worst injury ever happened to you

Recommended Posts

Tipping a pan of hot oil all over my left arm and right wrist.

Not recommended.

It was about 18 months ago and I was taking a pan of hot oil out of the oven - making Yorkshire puddings - the oil spit and splashed on my right wrist. I jumped and dropped the pan, in the process spilling the contents all over my left arm and hand.

I had a sweatshirt on and I did the worse thing that anyone can do, the one thing that I KNEW you should never do to a burn, I pulled off my sweatshirt. And the top few layers of skin.

I had deep partial thickness burns from my elbow to my fingers on my left arm and superficial partial thickness burns on my right wrist. I spent 3 days in hospital in the burns unit, then I had to visit the burn clinic every other day for dressing changes for 5 weeks. I had two surgical debridements, artificial skin (awesome stuff) and one hell of an infection by week 2. After it had healed I had to wear pressure dressings for three months to stop the scars building up, then I had to have physio to regain the movement and reduce skin tightness on my left hand.

I never, ever, want to go through that again.

Yikes >_<

Most serious injury I had was a broken arm with a dislocated growth plate. THAT was scary.

O_O How did you not break your back?!

The best guess I have is that the stallion wasn't full size yet, and my body went limp from the unexpected hit, and that he did the mating pose with me so that he didn't go BODY SLAM but... sort of... bumped me forwards with his front legs on my shoulders.

(I'm horse-sexy?)

I just kind of stepped forwards, but I have no memory of how I got away, the next memory is from doing an action stunt worthy roll below the electric fence to gtfo. xd.png

I fell on a glass vase in the house near the door and a lot of blood was coming out of my right leg got to hospital, the doctors stiched it up and still have the scar 4 years later. *shivers at the memory* Not nice so be warned:Never ever run around anywhere when there is something sharp and made of glass nearby it could scar you for life.

Worst injuries...

I'm lucky that mine aren't really serious.

When I was small, I was asleep, and kicked the wall. There was one of these on the wall.

Yay for small chunks of toe missing. :/

I fell off of my bike once, and bruised/pulled the muscle in my arm. No breaks, luckily biggrin.gif.

And then there was the time that horse stood on my pinkie toe, and broke it. That was nasty.

That sucks.

Burns: Yeah, I'm OK now. I don't have quite the range of movement in my left hand as I did previously, but it is up to around 90% which is good enough. My scars are OK and fading. The artificial skin was fabulous stuff. Apparently I had £5000 worth of the stuff on my arm! This was on the deepest part and was only around 8 inches square in total. That part was the worst of the burns but has healed the smoothest. The worst part about it now is having to constantly keep it out of sunlight due to the risk of skin cancer. Means I can't wear short sleeves in the summer, or if I do, I have to cover the scars up with a tubeligrip bandage.

At least I am not growing and don't have to have further skin grafts. That must really suck for your granddaughter.

Thats kinda funny because...

I HAZ NO INJURES! I AM INVINCIBLE!

Jk, I have one. Apparently when I was a toddler I was in my grandparents house and I bumped into this chair, sharp and metal, the part where you sit on, the horizontal bit (I was that small) and got some stiches. I still have the scar on my forehead. But no, it does not compare to Harry potters dry.gif .

Otherwise I have never been stung by a bee.

My tonsils are intact.

Never a broken bone for me.

My body does not dislocate.

I have never burned myself.

And I have never been sick for more then a week.

Or have been in the hospital other then when I was born, when I got that mark on my forehead, and of course when I visit people there.

My bruises never tend to big.

Oh and I have a ridiculously high pain tolerance.

I have never used an ice pack from the nurse (though my friends need them like every month)

Call me lucky laugh.gif . Its also nice because I am a bit of a daredevil and I take plenty of risks, just everything turns out well. Its funny to think how un-injured I am. Although I messed up my leg at basketball last weekend, stopped hurting later that day, and then it started hurting when I did basketball again yesterday. It sucked. I have made a slogan out of that.

Internet, the only sport that won't hurt you

Oh, yeah, I forgot the time I stepped on a yellow jacket nest last summer. I was with my friend in the woods, and the nest was hidden by a bush. I stepped on it, and got chased all the way back to his house. My friend was beating the things off of me with a net, and he only got one sting. I got arouind fifty, I think, including on my head and neck. I'm not allergic, but it hurt a lot. I got at least ten stings on my ankle, and it took months for the scars there to go away. The doctors said I was lucky I didn't have to go to the hospital. But it is not fun having that much venom in your body. I can't imagine what would've happened if I were allergic. As you can imagine, I'm completely terrified of bees and wasps now.

I fractured my skull in two places falling off the high diving board at the community pool and onto the concrete pool deck. Almost landed on a lifeguard.

I think it was when I fell down from something, I don't remember what it was exactly (I was just seven years old, and my memory isn't too good), something that you maybe can count as a fence or somthing in like that... Ah well, I fell about two meters (not too much, I know) and it was my head that took the smash into the edge of the terrace... And the terrace was made out of concrete that was old and wasn't whole, it was in small, small pieces and had really sharp edges everywhere... (And this happened when I was in school... So after I fell down from that "fence" they decided to repair the whole terrace... a bit too late if I might say so myself)

Anyways, I got a big bleeding wound on top of my head (I can say that my hair was red instead of brown that day) and the doctors said they were done with me and such after they had taken away the concrete from within my head, but even though they said that back then I didn't belive them since it still can come some concrete out of bad wounds on other places (for example a few came out from a wound on my knee once, and some on my arm and foot)... And it still hurts to touch the place where my scar is, even though it was almost eleven years ago I fell down from that stupid "fence". /:

I got hit in the face with a baseball...btw, braces makes it hurt more sad.gif Hmmm... come to think of it, having braces turns your mouth into a pain magnet. basketball to the face in grade 6. Toy plastic thing to the face in grade.....8? Maybe that's why I stopped taking gym in grade ten.

Can't say I've ever really hurt much. x: I'm a pretty safe person most of the time.

I've been hit in the eye with a baseball... I've smashed my lip on a dash when the car stopped short...

I think the worst I can think of is when I was a little kid running around in gym. The walls had garage-like doors and I smacked the top of my head against the metal siding where the door slides up and down. I looked down after a moment and blood dripped down my face. x: needless to say, I freaked out.

...Actually, though this doesn't really count as an injury, I was born with extremely bad asthma.

I would have really bad asthma attacks until I was about... What... Four? Five? Meh, anyways, I would end up sitting at a nebulizer (machine to help with asthma) for thirty minutes minimum if I even started to have trouble breathing.

The way a nebulizer works is that you put a kind of 'gas mask' on, and start to breathe in medicine that was in the air the nebulizer supplied.

...Or, at least, that's how I remember using it, my memory is kind of spotty...

But after I was four or five my asthma started to recede, and I've only had to take a 'puff' from my asthma inhaler once or twice since then.

...Yes, I know that it's not an injury, but it still sucked to have to do that.

And yes, I know that this form of nebulizer sounds big and bulky because, well, it was (Or, at least, that's how I saw it when I was young). My family wasn't able to afford a very good one at time, so it wasn't 'small', it was medium sized, but it definitely wasn't portable like the ones we have today :U

There have been a few things...

One: I broke my arm when I was 7-8. It was broken so badly that they had to fly in a specialist who did two surgeries to piece it back together. I have plates and screws in it. I also have a massive scar on my arm from it. Fell off the monkey-bars and onto a 2x4

Before I move on to two I want you all to understand just how much of a freak accident this was. Because if I was still playing baseball today I'd be playing in college (probably be too lazy to become good enough for pro, but you never know).

Two. It was the first practice of the baseball season. The fields hadn't been raked all summer, so it was very rocky and rough. So I'm on second, practicing my fielding. The coach is hitting balls to us. He hits one to me. I'm down, set for it, and it takes a hop that should have been impossible just in front of me. Been watching baseball for 15 years, and I've never seen a ball take a bounce like that. It goes straight up and hits my lip, splits it wide open. I end up with... I want to say between 9-12 stitches. I think it damaged some of the nerves/muscles in my face, because it's very hard for me to move the right side of my face. Hardly noticeable, but I notice it.

I'd say the bullet wound above my knee was the worst.

*apparently I look like a deer*

But the broken wrist hurt more ohmy.gif

I hit my toe on a lawn chair once. My pinky toe. The entire toe and some of the foot was bruised. I couldn't walk on it and most of the nail had been chipped off.

hmmm, the second worst injury(also the most recent).

we had to clean and shave our one cat's butt because she can't clean herself properly and her hind quarters are really furry, after which we clipped her nails. she wasn't happy, and we decided to give her a bath. well, i got careless while mom was rinsing her off and i let my finger get to close to her face. *CRUNCH**CRUNCH**CRUNCH**CRUNCH*

needles to say i had a bunch of puncture wounds. 11 total but the bad bit was three of them ended up infected, my finger swelled up and it hurt to bend the second knuckle(one of her teeth got me right there). I had to got on antibiotics to clear the infection out.

Rocky bit me both times, Jaylynn.

Bo-Dee bit me a lot, too. I used to have cuts and scratches all over my

hands and arms from his teeth. >.<

On the morning of my sixth birthday, I was running through a corn field with two friends, trying to avoid their youngest brother. I tripped, and broke my left elbow. The next ten days were spent in traction at the hospital, then had to wear a cast for the next month or so. This happened in July, 1972; if this happened now, I don't think too many insurance companies in the states would pay to hospitalize someone for 10 days due to a fracture. Probably just pin the fractured pieces together and send the patient home.

My worst was probably when my Dad and I were going to pick up a new game I pre-ordered and he accidentally ran over my foot and didn't notice he parked it RIGHT over my foot. I couldn't say anything because I was pretty much in shock tongue.gif

I got out lucky though because the next morning I found only minor bruising. Yay me :3
