Posted June 26, 2010 I like the Gold Wolf monsters in Abyss! They're shiny and cute. I just saw one the other day when i was randomly beating down enemies. Share this post Link to post
Posted July 2, 2010 (edited) I just beat Abyss last night. And man, some of these places took forever to find >.> I think all the Sephiroth have really gorgeous interior design. My favorite is the Absorption Gate, but the Radiation Gate scares me. Also, the last Sync fight was harder for me than the final boss. Really. And I was about ten levels underleveled. And ION ;_; poor Ion... Edited July 2, 2010 by TheCompleteAnimorph Share this post Link to post
Posted July 11, 2010 So. Who all has seen RARE monsters in Abyss? I know there's a few--Gold Wolves are one of them. I can't remember the others. Anybody seen them, and know how to encounter them? (And I totally saw 3 more Gold Wolves earlier today, while looking for them. They're so shiny and fluffy looking. ) Share this post Link to post
Posted July 12, 2010 I played a bit of Symphonia a while back. I remember enjoying what I played, but it's really hard to get back into the game if you don't play it for a couple of years. I remember liking the storyline and the characters, but my attention span for games is sadly limited.... and there was that one time I needed to restart the game because my brother saved over my file DX Share this post Link to post
Posted July 31, 2010 So, I started playing Abyss again. I have come to the conclusion that Jade should not, under any circumstances, be allowed to use a heart in his speech bubbles. It's just... Something about it disturbs me. D: Share this post Link to post
Posted August 1, 2010 I love Jade. He scares me at times, and I think I've been traumatized with that little <3 in his speech bubble, but he's still so awesome. I didn't realize it was possible to be as creepy and awesome as Jade is. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 3, 2010 Hey, so, I was at Gamestop today, and just spotted a copy of Tales of Phantasia. I figured I'd grab it, it was just $8 and I have a friend that's trying to get me to play it. Yay, another game that I need to play. I only have, what, 2 other Tales Of games to play? (Abyss to finish and ToV to start) Share this post Link to post
Posted August 9, 2010 Mostly people have played Tales of Symphonia here right? I played that and Tales of Vesperia. Both were really awesome! Vesperia slightly depresses me though because this kid deleted my finished file T.T and that's all I can think about. And I had done so many side missions too... sniff sniff. Farelm, I sympathize with you. It's so hard to restart the game because it takes soooo long to complete. And is anyone really good at using tons of combo-move things, or do you just button mash? For me it depends on the character, but you know how you can chain moves together and get huge combos? I'm really bad at that, at least in Vesperia. In Symphonia it was a lot more straightforward, but for Vesperia, it seemed like Yuri was the only one who got huge combos because he was the only character that had the most... uh, was it skills? (I haven't played since the file got deleted). And now that I've gone on this huge ramble it seems like everyone's talking about Tales of the Abyss, which I happened to never play. I did read the manga though (well, some of it) and it really confused me... seemed intriguing though. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 10, 2010 For me, I pretty much button mash, though depending on the character I may try to set up some combos. But mostly I just plow through by bashing my enemies on the head repeatedly with basic attacks and various Artes. Hahah, well, we're really kinda talking about everything in turn as various people who've played games come in and we get onto the topic of whatever they've played. I have ToV, but haven't played it yet--won't be able to for quite a while, either, blah... It's never cool when you lose a save file, though. D: I've lost a few, or screwed up a few... Posted August 10, 2010 Sounds good! Usually I get confused as to what I arte I set to what button and I'm like, huh? Why is the person doing that? *pause* *check artes* Oh... Yeah, that's true. First it's all about Tales of Symphonia, then the Abyss, and I haven't seen Vesperia yet. ToV is really fun but kind of more complicated because you can set more artes and move in so many different directions. I guess it's like ToS2, but I think it's better. Better graphics, storyline, and all. Although I haven't played ToS2, I have seen like, gameplay videos and stuff and it didn't impress me. I've heard it's good though. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 14, 2010 I usually have certain artes I set to certain buttons, usually depending on what they do so after I use a new one for the first time I might decided "It makes more sense to me to have it set to THIS instead..." then I use that whenever I play that game, so I don't get confused. Mmm... I'd say something about ToV, but I haven't played it yet (due to my brother being on the 360 too much) and will need to buy one myself before I get a chance to, as he's taking it when he heads away for school... But I should finish Abyss and Phantasia first anyway... Personally, I really love the characters in ToS2. The game is fantastic with character development, and I personally really enjoyed the plot. Really, you've heard it's good? You mean outside this topic? Hahah... It's got the fanbase heavily divided on if it's a good game or the worst piece of junk Bamco ever released. MASSIVELY a 'you mileage may vary' type of game, I happen to be a rabid fan, but you'll find lots of people that can't think of a single good thing to say about it... Oh, hay, any Tales fans that have Facebook accounts, go 'Like' Namco's page help spam their wall with requests to localize games outside Japan. Their lack of being nice to non-Japanese fans has made Richter very angry. People are being very creative and vocal in their pleas to them, it's kinda interesting. Share this post Link to post
Posted September 8, 2010 (edited) So, I got a PSP yesterday, the BBS/PSP bundle pack. The first game I played on my PSP was not, in fact, BBS. It was, instead, Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology. I thought to myself "Now that I have a PSP, I must obtain this game. For it is Tales, and I do not have it yet." Thus I located the GameStop closest to my residence to purchase it from. All was well, until my GPS did something funny and deleted the address I'd entered. I thought to myself, "Well, I could give up and go home, as I can't find the store now, or I could call Mom and ask if she could find the address!" She was very helpful, however my GPS refused to acknowledge that the street the store was on existed, much to my confusion. I was saddened, but thought to myself, "Well, I'll ask if she can find the address of the next closest location!" Upon my asking this, she made a wonderful suggestion! I was to return home and she would escort me to the store to obtain the game! Success! I now have a Tales game I can play during my absurdly long lunch break at school! I'm gonna have fun with this. (I'm also using Tales as the inspiration for my homework for my English class. ) Edited September 8, 2010 by KageSora Share this post Link to post
Posted October 18, 2010 (edited) A few days ago I started playing ToS 2 because I was in a Tales mood, and I kept finding spoilers online I've gotten pretty far, in fact far enough that I passed all the spoilers I found (ugh, they were terrible, terrible spoilers), but I just found yet another when I was looking up Exspheres. Grrrrrrrrrr DX I have to say, I like all of the new characters at this point. Decus is funny to watch, Richter is a good antagonist, and Emil and Marta are cute. I'm actually fond of his "Ratatosk Mode," even if the others don't like him. Oh yeah, and Tenebrae. Gotta love Tenebrae. I've pretty much given up on evolving my monsters, since they just keep looping. I can't go around with four level ones, after all. The human characters just keep popping in and out without giving them time to level... @KageSora That's an odd GPS, but I'm glad you solved your problem Hm, there's a BBS/PSP bundle pack...? I think I'm gonna take a leaf out of your book. I've been planning to get a PSP sometime to play KH and Tales, so looks like now is an opportune time. I really have to hurry up with the driving lessons so I can hunt down my own games x_x Edited October 18, 2010 by AAurion Share this post Link to post
Posted October 20, 2010 (edited) BraeBrae is hilarious. And Richter. Can't forget Richter. <3 Ratatosk-mode Emil is fun. :3 And I hate spoilers when I don't want them, sorry you had to be spoilered. As for the monsters... Tey don't always loop, you can get to the final stages of them. this guide is great for the 'mons. I think it's just really out-dated and needs to be not so out dated. Yes, there is, though I'm not sure if places still have them. You'd have to check locally. And I legitimately get to play Tales of the Abyss for my homework. <3 ._. And it's interesting the things you discover when you read some things on boards dedicated to games. Edited October 20, 2010 by KageSora Share this post Link to post
Posted October 20, 2010 I've only played the first Tales of Symphonia game. I love the arguments between Sheena and Zelos. Way too funny. What's the name of the PS2 version? Share this post Link to post
Posted October 20, 2010 I've only played the first Tales of Symphonia game. I love the arguments between Sheena and Zelos. Way too funny. What's the name of the PS2 version? Haha, Sheena and Zelos are fun. If by PS2 version you mean Tales for the PS2, Tales of the Abyss is for the PS2. As is Legendia. Tales of Rebirth and Destiny 2 (as well as the PS2 port of Symphonia and the remake of Destiny), and the second Tales of Fandom are also for the PS2, but they never left Japan. So. Who else is really hoping Bamco will be nice and eventually localize the Tales of the Abyss 3DS version that's been announced? Share this post Link to post
Posted October 20, 2010 *o* Must... get... ToI... For ds... I read part of the manga for it... it's amzing. I like Ruca... I don't think I have an actual reason. But... He's just weird yet epic... Share this post Link to post

It's sad that Tales games aren't that popular over here... I haven't found anyone else in my school who plays it. Only two or three have at least heard of a game... Yeah, that's one of my main motivations for learning Japanese: importing and playing Tales games that the States didn't get, among other games. Hee hee, Sheena and Zelos. Zelos's Japanese voice is so entertaining when he's joking around. You guys have seen the animation, right? Edit: Just checked out the guide, thanks Edited October 21, 2010 by AAurion Share this post Link to post
Posted October 21, 2010 what WHAT Tales Of The Abyss for the 3DS? oh dear. I hate 3D effects, because they give me a headache, but if this is localized I am using the 3D. Tales will alleviate my paiiiin especially with the possibility of 3D SYNC Share this post Link to post
Posted October 22, 2010 @AAurion--I know, it's depressing. I'm hoping to get more people interested by using them as subjects for English papers, personally. Haaa, Yeah, I want to learn Japanese so I can read things and play games. ...Though I'm considering importing Vs anyway, just for RICHTER, @TheCompleteAnimorph: Yes. They are remaking it for the 3DS. I must have it, I desperately want it to be localized. Haa, I hope the 3D wouldn't give you too bad of a headache, but thankfully you can always turn it off if it does, right? I really hope Abyss gets localized too. Honestly though, the only tales games I've played are the two Symphonia games. But, thats only because I never got an Xbox(360) or PS2/3. I really did enjoy Symphonia though, so I'd get the 3ds version of Abyss. Share this post Link to post

Even if the 3DS version doesn't, you could always try to hunt up a used copy of the PS2 version of Abyss. Definitly worth it, I've not yet completed it and I love it tons. I just put the soundtrack on my iPod last night, love the music. Share this post Link to post
Posted October 23, 2010 You're gonna be listening to that soundtrack a looong time, KageSora. I got it a long time ago and I still enjoy it I just finished DotNW this morning! Apparently I ended up getting the "best" ending, but I didn't know about it before. I'm glad, though. If I didn't see that last scene, I'd be so depressed right now. Well, more depressed than I am, anyway. I always get depressed after I finish a good game because, well, it's over. I cried when I finished the first Symphonia because I wanted to keep playing ._. Haaa, I know, I have the soundtracks for both ToS and ToS2, and I still love them and have had them for quite a while. Tales games just have awesome music. Haaa... The 'best' ending is nice, but as an avid shipper of Richter/Emil, I like the implications of the 'normal' ending more. You should try a second play-through of ToS2, I hear there's a hellishly hard dungeon that you can access the second time through. I've not actually tried it yet myself, though. Been too busy with other Tales games I'm trying to beat for the first time. Share this post Link to post
