Pet Peeves

Recommended Posts

When people refer to someone who is pregnant as "prego" or "preggers." makes me cringe and just Gets. On. My. Nerves. every time.

... I'm pretty sure if anyone ever does that to me if/when I'm pregnant I'll wind up screaming, crying, hitting them with the nearest heavy object, or some combination of the three. Then, at least, I'd be able to blame it on hormones. >.<

Chatspeak. I just can't deal with it. tongue.gif

I could go on for hours and hours about how it's causing my generation to lose all touch with our language. These horrible grammatical mistakes, in some circles, are seen as a completely proper way to speak and I think it's horrible. xd.png

And seconding chronicsleeper's comment a couple of posts above. tongue.gif Come to think of it, I agree with most of what people have said in this thread. Tsk, people. If only they didn't exist. rolleyes.gif

People who post other people's work on their DeviantArt, even if they don't claim it as their own. I mean, what's the point of it?

High pitched noises. My parents say I have the ears of a bat, but I can hear sounds at a slightly higher pitch than everyone else. And it drives me freaking nuts!

Annoying haters, especially those who goes like, "Dragonforce suck live", "they sped up their songs in the studio", "you are a f*ggot", "FAKE!11!!!!1111!!!", "you are a noob LOLOLOL" etc.

And the first 2 comments... just go YouTube and see it yourself.

Others:

- People who got frightened when they saw me holding on to a gecko or some other stuffs. Come on, it's just a f**king animal, how is that going to hurt you?!

- Attention censorkip.gifs in DeviantART. Recently I just saw one who uploaded pictures of her genitals without the mature tags... and then long debates. Anyway she's banned permanently in DA.

- People who stomp/kill arthropods (if that's the right term). But seriously...

- Racist, "woman should be in the kitchen" and penis jokes tends to get into my nerve after a while...

- etc.

Deviantart is my Pet Peeve.

Reasons:

People will NOT stop bashing someone just because they don't agree with a them. I've had a few conflicts resulting from this.

People without subscriptions won't get any attention.

The same things are being seen as "special" and "influential" when nothing really changes. It's just a water droplet, people.

I don't mean to rant but lately Deviantart has been really unruly.

Ugh. Another pet peeve: when you're talking to someone and they interrupt you repeatedly, ESPECIALLY when they interrupt you to talk to someone else. Once or twice I can tolerate, but several of my friends do it every. Single. Time. I. Speak. To. Them. And it's aggravated me now to the point where I either:

1. Continue to say what I was saying, literally screaming over their goddamned rudeness, or

2. Yell at them to SHUT UP BECAUSE I AM TALKING AND YOU ARE RUDE.

My GOD urhgurhgurhguhrg.

Some of them have actually made an honest effort to stop interrupting me because I was getting so upset over it. It seems to be a thing down here where I live, my stepdad does it too. >_>

Adding in another dA pet peeve, though technically it could go for almost any site, but I see it there the most.

Essentially people create their very basic character(i.e., very simple and almost nothing truly unique about it), and then are super protective over it, and/or their fans are. The slightest resemblance to the character/artstyle and their ravenous fans will descend and proceed to rip the artist apart. Granted, I have seen a few telling off their fans for such behavior, but it rarely stops them. It is one of the reasons I took a long hiatus from there, the constant worry over whether or not I would be the next one targeted took a lot of the fun out of the site for me.

This all the way.

Preggers. It makes me shudder.

Pet Peeves:

- hypocrites

- slang (especially slang for crude terms, like barf- this is one of the few that I can mention on the forums)

- bad grammar. God, it makes me want to hurt someone. You did not walk threw the forest, you walked through it.

- when people put spaces before sentence-ending punctuation. Apparently it's something that "cool" people do, but it bugs me to no end. Hey ! Does this look normal ? No .

You know what? I am getting really, really tired of people who constantly whine about dA.

"The admins don't do anything!"

"You can't get noticed, if you're not a subscriber!"

"People who don't want others to exploit their species are censorkip.gif*es!"

"You can only get noticed, if you draw porn!"

"Nobody criticises my work there, WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"

Seriously, people, get involved in the community and work hard on your art, so that it is worth someone's time. And learn to think for yourself about what might be wrong with your work, you can't have anything brought to you on a silver platter.

I've been on dA for 5,5 years now and will stay there. Don't get me wrong, there are many things that I don't like about the site every now and then, however, the positive gain (which has been mostly achieved on my own) has greatly outweighed the negative things. I have met many wonderful people there and gained inspiration. I actually learned somewhat how to think on my own about my art through being there. I think that a lot of the bashers lack healthy vision about where they're at and what do they want to do.

"People who don't want others to exploit their species are censorkip.gif*es!"

There is a distinct difference between exploiting a unique species and claiming a generic character as unique. Hell, in a group I remember seeing someone claiming a gryphon combination I have seen a lot of was their own species(hawk and fox), and you couldn't make one without their permission. I may also have been unlucky, and found all the bad people. I seriously watched a great artist fall to pieces while someone else' fans tore them up. The artists who these fans were "protecting" were even protesting their fans actions, but that didn't stop them. Granted, this might not go on now, and I haven't seen it since I did return, but these things DID happen, and it was not always a case of theft.

Aha, I see.

I haven't observed much of this, except the case where people were bashing Kilara for not allowing fans to make their own Avian characters, even though she had stated that they go extinct in the course of the story and that she intends to write the story/have them copyrighted. I think it's perfectly understandable when you have a semi-serious species design and intend to publish it, that you don't want random people to make their Mary-Sue rainbow-barf characters out of it. Basically, it would often get to other people at any mention of Kilara to go "I don't understand what's so unique about her species/why the heck people even love her work blahblahblah" and other ugly things, which were probably the main reason why Kilara stopped being involved in the community.

Perhaps I've been relatively well off - OK, I've had the occasional troll coming on just randomly bash me, getting asked whether I do requests, but I generally stay out of trouble/don't try to provoke drama.

This is exactly what happened the other day. The person didn't know how to give credit and didn't mother since they didn't really exist, hence the ~ before their name. People tore them apart. Even after their apologetic journal and removal of the deviation, itself. Yes, mods took down the artwork probably but did they do anything to make sure that poor soul is alright? No. I bet they didn't even tell them how to reference other other people and their works. I red all of their comments. Not ONE was constructive. No human being deserves such disrespect.

I can't judge on the specifics since I don't know them, but "not bothering" to give credit is a pretty serious offense in reality. I would get kicked out of college if I decided not to bother giving credit on essays.

People who think that being all emo and depressed gets them attention. Well, okay, I'll admit it- it does, but not the attention that they want. Essentially these people (including a girl in my class who makes it a point to let everyone know that SHE IS SAD AND LIKES CREEPY THINGS, and I can see right through her, knowing it is just an act) are mocking people who are actually struggling with depression or thoughts of suicide. They see a poem about death or sadness and have to let the whole world know that they think it is awesome. And their Facebook statuses are always lame attempts at pleas for sympathy, such as "I don't care that nobody likes me! My life sucks. I'm so lost and confused. I think I'll go in a corner and cry now." And then their friends are always patting them on the back and saying "Oh, but we like you!"

Girl, you don't know anything about being depressed.

It's when you actually truly hate yourself.

And so much more.

And I don't think you have ever felt that way towards yourself.

Dress in black, but you won't get any sympathy from me.

Because I know- I can see it on their face, hear it in their voice, and just know it through observations- that it is an act. And this bothers the hey out of me. I have been down that road, the road where I stand still for a moment and think I could do it. I could kill myself. The road where I think of certain people, who have made my life miserable, and I start to cry in front of everyone, people I would never, ever allow to see me cry. The road where I go to sleep and want to never wake up.

Been there, done that.

And I am telling you that you have no idea what it is like.

("You" meaning the certain person I am somewhat referring to in this post, a person who is not a member of DC, so don't think I'm talking about any of you guys, lol.)

Well see, actual theft is different, though continual harassment isn't. One of the incidents I was referring to was a very general resemblance to the STYLE and yet the fans were ripping the person to shreds. The artist the fans said she copied from said that he thought that their art was not a copy of his and urged his fans to stop harassing her(to make it clear, I do NOT hold anything against either artist, I think they handled it as well as they could). Eventually they grew bored and left, but that one and other similar incidents left a sour taste in my mouth.

LOL.

I also hate political correctness (especially concerning the saying of 'merry Christmas' and stuff like that, but we won't get into that too much) and Comic Sans when used on anything even REMOTELY professional.

Glitter I don't mind, but only in a controlled environment. XP

people who think depression is something you can just get over and think they have the right to steal your phone charger meaning you have no way to contact friends and family.

oh did i mention they did this after i told them i was indeed on anti depressants and was seeing a psychologist.

quote from that stupid woman "it's all in your head you have to just keep going and ignore it"

and then they tried to make me wear this skimpy little dress whilst trying to lead a skittish calf in a show ring surrounded by people! had they not notice i never wore anything revealing! did they never listen when the other girls expressed concerns about me crying in the store room!

well at least they lost there working with children license for theft of my phone charger...

My top pet peeves:

-Lack of common sense

-People who don't read labels or manuals

-Ignorance

-Stupidity among my own age group

-Stupidity among any age group

-Kids who try to avoid doing what you ask them to do by finding 'loopholes' in a simple request. (Example: I say, 'don't play in here', they say 'we're not playing, we're talking')

-When my dad leaves garbage in the sink, instead of throwing it in the trash, leaving me to clean up soggy napkins and apple cores.
