Holly Poll Who has what?

I have been attempting to catch a second one today also so I could give it to my daughter, but I don't think that's happening, since the one I have was gifted to me.

 

I've heard a lot of people say they won't be breeding their hollies until Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, so don't give up.

Simultaneously bummed and happy that my Holly bred only one egg - bummed because I wanted 4 to give out and happy that I did get at least one to give to a person who's been waiting on my list for 3 years!

 

I'm assuming that the more Hollies there are on scrolls, the fewer we'll be able to breed. In previous years I've gotten clutches of 3 or 4 eggs (IIRC).

The best way to get a holly is to get one through a trade or gifting and you need to set it up long before xmas comes around because that is when everyone starts asking for one.

As a rough estimate of the 'amount of time' I promised my Holly offspring off in February 2010 for 2011 and 2012. My advice is:

1) Get an IOU early. The majority of people are honest and will fulfill their IOUs. Be it through the trading centre or whatnot. DO NOT wait until Christmas: the cave is blocked so you can't hunt for valuables. Furthermore, people who have already caught/bred Hollies are unlikely to accept IOUs that you give; since it's a valuable dragon and EVERYONE is looking for them.

 

2) It is at least advisable to /attempt/ getting into contact with a user/several users who own them. Try not to be a sociophobe. Not everybody bites, and socialising on the IRC (while forming connections) is more productive than complaining about being unable to catch the dragons -> FFAs are also announced here.

 

However, remember also that the impression that people form of you in public, in a forum, in a digital footprint may damage your chances of getting a Holly. I'm - well we're - human and I heard that one owner got so fed up last year about begging/complaining/screaming or something that they refused to breed their dragon altogether -.-

okay, here is a little story about my little holy.

 

 

after i vote for no holly, I search for any possible trade or gifer might give one to me. (but I only pm 1 person and i did give my offer, so it is a trade more than a "beg")

 

Then, in one of the trading post, i saw someone puts up a holly for hatchies!

I had my gold tinsel hatchies on my scroll so I think that can give a try.

 

Surprisingly, the teleport is one-way instead of 2 way!!

I quickly type in my password before i can figure out what's going on.

 

And there is my holly egg, sitting on my scroll.

 

I then pm the person, explaing what happen and hoping he will accept this trade.

 

To my another surprise, this person is the first time who join this X'mas event and in the reply message, he said, holly is easy to catch!!!!

That really shocks me, and he said he had seen like 50 holly in AP.

He call it as a Holly attack in the AP!!

and that is last for 10~20 sec!!???

 

It is too hard for me to believe until he said DC is holding up the holly and release them when the amout of holly rise.

 

I have no idea where this idea comes from.

 

In the end, I sent my silver tinsel egg and my gold tinsel to him as a trade.

 

I just wondering what did the person see...it is too hard to believe there is holly attact in the AP!

I'm still working on the list I've had since 2008.... Fortunately, some are having luck getting an egg off the AP or arranging a trade with someone else who doesn't have a list. My point is, some people truly do not have room on their lists, especially now that you can only guarantee one via teleport (and I'm glad to have one "guaranteed" transfer, since even giving the getcodes in prior years did not in any way guarantee that the recipient would catch the egg - far from it!). I have added people to my list this year, but the likelihood that they'll get an egg straight from me is pretty low. Unless we all play this game for a decade!

(though if I die I honestly don't know if I'd be allowed to include my scroll in my will, )

Sadly, the thing about only being able to gift one from a list means I can't breed and drop for many people ;~;

I saw some today but still no Holly has taken up residence on my scroll:( To think it will be going on 5 years of trying and getting nothing but that frustrating old tiresome saying. Wish people that have stuck it out with DC for 5 years get one as a reward for being with them for that long.

 

I did nab a gold tinsel egg. Wish getting a holly was that easy:(

I feel terrible for the people that have had no luck -- I'd love to spread the magic, but my list is borderline full. I need to update it and PM the people on it to make sure they know that I'm taking them off because they already have one. :/

I've been trying to get one for YEARS. Haven't been able to snatch one off the AP. Haven't been able to get one from someone. Haven't even gotten an IOU for one. It's driving me CRAZY! I have every other holiday dragon, except this one! RARGH!

 

If I had one, I'd breed it and send the eggs to the AP for whatever lucky soul to snatch.

I have no hollys, couldn't get em last year or the year before. They are so darn elusive! I keep seeing them, but just can't snag even one! I would LOVE to have one! I would breed ANYTHING I have for one! T.T

Unfortunately, in all of my time on DC, have never had the luxury of even catching sight of a Holly on the AP, despite my constant roving. They have an expert knack for showing up when I can't be at the computer.

 

I feel paranoid that the breeders are spying on me, waiting for the perfect time to drop when I leave. @_@

I saw one holly at the very beginning, but haven't seen any since ._. But im so happy because I managed to get 2 of each holiday and before that I had zero holidays! so even though I got no holly,im still very fortunate <3

Saw at least a dozen Hollies not long after breeding started in the AP at various points within the first two hours. Clicked on at least 5 and all were snagged already. No luck so far this year.

 

That and saw someone lucky enough to be gifted one last night in chat.
