I also have a question, what if someone names their dragons in their native language something completely harmless, but it can mean something offensive in other language/s?

Or since only English is allowed on forums, we only need to worry about English and English like names on scrolls?

If we check all names, I could help out with Serbian/Croatian/Slovenian/Bosnian/German and English names too, of course.

WoLfgIrLyS, those names are acceptable to me. In regards to your other question, I would take that on a case-by-case basis, the reason being that usually the words that are truly offensive are offensive across most languages (though I can think of some exceptions to this rule).

I just named a grey hatchie Scroll Divider Section 69. The thing is, I divide my terae project in 4th gen lineage sections to keep track of them, and this happened to be the scroll divider for the 69 section.

I don't mind changing it, maybe put sixty nine, or maybe in spanish (sesenta y nueve), since I know the other connotations of the 69 number.

Wanted to ask if it could be considered incorrect or offensive. I didn't think so beforehand, it's just a number and the rest of the name pretty clearly states it is a scroll divider dragon, but... wanted to make sure.

That name is completely fine IMO. Unless there was other innuendo there or it's on a scroll where the user has many questionable dragons, using 69 itself isn't going to automatically bring me to the... other connotations. Your name "Scroll Divider Section 69" makes it clear that this is a numbered scroll divider. :3

I feel utterly silly even asking this, but what about Billy Badass? It's an inside joke that also happens to be kind of a weird combo of this baby's parents' names. xd.png

How about drug-themed names? I have a dragon whose code is 'DrugU' and another whose code is '0xYC0' for example and I have given them the names 'Narcosynthesis' and 'Oxycodone'. I was even thinking of beginning to collect these types of codes and names. If it is considered inappropriate though I will change the names and not collect such codes anymore.

I have a dragon named methamphetamines, and Ruby told me it was fine, so I assume it's ok.

I've got a dragon with the code "ZZFaG" and I was wondering if it's OK to name him after the fagging system at Eton College? ...Fag does have a completely different meaning in Britain than it does in the US, after all.

Fags were junior students at British public schools who were basically servants for the older boys, required to perform menial tasks like cooking breakfast, cleaning, folding clothes, bringing them tea etc. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fagging

As a person who has lived in England for all of their almost-21-years of life, I've never heard a single person use that word as anything but a homophobic slur or to refer to a cigarette (with an unfortunate lean towards the former). I don't know what the mods etc will think but personally doubt most British people of the age range that constitutes the majority of internet users will even know of that word in the context of the Eton system.

If you do go for it I'd be prepared for very strong negative reactions unless you get a decent amount of context in there.

Would threats be fine if it's not directed to anyone specific?

Because I got a Seragamma Wyvern named Your death won't be quick. (and another one named Hehehe I smell your fear which is more creepy than a threat, I think, but better safe than sorry lol)

Also are Veronica the Dammed and The Keeper of the Dammed fine?

How about Give me your poison kiss?

Edit: Oh!

And how about I am going to- oh shinny and I am going to hu -BUTTERFLY? They are on two Duotone dragons.

I got Head Tentacles on a Spotted Greenwing?

Edit: Thanks, EnderEcho biggrin.gif

Those seem fine.

Beldarius - I personally would recommend not using that name for your dragon but feel free to get other mods opinions and you could PM TJ if you wanted to.

I second this. I'm a little confused what the actual name would be, but I feel that would come off as negative and disparaging to many, so would suggest avoiding it.

Famine Apocalypse

Pestilence Apocalypse

War 'Apocalypse

Death Apocalypse

Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. War Apocalypse (No ') was already taken, so I assume it's okay. Just checkin'.

Not sure why these wouldn't be okay.

Just wanted to check this was an okay before I went ahead and named the hatching. I'm working on a lineage based on lyrics from a song I like, and one of the lines is this;

"Maimed and impaled, in their pain they sleep."

I've already named a hatching "In Their Pain They Sleep", but would "Maimed And Impaled" be an inappropriate name?
