For me, it really depends.

In most of my breeding projects, I will not inbreed. I like the challenge of it, and I like the trading value afterwards.

But sometimes I just have to inbreed, because it's beautious. wub.gif

If I'm looking for a frozen hatchling to finish off my collection of a breed, inbreds from the AP are the second-most likely lineage to be frozen to fulfill that requirement (with messy-lineages as my top pick), but that doesn't mean all inbreds are frozen - many reach adulthood, as well. (And many CBs are frozen for my hatchling requirements, too).

If it's a pretty and organized inbred lineage, I don't care it's inbred, I'm keeping it.

That said, most of my inbreds have "IB" somewhere in the name (as a prefix, suffix, or beginning of their name). This is so I don't breed an inbred dragon for someone wanting a non-inbred one... The ones that don't have the "IB" are typically for a breeding project with a naming convention requirement, like my Targaryens.

So, in short... I am more interested in pretty lineages and CBs to build pretty lineages from than I am in whether or not a dragon is inbred. Most of my breeding projects are not inbred, because of the challenge, but I have some inbred ones because I wanted them.

I think of inbreds as I think of deadlines. If the lineage is attractive enough to look at, and the inbred or deadline fits with the theme, then it's all the prettier for it. The only time when they're a factor in my valuing are when I'm thinking of trading value of the dragon's offspring (and I don't trade much anymore, so that happens rarely).

Oh yeah I almost forgot... I will breed my inbred BPink and let the babies grow, because it's a fast and easy way to guarantee getting Pinks. I breed my BPink with my Frilled CB boy, lol.

I don't see what the big deal about them is. Big lineage? Whoop-de-doo.

honestly who really cares? its a game, first of all. second, people are literally getting rid of dragons because of it. how would you feel if you turned out to be inbred. XDDD

I don't like inbred dragons in general and I mostly use them for zombie fodder (though lately I just collect a few easy cave-borns instead). I usually just get rid of them when I find them.

I would never inbreed myself, but I treat inbreeds that I find abandoned like regular. They have nothing wrong with them, and I personally can't stomach the thought of killing an egg or dragon with potential. I just let the dragon grow, but not breed it. Just in case, I do no trade any inbreds. However, I stand by my self-set rule of not killing or abandoning any of my dragons. I don't have a Vampire dragon, sooo...

Depends on what the lineage type is and age. If it’s a hatchling whose lineage is messy and inbred but not extremely high generation, I’d freeze it. But in the case of this, they’re cool.

I don't really collect inbreds and often freeze or deadline ones I do end up getting.

Depends on the lineage though. I went out of my way to breed this boy:

For the most part I don't like inbreds and don't collect them, unless they're crazy high gens (70+)

But if they're a BSA, celestial or truffle I don't care because I just want as many of those as possible

I'm very happy to find an inbred in the AP. I don't breed much in general so I don't purposely breed inbreds, but I welcome them on my scroll and my 'Lovely Inbreds' group is currently sitting at 1,901 dragons. Honestly one of the reasons I started collecting inbreds is because so many users don't like them, I always feel sorry for the draggie and want to give it a nice home.

I'm always amazed to see long inbred lineages like the ones linked above, it's so impressive and pretty and I can't even imagine the work that goes into making those.

I like purposely inbred lineage projects as much as any other unique lineage. I think it's really cool when people have super long inbred lineages that almost crash your browser when it attempts to load them. :P I have this one that I started a long time ago and even though it's never been a priority of mine to add to it, I'll probably try to continue it up to 12G eventually...

What I do with them depends on a few things. Does it have a cool code? If so I may keep it. If its around the holidays, or I have used up my kills and am bored, I will try to vamp them. I have now built a mini tradition to vamp inbred holiday eggs which I keep accidentally picking up XD its part of a story which I need to write up.

This one being a more recent example:

It does have a messy lineage, but I don't see where it's inbred?

I create them on purpose :D

For AP finds, it really depends on the lineage. In case of sibling checkers like those linked in posts above, I'll look for the breeder and ask for a sibling so I can continue the line. In this case, it took 5 years for the breeder to send me a Minty! https://dragcave.net/lineage/XEtLP

Sometimes I'm also lucky to find a sibling in the AP  like here: https://dragcave.net/lineage/rrVqC

(Note: of course 2nd gens aren't inbred, but finding the sibling egg was just such an opportunity!)

Otherwise, if I don't have freezies of that breed or just like the hatchling sprite, I'll freeze.

If it's an Aqualis, I'll send it to @HeatherMarie

If none of the above is true, I'll drop it back to the AP for someone else who might like it.

I only bite CBs or eggs I've specifically bred myself for that purpose.

Sometimes inbreeding is accidental, and other times it seems to be done quite on purpose. I've seen dragon lineages where the dragons literally had names like "Help I'm so inbred" and "My mother is my grandmother". And I've noticed dragons whose names end in something like "von Mess", and those always have messy lineages.

I was pretty much "i don't care either way" but  this thread is giving me ideas now for inbred projects!

I am getting closer to my goal with my super inbred golden wyverns.  I'm on Generation 78 and they all came from the same set of original dragons, with every generation after being only one pair, and siblings.

I avoid inbreeding on my end as much as possible, but inbreeding itself isn't generally a reason for me to throw something back to the AP.

I feel kinda bad for how many people seem to hate inbred dragons -- it's not a dragon's fault they're inbred, y'know? I certainly couldn't control whether or not my parents had me, at least.

This is crazy. :D

I breed snakes in real life and inbreeding is part of the process to establish new morphs.

There is not always the possibility to get an unrelated mate with the needed genetics.

So I personally don't care that much.

Because I know many people don't like it, I try to not inbreed my dragons but sometimes this can result in pretty lineages.

Line breeding is a part of exotic rl pet breeding.  Inbreeding in short form.  Good luck to you irl and may none of your sneks ever experience neglect.

I don't typically breed inbred dragons but I do pick them up from the AP sometimes. I typically will freeze or toss back an inbred dragon if it is also messy (except for BSA dragons or rares that I have no adults of). If it is a pretty/clean lineage and the only thing going against it is inbreeding then I will raise the dragon to adulthood but will not breed it. Only time I intentionally breed my inbred dragons is if they are Pink or Red and I have a good lineage match, since I can always use more of those and I don't plan on abandoning or trading them.

I generally do not care, though I do love the parentless ones on my scroll.

I either freeze them, or raise them depending on the type or species.

So far for my breeding projects I have not really concentrated on any single one, but I am working on one for my striped dragons, but no inbreds there as yet, and I think I will be avoiding inbred dragons there for now.

Later on, I would love to do a project with the Egyptian pharaoh names and that will be very inbred. I have not been inspired to start on one as yet.
