I just had TWO Silver refuse their respective partners! One was long-awaited and to have him refused like this is maddening. I've been having more and more of these lately and really hate it. Is anything being done about this or do we just continue to wail in vain?

Had previously tried building (imperfect) mate for Thuwed acquired last November, had a number of Refusals putting it together, did eventually get it done but it wasn't what he should have had.

 

In order to make a more suitable mate, I was gifted this: Samhain WitchFyre http://dragcave.net/view/BqCig back in December, to breed to this: Trion 3G Pumpkin http://dragcave.net/view/68tIV so can re-breed for the right Pygmy once they come off cool-down in another day but I had been happy to put off breeding for the Misfit mate in the first place because the Refusals (generally as well as no interest/no-egg/wrong egg results) were so freaking discouraging and breeding new pairings so stressful.

 

I really dread trying new pairings now, unless between Commons I have plenty of replacements for...

 

And breeding really doesn't seem much fun anymore.

I have more of the Commons for the Prize pairings, so that's just an annoying waste where I likely wouldn't have wound up with a shiny anyway.

 

I haven't been much breeding new pairings, keep putting them off, but the Thuwed one is annoying because the first mate bred was Refused, had some no egg/wrong sprite stuff, then managed the right Pygmy, only to have another Refusal.

 

I was gifted a lovely back-up to try as a mate, but would rather, if possible use a mate with a checker to match the other side.

 

And I have some various other prospective pairings I'll have to try, but where replacement mates may be difficult to obtain, I find that I tend to procrastinate a lot - and the first thing I thought upon recently receiving a another mate to replace one that had Refused the first mate I'd found for it in years was - 'it's gorgeous - I hope they don't Refuse..." lol, and I'll need another replacement mate for the other Refused mate as well...

 

But I did get lucky on finding a mate to try with the one.

Just got a refusal between a swallowtail x anagallis.

Bred two eggs and got one new interest for other anagallis mates (eggs from stripes and no interested from ridge).

Is this thread a discussion of only new refusal experiences or just any refusal experiences in general?

Any refusal is new, since it can only happen on the first ever breeding of a pair. First post says, this thread is "a place to discuss your experiences with refusals and post your pairings that have refused"

 

 

So I had a Silver Shimmerscale that I traded for: https://dragcave.net/lineage/LRkr9 and she went and refused my only CB Wrapping Wing.

Later, I found a Gold Shimmerscale on the AP: https://dragcave.net/lineage/gNZg8 and he went and refused my only CB Ribbon Dancer.

(Yes, that's because I froze the 2nd CB of each, thinking I would never ever get the chance at a 3rd one to get the hatchling sprite on my scroll. I wish I could undo this now.)

Either way, those two Shimmers now ravel in their holiday phobia with each other and send Silver Shimmers to the AP every now and then because Shimmers of 2 different colors will only ever spit out ONE color . Kind of a crooked Happy End!

They have the same chance as very old dragons have. Many people just don't build new pairs from old dragons which is probably why nobody notices these ...

Yeah, I recently bred a bunch of my old dragons and had a couple refusals in there. I think age doesn't factor into it at all.
