@Jerarde: The slime was able to move finally, but not very well. It was able to... even more slowly than usual, ooze itself along the ground or whatever else the slime happened to find to climb on top of, over, through, or under- depending on what it had encountered.

Jerarde oozed along the ground, trying to find something interesting. It eventually gave up looking when a hard object began to form inside him below his eyes. Confused, Jerarde remained still as the object grew into an irregular shape. The strange object was made of the same stuff as the hard line that was already in him, so the material was not entirely foreign to Jerarde. It discovered that it could move the irregular object up and down within its mass, which was odd. Jerarde was not used to being able to move, other than to ooze along the ground.

OOC @ AHH! Sorry everyone. I thought I had posted a couple days ago, not that many! Please, someone get my attention over chat or something so I don't do this again.

@Ravencrime: Your venom sac is fully grown and ready for use as soon as I tell you it's unlocked. All glands work that way smile.gif

Also, Zeditha- I forgot to make a character sheet added into the Big File for your foot. What was its name again? Furthermore- you have BY FAR the widest range of potential noises out of every slime so far. Take a look at your list and figure out what to do.

@Dragonhatchling and Avialae- Remember that you need the ability to hear once Zeditha starts trying to vocalize or it won't make a difference.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

@Jerarde: The slime's... moving part wasn't fully formed or hardened, but as it continued to move around looking for organic and solidifying its new part, it found something. It was cold, and wet, and had hard parts sticking out from under a fluffy layer. The places the hard parts poked out was... something had dried on it. There wasn't enough light for the slime to tell what color it was, but it could see that its fluffy layer was matted there, and stuck to itself.

@Crell: Getting to the... thing wasn't as difficult as its earlier movement against the wet, it was pretty easy. It was hard- as the slime expected, but also... organic? Fully organic! It took long enough to find a thing like this. Whatever it was, it was darker up close than it looked far away, for some reason. It... the best way the slime could recognize it was that its shape was wiggly. The thing wasn't moving, but the shape itself was wiggly. Some of its outer skin broke off when the slime pulled on it, revealing a much smoother inside.

@Atrocitas: (unlocked: strawberry) There were other soft parts, though harder (and less appetizing) within the mound of squishy sweetness, not yet absorbed. There was something else, too. Something had been bothering the slime, but it hadn't absorbed any of it. It wasn't an "it", it was.. well, it was an "it". A feeling. A feeling of lots of small, soft things wiggling around, flailing about. Many of them touched the slime, but it hadn't done anything about it.

@Serket: The circle was surrounded with organic, but the slime had already discarded that as available food. The circle wasn't anywhere near as long as the slime suspected, though, and it was through it in very little time! On the other side, the slime found dry. Dry, with more organic that tasted nearly the same, but also the circle widened significantly. Feeling around a little, it found something... very, very soft.

@Truce: The soft inorganic ground was... almost sticky in how soft and shifty it was. Very different from the bigger-grained ground outside the moving wet. But something worse than that, much worse, was that the slime found something hard, inorganic, and sharp within the ground. Something that made the slime hurt. Behind it, it found another thing that almost seemed inorganic, but somehow wasn't. There were only small pieces of it, though. If it wasn't for the stabby hurty ouchy inorganic thing, the slime probably wouldn't have found it.

@Viathen: The soft, fluffy layer wasn't as deep or thick as the slime had anticipated. It was still soft, yes, and fluffy and comfortable- but just beneath that, it was hard and dried out. All organic, though! The thing was.. well, it was rather hot everywhere, and the fluffy thing the slime found hidden within the scratchy fluffy didn't have that much different of a temperature.

@Avisk: The slime was in incomprehensible pain, but it did notice a few things within its lucid moments. There was another creature that looked angry and hungry, lurking behind... something, behind the slime that ran. When it saw the slime see it, it quickly turned and wasn't visible anymore. The slime that ran was right there near the slime, of course. The other creature that had carried it (if that was a slime too?) had gently set it down on soft organic covering the ground, and was nearby too. All three of them got away! But what could the slime do now? Moving wasn't entirely realistic, and it didn't have enough mass to use to heal, either.

@Zeditha: The slime set the other slime on the ground, and stared at the... other slime. There were a lot of them. That's what they all were, right? Yes. Anyway, it landed on the ground, and started using up some of its minimally stored mass (since it had used a lot lately) to do something else, internally. There was a lot of organic nearby, but all of it was plant. That and the other slimes, but.. those weren't food... The small crunchy one wasn't moving.

@Aster: The other slimes, if that's what both of them were, were right there. The bigger, flying one didn't attack or try to eat the one it was carrying. Instead, it just gently set it on the ground and moved its flight-limbs and landed on the ground beside the other thing the slime knew was a slime. One of the nearby short plants with foliage moved slightly, but the slime couldn't tell if it was the

Curious, Jerarde oozed onto the furry spiky organic with dried stuff, tasted it, and decided to digest a good-sized amount of it; not enough to immobilize the slime again, but more than just a tiny bit.

Pulling on the outside edges floating in the wet around them both Crell pulls on it with the mouths that can reach and eats them as he moves closer. Wiggling up to it and trying to bite at the smoother part under the wiggly outside shape. His eyes looking as best as it can as he bites at it several times.

Truce's mind screamed at it as the pain shot through the slime's body again. But there was something there... something it wanted. It didn't know why, it just did. Stretching it's body thin, it tried to reach the pieces of odd matter, absorbing them into it's body. It didn't feel... right. It didn't feel like the oval shaped smooth organic earlier, or the sweet ones the slime had landed in before that. Yet Truce was still able to break it down, making it unlike the stabby things it had avoided to get the sample. Truce rolled further into the moving liquid, across the spongy floor, pondering to itself about the small sample.

Viathen dug further into the fluff, feeling the dry surface underneath. It was strange and almost uncomfortably hot, but so was everything else. The slime took a chance and started to absorb the dry thing.

Zeditha was hungry, but also concerned about the not-moving slime. She clacked a little, annoyed that she couldn't do anything else. She looked around, eyeing the plants, then looked back to the not-moving slime. She moved one foot and touched the crunchiness of the slime, moving it in a gesture she decided to call a 'poke'. Then she realised that it might be hungry, like she was, so she moved over to the plants, gathered a lot in her beak and brought it back to the slime. She repeated this until the pile was nearly as big as her, and then began eating some of it. She quickly became less hungry, and knew that it would help her form the new thing and then she could communicate with the slimes.

Avisk hurt. A lot. The slime didn't dare move at all once the other being set it down. It was free food basically for them. That's all the broken and badly burned creature could think of. Free food. Oh how badly it needed food. The panicked episode of attacking fire had left it very hungry, hurt and confused. Broken. Brittle. Shattered in places.

The poke that the friendly slime had done hurt it a little more, but that odd slime was off again bringing back plants. It couldn't eat those plants. It couldn't move to even try to eat them.

How had it not died? Avisk didn't question that further. The friendly slime had brought it back, and was bringing plants now. Opening an eye again after a blink- it could see the other slime was also there. The one that it had pissed off by taking the pile. Avisk wished it could say sorry somehow. It didn't mean to have claimed the pile. Something had triggered that inside it.

But Avisk also noticed the odd angry other creature. Worry and fear set over the slime in an instant. Something was wrong, and it wasn't sure if the other slimes knew about that creature. But Avisk couldn't move to make them notice. But, it could clack. As bad as that was for itself.

The slime shivered it's body, making the exoskeleton underside of itself cackle and click. Its goat horn thorns between the scales shifted slightly where it wasn't pinned down on the side Avisk was lain. Tiny fire spurted a moment, before going out. The spines shifted up and down with the cackle and clicks, along with the occasional tiny fire in some type of odd signal.

After repeating the signal only a few times, the slime stopped. Mainly due to fear of making the angry odd scary thing attack them, but once it stopped it also noticed how terribly tired it was. All the slime wanted to do now was sleep, which would make it be eaten. It didn't completely trust these slimes at the moment. It appreciated the plants the other had brought, but trust still wasn't completely there. It was vulnerable, and considerably smaller and less protected than the others. It couldn't move anymore. Fatigue set in. All it did was lay there, starring at where it had last saw the odd creature.

Zeditha was worried. The small, hard slime seemed hurt - it wasn't moving at all. She clacked a few more times worriedly, noticing the flame-and-rattle pattern. Perhaps it was trying to communicate? She pushed the plants closer to where she thought its mouth was and clacked. She wanted to tell the slime to eat - how else could it get better? The slime went completely still though. Worried, and still not completely trusting the third slime, she posisioned herself protectively around the small slime, body around and one wing over with legs free to push away any attacker. She used these free legs to pull the plants closer, hoping the slime would eat them.

OOC @ Everyone: Had to update today! Tonight the April Fool's Day Event begins!

I'm gonna need event requests PMed to me between 3/31 at 23:59 hours to 4/02 at 0:01 hours to count. The event information page can be found here.

@Zeditha: I don't think ants make noise. If they do, I'm not aware of it, so I'll say no. They mostly communicate through chemical signal trails denoting 'danger', 'food', and other super basic things. Huh. Odd. Dragonhatchling and Avialae didn't post. I've met some parrots that learned to mimic REALLY annoying noises. So yes, I'd say you can learn to mimic things permanently- but remember that parrots don't actually understand the significance of what they learn. They can copy human and dog language, but not actually mean what they say because they don't have that much cognition. That will not be true for you, though. Stick with the active level of your complexity and intelligence, and it will be fine. It'll be fun to see when you guys meet humans and you can actually understand and communicate with them.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

@Viathen: (unlocked: albinism, mouse skeleton) The dry, hard thing with the furry covering was... different. A totally different kind of thing than the slime had been finding so far, at least. It was stuck in the scratchy-furry, and the slime wasn't able to pull it out of the other furry no matter how hard it tried. The scratchy furry did feel like it could possibly be consumed, but it wasn't organic. It didn't matter. The slime had something that definitely COULD be eaten already.

@Truce: (unlocked: rust, sand crab) The inorganic parts had been organic after all. Why did they taste inorganic, then? The wet moved more, picking up the slime and shoving it back onto the bigger-grained ground. The slime felt something. The air itself around the slime seemed to move, and move strong, making the slime instinctively attempt to grip the ground to remain where it was; but it didn't work.

@Avisk: The slime felt something at its lower part in the middle of itself. Something inside it was forcing itself out of it. Whatever it was, it... it didn't care. But it started to when it felt its outside break open and the round thing start coming out. It didn't take as long as it initially felt like it was going to, but the slime was in enough pain that it didn't matter much. Once the slime felt the thing come out, it felt something else- fresh air. Fresh, cool air! The slight air movement that the other slimes likely didn't feel because they didn't have wounds as bad as it did felt wonderful. Even better, it felt something important. Its innermost self was still made of slime that wasn't burned up or dried out by the fire.

@Jerarde: (unlocked: cat skeleton) The strangely shaped organic was... just about everything else the slime had found so far tasted bad in one way or another, but this one didn't have much of any negativity in it... except for the sharp parts of some of the hard pokey-outey things. There was more of the creature to consume, but the slime still had a little bit of the other organic still in it that had weighted it down so much. But luckily, it was being less ferocious in its consumption of things and could continue moving if it pleased.

@Crell: (unlocked: bark) The organic wiggly shape's skin broke off as the slime tried to eat it. Some of the pieces it touched were able to be grabbed, but most of it came off and for the most part, began to go deeper into the wet. If the skin went down, why was the big part up? That didn't make sense. But the slime had gained knowledge from something that knew that it could probably hold it if the slime tried to get on top of the wiggly shape, if that's what it felt like doing.

@Zeditha: (unlocked: grass) The orange dancing lights were closer, allowing the slime better vision. There was a thing nearby- with... partially invisible skin that shined when the light touched it, but part of it wasn't clear. It was other colors. It was clearly damaged, and looked like... no, it definitely had organic orbs in it. Lots of them. Looking at the small, burned slime again, it saw something. Its dark part was expanding, and something was coming out of it! The slime could see the other slime's slime. It was clear. The thing that came out didn't look organic at ALL. It wasn't very big, though. But whatever it was, it was coming out. Once it finally did, the slime couldn't help but see the hole it left in the other slime. If it couldn't move to consume things...

Jerarde oozed onwards, not wanting to stay in place. Its moving part it had recently acquired felt complete, if not close to it. Jerarde continued to ooze along, searching for more organic in case it became hungry.

Aster studied the two other slimes' movements intently, not completely trusting either of them yet. The slime didn't run back into the undergrowth, not wanting to appear vulnerable to the larger slime, but it didn't move forward either. The large creature that Aster wasn't sure was a slime wasn't moving to devour the smaller, injured slime like the slime had thought that it would. Instead it was gathering up a bunch of leafy green organics and leaving them next to the smaller slime. Its posture didn't seem to suggest either aggressiveness or defensiveness to Aster, either. Did it want to . . . help the injured slime? This concept confused Aster, even though it had felt the same urge just previously, but then deciphering the motives of other creatures was new to it. Something about the broken and injured state of the now-smaller slime - had it shrunk when it had gotten damaged? - made something inside of Aster feel upset somehow, and made the slime want to protect the other slime. Maybe this larger creature was feeling the same way? That seemed to add up.

But would the larger creature have any reason to want to help Aster? Aster wasn't injured, after all, and it knew it preferred meat to leaves, when it was possible to find it. The larger creature might try to subdue the healthy slime and feed it to the injured one, and the slime's newfound sense of charity didn't extend that far. But the larger creature didn't seem to be making any move to attack Aster, either, only on pushing the leaves closer to the injured slime, which still wasn't moving. Then was Aster safe?

The healthy slime cautiously stepped forward and picked up a large leafy structure with its new mouth. Something deep within it told it that if the large creature let it eat some of the food that it had gathered, Aster had nothing to fear from it, and it was a bit hungry from the recent growing that it had done as well. The mouth that it was grown wasn't well suited for eating this kind of food though, and Aster had to laboriously cut the large, tough structure into small pieces with the pointy edges around its mouth before it could absorb the material. Well, this wasn't the slimes favorite food anyway.

The larger creature had made no move to stop Aster from consuming the piece of organic, so Aster assumed that it was now safe from attack. But once it felt relaxed enough to divert its attention from the threat in front of it, it became aware of something behind it. The vegetation was shaking - it had been for a while, but the movement had been faint before. Now it was growing more pronounced. Aster recalled the aggressive-looking slime from before that had disappeared. Was it hiding behind there? The slime wasn't sure. It turned to face the rustling foliage and, lowering its head, slowly turned around and walked back towards it. Aster opened its mouth slightly, showing its sharp teeth, only to be startled as a low boom reverberated through the small clearing the three slimes were gathered in. What was that? Oh - that was Aster. The slime hadn't been aware it could make that sort of noise. Well, hopefully whatever was hiding behind the foliage would find it as intimidating as Aster had.

OOC: The 'boom' Aster made is actually a noise cassowaries make that signifies aggression, in case anyone was confused by that.

OOC @ Alexander_Drake: Eh... yeah I'd say too fast for right now.

@Availae: Yes, thank you for explaining where that came from smile.gif Also, it "sounds" like you need to be able to get a certain sound from a certain other bird. They have pretty feathers, but their annoying cries for "help" make them less exciting to be around.

-----------------------------------

@Aster: Something distracted the slime. A light. A brightish light, appeared and shone from behind it somewhere close. Then it stopped. When the slime turned around, it saw the little black slime spurt some of the hot light out of itself. Then it didn't. Then it did again. Did... did the aggresive-looking slime just appear on the other side, now? In front of the slime, but outside the clearing, under something else? What was it doing? No, wait. The slime... it was circling them. Wait... something was new. There was a circle near the small slime. It was SHINY!!! It barely even noticed the other slime looked like it was torn partway in half, now. Well, not half, not that dramatic. But there was a hole in it next to the pretty, shiny, glittering circle that shined even shinier when the slime's light flickered on... Something within the slime itself forced its attention away. There was a circle-shaped thing inside it, too. And it also felt like it wanted to come out, and would soon.

@Zeditha: It didn't seem to do anything with the plant material. The slime had eaten lots of other kinds of food that weren't plants, maybe that was the problem? The other slime that ran had consumed a little bit of the pile, though it didn't seem easy. It was looking at something that... oh, now the slime could see it. Just barely, before it turned and disappeared again. It was that angry one! The slime the slime had carried spurted lights out of itself again. The circle that had escaped from the slime's insides (did this happen to slimes when they got hurt a lot? The slime didn't know) was almost perfectly round. It could see that the slime showed some health after all- inside itself. Maybe something smaller could be dropped in there. Where was that flimsy-mostly-clear-skinned thing with the organic orbs in it?

@Avisk: The angry, dangerous-looking creature had looked like it got more excited when the slime pushed the inorganic round thing out of itself. It couldn't have known that was there, the slime didn't even know. What was it doing? The creature disappeared again, but the slime had gotten a slightly better idea of how it was shaped. It didn't have any parts that stuck out of its body, but it was pretty long. That round thing was bothering the inside of the slime for awhile since it accidentally ate it when it was underground hunting the things. Now that it was gone, did that mean it was getting better? So pretty. So shiny... the slime would have to figure out what it did to make more of these. They were necessary.

@Crell: (unlocked: purple-leafed plum leaves) It worked, easily. The slime even managed to get most of the flaking skin due to its shape, though it was still a rather funny shape to be flat. It was even more at the mercy of the moving wet, but it didn't seem annoying now, not where it was at least. The slime even felt... no. When the wet came up and started to form an up of itself, the slime went up with it. When it went forward, the slime stayed where it was. All of the moving wet's force was under the slime. It wasn't at its mercy as much as it thought.

@Jerarde: It wasn't long until the slime found something strange... strange and organic. That wasn't horrible-tasting. It was organic, at least it was for the most part, but it was flat. Flat on at least two sides that touched, apparently. The place the two sides touched was kind of sharp. But it could also see that there was a hole in the thing, now that it could see a little better from some light coming from the up, aimed at the thing. There was something inside. Small things, round. Lots of them! Were they organic, too?

Wiggling himself in this flat form and being surprised as it makes him move around some he can feel that he has a little control over it. Wiggling more and trying to do something his body erupts in bubbles and he jerks in surprise. As he tries turning around and it make shim thrash around he finds that he is dropping through the wet quickly as the bubbles boil out around him. Still wiggling and moving around as he drops through the wet Crell can feel his body coming back into its original shape and the bubbles coming from him thickening.

As he drops through the wet and having little control over it he rolls through the wet before his body spokes out and 6 pointed things come out three to a side. As they come out and harden with several joints and pointed at the end they stretch out around him stabilizing him as he does.

Zeditha had an urge to eat the clear of the other slime, and before she could stop herself her beak was in it. However, she quickly remembered that she was trying to help this slime and stopped eating it. If she had had a tongue she would have licked her now-slimy beak; as it was, she used one of her front feet to wipe away the clear gunk and eat it from there. ((Ooh which of Avisk's unlocks do I gain? :3)) She remembered how she had been clear slime and could absorb things without using the beak, before she grew it, and so she gathered some of the plant and pressed it into the slime's clearness. She pushed in what would be about two beakfuls for her, because she thought that would be about enough to make the slime not hungry.

The thing she had begun to grow while up finished, and she suddenly felt a new sensation. It was strange, and made her want to paw at it. She did so, scrabbling pointlessly at her feathers. She also wanted to stop doing the new thing, and she did for a short while, but pretty quickly the urge to do it again built up and she was forced to use the new inside-part again. Having taken a few more breaths, she let out a whine. (dog-noise.) This wasn't nice. Wait - what was that sound? She turned around and yipped, searching for the source of the high-pitched sound. Then she heard another one, and turned, yipping again. The same sound came again. Annoyed, she stood still and barked randomly at the air before deciding this was annoying, hissed (housecat) and began scrunting a little (that annoying noise rabbits make when angry). Her ears were pricked, trying to find the source of the strange noises, and she clacked a little, tail swishing furiously, wings spread with no intention to fly. She eventually sighed (just a heavy breath, any animal can do that) and snuffled at the slime she had put plant into. Was it getting better? At least she could see now, and she watched interestedly as the plant was absorbed. She mewed at it a little.

Avisk was worried about the odd other slime eating part of the clear part of itself that oozed. Did that mean it was made food now? That didn't seem reassuring at all. But the angry other thing didn't seem reassuring either. That was more pressing. The slime felt the need to protect the round shiny, and used what was left of its energy to somewhat curl around it. That was its. Nobody elses. Its. It owned this. Nobody else.

But the odd slime finished eating suddenly, and pressed leaf into Avisk which hurt for only a moment before it was readily absorbed. That scared the broken slime. And how the other slime was making odd sensations it could feel vibrate the broken parts. No. Wait. They were both making odd sensations. Avisk could tell from their actions of which it saw and the different patterns of vibration occurring. Each sound had a signature, and for whatever reason, depending on which slime it came from also had a signature.

Could Avisk do that? It was feeling better now that the odd shiny thing was gone, and plant was given. It moved slightly, nabbing another plant section. It needed food. But the more pressing matter of the angry thing worried it, and seemed to have worried at least the other slime that had originally controlled the pile.

The thorn-scalework shook on the slime, rattling the exoskeleton part too in a brief shake. They together created a bit of a rattle. Maybe now they would notice? The repeated fire-thorn pattern didn't seem to take notice much. Maybe noise was the way to make notice. A little fire was thrown in for effect, but the rattles it created varied their intensity. Again Avisk stared at where it found the odd angry slime darting. Hopefully one of the noisy slimes would notice. It didn't yet think it could move enough to protect them, but it felt that urge. Just like it did with the shiny orb now wrapped in the legs it owned.

((OOC: Let's say that Aster didn't hear the vibration Avisk was making earlier. Given his condition, it probably wouldn't have been that noticeable anyway.))

The moment Aster noticed the shiny spherical thing, its gaze locked on it and it forgot about everything else - the injured slime, the big aggressive creature, everything. The shiny thing was . . . it was . . . shiny. Aster wanted it. Wanted it so much. But it looked like the other two perhaps-slimes wanted it too - the bigger one was leaning in to grasp it with its mouth-thing, and the smaller, injured one had curled around it. Oh - the bigger one didn't want it after all, it was . . . taking a bite out of the smaller slime? That action bothered Aster, but then the bigger perhaps-slime stopped and began to pile plant matter on top of the smaller slime, which it promptly absorbed. It was still curled around the wondrous shiny, though. It seemed like the other slime wanted it, too. Well, even though it had just absorbed some organic, the injured slime still seemed pretty weak. Aster should be able to take it from the other slime pretty easily.

Aster turned around and walked towards the injured slime, opened its mouth, and placed its jaws around the shiny sphere the injured slime was clutching. Its grip tightened, but the injured slime didn't have a lot of strength, and Aster was able to wrest the shiny away from it without much trouble. As it grasped the shiny in its jaws, Aster realized that something was causing the foreign sphere to gently vibrate. A low noise, similiar somehow to the boom it had made earlier but softer. It was coming from the . . . injured slime. As Aster turned its head towards the other slime to see how it was making the low noise, a flare of the yellow light spurted out of the creature and seared Aster's snout. The slime let out a brief cry of pain, dropping the shiny sphere. That really hurt! Had the other slime done that on purpose? And then there was that feeling on the other side of its body, one of pressure building up. Aster had been able to ignore it until now, but now it had become too strong. It was becoming hard to concentrate on anything else, even the shiny. The slime didn't understand what was happening to it. It felt like something was . . . going to come out of it? What?

@Truce: (unlocked: rust, sand crab) The inorganic parts had been organic after all. Why did they taste inorganic, then? The wet moved more, picking up the slime and shoving it back onto the bigger-grained ground. The slime felt something. The air itself around the slime seemed to move, and move strong, making the slime instinctively attempt to grip the ground to remain where it was; but it didn't work.

As the air ripped along Truce's being, it's body attempted to grip the crystalline inorganic. However, without the actual ability to grip, the moving air dragged Truce across the grainy ground. Being a large ball of slime made mobility difficult... Truce wondered what it could do to change that. Bouncing along the wet inorganic, Truce could feel wet slapping against it's body at odd intervals as the moving air pushed it further down the shoreline. Something in Truce made it want to delve back into the wet. It felt... safer there. After the last few minutes, however, it knew it currently wouldn't make it far into the water like this. It needed something more...

((OOC: Quick question, how much about the 4 Jobs do the slimes know of innately? And subsequently would Truce know A) That each meal changes it's DNA a bit, and cool.gif that he can shapeshift given the mass and energy to do so.

Also, are the slimes supposed to be gender-less or can/should they have a gender? Or is that something that is determined later on in the slimes life?))

Zeditha was slightly amused by the other slime trying to take the round shiny. She didn't want it herself, even though... it was... so... shiny... she found herself staring at it, but her attention was caught by the rattling. She found an urge to copy it, and began trying to replicate the noise. Her attention was caught again by the shiny, though, and she thought of the inorganic from earlier. That had been shiny. She wondered if she still had it and pawed at her feathers again with an inquisitive meow. Giving up, she looked back at the shiny and began to purr.

OOC @ DrakeOfBones: I never answered whether slimes know they can evolve using mass- I leave it to them to figure it out on their own, so the player has that much more to discover. Some slimes grow things then get surprised by it, others spend a lot of time concentrating before bothering to even start.

How much do they know about the 4 jobs- they know nothing about the 'become a dragon', it just happens due to the player; so they never do it on purpose because they don't know what dragons are, let alone the difference between myth and reality.

Clean the environment- this isn't a "I should do this" but more planned to be what their instincts tell them. If you find a corpse with a strange taste that says "stay away", it should instead excite you to eat it instead of avoiding it. Like instead of seeing a dead animal that died because of being poisoned, and also it died of a disease, and also its covered in hazardous chemicals, and mildewy and yucky- and wanting to run away and never look at or think about it, you stuff it in your mouth.

Evolve- Another one I don't answer. Some slimes know they can change if they find things to copy, others just eat everything and the player chooses what to do whether the slime thinks about it or not. Some slimes only evolve to waste mass so they stay small, some evolve to access food they couldn't get to otherwise, or to win a fight.

Learn- Slimes know nothing about this at all. Not yet. Some slimes have eaten the brains of dead animals and learned some of what that individual creature knew (Arq ate a dog's brain in a sewer and learned about an alligator down there), but none of the slimes have been able to recognize that's why it happened yet. At least not as far as their players let me know.

@Zeditha: I... was starting to fill out Fussela, but then I had to go play Skyrim for 14 straight hours instead while also eating a whole bucket of ice cream. It was a good day.

The vial half-full of a genetic slime sample sat at the bottom of the sea, near the shore. Only five or six feet deep at most. The garbage truck had picked up a load and dumped it off of one of the piers, polluting the already heavily polluted ocean.

It only made one tiny difference.

The vial, that was hidden within the garbage that went uncompacted was broken while nearly totally covered in beach silt. People feeling the silt with their feet thought it felt like mud; but it was sand of such a fine grain, that it might as well be dust. Something heavy and long had fallen, pinning the vial to the sea floor but also breaking it open. The only part of the vial visible at all was where the top lid would have been- though it was now flattened and buried. The vial itself invisible and buried as well, but the opening was unblocked. The slime was free.

@Jerarde: (unlocked: portabello mushroom) Organic! Organic, and also squishy. Mooshy. The orb-like things weren't orbs after all, but circles with a thing sticking out. All of them tasted the same.. and they all had a... the things were really soft, and wet, but they also felt wetter and slippery..er on the outside than they did inside the... slippery.

@Crell: The slime instantly became extremely, psychotically hungry. Anything would do at this point! There was a thing below the slime, which it was already heading towards, luckily. It was dark. Very dark. It was... the slime didn't know. Hopefully edible. It was thick, and almost cubic, and had two strange things sticking out of its top, one on each opposite corner. There were other things near it, but that's what stood out the most.

@Zeditha: (unlocked: packrat instincts, antifreeze gland) Hmm? Something felt funny inside the slime. It... there was one of those... things. Things that did things. Small ones. There was a new one starting to form inside the slime, and it started just slightly after it had taken a bite out of the small one. The thought of the inorganic shiny thing stuck inside it that it hadn't been able to get out made the slime able to feel it. The slime had been feeling it for awhile, but it kind of got ignored as other things were more important. Now it was noticeable. But it wasn't a jagged shape with mostly flat sides anymore. That isn't what it felt like. It felt spherical.

@Avisk: Such strange noises (and variable noises) were coming from the big slime. What the heck was it doing? Better yet- how was it even doing that? The thing that the slime had made that hurt coming out was being stolen by one of the other slimes! But then it didn't have it anymore, its flame spurt made it stop. The slime wasn't in pain anymore! It was still heavily injured, but at least it couldn't FEEL the injury. Not anymore. Movement. There was movement again! That big, angry-looking creature was hiding where only the slime could see it, the others were distracted with the shiny orb.

They were distracted with other things too- the bigger one kept making noises which the slime didn't understand, and the other one was doing something with its front and back, and... it was trying to take its shiny orb, but it just made one itself. It wasn't the same color, though. Maybe all slimes could make these? Then that meant the big one that gave it the plant had one, too. What color was that one?

@Aster: The thing within the slime felt like it was going to tear it open! It... didn't, though. It.. the slime couldn't control itself. It felt like it had to... what was it called when instead of putting things in its mouth and absorbing it, it did it the opposite direction? Make things come out of its mouth that it had made inside itself? That didn't make sense. But it was happening. The slime felt itself lurching, building up pressure behind the inorganic sphere inside itself, and forcing it up little by little until it came up to the slime's mouth from behind its.... mouth. What? It forced the slime's mouth open, and it felt really strange! But then it fell out. It landed on the ground.

@Teethy: The slime came to life. Salty wet poured all over it in an instant; taking away the.. not wet that was there. Inorganic flecks came in with the wet, and the slime tasted it. It wasn't edible. It wasn't able to do anything with it. Something organic did come into the otherwise inorganic shape the slime was in- and that organic was jagged and scratchy.

@Truce: ... and more there was. It tasted... like wet. It felt like the slime itself did. But it was organic, and it wasn't the slime. The slime could feel at least part of it, and it felt long, with lots of small squiggly shapes coming off of it- but they all tasted the same. What kind of thing could this be? At least where it was, the slime could examine the thing it found without the air moving it away from it.

Jerarde hastily devoured the rest of the squishy soft wet organic. After that, it investigated the flat organic it had previously encountered. It tried digesting some of it, as well, to see what would happen.

Teeth started trying to absorb the jagged organic. It tried investigating it at the same time. It tried to make haste to absorb it. The inorganic pained the slime so it tried to digest it ASAP so it could get away.
