Gnashing its teeth together Crell tries to take it all in around him and finds that doing so was giving him another kind of pain from the sharp thing. Stumbling across the fuzzy inorganic away from the foul liquid he tries to get away as far as he can while the ground under him rocks and rolls, almost throwing him around with just a tiny ability to keep going in the direction he wants to go. Even if he wasnt sure where that was.

Shaking himself Crell looks around again and tries to lift himself higher into the air as he moves faster and bumps into something hard.

Aster was really surprised to see a small bit of light inside the tall now-black organics. The slime had thought the hot light had eaten everything that it could find and then left, but it turned out that some of it was still here! How could that be? Aster didn't really understand, but didn't want to get any closer to the bits of light in order to find out. Even if there was only a small amount of it left, it could still hurt the slime, and Aster had no desire to be in pain if it could avoid it.

Aster's attention was then diverted as it heard a loud noise coming from above it. If it had to describe it to itself, it would say it was more like the rattlings the smaller slime had made than anything else, though not like that exactly. The slime looked up in the direction of the sound to see what was causing it, seeing the big slime crane its head in that direction as it heard the sound as well. It wasn't nearly as high up as the big slime, so it couldn't see it as well, but it definitely saw something big move around in the sky for a little while before leaving. From such a distance, Aster couldn't tell if the big thing was organic or not with any certainty, but it had learned to associate things that moved on their own as a characteristic of organics. The big loud thing was gone now, but might there be other organic things where it had been? Organic things were rarely on their own, Aster had learned. If the slime went towards the big loud thing's former location, would it be able to find food?

The bigger slime apparently thought so, because it took off in that direction. Aster still wasn't certain if it wanted the company of the other slimes right now, since it wasn't sure if they would be able to find enough food for all three of them as things were right now, but since this was the only thing Aster had seen that might be organic since all of the hot light, it decided that there was little point in trying to discourage the other two if they still wanted to travel together. They'd likely seen or at least heard the really big thing, and would likely be just as hungry as Aster, if not more so. So when the big slime returned to where Aster stood and the small slime was still trying to find something that might be organic without any success, Aster just chirped at the big slime and then headed off towards where the really big flying thing had been. The big slime was making some really odd movements, but Aster was pretty sure it wanted them to go towards the big thing's former location as it kept pointing parts of its body in that direction. It also seemed to want to pick up the little slime again. Aster didn't know what the little slime thought of that, but something deep within itself instinctively told it that that was something that it did not want to happen to itself. If it let the big slime pick it up, something bad might happen. It didn't know where that knowledge came from, but it knew it. No, Aster would much rather travel to its destination under its own power. Fortunately, the long legs it had chosen earlier allowed the slime to move quickly with a minimal expenditure of energy, and Aster was able to move at a pretty fast pace despite its relatively small size. It didn't know what was going on with the other two slimes, but that was their business. They'd catch up with it eventually, since there was really nowhere else to go.

Kind was back. And Unsure hadn't exactly left yet, which surprised Avisk. Kind was making odd clacking noises and pointing to the flying other thing in the sky. What was it doing? Was it dropping things? It sure looked like it may have dropped part of itself. Maybe that was food? Could it be?

Kind made another odd gesture interrupting Avisk's odd thoughts. Arms stretched out? Did that mean carrying again? Did Avisk like carrying? It hadn't died before, but, it also had been severely exhausted before. And Kind had just gotten over being injured. Would that be a good idea to carry it then? Maybe not. But then again, Kind could fly and Unsure was on the move. Without Kind or Unsure helping, or itself growing more, it had no way of actually keeping up efficiently.

Avisk rattled a bit, though the tone seemed more kind and almost like a thank you. Its color changed to a more pleasing color than its darker tired color it had somehow changed to. The slime climbed into Kind's outstretched arms and nestled itself comfortably so it knew for sure it wouldn't fall out. Hopefully it wouldn't fall out. That would be absolutely terrible, and Avisk wasn't too sure if Kind would be able to catch it.

Zeditha was happy that the small slime nestled into her arms. Closing them around the smaller slime, she prepared for a smooth takeoff. If wouldn't be a good idea to be rough - she could drop the small slime if she did that, and she didn't want it to be hurt. Not to mention that its shell was hard, and its spikes could end up in her if she wan't careful. She flew up carefully and wrapped the other two legs around the slime. She didn't need them while flying, and she wan't taking any chances. She made a nice rumbling sound (purr, housecat) and flew in the direction that the other large slime was running - towards the red-dropper.

OOC @ Zeditha: It isn't water. It's something totally super cool that I think all 3 of you would really like to have. I didn't even realize it was this awesome until I looked into it.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

@Avisk: The large slime seemed to be preoccupied with flight, and it didn't look like it noticed, but the slime saw something, barely. It couldn't see the ground very well at this height, so maybe it was wrong. But it looked like something moved under one of the burned tall-organic limbs that had fallen. Luckily they weren't that far away from the red stuff when it was sighted.

Because the slime was so far from the ground, it wasn't able to figure out how big the thing was that moved, if there even was anything.

@Aster: The slime quickly lost the ability to hear the loud big sky thing. It had heard it before and after it had seen it, but its loudness even became silent over a few moments as it went away. Judging by its loudness, if it was food, then there was more than enough for all of the slimes to feed and grow easily! But the slime getting some for itself was arguably more important. The slime tracked where to go by periodically looking at the other slimes in the air, and it looked like they were slowing down now. Maybe they were close? That meant Aster was close!

It didn't see any lights in front of it. Far to one side it did, but not there. Black puffy was everywhere, but mostly it was only gray in front of itself. Not as thick, either. The slime could actually see through that part.

@Zeditha: Carrying the small slime was relatively easy, but the slime was somewhat preoccupied looking for where the giant noisy red-dropping thing was, or where it had gone. It had come and gone, but its speed was something the slime could barely understand. It knew it was big because it didn't look small, and looked very far away, but...

Before the slime knew it, it had gotten to a near enough point to the red stuff on the ground that if it began gliding down now, it would reach its closest edge. The hot lights were not below; at least not there. It was like the red stuff made the lights go away. Feeling the heat and seeing the puffy come from the lights, it didn't look like going closer to the lights would be safe. Here would be okay, though.

@Crell: Flat. Hard and flat. It was the up-flat! The slime could see the edge of it, where it looked like it became only flat, kind of like it was on right now. That was the next part of where it was trying to go... it could see the other-colored shape above and to the side. If it could figure out how to get up this part, then it could get the much-desired organic. Hopefully it was organic.

These new bumps and curves were strange to The Slime and so was the new size. But it was still hungry. It slimmed off in search of new organic. It found something strange, the inorganic that had stopped it before was only on the sides and not the middle. The Slime could juuuuuuust squeeze through. The ground beneath it felt like lots of little inorganics that were warm. It also felt like something was pressing down on it, that wasn't organic or inorganic and it felt warm. Now the only thing to do was find organics.

Watching and moving back and forth on the flat he is on Crell makes clicking and annoyed noises as he looks for a way to get to the organics. Hunger starting to gnaw at his insides to add to the pain from the inorganic still burried inside himself. Moving to just under the colored things and looking around he bumps into the other flat a few times as he gets more and more annoyed and angry as he tries to get higher.

OOC @ Everyone: Okay! So before I do any updates, I need to say something.

Something good!

My programmer told me that I should start getting some stuff ready so we can make Azure Wyrm's web version! That means art and minigames. You can see the slime and watch it grow.

But because of how complex a lot of it will already be, I can only come out with one starting location for now. Others will follow.

Each player gets to vote ONCE. I'm only paying attention to votes that get sent to my INBOX. I require a vote from everyone.

Books, Dragonhatchling, Zeditha, Avialae- since all of you have at least two characters, you still only get to vote once.

The most popular location (Forest, Beach, Desert, Swamp, Sewer) will be the first starting zone release. The reason I am ONLY LISTENING TO PRIVATE MESSAGES is because that way it stays anonymous and also easy for me to look up without having to scroll around.

Aster began to be upset. Even though they seemed to be getting close to the place where the big creature had been, it couldn't tell if there was any food nearby. The big creature didn't seem to be coming back, and although it could see through some of the puffy, there was too much of it around for the slime to see very far. The large amounts of puffy meant that its nostrils were too full of the stuff to smell anything else easily, and there didn't seem to be any organic in the small area that it was able to see. The only thing it could really hear was the sound of the blackened organics under its feet and the sounds of the big slime moving its limbs above it in the up. What if Aster had come all this way only to find no food? Well, the slime wasn't going to leave without first making sure it had looked everywhere there was to look. It continued forward, analyzing the ground beneath it as it passed through to make sure there was no organic hidden anywhere as it went. It tried not to get close to the hot light that it could see, remembering how dangerous it was, but Aster found itself slowly drawing nearer to it nevertheless.

What Zeditha really wanted to do was fold up her wings and drop, but her passenger might not like that, so instead she angled her wings downwards and spiralled around, slowly. She could still see some traces of the red, among where the cracklings had been. It looked almost as though some cracklings were still there, but they were getting smaller. Nothing left to destroy, it seemed - and also the red was getting in the way. Suddenly, it seemed really tasty. Zeditha's beak opened in anticipation of eating it, and she wondered what it tasted like. It gradually got warmer as she descended, but she angled herself away from the largest cracklings remnants and it was bearable. She set her eyes on a particular bit of the red, and set the small slime down, landing just one slime-length away. She then proceeded to snap up as much of the red as she could manage in one beakful, before absorbing it and then bringing back some more for the small slime. She put it on the floor between them.

((It gets confusing, just a little - Zeditha named fire Cracklings based on the noise, but you keep calling them hot lights. xd.png))

Avisk rolled a bit unexpectedly when something gave way from when Kind set it down. It didn't go very far at all, only a small slide, and that puffed up some of the red stuff into the air. The slime opened its mouth, letting that fall back onto the slime and somewhat into the mouth-gap it had. Kind landed not very far away. Good.

Kind had brought back more red too, and set it down. The small slime dove right into it, being small enough, which sent some into the air and some of it right into the slime's opened mouth. This also ended up getting blackened not-tasty fragile things that had been under the red. It didn't spit that out, even though it tasted rather awful, and wondered if that was something else it could absorb. That tasted slightly organic still even through all the charred mess.

But where was Unsure? Avisk perked up a bit. Unsure wasn't around yet. Had they lost Unsure?

As Aster was frantically nosing around looking for food, it heard a loud thump, and realized that the big slime had come down from the up and was now on the ground again, the small slime next to it. They seemed to be . . . eating? Food? Had they found food?! Aster hurried over to their location, and saw that they seemed to be drinking out of a puddle of red that was pooled across the ground. Aster wasn't sure what it was. It didn't smell like anything the slime had encountered before, but it was at least partially organic, so it would do for now. The big slime had let Aster eat food that it had gathered before, so Aster decided to try to do so again, and lowered its snout near to the ground and began to drink. It was difficult for Aster to absorb the red at first with the body that it currently had, but eventually it figured out that if it lowered its neck but held its head parallel to the ground and shoved it forward it could get some of the liquid in its mouth that way, and absorb it from there. The red didn't do much to sate the slime's hunger, but it was a start.

@Serket: The circle was surrounded with organic, but the slime had already discarded that as available food. The circle wasn't anywhere near as long as the slime suspected, though, and it was through it in very little time! On the other side, the slime found dry. Dry, with more organic that tasted nearly the same, but also the circle widened significantly. Feeling around a little, it found something... very, very soft.

For a moment, the slime halted when it encountered the softness. It used this pause to test the texture, trying to find the taste of organic. The edges of the circle had widened to the touch of soft, and for a second it seemed as though the slime might backtrack, back to familiar ground and familiar textures and tastes. Then the slime continued onward, moving itself closer to the softness, stretching its negligent mass across the texture, committing the pattern to whatever kind of memory it possessed at the moment. It would turn this new softness into a familiar sense soon enough, but first, it looked for organic. There was more organic, a good organic taste! It was there, hidden in the softness. The slime began to absorb it.

OOC WOW! I didn't think either of you were coming back, Ravencrime and Lumikkja. Glad to see you.

@Zeditha: Yeah, different slimes have different names for the same thing. I can't even keep the stories straight in my head (which is why I made the Big File) so I just call it whatever and let you replace mentally what I was supposed to have said smile.gif All that kind of confusion will go away (probably) once everyone can speak and understand human language. That isn't happening yet, though. But yes, everyone will eventually be able to speak.

@Ravencrime: I'll ask you to have a minimum post of three sentences from this point forward. That goes for everyone else, too!

@Lumikkja: Yep! You're good.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

@Atrocitas: The slime wasn't hungry anymore, not by a longshot (it was quite full) and it wasn't learning anything new from the wet and somewhat foul-tasting sweet paste-like substance. It felt gooey. The organic, flat wall next to the stuff, now that the slime had absorbed its way down, even felt soggy and easily able to be pushed through, even without trying.

@Serket: (unlocked: silk) The slime couldn't tell what it was, but whatever the thing was, it was very, very smooth. Flimsy. Was it a kind of skin? If it was, it didn't make sense, but somehow did. Pushing on the thing made it collapse, but then when the slime moved off from it, it went back to how it was, or at least that's how it felt. The slight taste test the slime got from brushing against it told it that it was organic!

@Avisk: The brittle, depleted, hard, warm, dry.... what used to be organic (was it still?) actually did start helping the slime to decrease its hunger, though not by as much as it would have if it wasn't burned to near uselessness. But being charred like this made it far easier to consume, and it was able to dissolve the parts it got inside itself at a faster rate than normal, too! But the stuff all over, around, and under the slime was very strange. It felt soft, smooth, and when the slime touched parts of it, it flattened and wasn't fluffy anymore. It tasted like it wasn't organic. Well, at least it was wet and that made the heat more bearable.

@Aster: This was the strangest liquid the slime had ever encountered! It was wet, but felt like the puffy that came off the hot light looked. But unlike the puffy, this was heavy. Well, heavy enough that it stayed on the ground, and everything else it fell on top of. Which was now all of the slimes, who were eating, and in some cases (the small slime) flinging themselves into. But it tasted like the ground. A little different, sure, but that's the closest flavor the slime had yet encountered that felt like the right description. It... was it even organic?

@Zeditha: The red was not organic, or if it was, it wasn't helping the slime satiate its hunger. But it noticed that the small slime, now mostly buried in the puffy red stuff (which the slime just realized that the red was some sort of wet puffy that somewhat flattened when touched) had found something. The slime could hear it eating something. Something other than the red. But it didn't see what it was.

@Crell: The slime couldn't get on top of the ledge no matter how much it tried. It tried, and fell. It tried again, and fell. It did it a bunch of times, but then it felt something else. There was another part, only halfway as tall, and that the slime did manage to reach and pull itself onto. The slime hadn't seen it earlier because all of its colors matched the surroundings and the slime couldn't see outside of the wet very well. But it could tell it was getting closer to the different colored shape now, and it would be an easy thing to do because of the small set of reachable ledges next to one another. But how to...

Everything shifted aggressively, and the slime nearly fell from its perch. Something DID fall, though, and that was the differently-colored shape. Only one half of it fell, though. But it hit a thing the slime hadn't seen previously, and that fell even further.

@Selim: The center of the thing had a lot of a curl to it, and got narrower and narrower. But the slime couldn't get in all the way. That was okay; it was at least able to absorb the hard organic thing (the back part wasn't hard) that was within the inorganic... was it fully inorganic? Inorganic organic. The slime was able to absorb the organic thing from inside. That's what mattered most. Something wet touched the slime, then shoved the slime forcefully, making it move. The slime felt the grainy ground beneath it, but now it was somewhat covering the slime!

Zeditha decided that even if it wasn't organic, she was going to absorb it anyway. She hadn't come all this way for nothing!

The small slime buried in the red caused an unintentional noise to come from her beak. It was like a quiet rumble. She quickly decided that it was a happy noise, and continued to make it. She also jumped a little. The small slime was nice, and she was helping it!

((Avisk is flattered smile.gif ))

Avisk noticed the rumbly noise from Kind and wasn't quite sure what to make of that. It had not heard that noise before. But noticing that also showed Unsure to be in the area. And quite content with trying to absorb the odd red fluffy-puffy-flat-stuff. The small slime, meanwhile, had dove under the red flattened part again and accidentally smashed into a thicker chunk of the charred thing it had recently eaten.

That unearthed the charred thing which was now mostly above the red flattened fluffy-puffy-flat-stuff. Avisk made a note that that name was a very long annoying name. It smushed itself into the charred part again, moving it slightly more toward Kind and Unsure. They should have some of it since Avisk had accidentally ate some and now felt a little better. They needed food too. Avisk hadn't forgotten. And just to show them that, the small creature tore off a bit larger section that was easier to break. The action sent it rolling on the ground with the piece in its mouth, into another pile of red fluff that now fell back down and blanketed the slime.

The only movement was now the fluff that had covered the slime as the slime absorbed more of the charred and righted itself again. Just to try it, the small creature tried to produce flame and found that with this red stuff on top of it, the flame was no use. It didn't even show up. That was a good sign for the fire that was inevitably still around somewhere. And that, that caused Avisk to wonder where Angry had gotten to. Had Angry burned? Avisk shook, seeming angry itself for a very brief moment. It hoped Angry had burned. Those small shinies were meant to be its. Angry had taken its shiny and Avisk still badly wanted that back.

But the brief anger subsided just as quickly. Avisk rolled playfully back to Kind and Unsure, smacking itself into the charred bit and knocking off a more solid piece that was about to fall off any way.

Aster scooped up another mouthful of the puffy red, trying to determine if it was organic or not. After it absorbed that, it determined that the puffy red wasn't organic after all, or at least mostly wasn't. Aster had come all that way for nothing! That realization made the slime angry, and thinking about anger made it think about the puffy that it was able to make, that was sometimes the same color as this red puffy here. But it didn't stick to the ground, the slime remembered. Aster blew out a stream of its own red puffy and watched as it slowly drifted off, trying to determine how it was different from this red puffy. It definitely seemed to be thinner, and it didn't fall to the ground. As Aster watched its puffy float off, it noticed that the small slime had found a large piece of burned organic - it was so burned the slime couldn't tell what sort of organic it was - and was playing with it, absorbing parts of it as it did so. One part broke off as the smaller slime grappled with it. Aster didn't particularly want to eat anything so badly charred, but it was hungry, so it grabbed the smaller piece of organic in its jaws. The piece was too big for Aster to absorb all at once, so the slime bit it in half and swallowed the first half before picking up the second one that had fallen down into the puffy. The organic was so burnt Aster had no idea what it was it was eating, but it was better than nothing. Aster stuck its snout down into the liquid puffy and pulled out another piece of charred organic from the ground, different from what the smaller slime was eating. The slime would eat just until it wasn't hungry anymore, than set out for better tasting food.

Pushing on the thing made it collapse, but then when the slime moved off from it, it went back to how it was, or at least that's how it felt. The slight taste test the slime got from brushing against it told it that it was organic!

Organic... skin but maybe not? Weak and fragile, easy to push away, but it still had the organic substance that the slime needed. It had good texture, even if it was flimsy, and the slime made the sensation familiar. Next time it encountered this kind of softness it would know it was good, it had organic. But if it was skin, or like skin, where was the warmth that should be there? There should be warmth. The slime did not understand why, but something told it that there ought to be warmth, where there was skin. If this was not skin it wouldn't be a problem, but if it was...?

Perhaps there was more organic. The slime had collapsed the soft, but it still clung to the sides of the smooth earthen texture that surrounded the slime and the skin-but-not-skin. It clung, and when the slime brushed against it again, it felt a movement. Still settled against the softness, but unmoving, the slime waited. The skin-not-skin trembled. There was something else here, something organic, or at least the slime's instincts told it so. They could very well be wrong, but at the time the slime did not understand 'wrong'.

It waited for a single moment longer, and then pushed onwards, following the flimsy-softness towards the tremble.

Zeditha rumbled harder when the small slime rolled into her. Then she stopped. "The small slime" was too long - "Small" would do. She looked to the other slime and decided that... she couldn't decide what to call it. Well, it ran a lot, so why not "Runner"? That was fine.

Then she noticed that the other slimes were eating something, and she stepped over to investigate, rumbling again as she stepped over the still-rolling Small. She stuck her beak into the red, absorbing some of that but also finding something that had been got by the Cracklings. It seemed organic so she ate it, but it was too Crackled to sate her hunger. She grabbed another quick beakful of red before flying off again, sharp eyes scanning for any remaining signs of life.

OOC @ Zeditha, Avialae, and Dragonhatchling: Okay, so I don't know exactly where your eyes were all looking, but if you were able to see one another while you initially started to consume the red stuff, then you would have seen each other's bodies change from whatever color/s it was, to red, then back again. Kind of like a small wave that started where the stuff was first touched, throughout the form, then cease. Very quickly. Because all of your faces were so close to the red, I doubt you would have noticed your own change. But you started unlocking one of the coolest things I've found so far!

---------------------------------------------------------------------

@Zeditha: Shortly after the slime took to the air, its superior vision became aggravated, and not just by the impossible amounts of black puffy in the air, hurting its eyes. Something glimmered. Something shiny. Just for a moment...

But spotting it was obvious, even amidst all the destruction and ongoing danger. The cracklings were still all around the shiny thing, but there weren't organics- not even parts of the tall ones that fell and made the ground black. There wasn't anything but ground. No, moving out of the way of a cut-in-half thick, black organic, the slime saw that there were other shapes. Pile-like shapes. But they were in a circle. No where near where the cracklings would probably get to. The shiny thing wasn't one thing, but two.

The Angry slime was there. It had curled itself around the two shiny things, and was well away from the cracklings. It didn't seem to have noticed the slime. Where were the two not-threat slimes? Angry moved one of its wings and covered the two shiny spheres, but still didn't seem aware of the slime's gaze. What kind of things were those near Angry? Organics might even be in them.

@Avisk: (unlocked: charcoal) The strange red puffy-flat stuff and burned organic was starting to satiate the slime. That was good! Something else, though. The slime felt itself start to change. It hadn't even intended that, though. The pokey parts it had woven within its scales on its back felt like they were.. growing. Kind wasn't visible now, and Unsure was nearby, shoving the pieces of black into itself, but it seemed to rub the black into the red before consuming it. Was the slime seeing things? Was it intentional? Well, at least two of the slimes were starting to find the food they desperately needed, so... but where was the other one?

@Aster: (unlocked: charcoal, black pigment) Something strange! Lots of things were strange, every situation, actually. But this was really strange. The slime could tell that the burned and charred... whatever it was, barely had anything within it worth consuming. But the red puffy stuff was different too. But even more important was the combination of the two! Consuming the red on its own didn't mean much. Consuming the burned stuff didn't mean much. But when the slime had both of them in its mouth at once, consuming both at the same time- it felt something. The red stuff was somehow affecting the black stuff. It... was making it.. more worth consuming.

@Crell: (unlocked: white-throated needletail) Finally! The organic was definitely organic, but it tasted... no, it FELT dry. Very dry. Dry and hard. But it was at least organic, and the slime was having very little trouble tearing pieces of it apart. Though it was indeed hard and dry, it also seemed to be able to be destroyed rather easily for some reason. It didn't taste fresh at all, like it had been there for a very long time. But now that the slime had what it wanted, it was able to notice something else. The flat ledge it was on wasn't actually all that flat. It was rather soft, especially compared to the bottom-most flat part. Not only that, but it was organic.

@Serket: Something hard was poking out of part of the smooth-skinned organic. Whatever it was, it seemed to be organic, too. Hard and thick. At least compared to what the slime had experienced so far. It wasn't sharp though, so it only caused mild irritation instead of pain. The thing trembled again, but the slime was paying much more attention now, focusing the entirety of itself on the movement. It wasn't the organic that had trembled. It was the circular ground that the slime had entered that moved! Luckily it didn't move much. But some of it slid along the organic skin, and was gone. It was on the bottom of the circular enclosure now.

It was on the bottom of the circular enclosure now.

It seemed like the entire environment around the slime had shifted. The circle, the smoothness, and this new, hard organic texture... the slime pursued the nearest movement, the sliding movement that pulled to the bottom of the circle. It pulled and tensed as the slime moved itself towards the center of the movement, to the hard, thick, irritating organic. The irritation brought a sense of familiarity, similar to the first organic the slime had encountered. Almost sharp, but not quite. The slime neared the circle's end, sliding over the soft-skin, and moved itself close to the organic.

While the slime's attention was drawn to the circle's curve, the smoothness, and the trembling motion surrounding the new textures, it began to shift its focus to the hard, to the new, the strange. Organic. Organic was good, even if it created irritation. Still distantly aware of the trembling, the slime pushed itself up against the hard organic texture. The irritation returned again, and the slime could feel the thing shudder. The shudders seemed to travel all through the smoothness, creating new tremors that distracted the slime for a moment.

Then the new organic squirmed, and the slime began to absorb it.
