To be a Dragon's Rider

Recommended Posts

Agares forced himself back onto his feet, the muscles in his body protesting at every movement he made. Blood from his wounds were beginning to drip down onto the ground beneath him, as he stood there on wobbly legs, panting heavily.

He did not once break his gaze off Draken, fully intent on showing the king that he still had fight left within him. Before he could say anything, movement out of the corner of his eyes caught his vision.

Turning his head, he saw the runt, bryagh approaching...

"Stay... out of this... you runt.." he managed to growl.

Back at the training grounds, Zen couldn't help but feel uneasy as he stared at the mountains.

Bryagh ignored Agares' insults. He might not be able to handle Agares in a fight, but there were other ways to win a battle other than through power. He wouldn't have to touch him. Literally.

Instead he waited for Draken's reply.

“I will have to decline your offer Bryagh. The rule this fool made states and I quote ‘The first to submit to the other, loses. No 3rd party interference’. Thus if I accept I will lose but no matter this will end soon.” Draken spoke keeping his eye on Agares. The dragon was weak and the more blood he lost made him weaker but he was too proud to give up yet.

“Get on with it Agares!” the king shouted.

Agares didn't reply... he continued standing there, defiant and unwilling to show weakness. Admitting defeat was an alien concept to Agares and was currently the last thing on his mind.

He stood there, trying to formulate a plan.

Bryagh bowed out and left them to their fight. Draken had the power to win, but he would be more unwilling to kill to get it. Agares did not have the strength, but he did possess the drive. Either way, this fight wasn't going to be other until one of them was a bloody pulp.

((Drow can we many finish up… The others are waiting.))

Draken watched Agares, he was clearly thinking of how to progress in this challenge. He was bleeding severely while the king only had a few bruises, the blood that was on him belonged to Agares. Draken’s ear twitched as he heard something, a voice, his rider’s voice. The king roared knowing what he has to do.

His storm calmed a bit down but a thick fog started to roll in over the mountain. Soon the king disappeared out of Agares sight, leaving him “blind” in the area.

Agares took a few painful steps forward, as he was shrouded by the fog. He could barely see infront of him.. let alone a few yards.

He turned his head from side to side, trying to catch the faintest of movements. Had he the energy to use his wings for flight, or to blow the fog away he would have, but that energy was long gone.

Draken slowly walked and circled Agares, he knew the dragon would be able to hear his steps, thus with every movement he used his earth magic to make more noise. Several jagged rocks have risen from the ground now but it was hard to see it through the fog. Draken was finally behind Agares now standing over his tail.

Smiling the king dug his claws into the dragon’s tail, pulling him closer towards himself. With his grip well the king used his own strength and tossed Agares into some of the jagged rocks. He then rushed towards him before he could get up, sinking his jaws into Agares neck once again. He didn’t lock his jaw this time instead he shook his head, like a dog with a toy, before sending Agares into another set of jagged rocks.

After being thrown into the jagged rocks a second time, Agares lay on the ground, his body limp. He no longer had the strength to move, his body was so battered and bruised.

However he refused to admit his defeat. As he lay there, his vision began to blur until it was dark. He had been rendered unconcious.

- he isn't dead... just knocked out >.>

((Draken would any way only kill a dragon if he doesn’t have a rider tongue.gif Seeing that he need them))

Draken released his magic over the fog but the storm still lingered in the sky. As the air cleared he stepped closer towards the body of Agares looking at him in disgust. He poked his challenger making sure he wasn’t faking it but he noticed that he was out cold and this pleased Draken.

Roaring in victory Draken grabbed Agares by the tail again, dragging him partly before the king took to the skies. He had to use a bit of extra wind to lift the heavy creature but in the end he managed to return to the training area, dropping his unconscious body at the back. He then took his place behind Elena, who was still standing and watching.

Amacules looked up as the unconscious body of agares was layed in the arena. The body was bleeding and bruised badly. What happened!? Was the only words Amacules cold think, and Nepula's eyes are widened, thinking the same quote. They both looked at each other, it was heal or no heal. But would the king approve

With the battle between King and contender over Bryagh saw little reason to stay. He slunk back into the shadows and vanished from sight, his black scales blending in perfectly with the darkness.

The black dragon made his way down the moutain in silence and deep thought. Agares had put on quite a show, although his weaknesses had let him down.

He arrived at the training area shortly after Draken and curled up in a far corner. He didn't really see the need for him and his rider to engage in such activites, but it could prove amusing.

Branwyn was in her room in the castle sitting at a desk with a single candle for light. The darkness of the castle annoyed her a great deal but there was little to be done about it. On the desk was a notebook and Branwyn was scratching away at it with a pen, brainstorming ideas for enchantments when a great ruckus roared up from outside. Looking out a window she saw the frost wyrm Belphegor coming in for a landing, heralded by the victory cries of the minions below. Branwyn decided it would be good manners to great Skavrael, besides it was about time to feed Hera and she wasn't about to let some slave hand do the job. So got up from her desk and made her way down to the main floor carrying the candle.

Once downstairs she Saw Skavrael heading off into the dark of the castle. "I take it things went well." She said sarcastically, of course things had gone well, there wouldn't be cheering if it hadn't. Branwyn was normally on the move out in the world, she had stayed in the castle on a whim.

After returning from putting their armor back at their hut Orion and Alsia noticed the beaten up dragon in the training area. Orion instinctively stood closer to Alsia, as if confirming she was safe and unharmed. "I believe that would be the definition of getting you butt handed to you." Alsia joked. Orion chuckled at her joke but still felt nervous for her, he didn't want anyone to hurt her, the mere thought stung him. Alsia looked at his equipment as well as what her was carrying for her human form. "Think we got enough throwing knives?" "Nah, besides you never know when you won't be able to retrieve some in a fight." Alsia nodded and the two of them advanced toward the front of the training area so they could hear what they king needed to say clearly.

Skavrael stopped as he heard Branwyn's voice. Turning his head around ever so slightly, he could see the faint candlelight glow in the near distance from where she was standing. Its light barely strong enough to reveal the hand which carried it.

"I grow bored, with these weaklings.." replied Skavrael, before resuming his walk towards the dungeons of the castle.

The man he had been dragging, looked towards the light of the candle, his hand stretching out to try and grab it, as if that light alone would be his savior from the hellish torture he was being put through.

Skavrael rounded a corner and began to descend the spiral staircase.

Outside in the hollowed city of Mordane, Belphegor had returned to a rather large cliff edge near the roof of the cave. Bones littered the area, their owners once minor minions of the dark rider who fell victim to Belphegor's boredom.

Zen watched as the dragon king dropped a seemingly dead dragon at the edge of the training grounds. At first glance, Zen did not recognize the battered body of Agares.

Feeling a weird sensation within himself, he soon came to realize that this was infact the dragon whom had snatched him from his village. At that moment, he did not know whether to be happy, that the thing which had changed his life so drastically was now being punished, or to be concerned that the dragon he was partnered with was in such a dire condition.

“Heal him.” Elena spoke to Nepula and Amacules but her gaze was still on the unconscious dragon. If she didn’t tell Draken to finish it he might still have toyed with him. Neither the less the lesson must continue.

“Today we will be flying bare back. To some of you it might come natural and to others it might not.” Elena spoke turning her gaze to the students. “Get on your dragon and find your seat. From there we will take to the skies.”

Just as her words ended a roar of thunder echoed through the sky. Small strikes of lightning ran over the dark clouds and the winds started to pick up.

"gladly" amacules said, and nodded at nepula, as she also nodded back. for a dragon a few feet taller than nepula would need both of them to completely heal. nepula laid her feathered tail on agares as amacules laid the palm of her hand on him. they glowed as the healing took place. agares' wounds fromt he battle with the king started to close, and the bleeding stopped. his bruises healed as of any lost scales. now all that was left was some stains of blood that scattered across his healed body.

Branwyn let out a soft chuckle, such a phrase seemed typical of Skavrael. "I'm sure they won't stay weak forever." She said to the fading flames before turning to the main gate. Maybe I should make glasses that can see in the dark. She thought to herself as she opened the door and stepped out into the palace courtyard. Branwyn worked her way to where Hera was being kept. The griffon seemed quite happy to see Branwyn arrive a the stable. "I can see you've missed me, I'll be right back with your food." She said almost cooing as she looked for the meat that had been set aside for her mount.

Agares eyes shot open as the last of his wounds closed up. On pure instinct he lashed out, swinging his tail around wildly and clawing at the air.

With his adrenaline building up, he managed to force himself up onto his feet however he soon dropped back down. His wounds may have been healed, but his energy was sorely lacking.

His eyes now looked past all the other dragons and fixated on Draken.

Amacules looked between draken and agares. I have a bad feeling what happened up in those mountains She thought, and dodged one of the dragon's instinctive claw attacks. Nepula weaned o it of the way of his tail. Now is energy would have come back, if we controlled it to do that, which we did not The yearn thought and slightly smiled at herself, and preened her feathers

Branwyn found the shredded meat left for her mount and tossed a piece to the griffon. Hera snapped it out of the air with ease and began gobbling it down. She let out a screech asking for more and Branwyn tossed her another piece. "That's all you get for now, otherwise you'll get fat." She said setting the bucket of meat down again before leaving the stable. "Be a good girl now." She said over her shoulder to the griffon.

Once out of the stable Branwyn made her way back to the castle. She had settled on an enchantment to work on today, it was one that would help her out in the future.
