "exclusive" like prizes, but this hardly even approaches that situation.

So I know Shokomon already made lovely badges and nobody can compete with Shokomon's awesome badge mastery, but I made these badges for the cave with an April Fools trick in mind for TJ. Clearly, he went with a funnier and more clever trick, but hey, the badges have been made for months now, might as well offer them for signatures. If anyone is interested?

Further back in the thread, someone was talking about how the pages are coded to flip the sprite - meaning it's not a unique sprite. So either TJ will turn the eggs back to normal, or they'll return to normal when they hatch, unless he makes the hatchlings be flipped as well (which I doubt).

The cave location opens up new breeding opportunities with coppers and allows users who weren't around for the original cave to have access to a dragon that isn't bred/ a GON that doesn't come from a biome. To some people it is special and there were users who were offering rare things in exchange for one. I traded a 3rd gen prize for mine. Another user had spriter alts available with a note that said "I don't care if these end up normal, they say cave." Asking for a neglected in exchange now that the event is over is taking advantage of the situation IMO, but TJ did create an artificial situation where some users have something "special" and some do not. Creating the desire for these eggs by giving them a cave biome was probably an oversight on his part and these are no prizes for sure, but TJ seems to have yet to learn that things like this where some users get access while others don't (prizes, badges, these April fool's dragons) has negative consequences.

 

Erinthebookworm has a good idea for an event involving dragons where everyone comes away with something. And outside of releases in the cave or implementing the store, these are the kind of dragon-giving events that should be readily considered because something that many may see as "normal" may be overly desirable to the point of affecting gameplay to another user.

I never did understand copper breeding (though I admit I haven't made much of an effort). What would happen when breeding with a cave dragon vs. a biome one? I assume this has already been explored since plenty of collectors have dragons from pre-biome times.

When breeding to CBs, copper color is affected by biome, so any dragon x female Copper will result in a Copper of the mother's color due to her biome. With male coppers, however, cave female mates are more valuable, as they can allow the father's color to be carried over even if the mother's biome wouldn't normally match. For an example, usually red Copper father x Sunsong mother = green copper baby because all sunsongs are from the jungle. However, since I have pre biome Sunsongs, I was able to do a red copper x Sunsong checker https://dragcave.net/lineage/TINtg
