Posted November 27, 2010 Book Number: 8 Number Of Pages: 228 Book Title: First Test (re-read) Author: Tamora Pierce Rating: 4/5 Review: Lord of the White Hell put me in the mood for "first X to do Y" medieval school fantasy. Pierce is an old favorite, and all of my copies of her books are pretty worn and battered. Posted November 28, 2010 Things have been hectic at home... blah. Not been reading much lately. But here's another book I just finished. Book Number: 2 (a reread, probably have reread this book hundreds of times!) Number Of Pages: 191 pages Book Title: Yesterday's Son Author: A.C. Crispin Rating: 5/5 Review: This book is excellently written - I suggest this for anyone who enjoys delving into characters, seeing them develop, learning more about characters. With this book, you'll learn quite a bit about Spock and his home planet, about some of their beliefs. I think one of their beliefs should apply here for real - maybe it will in time, as more and more people start to cooperate instead of fighting. There's a bit of time travel involved, but instead of the common methods of time travel, it's unique. If you're the type of person who likes to ponder about whether something could really happen in this way or that way - you'll like this book for sure. Number Of Pages: 390 Book Title: Squire (re-read) Author: Tamora Pierce Rating: 4/5 Review: This is the first book that Pierce's editors allowed her to keep most of what she'd written instead of cutting it down the a skeleton (thanks, J.K. Rowling, for convincing YA publishers that we readers will still tackle things that have some heft to them!). It shows. Some good -- there's more meat to it, it feels like a more complete book. Some bad -- it's a little more rough than some of the others. She gets the hang of the longer books soon enough, and this one's only noticeable if you're picky. It's still a very good read!
