Hatchlings

Others. She's fine. -Is all Zeditha said. She didn't have to explain herself. This delay wasn't her fault! And she would have been back soon enough so that Irah or the others couldn't get into any trouble, were it not for finding Crusher in such a poor condition. For now, she put what little faith her skeptical mind could offer into the responsibility of the other ones keeping Irah company, and in Irah herself. She seemed like a reasonable one. She wouldn't jump head-first into some reckless venture... so hoped Zeditha.

======[A SHORT WHILE LATER]======

That should be enough. -Torque said to himself, visibly pleased by the two deer he'd caught and herbs he'd gathered. Most of the greens were for himself, seeing as he's a frequent eater, but there was plenty. T'was enough for at least a day, counting Zeditha and all the hatchlings.

Heaving the caught provisions onto his back, Torque stomped on the ground twice for good measurement, and dashed off. Not thirty seconds later, he dashed past Zeditha and Crusher, headed towards the hatchlings to deliver his catch. By then, the Magi and Wyvern were half-way there, but there was still a steep climb ahead for them.

Hatchlings... The hatchlings... Everyone! I can't just leave them! I can't just fall asleep now! Mihari struggled to think as the abyss of darkness surrounded him, oblivious to anything going on. How would... Raven and R-Rimaline react to me collapsing? What about... Irah? Would they even notice? It became increasingly more difficult to recall the names of the dragons whom he was with. Maybe they wouldn't notice. They haven't tried waking me up yet, right? What if I didn't notice? Wait, hatchlings...? What hatchlings? I don't recall there being many hatchlings in the cave right now, but I did see a few around earlier. There seems to be quite a few eggs though.

Mihari was back in his home cave filled with dragons of all shapes and sizes. It was true that at the moment there were few hatchlings in the cave at the moment, though he remembered seeing a few running around earlier. He assumed that whoever the Ravine or Iraline were, they must be one of the seldom hatchlings, if those were even their names. I shouldn't worry over small things like these. I am guarding someone's eggs. Wait... Mihari didn't seem to remember whose eggs he was guarding, or even how long he has. Mihari figured he fell asleep, which only led to more confusion. He looked around the large cave, recognizing most of its inhabitants. There was Zedishiner and... Mihari shook his head. That couldn't be their name, but then what was it?

Mihari started pacing around the eggs he was supposedly guarding. Oh, I think it was that Magi's, right? Oh, I fell asleep because... Mihari couldn't imagine why though. As he circled the pile searching for answers, he felt something strange on his back. He turned around, and to his amazement he had grown wings! Even though this too did not make sense, he pushed the worry aside and leapt into the air, forgetting the eggs. Then again, he didn't even remember if he guarding anything. All Mihari cared about was flying to his father to show him his newly grown wings. Where would he be? Mihari thought as he searched, unaware of the fact that he just grew wings, yet can fly just fine. Mihari soared deeper into the cave, above the many dragons inside. He spotted his father near the back, next to a few smaller caves. "Father! I... I- my wings I... wait what? How? This makes no sense... am I dreaming?" Everything went dark again, vanishing into the wall of black. Mihari was no longer flying.

It was a dream. Mihari was still staring at nothing, but he was now aware of what was going on around him. He felt soft ground underneath him, probably grass.He forced his eyes slowly open and slowly stood up. He was still tired, but not nearly as exhausted as he was. After he stood up he felt his back again, only to find a dissappointing nothing. Mihari decided to find the other hatchlings, who weren't far from where he was. He was not going to let this happen again.

Enzy Marii ~ The Guided

"I always can hear," the little pink dragoness replied, "Hear thinks. Can hear you's too... You'ses confused. I can also talk through thinks."

See, I can talk through thinks too! I can talk to orange dragon through the thinks and find this "cur" he thinks of.

She hopped off her brother's chest. "But now he's thinks aren't there... I cannot find lots. Just pieces. He want me go... Home?"

Enzy was also confused. She didn't really know what her home was. Her home, to her, was here with them. Where was this other home? Was it with her Ma and her Pa? She didn't know them but she knew that it wasn't any of them. It was obvious. Plus, no one had any real mothering or fathering thinks about her except her brother, and even though the other dragoness ((Artemis, dunno her colors and Enze dunno her name)) kind of was like a mother figure, she didn't have many mothering feelings about Enzy.

Galletian Sunbeam ~ The Guider

Galletian heard something, far away and distant, but something indeed. Who was it...? He couldn't place it. Yes, kind of... Who are you? And get Enzy to Scar! You need to get Enzy to my kingdom and find Scar, before it's too late and I get trapped in my own mind!

Raven shot a grateful look at Irah as the other hatchling helped her move the sleeping Mihari. It felt rather strange to work together with someone else as a team. Her brother had always encouraged her to do things by herself, while offering encouragement from the sidelines, and as a result, she was unfamiliar with teamwork. She was very aware of Irah's movements, and tried her best to follow along. Her exhaustion didn't help her, and she stumbled a couple times before they finally placed the Guardian under a tree. She felt a strange sense of relief as they walked back to join the others. Working alongside others was strangely stressful.

She watched the blue hatchling worriedly as they rejoined the group. He was behaving erratically, unlike any other dragon she had ever met. Granted, she had barely met any others at all. Still, she felt uneasy when he failed to respond to them, his face strangely blank. She wasn't sure if it was her tiredness or not, but she had no idea what emotion he was expressing. She instinctively shifted closer to Rimaline, bumping her as the blue hatchling's voice startled her. She flinched at his harsh tone, never hearing anything like it before. Fear, raw and consuming rushed over her as he snarled. She'd never seen one so angry. Her family had been easygoing and forgiving, their few neighbours equally friendly. The fear and anger in the hatchling's tone frightened her. What on earth caused him to be so afraid? Maybe it's this Evil Crusher...

"Evil Crusher?" she murmured, the words feeling strange on her tongue.

When Irah answered him, not sounding frightened but calm and annoyed, she felt a rush of anger towards the blue hatchling. How mean of him to yell at someone who wasn't to blame? Had she not been so tired and rather shaken, she might have spoken out and yelled at him for unjustly taking it out on someone innocent. Instead, she just watched the scene with wide, startled eyes, pressing close to Rimaline, for once at a loss of what to say.

Sky Shiner clamped his mouth shut to prevent himself from countering Irah's retort. She was right. He had no right to yell at her with false assumptions. "Dumb, dumber, dumbest!” For a moment, he stared unblinkingly at her, at a loss as to what to say. He noticed the Black staring at them out of his peripheral vision but didn't comment on it. Then, breaking free from his stupor, he pulled himself together, his hard, cold gaze returning.

"I see. Sorry for yelling," he said simply, before turning around and facing the view from the ledge. Curling up, he settled his chin on a wing and sighed. Honestly, his relationship with Irah - well, any of the others, really - was just so weird. It was like he couldn't make up his mind on whether they were friends or foes. This was exactly why avoiding other dragons was better than being with them; socialising caused way too many problems for him to think about.

((I didn't role-play with you much, Sparks, but sorry to see you go. Also, sorry about the late post. I didn't realize how little I've been posting!))

Rimaline had doubts about the Sky Shiner at first, but now she was positively spooked. His yells were incensed and threatening. She had never felt or seen anger that intense; her family had been very serene and the human poachers that she had run into were only greedy, not angry. This sudden show of fear and outrage was a very new danger - it wasn't just Sky Shiner's anger, but the "evil crusher" that he mentioned Rimaline was afraid of. But when Raven shifted closer to her, Rimaline felt a surge of comfort. At least she knew that she could trust Raven. If this hatchling, or evil crusher, did anything to try to hurt Rimaline, she felt that Raven would help her; and Rimaline realized that she would stand up for Raven as well.

Irah's reaction to the Skywing's outburst was surprisingly calmer than Rimaline and Raven's, though. Sky Shiner reverted back to his cold, unwelcoming state, but Rimaline could sense that he was embarrassed.

Now that Mihari was awake again, Rimaline decided to move the conversation along. "I think that Raven, Mihari and I should go and have a rest." She felt that they all needed it, and hopefully Sky Shiner would be grateful for the alone time.

Raven narrowed her eyes at the blue hatchling's short, curt apology. She was unnerved by his hard eyes and cold demeanour, and her fear effortlessly translated into her anger. What kind of apology was that? An unbelievable one, that was for sure. She personally believed that apologies should be filled with enough positive emotion to counterbalance the negative ones one was apologizing for causing. She could feel Rimaline trembling ever so slightly beside her. A low, very soft growl rumbled through her chest as she fumed silently. That doesn't cut it. You've terrified us, and you unfairly yelled at Irah, and all you say is sorry? That was quite an outburst, shouldn't you at least make sure they're okay?

Rimaline's calm, pacifying voice broke through her thoughts, telling the group that they were going to go sleep. Mihari? Oh, he's awake! she thought, noticing the Guardian woozily making his way towards the group. She acknowledged him with a nod, still too angry to do anything more.

"I guess we're just going to have to find somewhere to sleep by ourselves," she said pointedly, shooting a glare at the blue hatchling's back. He had never answered their question, something that made her even angrier. He's so mean and rude! she thought, stalking angrily into the cave. Still fuming, she picked a random corner and collapsed tiredly, falling asleep mid-rant. I can't believe he...

((I'm moving for a time skip to allow the hatchlings time to rest, and roll over to a new day. All in favor?))

The climb was steep, but not long. Although encumbered by supporting the wounded magi, time seemed two whiz by as Zeditha's mind was overwhelmed by a series of uncertainties. What was primarily on her mind was that beacon she'd lit up. Sure enough, it attracted attention, and all's been well so far, but what if it ended up somewhere she really didn't want to go? What if they were raided by wandering vampires at night, or those cultists she'd recently found about from Torque?

So many questions, but no answers. The trip was silent, neither of the two uttering a word to the other as they finally approached the apex of their climb. As they stood before the entrance to the cave, Zeditha glanced silently around, before entering. Once inside, she slowly let Crusher stand on his own, before backing away and glancing around.

This is the place. I need not tell you anything of it, besides not to go into the lower levels yet.

The rest, you can see and feel for yourself. Irah should be here somewhere.

The starry night sky soon rolled in, drowning out the sun's life-giving rays.

Everything went pitch black, and for Zeditha, it was mildly intimidating.

She'd done her best to cover up the beacon with some heavy boulders, encasing it in stone and ensuring it gave off no more then a dim glow through the cracks of it's casket. She figured she'd let it shine for one day more when the night began, but now... now that she was looking out at the darkness-engulfed landscape below, she felt insignificant, somehow. Perhaps, even a little frightened by what abominations could be lurking out there...

Oh the stories she knew... the mythical beasts and demons she'd heard of made vampire dragons pale in comparison. Swallowing dryly, she sighed a faint sigh of relief, reassuring herself that those were but stories, nothing more. But what of this evil Crusher character... who was he, why was he what he was? So many questions, yet no answers.

It would be a long, sleepless night for Zeditha, as she contemplated what needed doing next. The first level of Shatterpoint Peak was nearing its capacity with all the strange new arrivals, which meant she'd have to enlist someone's help for clearing the second level. She had vague memories of storing books and scrolls of all sorts down there, which meant purging it with fire, how she did with the first level would be too destructive, should any of the old contents still be around.

As a matter of fact, after looking around the dome-like top of the cavern they now called home, she remembered one little detail. This level was never intended for habitation. They were all, quite literally, making do with what's comparatively a castle's single, tiny lobby.

So much to do, so little time. -she mumbled under her breath, eyes still locked onto the endless abyss outside.

============================

Huddled up some distance away, Torque was in a deep sleep. He'd brought in the food, and informed the rest they're free to take what they needed. After taking his share from the herbs, ignoring the meats and looking around for some cave fungi to compliment his meal, the whiptail had his fill, and went right to sleep, basking in the warmth emanating from the gems above, and below them. He didn't care... all he wanted was to put that hectic day of his behind, and look forward to a new morning.

============================

As the sun started to appear from the east, Zeditha hadn't had a single wink of sleep. She was not unfamiliar to restless nights, so just one night's worth of sleeplessness wouldn't take it's toll. Looking outside, she couldn't help but appreciate how Shatterpoint Peak's main exit was facing Southeast, giving her a good view of the sunrise. It wasn't long before the sunlight started shining through the cave entrance. It was time to get going. They had a lot to do...

Crusher took the hint and decided it was best not to question her further despite his nagging concerns. He concluded that Sky was most likely looking after Irah and took comfort in the fact that she had a friend who was mature enough to protect her, even if he wasn't exactly the most ideal guardian. He certainly proved his loyalty and Crusher was confident he wouldn't leave her stranded but Crusher was still uncertain how far Sky would go to protect the other members of their flight.

It was hard to admire the decorated cave in his deprived state, only stopping to look around once he came across a smaller chamber that he decided was a suitable resting spot. "Thank you, I think I'll rest awhile." he managed to say before immediately slumping forward and soon entering a deep sleep.

~~~
Irah shrugged in response to her immediate victory and lay down further away from the tree, purposely exposing herself to the sunlight. She originally wasn't as tired as the other hatchlings but the warm rays tempted her to fall asleep, completely ignorant of her father's arrival.
A soft breeze brushed past Sky Shiner, rousing the Skywing slightly. Shifting a little, he tucked his chin further into his scales as he tightened his curled-up position. After a moment, he cracked open a sleepy eye. Uncurling himself, he stretched, easing the tension in his muscles. As Sky rubbed the sleep out of his eyes, he thought back to yesterday. Had the others returned? Ah yes, he'd spotted Crusher returning with Zeditha supporting him. Sky, although he'd been a little concerned, had thought it best for him to keep his distance so as to not disturb the Magi. And there had been that Whiptail...he supposed that the striped dragon had probably met Zeditha beforehand seeing as the Nhiostrife hadn't commented on his presence. Sky had been suspicious of the meat the Whiptail brought but hunger won over his instincts in the end and he had taken some of the meat from the pile. In which he proceeded to sleep outside the cave, just a little ways away from the entrance itself, seeing as Irah had fallen asleep outside as well. Sky had felt a little guilty for his outburst and decided that he may as well look out for her, just in case.
Not that it would've made any difference, he decided as he stifled a yawn. He'd slept like a log and he doubted that he would've woken up for anything. Except Evil Crusher. Definitely Evil Crusher. Wait, the guy himself hadn't snuck about during the night, right? Frantic at the thought, he glanced about wildly but seeing nothing out of the ordinary, he relaxed. Irah was still there too, so everything was fine. The beacon had been covered up as well and that was good. Sky nodded to himself at that thought, his expression grim. It should never have been there in the first place. Then he shrugged, his grim look disappearing. Might as well check if anyone else was awake.
Cautiously, Sky took a peek into the cave. Everyone seemed to be asleep...or not. Zeditha was awake, clearly, and she was looking out to the sunrise. Well, not exactly who he'd like to be awake at the moment but he didn't mind. Huh, all of them weren't exactly dragons who he'd like to share company alone with. "Alone" meant to be with one's self only and being in the company of others didn't equal to that.
"Sleep well?" he asked without looking at her, his voice just low enough for her to hear but not loud enough to wake the others. Sky slithered over to where the food had been placed as he spoke, intending to pick out a small morning snack for himself.
Well enough. -Zeditha answered, though falsely. She didn't feel like discussing her sleeplessness with Sky.
Well, one of them had awoken, so the least Zeditha could do was grant herself the liberty of actually starting her day.
Quietly, she got up, and walked outside.
The refreshing scents of morning dew and the feeling of the cool breeze outside were so nice.
She just wanted to sit there and enjoy the sensation of the serene silent scene, a moment of pure bliss, complemented by nothing but the gentle waft of the wind and... odd distant whirring?
What the hell? -she muttered under her nose, as her eyes slowly moved over towards where the beacon was supposed to be...
The rocks covering the gem were glowing red, and one could easily see flames dancing between the cracks. The entire thing looked volatile enough to make Zeditha think twice before approaching it. It was then that it dawned on her, covering the blasted thing with rocks wasn't the best idea after all.
Muttering a few 'colorful' words under her breath, the Nhiostrife covered her face with one claw. What a rookie mistake!
But what should she do now?! The blasted thing looked like it was ready to explode into a small inferno! Sure, that wouldn't do any significant damage to Shatterpoint Peak, but it would be pretty loud, and very bright.
If only there was some way to cool it off, or drain its energy until it becomes stable enough to properly dispose of! For now, she decided against messing with it. The last thing she wanted was to rudely awake everyone with her own blunder. If that thing was gonna 'splode, it would be during midday, when the light would be least noticeable.
She remained outside, staring at it, hoping for an alternative solution to the problem to pop up from somewhere.
Rimaline sleepily opened her bright blue eyes. She breathed deeply, sighed, and turned over. That had been the best sleep she'd had in days, weeks, even. The only thing that prevented her from closing her eyes and going back to sleep was gnawing hunger in her belly. Now that her fatigue was taken care of, other priorities took over. She stretched out and stood up sleepily.
Everybody else still seemed to be sleeping, except for Sky Shiner. Zeditha was nowhere to be seen, which relieved Rimaline. At least she would only have to deal with one semi-hostile dragon at a time.
Her mother had taught her that the best way to deal with unkindness was to be kind in return; if not kind then at least polite. So, instead of ignoring or frowning at Sky Shiner, she managed a little smile. Then she quickly looked away.
There was still a few scraps of herbs left in a pile in the cave, so Rimaline slunk over and grabbed a few morsels. She was still hungry, but she resisted taking more. "I'll just wait for the others to wake up first, then maybe I can go gathering," Rimaline told herself assuredly.
In order for something to do while she waited, she started to preen her feathers.
Mihari had not eaten for what had felt like days, though in reality it had only been hours. Many long and tiring hours. He wanted to stay awake until Zeditha came with food, which would hopefully be soon. He didn't know how much longer he could stand his hunger. Mihari tried not to think of his hunger, but it was getting more difficult the longer he waited. Mihari tried to sleep for a moment, but even that seemed impossible. His hunger must be keeping him up, he assumed, and continued the difficult wait for Zeditha's return. He lay, staring out the opening of the cave's entrance, waiting.
Mihari looked up when he saw movement on the outside of the cave. He was confused to see more than just Zeditha and Torque climb to the cave. There were another dragon with her, who had Zeditha support them. It was a little difficult to see, but he could easily identify the other dragon as a Magi.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mihari awoke to the soft glow of the cave being interrupted by the strong sunlight glare from the outside. Mihari stretched and pushed himself to stand, and looked towards the sunlit outside. As he did so he checked to see any signs of wings, and as usual, nothing. He stood there for a moment, feeling how nice it was to be well rested, then walked over to where tho food that was brought last night was. He had eaten the previous night, and wasn't really hungry then, so he decided to walk around the cave instead. Mihari noticed that Sky Shiner and Rimaline were also awake, but Zeditha was not there.
Sky Shiner grunted in reply to Zeditha, seeing no point in continuing the small talk. As he reached where the food was and decided on some of the deer's leg meat, he noticed the White one had aroused as well and had even quirked a small smile at him. A little confused, he thought about smiling back but the younger hatchling had already looked away anyway so he didn't. He swallowed the small amount of meat he'd taken. He wasn't that particularly hungry, it was still early in the morning, but it still felt good to have that tasty, juicy meat going down his throat. Speaking of meat...he looked down on himself. Well, the blood from his quiet rampage (sort of...he'd only taken his anger out on one rabbit) yesterday had faded on his scales. At least it didn't show much on his wings anymore. Sky would have still preferred to find a pool somewhere and dunk himself in it. And drink from.
Now that he had eaten, Sky glanced around the cave again. The White one was preening her feathers and the Guardian was just standing up. Okay, it was really beginning to be frustrating having to call each newcomer "the Whiptail", "the White", etc., etc. "I should, at least, get to know them." Sky started slithering towards the White hatchling but as soon as he did, he froze as a familiar sensation crept over him. Oh no, he couldn't possibly be shy now! Sky had thought he'd gotten over it! Bristling, he mentally shook those thoughts free. "I'm not that Sky anymore. I can't be that Sky anymore." Still, he found himself trembling ever-so-slightly as he made his way to the White hatchling but he steeled himself.
"I...I don't believe we've introduced ourselves formally..." Sky hesitated but gathered himself and continued, "I'm Sky Shiner, what's your name?"
"...Awkward, awkward, AWKWARD...."
Galletian's kingdom was many miles away and Artemis lacked the wings to take her the distance. Instead she searched the forest with Quinn and Enzy in hopes of finding herbs that she hoped would act as a temporary remedy until they could find Scar, whoever that was. Meanwhile Quorran was watching over Galletian, drifting off to sleep as night set in.
"Quorran, wake up."
"Huh? ...what?" he stuttered as he eyes shot open. Artemis was standing in front of him with the two hatchlings on her back."Oh, hi Artemis." he said, acting nonchalant . "Whatcha got? Anything good?"
Artemis said she found a few that could help relieve anxiety but she doubted it would be enough to bring him back. "Go, tell the others. I'm sure you've already gotten plenty of rest." she smirked.
The sun was just beginning to peek out on the horizon and Quinn was wide awake. She wanted to do something but Artemis was fast asleep now and Maple and Quorran had left; maybe Enzy was awake. "Hey, you there?" she called, her telepathic voice ringing from behind Artemis's fluffy tail.
~~~

Later that day, when Irah retreated into the cave she was shocked to find Crusher in worse condition than she remembered. They talked into the night and Irah expressed her regret for leaving him, thinking this was her own fault, but Crusher assured her that the blame was better directed to himself and that he would have arrived without trouble if he hadn't recently been paid a visit by his adversary. "And besides..." said Crusher, "I'm sure you would have done the same for me. We can not completely let our guard down during these dark times."

He noticed that Irah looked depressed, staring at the ground without saying a word. He smiled and gently wrapped a wing around her. "And when you're older..." he continued, "we may not always be together but I can guarantee that the two of us will never be too far apart. Maybe someday you'll be stronger than me. By then would you still want your old man hanging around?" Irah looked up at him with surprise. Her? Stronger than him? That seemed like an absurd notion to even think about. Crusher laughed, "You'll see. There are stronger forces out there that can help us, we just need to look through the shadows..."

The next morning...

Irah didn't wake up until the sun was high enough to shine it's rays down onto Shatterpoint peak. She stretched her limbs and yawned with gaping jaws before passing by Sky, Rimaline, Mihari, and Raven with a polite "Good morning!" then making her way outside. She felt better than she did the night before, seeing Mihari feeling better and knowing that Crusher was going to be alright helped lift her spirits. Today Irah planned on observing the landscape a little more closely to get an idea of what sort of prey was abundant around her new home, but Zeditha looking anxious about something was the first disturbance of her peaceful morning, the distant whirring soon followed. She walked over and joined Zeditha in her cluelessness, staring up at the burning mana crystal. "Can we pour water on it?" she asked. Throwing it into a lake was another possibility but she didn't know if there was one near by and the crystal looked too dangerous to touch at the moment.

It would explode. -Zeditha sighed. Indeed, water would just make the crystal shatter from the sudden change in temperature.

It would explode... -she said again- I feel like even looking at it crossly would make it explode. -she jested and shook her head in disbelief.

Unless... -she paused, sat down and tilted her head sideways, remaining silent for a brief moment.

Gah, no. I'm, no no no... -she snarled under her breath and got up, starting to pace around. It'd been burning for one full night, and some, while she intended for it to snuff out by tomorrow evening. How much energy was in that thing?

I'm... nevermind. We'll remote detonate it. Just, later. Gah, stupid stupid stupid. -she felt like pelting her own forehead with her arm.

Don't worry about it, just, don't go near it. I'll wait until noon, then I'll set it off, it'll be bright, but compared to the sunlight, it won't attract that much atten... -she stopped, an idea forming in her head. Ofcourse! They couldn't snuff that thing out by cooling it off, but there was another option!

Actually, no. I think I have an idea. Anyway, don't concern yourself with these things, I caused this problem, I'll fix it. I trust you met with your father? He was a hair's distance from losing it with worry about you when I saw him down there. -she sat down and gestured in the direction where she and Torque had set off to hunt yesterday.

An' even closer to falling apart from exhaustion. -a voice sounded behind them. It was Torque, he had that groggy "I just got up" look to him.

Stretching out, the whiptail yawned widely and walked up to the two, before glancing towards the origin of the strange whirring sound.

Morning... you two. Zeditha, you're not gonna try signaling the whole blasted planet of where we are, are you? Because I've seen a volcano, and that thing oddly resembles one. A small one, but I've seen what that beacon does.

It'll be fine. I can snuff it out. Look, be useful and go get us some more food, we'll need it for the day.

Torque sighed and reluctantly answered: Alright... better then standing near that thing, that's for sure. -he shot the beacon with a glance, then trailed off down the path towards the hunting grounds.

As Rimaline preened her feathers, Sky Shiner approached her nervously.

"I don't believe that we've introduced ourselves formally... I'm Sky Shiner, what's your name?"

"Well, it's nice to meet you, Sky Shiner," Rimaline said. The words felt awkward in her mouth. "My name is Rimaline." She decided that she wouldn't tell him that Irah had already told her his name.

She could sense that they both found the conversation awkward, but it was also nice to talk to some new dragons. Most of them seemed nice, and even though Sky had had that outburst last night, it didn't seem like he meant to be harsh. Rimaline didn't want to believe it too early in case her hopes were dashed, but maybe she could make a home here with these other dragons. She still hadn't met most of them, though. And she had a feeling that this Evil Crusher could easily break apart their small band.

Rimaline was able to ignore these doubts, though, when Irah passed by and said, "Good morning!" That little gesture helped her feel like she belonged.

"But what is that whirring sound? Is it coming from outside?" Rimaline wondered out loud.

It had only been less than a day, but Mihari had already met so many new dragons. There was only one dragon he did not know the name of, which was the Magi that Zeditha had been supporting when they had arrived. He really didn't feel like introducing himself to an adult Magi who was much larger than he was. He knew Zeditha had to trust him, or even know him, but Mihari still didn't want to bother him. Besides, right now only Raven, Sky Shiner and most likely Zeditha were the only ones who were awake at the moment. At least, that was until Irah walked by politely saying "Good morning!" before proceeding to walk outside the cave. It was nice that even though they had met not even a day before, someone would make a nice gesture like that.

Mihari turned back to Sky Shiner, who looked like he was introducing himself with Rimaline. Mihari realized that he had not even introduced himself the Sky Shiner yet. He felt like walking up and doing so when he and Rimaline were done, but noticed Sky looked like he was bothered by something. Did it have to do with whatever he was apologizing about last night? When Mihari had woken up after collapsing he could hear that he was apologizing for something. He didn't want to get involved though, so he didn't ask. Maybe Sky Shiner just shy and didn't like introducing himself.

Mihari still wanted to introduce himself, but some peculiar sound was coming from somewhere. When Mihari heard Rimaline mention it coming from outside, Mihari sprinted towards the source. He could always talk to them later.

Mihari knew at least Irah was there, and maybe even Zeditha. He was right, with the exception of Torque also being there. He and Torque also didn't really know each other, but again Mihari was mostly making friends with hatchlings, not random adult dragons. Mihari turned his attention to where the burning beacon was. "Um... what happened to the... beacon?" Mihari asked after Torque had just left. If it was still was even a beacon.

Irah cocked an eyebrow as she watched Torque leave, wondering why he agreed to put up with Zeditha's demands. "Yeah, he's still tired but he'll be fine. I just hope Artemis gets here soon." she replied, her voice sounding uneasy near the end. Turning to Mihari she shrugged and said "Looks like it's overheating but apparently we shouldn't worry about it. "I don't think I want to stand around much longer anyway in case that thing gets any hotter."

((Kinda crappy this time but it'll do. I'm guessing Torque has known Zeditha for a while?))

((Oh, hello. I have to admit, I was looking at this for a while. I thought you might not need anymore characters. But I see from the character list edited just a few days ago, there might be a chance I can still join. So can I? And one more question: are the hatchlings still hatchlings, or have they grown? Cause I would want to be a hatchling with the hatchlings. Help? )) ohmy.gif

((I'm not positive if you may join, but there are both hatchlings and adults. Most of the hatchlings are in a cave right now, and there is also a group somewhere else, which I think only one hatchling is there. I know at least Zeditha, Crusher, and Torque are adults. Correct me if I'm wrong.))

Mihari stood still for a moment, staring at the intensely burning crystal. How much longer could it last? Not wanting to find out for himself, Mihari agreed by saying "Yeah, I don't think we should stay," before slowly moving back to the safety of the cave. He might be a Guardian dragon, but it would be foolish to stay around any longer. He didn't even know a crystal like that existed, much less how to stop it. It would probably be best to stay in the cave until the crystal burning issue was resolved. Besides, maybe he could take this opportunity to explore the cave. "I think I'll explore the cave for a while," Mihari told Irah. Walking back to where he woke up only a few minutes ago, Mihari hoped that Zeditha would be able to safely solve the problem.

Mihari hadn't taken the time to really admire the cave's complicated interior. He completely forgot about the crystal as he went further back. He wasn't even very far into the cave yet. He wasn't intending to go very far into the cave, but the soft glow of the walls guided him deeper. Mihari looked back towards the other direction as he reached the wall on the far side. As large as the first level was, Mihari was sure it got even bigger on the lower levels. The lower levels. Were they even safe? When Mihari found an opening in the wall he looked to make sure it was safe. So far, continuing seemed okay. The opening was already huge at first, but after he walked only a little way down, it seemed to grow even bigger, even with a few smaller openings branching out. Mihari did his best to remember his path in the faintly illuminated tunnel. He hadn't seen much yet, just a bunch of glowing crystals. As he neared the next level, he wondered if he should go further. He hadn't even seen much and still wanted to explore.
