Well, just got off the phone with the Endocrinologist (thyroid specialist) She says thyroid function is normal (amazing is the word she used) and sugar levels are good, so I am not pre diabetic, but my insulin levels are 6 points higher than normal, so she has set me up with a nutritionist to see about correcting that with a low carb diet. If that doesn't fix it (which it likely won't, because I am TERRIBLE at sticking to diet regimes) I am to go on yet ANOTHER medication to help correct it (lack luster *yay*) I gained back all the weight I had lost as well (back up to 221.4 I WAS at 215 😕 )

Overall, the visit was positive and we're gonna focus on that.

I am so, so sleepy now though, and I have to leave for work in a half hour. Gotta chug this coffee and start getting ready.

Have a great day all :3

It was hot and icky here today, and my shop had no power as the electricity company was trimming trees along the road. We closed an hour early as it was too hot to function.

yep.

so today we had a vet appointment for one of our kitties, Arthur - when we adopted him, he'd finally recovered from a severe upper respiratory infection.  he was rescued in January 2021, but wasn't well enough to be adopted until like May 2021.  so at the beginning of June, we adopted Arthur and Molly as a bonded pair.  but lately, Arthur had been sneezing, wheezing sometimes, and was congested, mostly at night.

it took us 2 weeks until the appointment, so when hubby took him to the vet today..... he wasn't getting enough oxygen, and hubby took to the emergency vet. he was in an oxygenated room and was doing better from when he first got there. since they weren't sure what's actually happening, he's having a chest xray tonight, and they'll know more after that.  he gets to spend the night though, but he'll have to come home tomorrow (vet stays are expensive!) like humans, he'll be much happier at home.

totally not on my bingo card for today. *sigh*

very true.

we'd figured, up until he was all congested and sneezy every night, it was just leftovers from the original infection.

yeah, I understand that. I think one of my bf's cats has a similar issue? they need to get meds every now and again to deal with it (fortunately not too often).

if Arthur needs meds, hopefully he'll take the pills in the pill pocket treats.... or in his kitty food, like our old lady Angel, who needs thyroid meds.  we give it to her in a little bit of kitten food. XD

Hope Arthur will be okay.

Giving meds to kitties is not really fun.

Didn't get my car back today. They needed to order a part for it, which may not come in until next week, so with the holiday who knows when I will have it. We can mostly get by on one car and I don't think we have any plans that take us to different places at the same time. I just don't like to drive hubby's car. Ugh!

One of my guinea pigs had a URI when I got him (from Petsmart, which I know. It's bad), and he's stunted in his growth and sneezes constantly. So I understand why you'd think that it would affect him over time. Maybe it does. I'm not a vet, but I do hope that he feels better. ❤️ And that tomorrow is a better day for you!

thanks!

although.... if he likes the pill pockets, that will be helpful :)

we have an update from the vet: the x-ray showed an all-clear with his lungs, and his congestion and breathing with his mouth open could be asthma.  he was really breathing rough at the vet, and we had a rough time getting him in the carrier.  the vet did observe him in a room by himself, not getting examined or anything, and his breathing was much better.  i had a thought he could have been having a kitty anxiety/panic attack.

but, because of the earlier URI, the bacteria could have been woken up somehow.  so he's getting meds tonight, and they'll be returning the oxygen back to a normal level overnight, so that he should be fine to come home tomorrow.  hopefully :)

moving will be fun. XD

Good morning, CPA! B)

*sets out coffee, teas, juices, apples, brownies, and croissants with butter and jam*

The workmen here keep forgetting to close the yard gate. I'm very lucky not to have lost the dog yesterday as I didn't notice till quite late and he has free run of the yard.

thanks waterscorpion and lagie! :)

because of our work schedules, Arthur is coming home this evening.  they redid the xray, and it showed a few things that i don't really remember wtf the vet even said.  some things happen, and some things can be alleviated with meds.  so i'll be going with hubby to pick up Arthur, and so i can keep track of everything the vet says about meds, cause hubby doesn't do that XD

Hi guys~ I'm glad that Arthur's coming home. (Also those names are amazing, Arthur and Molly). Today is one of my friend's guinea pigs turned 4 today, and I have zero idea how that little potato is 4. lol.

oh we are too!

they're a bonded pair - Molly's original shelter name was Molly Brown, like the Unsinkable Molly Brown who survived the Titanic; and Arthur's original shelter name was Rumpleteazer, like from Cats.  (i'm sure there was a Mungojerrie too, and neverminding that Rumpleteazer was a girl in Cats!)  so i said if her name is Molly, then his name is Arthur.  and we were joking he was actually Arthur Wheezy, not Weasley XD

isn't it?

yaay for swimming!

Arthur is home, meowing up a storm. he had some dinner, and has had lots of drinks. the actual diagnosis is asthma, and we have 2 meds to give him for a few weeks now, and follow up with our regular vet next week.  that'll be fun, since we had to wait two weeks to get the appointment we had yesterday  yeesh.

Our appointments right now are being booked for almost a month away. We're short-staffed in the vet department and have only three clinic times per week.
