OOC: Viirin, a note on Aster's unlock list - her starting DNA is southern cassowary, the amber and the lace monitor are from the housewarming event, which she still needs to get in-game. And the unlock you have listed as white moth should be tomato hornworm moth, the adult form of the tomato worm she ate. Everything else seems to be correct, though. Also, thank you for updating me on her size - the last estimation you gave me of her length was only 8 1/2 inches, which was one reason I was holding off having her evolve significantly.

As Aster filled the air around it with the cloudy puffy color that reminded it of ownership, the nearby creature began making its way up to the top of the pile of the moundthat they were both perched on. The strange creature didn't seem to be recognizing that the pile belonged to Aster like the slime hoped it would, instead it seemed to be trying to take it for itself! Recognizing that its attempt to drive off the other creature wasn't working, the puffy color emanating from Aster thinned to a weak haze. Hmm. If Aster producing the color it associated with ownership made the other creature think that it owned things, maybe if the slime made the color that reminded it of fear the creature would become afraid? Was that how it worked? Figuring it was worth a shot, the slime changed the color of its puffiness to the fear-color from before.

After what had happened before, though, Aster wasn't content to leave it at that, especially with the other creature actively moving to claim the pile. Something deep within the slime rose up in anger upon realizing that another creature was trying to take something that it thought should belong to itself, and especially - somewhat weirdly - at the creature taking a perch higher up than the slime's own. It wanted to force the other creature to leave, physically if necessary, and then consume all the organics in the heap. But Aster didn't think that it would be able to do that, not with the hurty spiky things covering most of the other creature's body. With those, any contact the slime had with the other creature would result in extreme pain. But . . . maybe there was a way Aster could still have everything in the pile for itself, without having to drive away the other creature. The slime's slowness had been a source of frustration for itself on more than one occasion, but the other creature didn't look that fast, either . . . and Aster had the ability to change its shape into one that was capable of moving quickly if it wanted. It had even wanted to do so earlier, but the thought of consuming all the bounty in the pile was so tempting that it had decided to wait. But with another creature threatening to steal away the pile, it might be better if Aster changed its mind. If the slime was able to move faster, it could consume everything in the pile while safely staying out of reach of the other creature's spiky body, and there would be nothing it could do about it! The problem, though, was the amount of time it would take for Aster to generate its new body parts. By the time that it was finished, who knew how much of the pile the other creature might have consumed?

Before Aster could come to a decision, however, it heard a loud noise (I'm assuming) followed by a large amount of gooey, chunky organics falling to the ground around it. Ugh, the gray stuff tasted disgusting! Some of it had landed on Aster, but the slime didn't even need that to happen to know that, the foul taste was so strong. Well, that settled that. The other creature could have the pile for now - Aster didn't want to eat any of that nasty gray stuff. It didn't even want to eat the stuff that had landed on its own body, but absorbing it was the fastest way to get rid of it so the slime did so, reluctantly. Once the other creature had gotten rid of all the stuff in the pile covered with it, the slime would eat the rest. It still intended to grow its faster body, though - if not to outrun the other creature, to get away from this place where even the air tasted foul now as quickly as possible. Heading down to the bottom of the pile where there was less of the gray disgusting stuff, Aster set about forming its new body - more interlocking parts on the back end of those it already had, except the new ones were fused together, a cagelike structure protruding down from the new interlocking parts, and most importantly, two long, strong moving-ends, with three shorter, smaller filaments branching out at the bottom of each that the slime knew somehow would help with balance. When its new body had finally finished forming, Aster rose slowly into a standing position - it wasn't used to balancing on such long ends yet - and craned its flexible interlocking parts from earlier, which were now at a right angle from the rest of its body, around to see if the other creature had cleaned the foul-tasting gray organics from the pile. Aster was much taller now than it had been before, and things looked very different from so high up.

OOC: Aster grew the rest of the cassowary skeleton, except for the forelimbs/wings, which are vestigial anyway, and the beak and casque (it's still easier for her to absorb things through the skin at the moment).

OOC: @Avialae: I see that now- I didn't pay close enough attention when copying from my character file. Actually, it's one of the reasons I'm still working on this file- so I know what event stuff did and didn't get to people. I know I owe a lot of rewards! But luckily, there are like... three or four event rewards in that pile you're standing on right now (well, not standing). Plus I saw that you started in the swamp, but you're in the forest right now. The two touch, as is normal anyway. Just wanted to let you know that in case you wonder. But yeah you can get back to the swamp easily.

@Everyone: Umm... right. So I'm gonna read and do updates a bit later, so if you don't already have an update in (spoke to Alexander last week I think), and I see most of you do, then go ahead and post an update (like I said, unless you already did) and I'll get to work later on tonight. smile.gif

Also, in TWO HOURS an event starts. PM me your Valentine's Day event requests! Here is the event information link.

Also, now everyone can see all of the information on all of the slimes so far and why I kinda post slowly- there is still so much more to update in this file.

Avisk nearly fell from the explosion foul tasting thing that happened, but it slammed up against something else of the pile instead. The gray stuff got all over the slime, which irritated it and even stuck more to the fur of the packrat. Great! More problems!!

It probably didn't help the packrat had been right in the target zone of the goo. That certainly didn't help matters. But the slime absorbed the parts of the goo it could, clambering down a little ways to try and get the packrat off. Still no luck. That was stuck there for a while.

But Avisk absorbed more of the goo, and a few other random things in the pile from letting slime seep out of the scales and horns. The goo was starting to go away more, but the slime also noticed it was changing from eating these things. It's body elongated slightly, growing six bug-like legs but with scales instead. They had the strange muscular structure of proper legs, and even toes that helped it grip from the looks. Those stuck and were grouped with two in front and two in back? That was weird, but they seemed also strangely able to move differently than they were originally intended. But on the back end of the slime as well there seemed to be mandible-like pincher things that were able to move willingly and close strongly. That could be even more useful?

The slime didn't know. It didn't know what was really going on to be honest. The one eye still watched the other slime, which also seemed to be going through some sort of transformation? Was it? The slime didn't know, as it moved slightly to avoid a slop of goo that nearly fell on it. Which it also noticed there was a mouth gap now that let it 'eat' things better. It wasn't exactly sure what use that was going to be with this new body. It was closer to the container now, which rolled a little bit nearer.

The slime scurried away quickly, not used to the new movement of quick legs and also selectively gripping feet. Were they feet? They seemed to be feet. That was what was coming to mind. Feet. What the heck were feet. Must've been those. The spikes were still networked between the scales, but also new odd plates of 'armor' had originated into flexible segments in some spots of greater weakness. These didn't impede movement from what the slime could tell, as they were mainly on the underside of the slime, but were able to move like scales did even though being slightly bigger.

((Avisk grew a mashup of the pincher bug skeleton on the underside, as well as the pincher in the back end, packrat limbs (the muscular structure), pincher bug limbs (the six legs), and chameleon toes with packrat actual movement in the toes- so, like, instead of being joined as two and two like chameleon's actually, they're also able to spread out if needbe. Still covered in scales and goat-horn network, which has retained it's ability to move freely as a defense. And now has a "mouth" gap where slime is more able to be in contact with things than seeping out of the scale-horn places.))

@Tenebris: (unlocked: rabies gland) The slime convulsed periodically, the out-of-itself feeling getting worse before it began to make itself feel better. It took awhile, but finally it was gone. It was done. In its place, though, the slime felt a.. thing. A semi-hard roundish thing with some dense stringy things coming off it in two opposite directions.

It pressed at the lump curiously with the rest of its semi-fluid body. This felt... Right. Though it had previously felt unpleasant, this lump of strange matter was strangely rewarding in its own way and the slime felt the drive to acquire more, though preferably through some more pleasant means. It stretched out its body again, squeezing itself around the sharp pieces it had landed on and venturing past them. It was practically starving. The little bits of food it had consumed weren't nearly enough to fuel the sort of journey it was intent on undertaking. Determinedly, the orb sloshed forward to adventure (as it were)

((I do apologize for the short posts. I imagine it'll get better as soon as Tenebris has a better sense of its surroundings))

OOC @ Zeditha: Packrats. Avisk saw these too and was bugging them in their tunnel before being too big to fit (she actually got trapped in there when she grew) so they're kind of running amok now. You found one of the ones that had gotten away from her.

@SparrowSelkie: It was going to be a bee, but since you said fly, it's a fly.

----------------------------------------------@ Lumikkja -----------------------------------------------------

The door creaked and blew in the wind, and the wannabe soldier snuck in, looking for something interesting to use for target practice. He found a few glass instruments, and a room full of strange glass tubes with metal screw-on caps. Well, not a room full, but there were a lot of the vials still there. Someone had been apparently plundering it already, which was no surprise really. No one had been there in a few weeks at the least.

There was a clear, thick, gel-like substance in most of the vials- it looked like some of them were broken and had drained. He chose one that was in mint condition and stuffed it in his backpack with the other things he found.

A week went by and he finally went on his trip with his friends to the desert for shooting practice. His friends were less generous than he thought; and it was hard to keep the vial hidden so he could sneak off and shoot it himself. But the sound of the gun drew his friends, who got annoyed he'd keep something for himself and got in the jeep to leave. The wannabe ran and jumped into the jeep as it sped off.

But the canister was blown in half now, and the slime inside was awake. The canister rolled off the rock and fell onto the sand.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

@Tenebris: The slime wasn't blocked, but it felt tiny thread-like things stuck to the ground and... the slime could only tell one end of them. The slime could forcefully ooze itself between the threads, but not retain its orb-shape. The threads were organic, and the slime felt as though there were tiny vibrations on the thread, but it was slight enough that maybe it didn't.

@Avisk: (unlocked: oyster, luminescence gland) The light in the up was gone now, but at least the slime had made its new form and hardened its new things to the point of being useful. The most annoying part was that the stupid dead creature was still stuck on its back! Well, the slime's back thing might be able to bend enough to grab it and pull it off. The slime's sight returned to normal. The funny inorganic thing full of odd wet had made it change a little, but it had completed that affect while it was growing. The slime noticed something as it looked and saw the other slime had changed. It was rather difficult to get the strange liquid out of the thing, but the slime wanted liquid for some reason. There was some in the inorganic thing it found while changing itself, so it did whatever it had to do in order to get it out. It had begun to glow- and the slime knew this because it personally started to get brighter as the ambient light began to fade.

It didn't know what this glowing meant, or what could be done with it, if anything, but it had it now. Before it was too dark to see it, the slime thought it saw a clear liquid begin to seep out of something near the other slime, though it hadn't touched it yet. What kind of wet was that? It wasn't that far away from a strange round-looking thing, next to a few more that seemed broken in half. Had another slime eaten everything of use out of the other ones? The liquid and ball didn't seem related, though.

@Aster: (unlocked: oyster) The other creature was changing too! It looked like it was growing faster than its current form. Was it thinking the same thing? It turned "Ownership" color, it ate stuff from its skin, it changed after eating... was... was this another slime? Aster had never seen one of itself except itself. Somehow something started to make sense, but the slime hadn't figured out what just yet. That annoying thing stuck in the slime was still annoying, and had remained lodged in the slime's interior even after it grew. Which it was now famished from doing. But... something... something started to change with the roundish thing in the slime that got stuck in it when it ate the thing it found that turned it another color.

The edge of the inorganic thing didn't feel as sharp as it did before. Wait, why did it take this long for the slime to realize the light in the up was gone now, replaced only by tiny dots? Tiny dots, and... the other creature had been glowing for a couple minutes. Hadn't it? It wasn't now. It had picked up a... thing. A tube. A small one. It was bent in the middle, and when the other creature held it down with its front limbs and pulled on it with its front part, some liquid came out. The other creature shook it around, and some of the liquid splattered on everything. Even the horrible gray stuff. It didn't look anything special. But then the other creature started to glow, first from its front part that the wet touched, and also at the same time, each of the other creature's skin started to glow where the wet touched there too. Then it started to spread, quickly, until the whole creature was doing it. Then after a little bit, it started to fade, then the parts that started to glow weren't glowing. Then the not-glowing spread until it wasn't glowing at all.

@Crell: The creature struggled for a moment, but with the sticky at the top of the wet, which the slime knew full well how difficult to escape that was, and the slime itself wrapping around the creature- it didn't struggle for long. The long pokey part was really dense and hard, and it was taking awhile to get anywhere in its dissolving attempt. But the area around the pokey part was much, much softer. The slime even felt the hard part beginning to come loose from the bigger, rounder part.

@Sammy: (unlocked: cucumber, brine gland, cotton) The slime was totally full, and quite pleased about it. Something it wasn't as pleased about though was that the air changed. It wasn't by much, but between the time of going into the inorganic container with the organics in it, and the time coming out (the slime was distracted), the air had gotten colder. Inorganic. Inorganic. Organic.. organic! The slime found something else to consume. It was flimsy and tasted dirty, but it was organic.

@Zeditha: (unlocked: packrat legs) The creature was definitely not moving anymore. Tearing off pieces of it and consuming it, the slime didn't see any other creatures in the hole. Didn't hear them either, though it had before. When the slime had first struck the creature and punctured it with its beak, it had made a loud, high-pitched noise. The slime heard another sound, but not in the direction of the other ones it had been focusing on- it was dull. A.. "pop" sound. Like a louder version of when organic ball things had fallen from the tall organics onto the ground. It came from a decent distance away, on the other side of leafy organics. Maybe... thirty slime lengths?

@Viathen: The slime didn't entirely realize what was really going on- but then it did. The creature was... well, it wasn't trying to absorb the slime, or if it was, it was failing miserably. The slime wasn't, though! It was able to keep the creature from moving by absorbing its limbs while smashing it with another part of its slime, and that worked very well. The creature struggled, or so it felt- there were tiny vibrations. But they didn't matter, because the slime was easily stronger than this small creature.

@Serket: The slime awoke with the feeling of hot air touching it. It felt whatever kind of smooth inorganic cylinder it was in wobble, fall over, and begin to roll. It felt itself go down quickly, then stop suddenly and almost right away. Thud! The slime had thought the air was hot, but now it only felt warm. The ground, however, that felt hot! It wasn't burning the slime, but it felt like it was.

@Undine:The organic thing the slime was encompassing tasted... sweet. Not bad. Dense. Some little parts of it were a little bit sticky, even. It was taking awhile to absorb, but the slime could feel it thinning in every part of itself, the slime gaining energy as it dissolved. The organic touching the slime on its top and bottom and a couple of its sides (which was a strange way of thinking since the slime didn't have a shape at all) remained unmoved.

It oozed forward towards the organic on its side, tentatively touching it. The slime slowly spread across and up the material, using the same approach it had used towards the sweet-sticky-spiny. But there were no sharp edges to be found by its explorations. The previous thing it had eaten was not quite done digesting, but it was close. At any rate, there was a nice source of food all around it and it was still hungry. Its still small mass withdrew the slime that was sliding up the walls, before the lump decided to flatten into a small "sheet". It had a lot of area to cover, and it would start with the bottom. Some vague instinct wanted the slime to grow an appendage. Not like an extension of slime that it had been doing. An impression of a four legged animal with a hard looking material encompassing it coursed through its 'neural' functions. Even as it still wanted and concentrated on dividing and conquering the organic around it, a little bump started growing out of an otherwise flat slime.

After the bottom part of the organic was completely eaten, it would ball up, still retaining the odd bump. The bump was slowly growing into a cylindrical shape, or at least attempting to. Why did it suddenly want to use the bump to eat? The bump wasn't even ready yet, and needed something else on its end. Absorption was serving very adequately; this seemed incredibly superfluous yet correct at the same time.

Happy Valentine's Day event!

Anyone that wants to join the RP, please do! Here is event information:

Event began 11:59 PM Feb 13 Eastern Time and goes to 12:01 AM Feb 15 Eastern Time.

There are two classes of reward you may choose (all you have to do to qualify is post to the thread, private message me, or talk to me over Facebook before the time ends). The two classes are:

Red: Anything that is primarily pink or red counts, even if it is only that color because of food dye. You can totally cheat on this one. A black bear, as an example, can even be a valid "primarily red or pink" reward. How? Because someone sprayed him with a firehose full of pink cake frosting. Why? Because they like abusing animals. There, now it's primarily pink or red, and counts. Some of the non-cheating reward requests are Code Red Mountain Dew, Lobster, Lionfish, Fox, and Red Velvet Cake.

Candy Filling: Something that you'd expect to be inside a chocolate from a box of chocolates. Various nuts, peanuts, or berry creme fillings, maybe caramel or alcoholic cherries. All sorts of things can be in chocolates.

((Posting here because my PM box is almost full xd.png

I'd like to request a fox! I just want that gorgeous fur... Also the nose. Noses are awesome, or at least I'd assume they're awesome. Not like I'd know... Dumb nose, always having a cold... *pokes nose* That, or having a sweet chocolate-smell, or perhaps a toffee-trap? Ooh, the possibilities of sweeties ~

Also, slime-lengths is a useless measurement since I have no idea how big the slime is. xd.png))

Zeditha finished her meal, then decided to head towards the new sound. She realised she wouldn't fit in the tunnel, so she just walked above the ground. She kept her ears pointed in the direction of the sound and walked towards it. She looked at a foot and got a strange feeling, as if there was something better she could be using, but ignored that and continued on towards the strange sound.

Satisfied that it was no longer in any sort of danger, Viathen went back to the sweet ball. There was still a fair amount of the organic left and Viathen's hunger had all but disappeared, so it decided to try changing itself again. It felt pretty vulnerable in its gloopy state and decided to make its skin harder. Slowly, it began to take on a consistency much like the walls it had encountered earlier. The hunger returned almost immediately. Viathen hurriedly climbed back onto the sweet ball, and was alarmed to find that its newly hardened skin couldn't absorb the thing. Luckily, the undersides of its fins had remained soft and it could still absorb, though much slower now.

((OOC: I'd like to request a Cecropia Moth please!))

Wrapping himself around the struggling organic and trying to force himself inside it Crell focuses on absorbing the softer part while his spines scratch and scrap one the hard one and he keeps trying to weaken it. His body flattening around it and trying to cover it from all angles he can feel the slimy wet from above still covering parts of it and those are easy to absorb as he works on this large organic thing. His body flattening down against the soft areas and his spikes easily push and hold that as he sinks down into the wet holding it.

Aster did feel a bit more kindly disposed towards the other creature now that it realized that it was another slime, but in a more practical sense, not much had changed. The slime still wanted to eat everything in the big pile and have a higher perch than the other one. Well, the other slime could have the things that Aster didn't want, like the gray muck, it supposed. But Aster should get first pick. So when it saw the other slime pick up a small tube and drink from it, the slime stamped its filamented feet on the ground in frustration. Aster should be the one eating that, not the other slime! And now the other creature was glowing - it was so beautiful! Aster wanted to do that too! Well, it did now that it had seen the other slime do it, anyway.

Perhaps prompted by the new body parts it had grown, Aster felt the urge to charge at the other slime and drive it away. But it was so hungry from growing its new body, too. The slime needed to absorb something before it did anything else, to its frustration. Craning its largely unchanged front half around, it saw the outline of something round in the dimming light, and the glisten of some liquid. Why was it suddenly getting so hard to see? Well, it didn't matter right now. Approaching the round object first as it seemed to be a more substantial meal, a bit slowly since the slime wasn't used to walking yet, Aster bent down slightly and brushed its side against the sphere, trying to determine from its taste if it was organic. The slime really hoped that it was.

Avisk didn't know if it liked the glowing or not. Was that good or bad for itself? It had no idea. And the other slime seemed to have taken notice, which worried it. The other slime's body seemed more formidable now, but also more clumsy in a way? Was that how that was supposed to be described as the slime watched the other creature move? It wasn't used to walking- though itself couldn't say that much about walking either.

The colors on the scales changed as the slime thought, trying to figure out everything without realizing the coloring flourishing into different spectacles. Sometimes the glow would happen. Sometimes not. Avisk watched the other slime a lot more now that it was getting darker, worried the uncontrolled glow may give it away. The other creature was eating something else? Did Avisk need that? Its urge to control the pile had really subsided now from what it could tell.

It had the top. Why couldn't the other creature maybe have the bottom? That seemed fair. They both needed food right? Fair enough. Avisk would let the slime have the bottom, but the top was for itself. It was already up here. And to show that, the scaled mash of creature turned the color the other slime had done before which sparked the original urge to control the pile. Hopefully that meant this part of the pile was claimed. It was in the slime's mind. Theirs. This was theirs. This half-top was theirs.

With that shown, Avisk worked on getting used to the new legs. They could grip things invididually and there were six, which made walking and balancing easier. The pincher thing it had grown snapped closed, then open, which gave Avisk an idea. Could it get the packrat off by pinching it? It was worth a shot right?

The slime situated itself so it had equal balance, bending the pincher thing so it was close to the rat, and with some straining it managed to barely snag the dead creature. Pulling it off was the harder part, and was uncomfortable and awkward for the slime. It nearly slipped one leg, but managed to get most of the creature pulled to un-stuck mode. A reset of the bending made pulling the creature off easier, and as a truce to the other slime, Avisk rolled the packrat down the pile where it would land without hurting the other creature. The scales changed to a more happier, peaceful color with a slight glow that complimented the coloring to reflect this. All Avisk wanted was peace. It didn't like attacking the other creature before.

It wasn't burning the slime, but it felt like it was.

Already the slime could feel hunger, as well as the texture of the ground beneath it. It tried to absorb the burning granules underneath it, only to find the ground was devoid of organic traces. The slime slipped forward, wandering down along a pattern in the ground. There were flecks in the pattern, organic traces, but not enough to usefully absorb. The slime continued until it wandered into an area of ground that was less burning than the rest, which was also where it found organic matter. The slime felt sharpness and a bitter taste as it began to absorb the organic material. As it absorbed the organic material, another organic something - with several moving parts, yet a smooth exterior - accidentally found itself enmeshed in the slime's body. The slime payed it little attention, even as a sharp part of the new organic creature stabbed downwards into the slime.

Soon enough, the creature stopped struggling. There were more marks in the sand. Almost unknowingly, the slime followed them.

It tried this straining, pushing part and then all of itself through it. The slime paused. What a- it tried to replicate the feat. Strange thing. Utterly alien. It bubbled happily to itself, continuing to plod along (though it's progression was more like a squiggly circle than any real progressive movement).

OOC: I'm starting to get sick. If I get sick enough, Books agreed to post for me, and Dragonhatchling has done it before too. So, just letting everyone know.

@Zeditha: Gotta ask you to edit. You broke the ground open to find the packrat and ate that, but you're about the size of a normal-sized dog, like a spaniel, right now. Way too big to fit in the tunnels.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

@Avisk: The slime couldn't see the other slime much at all, but it seemed distracted with something. Was that the other slime? It was too dark to tell, since the slime only knew how to see in the light. The slime hadn't noticed it before for some reason, but it was standing on something... furry? No, not furry. But it was soft and slightly wet. Crumbly.

@Aster: Ug, another one of those orb things that forced the slime to make the puffy. That's all this was. It wasn't even organic. In the pale light, the slime saw something. Something coming towards it! Then it stopped. It could taste the thing from where it was- and it had that awful stuff on it. But also... that inorganic thing stuck in the slime was less uncomfortable than it was before. The thing that came towards the slime was organic. The slime couldn't see very well at all, but it looked like the thing that was stuck on the other slime. How did it get here?

@Crell: (unlocked: seagull) The creature was just plain too big to be absorbed or even covered by the slime. But the slime did feel itself starting very slightly to be able to cover more and more of the nonmoving creature as it absorbed more of the sticky black. But the creature was getting smaller too, as the slime dissolved that much more of the parts it had encompassed. The slime was far from hungry, it was... what was the opposite called?

@Serket: Whatever the marks were, if they even were marks (being alive for only five seconds and having no knowledge of anything didn't help), the slime kept moving along. It eventually got to a part of the ground that didn't just feel like it was less burning, but it was actually cold. Cold, but still dry like everything else. Though there was something organic there... something almost rubbery, with, if the slime felt up it far enough, thin, hard, sharp parts.

@Tenebris: Something organic! The threads were close enough to organic... maybe they were? But this thing the slime just bumped into definitely was. It tapped some small points on the slime, but it moved so fast! Then it started to disappear in the same place a thread was felt. What was it?

@Viathen: The sweet ball wasn't a ball anymore, but it was pretty delicious. Maybe it was only half a ball to begin with; the slime felt something different before it had a chance to even taste it. Under the ball was something hard and edged, forming a wide point. It felt down the widest side and there was something softer inside. Tiny inorganic spines, with... organics? Yes. Inorganic spines forced organic things onto the inner flat part of this wide, pointed thing.

@Undine: (unlocked: paper, blue pigment) The organic that was all around the slime, at least that one, was gone where the slime had touched it; though it could feel there was far more. There was also other stuff below it- but it tasted different. One of them was organic, but it was... it felt like powder? Okay. Yummy powder. Really sweet, whatever it was. To one side, another organic was found, but it tasted rather dull. It was incredibly hard, though.

OOC @Zeditha: Usually slimes don't grow that fast, but since you ate a large bag full of dead animals from the veterinary clinic, well, you grew a LOT. biggrin.gif

((OOC: uh... what the heck did my slime find? blink.gif please forgive the n00b))

The light was dimmer under the sweet ball, so Viathen could hardly make out the spiny shapes. But it did sense the presence of more organics. Its hunger wasn't its main priority at the moment, but it was eager to find more things to change itself with. Viathen reached out a fin towards the organic, but recoiled when the sharp edge touched it. It examined its fin. A small cut was on it, but the slime had no bodily fluids to leak and quickly absorbed the cut into the rest of its blobby body. More warily this time, the slime inched closer to the organic. The spines were fairly easy to avoid once Viathen knew what it was doing. It creeped carefully until it could finally lay a fin on the organic.

Aster briefly scratched the ground in disgust upon learning that the round object was not only something the slime had eaten before, but inorganic as well. One of its feet came in contact with the object as it did so, sending the sphere gently rolling away, though the slime didn't notice with the lack of light.

Briefly startled by the falling organic, Aster moved closer to examine it after it stopped. Not knowing where it had come from, the slime considered eating it, but even as hungry as it was, it couldn't bring itself to absorb something that was almost completely covered with the disgusting glop from earlier - at least not when there was so much food around, at any rate. Famished, the slime buried its entire front half in the base of the pile, which had largely managed to escape being covered in the foul-tasting organic rain due to the angle of its trajectory, and tried to locate the taste of something organic with its still-slimy skin. Something that at least didn't taste absolutely horrible, anyway.

Aster had noticed earlier that the hard thing it had accidentally absorbed earlier was starting to disappear, and was glad of it. It had been very difficult to grow with the same object inside it, and the slime had been forced to shift its forming body around uncomfortably so that the non-organic thing wouldn't get stuck in its new structures. The slime regretted ever eating it, and in its opinion, the sooner it was gone, the better.

Stopping absorbing this large thing and quivering Crell can feel himself bursting with energy. Wrapped around this still large organic he can feel his body full of energy and needing something. Twisting and turning around on the large organic he lets it go, it quickly floating away as his body comes back together and he wiggles and turns around in the wet. The body shivering and twisting in and around on itself he flattens out for a second before coming together again and he can feel pieces of his body coming out to match what had come before. On either side of his body things poke out and now when he thrashes he goes only in one direction. Slowly moving his thrashing to only one part of his body and he can feel himself moving through the wet around him very fast and easily now.

OOC @Dragonhatchling, Avialae, Zeditha: Okay, well I was trying to get all three of you to have two things in common, but I guess that didn't happen. It might make for a pretty good laugh in a few posts, though! In fact, I'm quite sure it will. I already shot soda out of my nose. (cleans off keyboard)

@Lumikkja: You found one of these.

@Avialae: Now that you evolved and have a few glands- especially breath weapons, I'd like to know your placement of them. Does your smoke seep from you, or is it a breath?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

@Zeditha: The light had been fading for awhile, but now it was so different from before the slime found the flimsy-skinned thing full of organic that it couldn't ignore the change any longer. It was starting to get... not bright very quickly. The up, where the slime could see it between the tall, leafy organics, had already turned orange, and that color was starting to fade to something darker. Something round fell from one of the tall organics, and the slime watched it hit the ground and roll a little bit. Something was there, dark. Black. But it had red shapes on it. It looked inorganic, but there was a small rip in the thing's skin, and something brown with white specks on it was revealed inside. The noise would have to wait for now. The encroaching dark wasn't anything new- that new. The slime had seen it happen before, but it still didn't know why.

@Aster: Poking around, the slime found something wet. A liquid. But it wasn't a kind of liquid like the slime had ever found before- it burned. It burned badly! Even worse than the gray stuff that burned the slime's surface from earlier. Worse, it was spreading. Could the slime find something to consume quickly that would help? Would it help? But it wasn't going to be absorbing anything with the inorganic ball still stuck in it. Stuck in it? That inorganic other thing wasn't gone after all, it was just... getting comfortable? Feeling it, it was getting rounder. Spherical. What was going on in there? What was going on its outside, with this spreading burning feeling!?!

@Crell: SMACK! The slime, moving faster than ever, slammed directly into something hard and organic. It felt like it got bigger as it went up, towards the surface of the wet. What was this thing? The slime was getting injured and trapped far too often already. Something organic touched the slime as it floated below the sticky. More of that wide-veined, rubbery stuff. But something... something else was.. on it? It didn't taste like the one it found earlier had. The slime felt something else. Something inorganic- thick inorganic lines.

@Viathen: It wasn't as small as the slime had initially felt. Maybe because it recoiled from the spine before it got a good feel of things. But the slime could tell it was something... exciting? There were a few of these organics inside the wide-pointed thing, and it didn't find anything else as interesting or clean within its reach.

Falling back slightly and rolling around on himself Crell wiggles and tries to cry but finds he has no way to. Wiggling around and moving closer to where the organic thing he knows with the thick inorganic lines on it he bumps into it again a few times before he wiggles around making himself roll around in the wet and the middle of his body between side things opens and he is assaulted with new things. As he freezes and takes in everything when he moves slowly and the things seem to move to. Moving closer to the thing he kind of knows with the other things he does not he still hits it but this time he somehow knows that he did it himself.

((OOC: @Viirin: okay, thanks. Cactus makes sense… the 'rubbery' part just made me confused xd.png))

Something new… something organic. The slime felt sharpness, and just like the sting it sustained earlier from the moving organic mass, it felt pain. But hunger was worse, and the slime recognized that it could absorb the organic matter, so it began to do so. Rubbery, spiky… yet still organic. The slime moved its way up the substance, but it soon retreated when it felt a burning glare from above. The ground was cool, dark, and devoid of the frustrating burn that made the slime convulse. Once again there were indentations in the granules that surrounded the organic matter. The slime slid along these indents, searching for more of the spiked organic matter, and other things it could absorb. The spiked non-moving organics had a bitterness to them, but they made the slime's hunger go away. Hunger was all the slime could sense, really. The pain of the spiked thing was ignorable. The slime focused only on its hunger, and a mild curiosity and instinct to find new sources of organic matter.

((Ooh... Sorry we didn't make your plan work! Tell us what you want us to grow and we'll consider it, I'm sure xd.png))

Zeditha approached the strange new thing, and poked it with a foot, wondering if it was organic. She decided that if it was organic, she would eat it. It seemed interesting enough for that. She realised that her foot didn't detect organicness, so she used her beak to try and break a piece off and see if it was organic that way.

((If it's organic, you can make Zeditha eat it. xd.png Just to make things move a tiny bit faster, rather than you saying 'it's organic' and then me saying 'I eat it', which wastes two posts' worth of time.))
