So, there doesn't seem to be a breeding projects with opals (or I failed at finding it, which... it's me, assume I just failed to find it), but I tried some of my opals, and it looks like we can at least rule out that it matters which colour parent is which: https://dragcave.net/lineage/cfsFa https://dragcave.net/lineage/LxS4a (With the caveat that sometimes biome dragons work differently than bred dragons, of course.) It actually shows that swapping for another egg was definitely the way to go! It seems that once a pair picked an offspring colour, they stick with it like Prizes do.
