To be a Dragon's Rider

Recommended Posts

Luthiel awoke under Evtria's wing, the light of morning shining through the thin membranes, making the shadows of her bones visible. Stretching, Lutheil patted Evtria's side, and the dragon lifted her wing. Luthiel climbed out, blinking at the bright light. "Today you gonna lead me to the civilization on this island? Or did you miss the island? Are we still on the mainland?" Her dragon nodded, and Luthiel picked up the blanket she'd brought off the ground, stuffing it in her pack. Evtria crouched down, and Luthiel climbed up her leg and onto her back.

Amacules stood up in her bed as she heard the training call from the king, draken. She yawned and got out of bed. As she looked out of her bedroom window, she could see that the sun hadnt risen yet, so it is still dark out.

"gee, the king really is trying to push them" the rider observed.

"I don't think the king will joke about anything," Nepula said, rising up from her nest, and shook her feathers, "it is about the dark riders after all"

"we should hurry and get going" Amacules said as she left her house along with Nepula, and climbed onto her bareback. "let's hope training goes well" she said, as Nepula flew off to the training area

“What now?” Zach asked rubbing his eyes as he heard the roar of a dragon. Amador sat upright from his spot and listened closely.

“We have to assemble for training now.” Amador spoke looking at his rider with a puzzled face. It was still dark out and most of the island was a sleep, well those who didn’t hear Draken’s call that is. He has seen the others train before he bonded with his rider but never this early before.

“Are they crazy?! There is still two hours of sleep at least still left.” Zach moaned as he slowly got out of his bed. “Stop moaning and get dressed. I want to be at the training area soon.” Amador spoke getting up and walking out to their balcony. Zach looked at Amador oddly noticing that his dragon was acting a bit different than usual, that something was bothering him.

Elena reappeared from the bathroom, clean and armored. She tried to get rid of her dreams as soon as she could but sadly she failed horribly. Walking over to Draken the young rider climbed on, using the set of spikes and toned muscle to reach a good seat. Without the use of a saddle riding would be more difficult especially if certain things fly through the air.

Giving Draken the go ahead the king opened his wings and fell over the edge of the balcony. He dived towards the training area landing on his pedestal sat the previous day. Elena in turn climbed off patting Draken in thanks. She then took in a seat between the kings legs, resting her head on his massive claws, waiting for the students to arrive.

Dalen was awoken when he heard a commanding roar. He rubbed his eyes as he sat up, yawning and stretching. Hisame had his head raised, staring at Dalen as he waited for the other to be ready. Dalen went to the washroom, splashing some cold water on his face, and combed his fingers through his hair so it wasn't quite as messy. He wasn't particularly worried about his appearance. With that done, he left with Hisame to answer the call from Elena and Draken.

They found the king and his rider at the training area, Elena resting between the dragon's legs, and as Dalen and Hisame approached they didn't say anything. The two simply waited for instructions, seeing no need to speak. Elena would inform them of what was planned for the day.

((omg someone bother Dalen. He's so boring 'cause he's a bit depressed.))

Nepula, as she reached the training area, reared up and descended close to the pedestal on which Elena and draken were. Amacules could notice some riders looking tired and confused about the early training, as she slid off the saddle-less dragon. Amacules and Nepula stood patiently waiting for the other riders to arrive. I hope they're going to be ready for THAT future battle

Zen fell out of his bed, startled by the sudden roar of the dragon so early in the morning. It did not help, that his left leg had gotten tangled in the bed sheet as he jumped out, which in turn caused him to fall.

Disorientated and confused, Zen instinctively went to grab his sword and gauntlet, before looking outside of one of the windows. As he looked out he noticed other dragons and riders heading in the direction of the training ground. Thinking it wise to follow them, he quickly went outside, making his way to the proper location. It felt a bit awkward for him, since everyone else seemed to be accompanied by their dragons, yet he was by himself. He looked up at the sky, wondering whether he should be happy that the beast he called his dragon was not here, or to be concerned that he was the only one who was without his companion.

Meanwhile at the peak of some mountains, Agares continued to sleep. His ear momentarily twitching at the annoying sound of Drakens poor attempt at imitating a rooster. Apart from the small movement, the rest of his body stayed still.

Luthiel held on tight as Evtria took to the air, flying high into the clouds. She smiled at the wind in her face, though her stomach was somewhere back on the ground. "Where to now!?" she called ahead.

"Dragoria!" was the reply. Luthiel smiled. The City of Dragons here we come.

Zach dressed in clean clothes, ready for what every may happen today. He took his spear and Amador’s saddle and walked outside to where his dragon was sitting and watching.

“Come on we need to get this on before we go.” Zach spoke putting the things on the ground waiting for his dragon to stand.

“No. It seems we don’t need it.” Amador spoke looking at Zach then back down towards the training area again. “Look. Yesterday they had their saddles on now they don’t. The first lesson might be flying bareback.”

Zach stepped closer and looked towards the training area trying to see through the night. As he focused and his eyes gotten use to the darkness he could see what his dragon was saying. A bit worried he picked up his spear and climbed on Amador, hoping this would go well.

“Don’t worry. This won’t be like the last time.” The dragon spoke taking to the sky. Within minutes the pair reached the training area looking around for the others. Slowly but surely everyone was approaching but Zach’s sight stayed on Elena who seemed to be hiding between Draken’s legs.

While Bryagh caught up on his sleep Narcissa managed to get a fire going. Not the black cursed flame that Bryagh had given her, but a normal orange red one that did nothing but burn. The black dragon might well prefer to devour rotten meat, but Narcissa did not think she could stomach it herself. That's why she was roasting mushrooms. She was quite glad now she had watched all those nature shows. The last thing she needed was food poisoning.

Once Narcissa finished eating she inspected the bow by the firelight. It was really a thing of beauty and it just felt...right holding it. She wondered just who this ancestor of hers was. Had he really been so terrible that dragons still feared his bloodline centuries later?

Luthiel leaned agaisnt Evtria's neck as they flew, closing her eyes, a smile on her face. Not long into the flight, she felt Evtira's descent, and lifted her head, looking down. Dragoria stretched blow them, and she fiddled with her shirt as it came to her for the first time. Nervousness. She'd never felt that before either. What a strange two days for her. She'd probably experience a lot of new things over the next few, too.

Also I've added a "bad guy" character sheet but there is only like two spots open. Any new person that joins now would automatically be able to use magic.))

Elena’s eyes darted over as dragons and riders started to arrive. Slightly narrowing her eyes she saw the familiar faces approaching but the darkness still hid a lot. Closing her eyes once again she summoned the element of fire. Several bamboo torches that surrounded the training area burst into flames casting an orange light over everyone.

“Draken.” She spoke softly opening her eyes and looking at the students.

“Yes young one.” Draken spoke lowering his head to listen what Elena has to say.

“Do what you must.” She spoke with no emotion. A smile curled up on Draken’s face and the sound of thunder rolled through the sky. Opening his wings Draken took to the sky with a single beat disappearing into the storm. Elena continued to sit where she was waiting patiently for everyone, this will also give them time to talk and learn their fellow students.

Amacules turned her head to one of the bamboo sticks that have lightened up. It's amber light splashed onto her face, higlighting her red hair orange. Then she heard the sound of thunder rolling. Rider looked up at the ever darker sky. A storm? Are we riding bare back in a thunderstorm? she pondered. Elena really must be serious, early in the morning and now a thunderstorm.

"is it just me or I have a bad feeling about this," Nepula whispered to her fellow rider. Normally no one hear the whisper, but along with her element of wind she carried it to Amacules' ears, so she alone can hear.

"hopefully Elena knows what she's doing" Amacules whispered back

Instinctively Zen flinched when he heard the roar of the thunder. He had never been good with thunderstorms and the fact that he had seen dragons was not going to change that either. Before he could fully recover from that moment of shock, he saw a fast approaching dust cloud.

Zen plunged his blade into the earth and gripped it tightly with one hand, using his other to cover his face as dust from the ground was whipped up from the gust of air produced when Draken took to the sky. It took quite a bit of his strength to remain attached to his blade and to not be thrown backwards.from the gust.

Draken flew high above over the island forming a bigger storm as he went along. The thunder continued to rumble through the sky releasing small lightning strikes over the island. He could sense his target was close nearby, using the flow of magic sure did have some of perks.

Another rumble of thunder rolled through the air as Draken spotted his target. A cracking sound followed by a bolt of lightning dived towards the ground, hitting Agares on the head, leaving a black scorch mark.

((Sorry Drow I need to motivate him tongue.gif))

Agares clenched his front claws together, crumbling fragments of the stone beneath him. With one open eye, he stared up at the cause of his rude awakening before grunting, causing black smoke to escape his nostrils.

"Leave.. me.. alone, you decrepit old fool!" he roared, sending a torrent of orange flame skywards towards Draken.

Standing up, Draken walked over to a large cave opening and entered. In the inner part of the cave, resided many smaller and younger dragons. There was no need to worry about a cave in... unless Draken did not care about the chances of harming other dragons.

As Agares ventured deeper, the smaller dragons scrambled to the walls of the cave, so as to not risk the chance of evoking Agares's anger.

Draken flew down as he saw Agares disappear into some cave of sort. He landed only a few metres away from the entrance laughing at the dragon’s words.

“Old you say then this should end quickly then.” Draken spoke as he looked into the cave he saw some of the smaller dragons frightened by what is happening. “Leave us.” Draken ordered stepping back a little allowing the small dragons to get out.

They didn’t think twice and left the cave in an instant, they didn’t want to be near trouble, not this early that is. After the others left Draken peered into the cave once again, noticing the dark figure of Agares. He wasn’t going to stand down anytime soon.

“Now. Why don’t you come out and let’s get this over with.”

"I'd rather not" yawned Agares, who found a spot deep within the cave. "If you desire a spar, why not come back later, after I wake up of my own accord". Agares stared through the darkness at Draken. "Now shoo... your being quite the annoyance this early in the morning..."

“If that is what you want.” Draken spoke but his tone wasn’t a cheery one. Walking away the king viewed the surrounding area noticing come of the younger dragons watching him from a distance. They were curious to what he would do and he could only smile at them.

Draken then turned to look at cave once again, boring his claws in to the rock. Soon the earth began to tremble and the earth behind Agares started to move. Slowly but surely the angered dragon was being pushed out whether he liked it or not.

Now outside the cave, Agares shook himself to get the debris which had fallen atop of him as the cave wall was moving.

"What is it you want?!" he growled. "I have completed that tiresome bonding ritual with that thing... now let me rest in peace.... it is far too early in the day for such trivial disturbances..."

"You still have to complete your training with your rider. That is the law. You could have chosen to ignore the melody and meeting with your rider, yet you brought him here for what?" Draken spoke stopping his earth magic. "He is not just a toy and now that you have bonded he is more part off you than you think."

Draken merely just sat looking at Agares with a dull expression, waiting to see what the dragon would do. He of course remembered what Elena asked of him and he would follow that request to the last word.

"Now, get to the training area so that training can begin."

((Hope this is ok))

Skavrael, riding atop his frost wyrm Belphegor descended into the darkness of an ancient cave, several of the minor minions following behind him. Within the Wyrm's right claw was the barely alive body of a fallen rider. The man kept alive for the mere purpose of pro-longing his suffering, much like what Skavrael was forced to go through prior to aligning himself with the dark rider. Belphegor's bone like maw was painted with the blood of a dragon, the stain a reminder of the fight they had just endured, and his savory meal at the end.

As they went deeper into the tunnel like cave, the howls and jeers of the minor minions could be heard echoing off the walls as they cheered for their victory. The echoes acting as an early victory call for those who had stayed behind in the city of Mordane

Entering the hollowed out cavity at the end of the tunnel, Belphegor flew straight towards the dark riders castle as the minions descended below towards the various buildings. The castle itself was morbid in its design, the cave like wall which it rested against appearing to slowly but gradually devour the castle itself. Landing on the ground just before the building, Belphegor released the rider and watched as his body rolled towards the ground and eventually coming to a stop. Skavrael also watching this sight, began to remove the black gauntlet on his right hand, before descending off Belphegor's back. He went over and kneeled beside the man, his head twisting slightly as if he were trying to understand the mans futile murmurings of mercy.

The rider, with his one good eye continued to stare at the masked face of Skavrael, begging for his life to be spared but to little avail. As if angered by this mans audacity to beg for his life, Skavrael clenched the mans throat with his exposed icy blue hand, the coldness from his icy fire scorching the mans neck and throat, effectively silencing him for good. With one hand outstretched towards the dim lighting of the hollowed cave as if trying to grab it, the fallen rider could do little but mumble in pain as he was dragged by his neck towards the absolute darkness within the castle.

Jaken yawned and got up slowly.Durendila was already up peering outside the door.

"Wow,that...well he deserved that."

Jaken,go inside and put a shirt on,no one wants to see you without a shirt on,however muscular you think you are. Jaken blushed a deep red and went inside to put his one shirt on.

"That boy is merely a tool, I seek no rider and dragon relationship with that vermin. He is merely the equivalent of a sword to a swordsman. A tool at my disposal." hissed Agares.

Agares turned around and began to walk away. "If that boy cannot handle training by himself... then he is not worthy of being my tool.."
