Pern: A World of Dragonriders and Dragons

Soria raised an eyebrow in thought. Propriety said she should be addressed with a title, but that just wasn't how Soria prefered it to be. "It's up to you really. I mean, i prefer for everyone to simply call me Soria, but there are some who refuse. I'll have to ask Heedana about that. Until I do, just call me Soria."

Sor, don't forget to grab the spare pouch for her to use. You said before that the next time you attended a fire lizard hatching you'd give it to the person the fire lizards bonded to. You still have the one your father gifted you with. Atisith sounded with amusement reflected in her swirling eyes. Next to Talea and Rebekah, Soria flushed in rememberance as she looked at the pouch on her belt. The new pouch of green threaded with silver had been a gift from her father when she'd sent home a missive telling her him of the man, the gold dragon and the fire lizards that had snagged her heart.

In reply her father had comssioned a pouch of sturdy leather dyed green and sewn with a silver dyed thread. On the pouch's out cover a gold dragon was emblazoned in flight. The image was a nearly perfect image of Atisith's first flight six months ago with the others. To the right side of the dragon the silver medal letter 'K' intwined with an emerald 'S'. Once the flap of the pouch was lifted a bronze medal 'H' was held to the leather by golden colored thread shaping the letter 'A'.

Soria had broken down into tears when she'd recieved the gift, knowing how much it must have cost her family to give it to her. recently she'd been collecting the hide from the Atisith's diner's and tanning them. The result was four pairs of comfortable boots. The art of learning to tan the hides had been time consuming and had taken greatly from her sleep, but had been an over all success. Soria felt tears prick her eyes at the thought of the gift and sent Ananke to fetch the spare pouch of standard browns and black leather.

Talea watched Soria and Rebekah carefully. Titles? She had to learn titles too? She would have to find T'lom in his free time. He could probably teach her everything she needed to know. Rebekah seemed to be a very proper girl, and Talea began to wonder about the girl's origins. It definitely couldn't have been Crom Hold. Manners were myths there, and she was rather glad that she had left the worst parts of it before she became old enough to understand some of the real hardships of that hold. She felt sorry that she had left T'lom there, but he seemed to have left all that in the past. She made a mental note to not remind him about it.

There was a Queen egg in the clutch this time. She didn't know how many, but she looked at Rebekah and could see the girl wanted this badly. Seeing past her shy outer layer, she saw a girl that truly loved dragons down to the little Fire Lizard egg she held. Would this be a trait that the Hatchling would look for? Only time would tell.

T'lom smiled at K'leb before the young man dashed off to chastise one of his Riders. S'rem had always been a clumsy boy as T'lom had remembered. He considered himself somewhat lucky; he had gotten a lot of the especially intelligent and able Riders for his wing, especially Ezran. She never seemed to make mistakes. The rest of his Riders hadn't had much trouble learning, and K'leb's Riders were almost as great, but they were all miles ahead of some of the other wings. T'lom shouted a few orders and had his wing complete some maneuvers before he felt Feyth become tired and his own strength starting to fade. Some of the other Riders seemed like they could use the rest of the day off, so he finally had them land before he dismissed them. T'lom then directed Feyth to their weyr before he leapt off Feyth and landed softly on the ground. He began undoing the straps on Feyth's side as he wondered how Talea must be doing.

She is confused and needs guidance. You need to teach her about the weyr, for she still lives in the world of Runnerbeasts. I'm certain she will Impress, though. The Hatching should be soon. I can feel it. Feyth nudged his companion on the shoulder before he returned to watching the patterns of light reflectin off the waters on their ceiling.

Rebekah nodded. "Very well, Soria." she said, then turned very slightly to see Talea looking at her. She couldn't imagine why; she was a simple girl, and for that matter, rather small. She gave up trying to figure everything out, and smiled at her, still shy. There was no way she would ever not be confused, she told herself. But someday, someday, she might know everyone she should and know everything she should... why, someday, she might go defend the Hold from which she had come, against Thread, burning them to a crisp, a-dragonback! Grimly, she chastised herself. There should be no more of this daydreaming she had gotten in such trouble about. The only thing she should be thinking of right now was what was directly in front of her, what she needed to do, what she needed to say.

"Alright, then. Atisith says I'm walking to slow. So, come on." Soria grinned at both girls before releasing them and starting a brisk walk toward Atisith. When she saw the entrance to her weyr, Ananke flitted out into the hall with the leather pouch Soria had asked for. Catching the pouch, Soria tucked it into her belt and led Talea and Rebekah to where Atisith was waiting. "Alright, ladies who needs help up?"

K'leb, Soria wishes to talk to you about her trip she's been planning. Where do you want me to tell her to meet you? Atisith mummered to the bronze rider.

Rebekah nodded and walked faster. When they arrived at the place where Atisith was, -Soria's weyr, she told herself- she gaped. Atisith was huge, not to mention beautiful! She closed her mouth. "You look wonderful, Atisith." she murmured, very softly. Then she looked at Soria. "I think I can get up myself, but I am not sure where I am to sit." she said uncertainly. Then she looked back at Talea. Even if she did know where to sit, she would never think of going before someone else. With a very slight nod of her head, she gestured that she would go last.

(edit: I'm going to wait until BlueApollo posts before I do. It's been Rebekah-Soria-Rebekah-Soria etc. Talea needs a turn. tongue.gif)

Soria giggled as Atisith preened under the praise. She thought back to when she'd first seen Tileth. She'd given Tilleth much the same look. Bouncing a step in place, Soria motioned to Atisith's back with a hand. "It'll be fine. Once the two of you are up there, it won't be hard for me. Atisith and I can adjust accordingly. I'll have you between myself and Talea since we're a bit taller then you.Oh, and Atisith thanks you for the complement."

I was begining to think you had ignored me, Sor. Atisith lowered herself to her stomache to make it easier for Soria and the canidates to climb to her back. Soria repeated what Heedana had done for her and climbed up to her place on Atisith's back before Readying herself to help the girls up.

Ezran landed with sweat dripping from her brow. "I hate the sun sometimes." she muttered to Jubilath who laughed with her rider. Ezran looked around at the others as they lead their dragons to their weyrs and followed Jubilath to theirs. She quickly stripped her dragon of her straps and then let her go to swim in the pools. After doing so she felt a nagging at the back of her mind then looked outside. Jerome was following a rising green and it was his first... Ezran tried her best to hold back the passions, but it was of no use. She leaned against the wall concentrating on the coolness of the wall.

K'leb was flying still when he had released all but S'rem. He landed next to him and would run him and his dragon tired for being lazy to each other. "DO you both understand that if this was a real flight, you two would have been dead?" he said to them as they flew to meet him. THey both meekly answered yes. "Then what I am assigning is 30 takeoffs with taking off and putting on your straps until you can get it into your thick skull that what you do means life and death. NOW GET TO IT!" he shouted angrily. His anger although, was more out of fear for everyone's safety not just S'rem's. Hethath crooned to his rider as the blue one took off again and again. I hear what your saying Hethath....Tell...I mean I'll just go ahead and tell her....if you could please land? Of course K'leb. Hethat responded with a slight smirk as he hissed to the blue rider to keep going. Dragons were posted around him to watch him. They hissed at him every time he did something wrong. Atisith love, tell Soria that I will visit her weyr soon or if she want she can just relay the messages. He said with as much calmness as he could muster.

Heedana kept walking nodding at the new brown riders and was soon finished. SHe stood at the end of the hallway transfixed by the reflections of the water.

Soria made a delighted noise when Atisith told her of K'leb's response. She asked Atisith to inform K'leb for her as Soria was preparing to escort Talea and Rebekah to the barracks. That is if you don't mind, Atisith. Knowing me as well as I do, I'll bumble it all up.

Of course its alright. Atisith's reply was merry before she focused her attention on K'leb. It's nothing bad, K'leb. Soria wanted to invite you along to Lemos tomorrow morning. Her sister, Feygia has had her baby and Soria thought you might like to accompany her. Oh, yes, and her mother wanted to give you a gift in person. I believe my dear rider forgot about that.

Talea climbed onto Atisith's back. She was amazed by the dragon's size, but she hid her awe with a serious expression as she focused on mounting the large dragon. She noted Rebekah's manners and how she let Talea go first. That girl definitely wasn't a noble. Maybe a servant....

T'lom began oiling Feyth, the dragon half-closing his eyes in pleasure. It was quiet for a few minutes before T'lom felt something strange within him. He almost collapsed as an overhwleming amount of emotion washed over him. Lira! T'lom just barely saw his green Fire Lizard soar out of the weyr before he felt another wave of emotion. Feyth nudged his Rider, concerned for the boy. The dragon understood what was going on, but he was clueless as to what to do. T'lom dug his fingers in his fists and pushed himself against the wall of the weyr. It'll have to end soon.

Soria scooted a bit foreward once Talea was settled to make room for Rebekah. Once she was confident in her balance she reached a hand down as far as she could to help Rebekah climb up. A kind smile etched itself on Soria's mouth as she looked at the younger girl. "You coming up, Rebekah? It'll be a quick flight, but I'm sure you'll enjoy it. right, Talea?"

K'leb smiled as he felt the brush of Atisith's mind against his own and Hethath's. The mere touch made Hethath rumble in pleasure. I think that it would fun to go and meet them....although I feel ashamed that she hasn't met my family yet. I think that they would scare them away! Hethath commented concernedly. K'leb laughed and slapped Hethath's shoulder in a comradely way before arriving where he thought that Atisith would land. Tell Soria yes. And that I look forward to meeting her sister, neice, and parents. It was at this moment, that K'leb's little brother and youngest sister, Kaba and Klesaba, came and entwined themselves around his legs. He fell over and soon three more children were on top of him and they were playing around. The other three were Gelor, Geka, and Kles.

Ezran tried to breath and looked out the edge of the weyr clinging to Jubilath's neck. "Whose bloody green is it." she said as she went weak in her knees and her vision nearly faded from the passion of her little blue. Jubilath rumbled in her chest trying to calm her rider. It's T'lom's green. "Lira?!" she nearly shouted and clenched her teeth almost to their breaking point. She wanted to run to fly with Jerome and yet she wanted to be with T'lom in his arms as their firelizards flew together. F'nor had told her that usually when firelizards fly, their owners if they are of opposite sexes would usually...well....she hated the word and she hated that F'nor told her and she hated him...hated Jerome....hated T'lom.... Jerome was outflying a few browns and other blues that were flying after Lira. She was amazed that her usually lazy fellow showed such energy.

Atsith rolled her eyes into Soria's mind when Soria gave an excited squeal. The gold rider could be a stickler for decorum one moment, and a untamed youth the next. Soria sighed at Atisith and reminded the dragon, that Atisith was honestly no different. Soria huffed and turned her attention back to Rebekah. She'd wait till Atisith realised what that meant for the dragon before she spoke to Atisith again.

Rebekah took Soria's hand, and was on Atsith in a moment. She settled herself in between the others. She smiled. Atsith was so majestic. And to think that she might Impress a dragon, even if it wasn't as large as her! She playfully whacked her own leg. It didn't matter as much now, she supposed, if she let her imagination run a touch farther than normal, now that she was out of the Hold. She looked at Soria. "I am ready when you and Talea are." she said.

Soria gave a wide grin to the girls. With a quick movement she gave Atisith the signal to take off. Atisith stood and with a burst of effort was off the weyr balcony and in the sky. Deciding to give Talea and Rebekah a treat, Atisith flew around the weyr twice before landing in front of the barracks. After Atisith was firmly on the ground and resting on her stomache, Soria dismounted from Atisith's back far more effectively then the first time the queen rider had rode on Tilleth. Turning bak to look up at the girls, Soria smiled and readied herself to help them down. "Okay, ladies. Time to get that fire lizard hatched. "

Rebekah debated about how to get off Atisith. She went with going carefully down her side, ending in a heap on the ground. She unfolded her legs and stood. "My egg might hatch this soon?" she asked. She smiled, happy that she just might soon hold a fire-lizard.

Soria shrugged and leaned against Atisith while she waited on Talea. "Maybe. I honestly don't know. What I do know is if you have one you have to do somethings for them."

Soria reached out for Hethath and gave him a mental hug. She showed Hethath to see her parents at Atisith's insisstance. Deciding to change the subject, Soria picked the first question to ask Hethath that popped in her head. How are you doing today, Hethath?

The view was breathtaking for Talea as Atisith flew over the weyr, but she found herself not too comofrtable so high up in the air. She seriously preferred Runnerbeasts, and she hid her sigh of relief when they landed. She leapt off of Atisith before she turned to Rebekah, ready to lead the girl to the barracks. That Fire Lizard egg wasn't going to survive much longer without a home.

T'lom pressed himself against the wall, fingernails digging into the stone to keep himself from jumping out of his weyr. He felt like he could fly in the heat of the moment, but his subconscious, intelligent side knew it was suicide. He could feel the race coming to a close, but it only heightened his feelings. What had F'nor told them about Fire Lizard matings? They weren't as spectacular as dragon matings, but what were the bonded ones supposed to do? Oh...that's right. The thought nearly pushed him over the edge as another wave of emotion hit him. Lira sent him the image of a blue soaring before the rest, defeating the odds and even a few browns to win the race. T'lom sighed, knowing it was going to come to a close soon. He hoped it would go faster, though. He could feel Feyth's concern in the back of his mind, but it was constantly being overpowered. He felt the tension slow finally. It was all over.

You look like a mess, my friend. Go wash up. Feyth nudged his Rider as T'lom managed to balance himself on barely functioning legs. I hope by the time I have a flight you won't be so poorly prepared. And I hope you're not alone. Feyth's chuckling voice remained in T'lom's head as the dragon took off from the Weyr. The boy found a mirror and stared at himself in it. His hair was a tousled mess, and he was soaked with sweat. His whole body still trembled from time to time, and his eyes were bloodshot. This was only a green fire lizard! Can you imagine what it'll be like when when Feyth flies! You'll kill yourself! T'lom looked away from the mirror. Or you'll share the experience...

Rebekah nodded. "As far as I know, it might hatch any time now. I'll see what it looks like now." She reached into her little bag, only as big as her head, with a drawstring. When her arm came back out, it held a small blanket, folded up. Carefully she unfolded it, and a green egg was revealed. She stared at it. "Please tell me I didn't break it!" she said, for it had fine cracks running all through it. "Just be hatching, little one." she murmured, cradling the egg.

Atisith looked at the egg Rebekah had shown them and began to hum in chorus with Ananke and Amphitere. After a moment Achronos and Astraios showed themselves and joined in. Amphitere, Ananke and Astraios took up spots on Soria, allowing them to watch the egg. Achronos draped himself around Rebekah's shoulders peeking at the little egg. Soria grinned as she watched. Now, if this doesn't bring back memories.

Rebekah carefully held the egg in both hands, hoping it would be okay if she held it instead of setting it on the ground. She smiled at the fire lizard around her neck, then resumed watching the egg. It started rocking, just before a fragment of the shell broke off. Then, a piece the size of her finger teetered and fell onto her hand. "You can get out of there, little one." she crooned. "Just keep at it." As if in response, a large chunk fell out, and a tiny head peeped through. Rebekah smiled, already loving this tiny creature. It tried to get all the way out, but had to rip off one more piece before it would fit. The small fire lizard looked around. Rebekah anxiously wondered if she should have had something to eat for the poor thing. It swiveled it's head towards her, and she gazed into it's small, emerald eyes. A niggling in her head arose. Smiling proudly, she looked at Soria and Talea. "Blira's thinking about food. Can we get her some?"

Soria nodded and bounced a bit toward the barracks. She handed Rebekah one of the meatrolls she was known for carrying. After handing it to Rebekah, soria started leading the girls. On Soria's head, Ananke made her self known by crooning to the little fire lizard, Blira. I requested a drudge bring some meat to your barrack. They should be there by now.

Rebekah took the offered meatroll and broke it into smaller pieces. She put one in front of Blira. She sniffed it, and then it was gone. Imploringly, Blira filled Rebekah's mind with pictures of more of this treat. Rebekah laughed and gave her the other sections as she walked. Blira looked at the other fire-lizard who was crooning at her. She responded with a melodic thrum. Rebekah followed Soria.

((this is gonna be long smile.gif ))

Ezran looked down at the floor where blood from her hands had been dripping to the ground. As the last wave of passion flew through and then from her body she nearly started crying but instead shoved the tears back into her heart and held them there. She was pale and she knew that she more than likely looked horrible. How do i look Jubilath? She asked her green who merely crooned. You look wonderful...that is if you want me to lie. Go take a bath...I hope that you wont be like this next time because...because you always hide things. Her concern was evident. Ezran told no one but Jubilath her feelings and emotions and that was only because the forest green dragon could sense everything. I know dear one...but I guess I am just waiting...I don't want to throw myself on anyone I never have. You have seen my memories jubilath. Any memories of a male closer than a friend..has ended in ruin. I can't trust them right now no matter how much I want to. The only one that seems trustworthy, well the only two, are K'leb and T'lom. K'leb is courting Soria and then T'lom...I don't think he likes me and I'm afraid if I trust him...I'd be let down.

But you have to learn. came her dragons insistent reply as she flew off her ledge and nearly collided with Feyth. She had admirings for the brown, and she knew that they flew greens. But she wasn't due to rise anytime soon and she knew that...but her concern for her rider was powerful. Sorry Feyth. she said distractedly as she landed on the beach next to the water. She stared at it vacantly her eyes whirling yellow and orange with worry and frustration.

Ezran sighed as she felt Jubilath fly away from her and walked into her bathroom. She nearl screamed at the sight of herself. Her hair was messed up considerably and her arms were also bleeding from when she hugged herself and scratched her arms. If this was a firelizard...how would she handle a true flight when Jubilath flew? It would be hard but the adults seemed to handle it pretty well. She sighed and shucked her clothes before slipping into the cool water that she had asked for. She poured some astringent into the water to clean her scratches and washed her hair with sandsoap and thoroughly cleaned every part of her body. When she was finished and dry, she sprang out of the tub and wrapped her wounds. They were small but hey enjoyed bleeding. After rumaging around in a towel for her beloved pants and riding shirts, she found that she had none and only had a decorative skirt and shirt left. The shirt was rather low and showed off her bust. She grimaced, but it would be better than walking around the weyr in nothing but her under clothes. She dressed in the light green shirt and tan skirt with shimmering green threads then slipped on her riding boots. After a moment she decided to give up on her hair and let it curl all over the place. Although, she did brush it back from her face so that it framed it. When she was finished, she was astonished with how she looked.

((basic look... http://i921.photobucket.com/albums/ad51/Io...ime/AWESOME.jpg ))

K'leb felt Soria arrive before he felt Atisith's landing and sent Atisith a friednly smile as he continued to romp around with his siblings. Hethath felt Soria's mind and smiled while crooning to her as she passed by. I am doing well little one. I cannot wait to visit your family and possibly spend some time with Atisith. He said as he looked to the larger queen.

((I forgive you, Lovelost!))

Talea smiled at the newly hatched Fire Lizard. She thought it was adorable, like a miniature dragon except cuter. She looked up just in time to see Soria leading them towards the barracks. She still had a few things to unpack, but she didn't want to get too settled in if she would have to leave the weyrling barracks soon. Her ears were constantly on the alert for the sounds of the beginning of a hatching, but she was let down over and over. She pushed a stray lock of hair behind her ear as she followed Soria.

Feyth nearly snarled at the green that nearly collided with him. Hey! Watch where you're...oh.... Feyth hovered above Jubilath for a moment, watching the green. He could tell that she had felt what Ezran had been going through with the rising. Even he hadn't escaped some of the passion Lira had sent through T'lom. He hoped the boy was okay, but he could sense that T'lom wasn't in the mood to speak at all. Finally Feyth landed beside Jubilath. He masked his own concern for T'lom by forcing his eye color to a hazy blue while he watched the quiet green stare at the water. It was only their first time. They'll be better prepared next time, I believe he said, trying to console the dragon and break the silence at the same time.

T'lom stared at the mirror for what felt like hours. It was only a few minutes, but he felt like he aged more than he ever had. He felt like an old man with too much experience. Why had he ever thought he was ready to be a dragon Rider? He could have gotten himself killed if Feyth wasn't there. Feyth wouldn't be there next time...What would happen then? You won't be alone next time. T'lom threw his knife into the mirror, shattering the glass and sending shards all across his bathroom. What if he was alone next time? What if a green rose while he was alone? He didn't want to be alone. What if? What if? What if? So many if's ran through his mind that he felt like he would explode. He finally managed to calm himself down and clean himself up. His eyes weren't as red anymore, and his hair was neatly combed now. He dressed in his usually brown clothes and put gloves on his hands to hide the scars. Nobody could know about how immature he had been with dealing with a Fire Lizard mating. They would all doubt him if Feyth followed a rising green. He sighed and finally left his weyr, making his way through the tunnels until he nearly bumped into Ezran. He looked up and was astonished to see how beautiful she looked. Usually she wore such skin-tight clothing that he was nearly embarrassed to look at her. Now she looked almost...normal.

"Hi...Ezran...." he managed to mumble. "Was that you're blue that?....Nevermind." He didn't know why he was bringing up the subject of Lira's rising, but suddenly he found his voice trapped. He didn't know what else to say.

You'll even get to meet Tintesk and the other whers. Oh, and don't let Atisith pretend she's not excited. But that's neither here nor there. I'll get back to once I finish helping Rebekah. Can you give K'leb my regards. Soria giggled at Hethath even as she sent a fond look in K'leb's direction. She huffed at Atisith when the gold advised Hethath to say love instead. feeling a little immature, Soria stuck her tongue out at the dragon. She turned back and walked into the barracks area. "This way ladies. Um, which room is your's?"
