To be a Dragon's Rider

Recommended Posts

Draken stomped his claw raising a piece of earth in front of Agares. The sky was still rumbling with thunder as the king looked at the dragon. If he knew better he would know that by now that Draken wasn’t going to stand down not now or ever.

“Everyone needs training, even you.” Draken spoke smiling. “ We can test it if you want, a little deal maybe. A small challenge of some sorts, if you win you I’ll leave you alone. If I win you complete your training with your rider. Easy. So what you say?”

"Are you suggesting we duel?" replied Agares, twisting his neck around to look at the king. He had a sinister grin on his face, as his tongue snaked out and licked the edges.

Slowly, Agares body began to take on a silvery hue as his body was gradually becoming engulfed by his titanium exoskeleton. As his body became completely covered, a flash of lightning lit the sky, its momentary flash reflecting off the metallic skin of Agares.

"If I win... you renounce your throne and I become king..." growled Agares,

"Very well." Draken spoke standing up, glaring at Agares. "State the rules."

His muscles tightened ready for what might happen. Just because he was born into it doent mean he can take him on.

"The basics.." replied Agares. "The first to submit to the other, loses. No 3rd party interference."

Agares turned around now, so that he was facing Draken head on. "This will be a one on one duel...between the old king... and the future king.." he grinned coldly at the last part.

As the sound of thunder echoed through the mountain peaks, Agares let loose a torrent of flame skyward, signalling that he was ready for this duel to begin.

“Is that all.” Draken smiled. “This is going to be interesting then., with so little rules this won't take long then.” He spoke only looking at his challenger. Agares is only a mere stepping stone and the sooner they could get this over with the better.

“Well then lets begin.” He spoke in a relaxed tone.

As soon as Draken said begin, Agares kicked off the ground and headed straight towards the king, his wings now covered in titanium and sharpened to the point where the edges were as sharp as a blade dug into the side of the mountain, creating a dust cloud from the debris.

Hidden in the cloud, Agares shot several balls of fire in the direction of Draken. Using his tongue as a stop gap of sorts allowed him to cut off the stream of fire and create fireballs instead.

Draken merely stood in one spot as the dust surrounded him hiding Agares. Draken gave one beat of his wings he used his power over wind cleaning the area making Agares visible as he sent fire balls.

“Hmf, you think you breathe of fire can harm me or any dragon that has scales for that matter?” Draken spoke where he then took control of two of the fire balls, stopping them in mid-air before sending them directly back into the attackers chest.

Agares stood there, barely harmed from that attack. "Should you not take your own advice then?... Why lecture me about fire and dragon scales, only to return a fire attack..."

Agares clenched his claws once again. He was at a disadvantage in this fight from the very beginning. While most dragons had two forms of abilities, Agares was only aware of his titanium exoskeleton, therefore limiting what he could do 'magic wise'. His second ability was still a mystery.

Agares pushed himself forward, flying mere meters over the ground as he headed towards Draken. His right front claw was outstrecthed as he smashed his full weight into draken, his titanium claw attempting to grip the neck of Draken, whilst his tail swung around heading towards one of drakens hind legs.

“It’s to prove a point you fool.” Draken spoke as he readied his stance when he saw Agares launching himself towards him. He knew that his exoskeleton would be hard to break but this wouldn’t be the first time he did it either way. When Agares hit him head on Draken used his own brute force making sure that he didn’t get knocked over.

He used his own claws to block Agares attack when all of the sudden giant lumps of rocks flew from out of nowhere, several hitting Agares in the head and side, followed by several lightning bolts from the storm that was still forming.

((how long do you want to make this battle? xd.png))

((Dunno :3))

Agares grinned, the king was foolish. Being hit by earth was no different to being punched really hard, and thanks to his titanium shell, such physical attacks were nothing more then a hard poke. Not even bothering to dodge the rocks, he let them hit, whilst simultaneously impaling the earth beneath him with his blade like tail.

With his tail in the ground and his titanium body acting as a makeshift lightning rod, the lightning that struck him would be redirected and dispersed into the earth.

"It won't be that easy..." he taunted, "....my king..." this time hissing the last part.

With both dragon's claws in contact, Agares began to clench, using his sharpened claws to dig into Draken's scales, whilst also releasing a torrent of flame aimed at Drakens face. It may not hurt, but it would help hinder the dragon's eyesight.

Draken merely smiled as Agares started blasting flames in his face, with his tail in the ground and both dragons in clawed battle Draken couldn’t feel happier. It was in a dragon’s nature to fight, it’s part of them in every way.

He continued his rock assault and lightning but now it was with fire and seeing that dragons might be fire poof outside they weren’t completely on the inside. It’s a little trick his father taught him when he was train with him, which easily renders a dragon useless and weak.

Using his power over fire he wielded Agares fire and forced it back into him, scorching the vital insides that aren’t fire proof. Draken then used his own fire pushing it down Agares throat causing more damage.

Agares immediately released his grip from Draken and leapt into the air, with his wings outstretched, he let the wind from the storm push him back a safe distance, before landing back down on the ground.

He held his neck low, smoke escaping from his mouth as he panted heavily. That last attack had caught him completely by surprised and he was paying for it now.

"That was a dirty trick..." he growled. Finding it difficult to talk right now

“Haha…” Draken laughed before turning serious again. “You should have thought about the rules better.” Draken spoke as he finally gave his first steps in the battle walking slowly towards Agares.

“Now you see you have a problem. For a dragon to get hurt from the inside causes an awkward situation.” Draken spoke stopping a few metres away from Agares but as he spoke he sent another giant rock into his side. The rock bust in to bits as it hit Agares but an extra crack echoed through the area. His titanium exoskeleton cracked due to his injuries from inside and this was every dragon’s weakness.

“Being injured from inside is one of the worst things that can happen to a dragon.” Draken stated once again but this time several more rocks started to float and circle Agares. “And you said you don’t need training. Besides training with your rider might actually open that hidden second power of yours.”

Luthiel held on tight as Evtria landed, looking around her. They seemed to have landed in some kind of courtyard, though she wasnt sure where in Dragoria exactly. She stood on Evtria's back, looking around once more before walking down her back and along her tail to the floor. Evtria brought her head around and looked at Luthiel as she hoisted her bag over her shoulder and looked around. What now? she wondered.

Agares stood his ground as he was continously pelted with fragments of rock from the earth magic. As of now, his titanium skin was holding up, however signs that it was beginning to fall apart were clearly visible with cracks appearing everywhere.

This was mostly due to Agares being unable to maintain the magic required for the exoskeleton, largely due to the last attack being a critical hit.

"Be quiet you!" growled Agares, panting. "I'll be damned if that human brat has anything to do with my second power!" Agares began to charge forward, he had to finish this off before he could no longer maintain the exoskeleton.

Nearing Draken, Agares stopped and twisted his body, the only part covered in titanium was his tail, which swung through the air heading towards Draken.

Draken watched Agares charge but waited till he made his move. He saw his titanium tail heading towards him but Draken charged himself. Jumping over the flying metal tail Draken landed on Agares back and sinking his jaws into the dragon’s neck while his claws dug into the wings of Agares. The crunch of scales in his jaws soon started to leak blood as his teeth sunk deeper into his skin.

Agares howled in pain as he felt Draken's teeth sink into the flesh of his neck. He was now thrashing about wildly as he tried desperately to shake the king off, his tail swinging about in the air, and his claws clawing away at the earth.

With the last off his strength, he pushed himself up onto his feet and attempted to push Draken into the side of the mountain.

Draken flinched as his body hit the mountain side but refused to let go of his grip. He could feel some of the rock pressing heavily against his scales nearly piercing through. Agares was now on top of him and the body of the dragon wasn’t really something light. He needs to end this now.

Using his fore claws Draken bore his nails into Agares chest, tearing away scales leaving raw flesh. He did this several times while his jaws were still tightly around the dragon’s neck. Struggling to keep them both on their backs Draken finally called upon his storm again but this time it was different.

The several lightning bolts ran down from the sky hitting Agares on the raw parts of his body causing more damage than it did the first time. This wasn’t a thunder storm anymore; this was now an electrical storm which strike was twice as potent.

Elena quickly stood up as she noticed the “fireworks” in the distance. She could feel the flow of magic running through her as Draken fought in his challenge. He was after all only using part of his strength. She could only hope that he will come out the winner and that he might have taught that arrogant dragon a lesson.

Luthiel looked around. "Is this a training area?" she asked, looking around. It seemed to be, though she wasn't sure. It was empty, which struck her as strange. The one time she'd been to a town were there was an arena, it was always full of people. She glanced around once more.

"It is," Evtria replied. She settled down on the ground, closing her wings to her sides, the whole of her shimmering in the sunlight, like a thousand diamonds. (sorry, not sure if the dragons 'talk' in this, speak, or if they don't say anything at all)

Luthiel nodded, tightening her belt, which had her sword, medicine pack, and two daggers. She'd never left home without it. "Well, I guess we'll just wait here then," she said.

((right now it's not empty))

Nepula saw another rider coming into the arena, but they seemed to not know where everyone is. Nepula breathed a burst of fire into the air that signaled them to come here.

Amacules has been watching the skies since the first thunder. Now when she looked to the mountains she could see an electrical storm. Is this the king's doing? She thought, And I haven't seen agares since that fiasco

Agares howled in agony as he was struck multiple times by the electrical storm, his body and tail no longer acting like a lightning rod due to his exoskeleton having disappeared.

He was trying desperately to break free, as blood began to flow out of his wounds. His desire not to be beaten here evident as he refused to submit to Draken's power

((davinhadaway2 I'm not quite sure where you are but it early morning and still dark outside... and most of the other students is in the training area.))

Draken clinged too Agares even though he was still caught under the weight of the large dragon. He was indeed a stubborn dragon where others would have given up already he was still trying to win this. Of course Draken couldn’t allow him to win, not such an arrogant, disobedient, ruthless fool should ever rule over dragons.

Using his hind legs Draken pinned Agares tail to the ground while his own tail curved from underneath the pair and swayed from side to side like a snake ready to strike in front of Agares. If he wants more pain then he will give him more pain. Like a scorpions stinger Draken’s tail struck into Agares side several times, until it hovered in front of him again, waiting for his second attack.

Agares was now finding it far more difficult to move, with his injuries even the slightest of movement was causing a stinging sensation around his body.

Dragons who did not value their pride would have submitted long ago, but to Agares, his pride as a dragon meant everything. Preparing himself for the pain he was about to feel, Agares released a jet of flame directly up at the mountains, in turn causing several large boulders to start falling towards the pair.

Once again Agares howled, as the inside of his mouth and throat stung.

Draken bit even harder as the pressure of Agares weight and rocks that were pilling on them now. If this continued his wing bones might crack under the pressure. Taking a few deep breaths Draken force the rocks off both of them and started pushing Agares of him as well. Finally letting go of his grip on his neck Draken used his hind legs and kicked the arrogant dragon a few feet away. The king rose shaking of dust and smaller rocks from himself then looked at Agares.

“So what now? You’re as weak as a new born hatchling, unwise and just utterly stupid. You’re nothing but a weakling.” Draken spoke licking the blood of his lips.

"Perhaps your majesty" said Bryagh slinking out of the shadows. "You would allow me to instruct him in your stead? You have so much do to I am sure."

Bryagh sat near the two warring dragons and coiling his tail around himself. Narcissa was perched on his back, peering over his shoulder.
