Posted October 21, 2010 (edited) Book Number: 15 Number Of Pages: 447 Book Title: The Apprenticeship of Big Toe P Author: Rieko Matsuura Rating: 4.5/5 Review: Quite a striking, though humorous, definitely-to-get-R-rated novel about a young woman whose big toe on her right foot turns into a penis and her journey afterwards with a group of people who have different sexual oddities. This novel quite touches the themes of sexual maturation and gender identity. Not for the prude/squeamish, but I'd definitely recommend reading this to everybody else. Very tidy and not entirely realistic, but again, kid's book. The plot was interesting, I liked the characters, and it's the first book I've ever read in a foreign language (German -- I'm a native English speaker) so I'm very excited to have finished it! *I cleared this with the mods first. It's written in a language that I only started learning a little while ago, so they gave me permission even though it's a few pages short of the 100 page requirement.
