So, what is everyone doing with their solstice dragons? I want to do something cool, but I don't know what....

 

Also if anyone wants 2nd gens from xmas dragons let me know, I'm sure I'll be asking here for some as soon as I get sorted what I want to do. I have everything but hollies CB and every other CB dragon except golds.

My friend has 2 Solstice/Sunsongs, and thanks for reminding me that I need to breed mine as well. At Christmas, we plan to breed Solstices to swap. I hope.

Unfortunately, I have no CB Shadowalkers

 

No CB Heartseekers, 09 Valentines, Rosebuds, Cavern Lurkers, Ribbondancers, Winter Magi. And of course no CB Holly

 

I guess I was thinking of same breed swaps, and didn't think to list what I have/don't have.

 

I do have 2 wrapping wings, but hubby and friends don't. That was around the time hubby and I were giving up because it was too hard. I was rather shocked to find I did actually have the WW's, to be honest.

 

I am more than happy to breed what I do have and happy to breed with non-holidays now. I have no problem trying for gold/silvers from holidays, and am not worried about eggs in return, although it would be nice to have new blood.

I think I'm sold on Sunsong x Solstice. I'm also becoming obsessed with the idea of wrapping wing x red-fin tidal.

 

After scrambling like a mad-person at Halloween for mates, I'm trying to be more picky about how many common holidays I pick up and which mates I'll pursue. I have more Solstice commons that I really want to chase, but I guess that's the fun of "first year" holidays. You can pick up all the commons you want and decide not to get them all. Right?

Finally !! My "all two-headeds" lineage is done ! (Well, I'll probably keep trying for a finishing egg from the other possible breed, and I still have to name some caveborns, but at least it's complete generation-wise.)

 

A Tale of Two Cities

 

I started this on January, 30th. For the most part it was really easy, the dragons giving the right eggs on first to third try. The tricky parts were getting a Bloodscale from Duotone and a Classic Two-head from Bloodscale. And of course, once I had those, they refused each other. Luckily, re-breeding went a lot faster. Their offspring didn't like each other very much (8 times "not interested" versus 5 eggs), but finally gave me the right egg.

But then there were the Two-headed Lindwurms. To get a green from green+blue I tried for seven months with these two (29 breedings in total) ! Then I saw a post here, formed my Lindwurm-Tinsel-theory, re-bred the green one (on first try), tried again - and got green in the first go. I really should have figured that out sooner...

But hey - all's well that ends well.

Of course, the odds of getting a refusal increase with the importance of an egg or how far you are along in a project. And, of course, this is the last egg I need in this gen. Rebreeding the male's parents provided no interest. Grrrr. These aren't really high gens (yet) but if everything had gone as planned, I could've had my PB 10th gen guardian in 6 weeks. So close and, yet, so far.

I guess the only thing good about a refusal is that you know you'll never have to try breeding them for weeks at a time trying to get an egg past no interest or no egg produced. They let you know how uncooperative they are going to be right away.

Ooooo, that's really nice looking! I hadn't thought of that combination. Which is strange since I've moonstone X blue nebula...

 

Guess who refused? At least I can breed siblings and try again.
