worst injury ever happened to you

Recommended Posts

I've never even broken a bone and I'm 44! smile.gif I think the worst injury was a couple years ago when I went to grab a pot of boiling potatoes off the stove. The handle on the pot broke off and dumped still boiling water on my left foot. It burned my foot down to the bone. Other than that, nadda! ha ha

Well, maybe it would be the time when I accidentally fell asleep with my (uncovered) hot water bottle next to me and some time in the night I must have moved my elbow against it. Woke up with *huge* blisters and the scab didn't go away for over a month.

Or long, long ago when I almost stabbed a pencil right through my cheek. That is I stabbed it into my cheek, but the point had maybe a couple of millimetres to go before it poked through into my mouth. I still have the scar. smile.gif

Was running down the hall in fifth grade. Idiot in front of me just stopped, and behind me a fat kid ran into me, I went flying, nearly got a concussion when I slammed my temple onto the corner of a metal door frame.

I got my baby toe trapped under a door and then was pushed. 90 degrees from my foot.

would you believe that my toes actually are able to bend like that?

Worst injury I ever had...

Ya know I have a rather high pain tolrence. But one that sucked was when I stepped on a part of a stable (not the stable gun the little metal bits you put into it) facing the sharp sides up. it went all the way into the heel of my foot , and this was stable gun stuff xd.png

Needless to say I sat on the toliet in the bath room and got my thumb nail under it and yanked it out of my foot, slapped a bandaid on and hobbled over to the phone to call my dad and tell him what happened.

I'm really surpised i didn't get gang green or lock jaw ya know those diseases that having dirty metal bits forced into your skin give you.

I must have done that enough that my immune system is like "oh boy not again" and just takes care of it before I can tell that something's wrong.

Torn the side of my foot open on a rusty nail. Busted my lip when I was a toddler. torn my finger almost off on a metal basket outside that we were playing in the same box with.

hmm...

and jumped off the roof (don't tell my dad)

the key to falling is Pratice Pratice pratice, and letting yourself be loose, don't tense up it'll make the impact worse

A few years ago, I went to New York for a school trip. One evening, we all went ice skating.

I had, and still do, poor co-ordination, and after a few, very wobbly moments, fell over. As I did so, I flung my right hand out in front of me. What I didn't realise, until somebody pointed it out, was that I'd cut my little finger. And it was a fairly deep cut as well.

I'm not absolutely certain how it happened, but I think that as I flung my hand out, my little finger must've hit the blade of an ice skate.

I still have a scar.

oO. Mine can't withough being permanantly messed up. If you had that happen do you think you would have escaped unscathed?

I dunno what my worst injury was... O_O I never had any serious ones.

But I can remember when I was a kid, I was running on the sidewalk and another kid saw me and hit me in the leg, making me fall face-flat on the cement. My knees and elbows were bleeding hard and I still have scars.

I had a wrench a couple of years ago. when it happened, I almost fainted. >.> My leg still hurts if I step in a certain way.

I've remained relatively uninjured, luckily. I did once get a nasty second-degree burn on my leg, though. I spilled boiling soup. Yeah, I have lame injury stories. On the plus side, the giant scar I now have is shaped like Europe, or a squashed Mexico depending on from which angle you look at it.

Mine is a tie between the time my foot slipped on a muddy hill and I bent my knee backwards, and when I twisted my anckle really really badly, when I rotate it I can still hear it pop.

A few years ago I was running around the house and I suddenly felt something IN my foot. I looked and I had somehow jammed a toothpick a centimeter or so into my foot. I pulled it out myself and couldn't walk on that foot for days. I figured the toothpick in question had somehow lodged itself in the carpet and managed to stick up at a 45 degree angle, perfect for lodging itself in the foot of poor passing peoples.

Also once when I was two (or around that age) I slipped on something and my head got smashed into a glass cabinet. I got a piece of glass stuck like an inch into my head. I nearly lost a eye, because it was below my eyebrow, right above my eye. I have a thin scar through my eyebrow where hair doesn't grow, but you can't really see it.

I also got a giant splinter in my foot once that had to be cut out in surgery. Don't remember much about that.

The pinky on my right hand also sticks out at an odd angle and won't close, so I figure something happened to it at one point. I think one of my cousins jumped on it.

When I was in ninth grade, we had to jump as far as we could into a pile of sand. I forgot the name of the sport xd.png. But hell, I found the only hard piece of soil, and I landed ass first. I broke my tail-bone. It hurted like hell, I can tell you. Couldn't sit or walk for a week.

Are we talking SNAFU-type happenstance injury, or surgery?

In the former case, I got a whole grocery list:

1.) I had my knee messed up real bad back in '93 or '94. I was in the pit at Type O Negative; some idiot came blasting across the pit, broadsided me, and I came down on my inside leg. The synovium and meniscus got shredded six ways to Sunday and I had to be half-dragged, half-carried out of the pit and into the infirmary because it wouldn't bear weight. I eventually had to have it stabilized via arthroscopy, the doctor just took all the cartilage out. It's been bone-on-bone rubbing ever since. Basically, I'm praying for healthcare coverage to go through so I can get it replaced, or maybe have a new synovium grown.

2.) Getting premature cataracts and suffering a retinal detachment after surgery to correct that. I can see, but there's a grey blurry section in the vision in that eye. The worse news is I have a mature cataract in the other eye so it could happen again. sad.gif

3.) Got my eardrum blown out at a Crash Worship show, back in '97. Someone thought it would be amusing to detonate a demolitions blasting cap in the audience and I was twenty feet away from it. Over a hundred people sustained injuries and the perp got away.

4.) I was riding a green-broke mare and went to dismount. She shied at something and I came down wrong, major sprained ankle. My foot swelled up to the size of a football and the ligaments never quite healed back to true. That ankle is still wobbly. This was ten years ago.

5.) Missing the tip of my left pinky. We had a car accident on Labor Day weekend back when I was a kid, didn't get to the hospital in time to save the finger. I count that as my least worst since it happened early in my life and I've had 40 years to adapt to one shortened finger. And hey, I'm in good company — Tony Iommi and Jerry Garcia lost fingertips, too!

I've had a few painful moments in my life.

One time I was playing around on some bleachers at Gosnald Hope Park and I jumped off and I scraped my calf on the bleachers. I still have the scar.

Sometime during kindergarten or first grade, I was playing with a stick with our German Shepherd Pepper and he bit my finger. It bled a lot. However, it helped me learn the difference between left and right.

Another time I was at a friend's birthday party at this pool thing at Fort Eustis. It was really cool. It had sand. Anyways, we had just eaten cake and we were going back into the pool and I was chasing someone and I banged my head on the lifeguard chair. I thought nothing of it, until I was in the pool and on this plastic turtle thing. Somebody, I think it was my sister, was trying to say something to me. They had to say it a few times before I understood: "You're bleeding!" So I went to the first-aider and he said that I was braver than most boys he'd seen because I wasn't crying.

My part pit bull Chopper was using my pillow. I tried to put my head on the pillow but she growled at me, so I went back to the foot of the bed. I tried again. This time she growled and then bit me, right above the eye, and then got off the bed. She didn't want to share the pillow. It bled a little. The bite, not the pillow. BTW, Chopper is like the sweetest little dog in the world. She just doesn't like people messing with her when she's trying to sleep or touching her in certain spots.

When I was in eighth grade, I had a mole on my back and a mole on my foot removed. The one on my back was just really itchy, but the one on my foot hurt like dickens until they removed the stitches. I couldn't run normal because it hurt so censorkip.gif much.

A couple years ago I was playing around in the bathroom when the floor was wet and I slipped and banged my foot against the door and it bled a lot.

A few months ago, I was walking down the hallway, minding my own business, when I felt something sharp go across my foot. It was our cat Sam, going after the strings on my pants! I think I still have the scar.

And I think that's it. I have never broken a bone in my life or had a concussion (although I have hit my head a lot).

I'm rather accident-prone lol

Approx. 0.2 seconds old-- punctured my left lung. derp

2 years old-- chopped off the tip of my right middle finger in a sliding glass door. They tried to reattach it but failed. Since I was so young, it mostly grew back but still looks kinda wonky.

6 years old-- broke my nose on the back of someone's head. derp again

7 years old-- cracked my elbow while making my bed. >_>

13 years old-- out on a trail ride, kicked in the knee by one of the other horses. Oh God it bled.

The spot on my front right nostril. Right on the edge. It irritates me, it itches, but I can pop it or pick my nose or sneeze.

My worst injury happened yesterday. Well, it started the day before yesterday I thought I had and ear infection. I am a tiny bit prone to getting ear infections, but usually doctor says "here is your prescription yes indeed your ear is swollen bye". I have only had one ear infection in the past 5 years so I guess by usually I am partially lying. That was the only time somebody has said that to me. Anyway a day later, we go to this emergency room place, get the forms done and go to the nurse who writes down the problem and checks my other ear for a fever. He says [Dr. somebody] will be over there to check you in 2 minutes. 2 mins later, I am in [Dr. somebody]s room. When he looks into my ear with a light he says "I have never seen anything like this before". Words you never want to hear a doctor say. He follows that by "Now I don't want this to upset you by this but I think there may be a bugs in your ear or some foreign matter, but thats probably unrelated. I see little black dots, maybe ants or something. Calm down, it's okay, I will call the specialist, he will suck them out with this little thing, don't worry". He asked me if I stuck anything in my ear. rolleyes.gif I end up watching a really stupid cartoon in the waiting lounge for half an hour, the ear person arrives and guess what? I have a tick deep into my ear and the black stuff is probably poop, some deep as well, some right by the surface. The tick getting pulled out hurt like hell. I was screaming and crying. The pain was unbearable, hands down the most painful thing that ever hurt in my life. He was rooted deep, let me tell you. The metal suction thing for those little hard black things everywhere for each one was about 70% of the pain of the actual tick. I clenched my teeth, held on to my mothers hand and tried to keep still as I could. Now let me tell you, for that type of operation general anesthesia was a real option, but I didn't bother, to much complication, even with zero pain. Finally he said "Good as gold" and I was so happy to leave. As of now it is REALLY sore, but very bearable. The thing is, it took three days for the pain to wear off from a removed tick bite on my toe from earlier that week, so on the sensitive part of my ear, it should be pretty painful for a week. But it hurts to touch my ear, take my shirt of, put my hair over my ear, press below my ear, move my head really fast, and a bunch of other things. Maybe it's not really an injury, but it sure was my most painful experience.

Cracked ribs, broken arm, broken both legs once...

The broken ribs were by far the worst IMO.

I sprained my right ankle while I was running around outside. I couldn't walk properly for almost 3 weeks and the very next day, my dog scratched my face and I got poison ivy.

Also, when I was about 6 years old, one of my former friends wanted me to ride down this absolutely huge, concrete ramp with my bike, which was a passageway to the laundry room of the apartment complex I lived in. So, I sat on my bike, a little nervous and finally concluded that it was too dangerous. So, as I tried to get off, he(former friend) pushed me down the ramp. Down the ramp I went and at the bottom, I crashed head on into the concrete wall at about 20 mph(that ramp was huge!). I had to go to the hospital because some people thought I broke a bone but fortunately, all I got was a bruise on my hip area. Good thing I was wearing his helmet.

I feel lucky. I haven't got very bad injuries.

I'd say the worst one was when I broke my chin at a swimming pool. Was being foolish around the corner. o.e Bad choice. First time even in the hospital, first time ever getting stitches. I don't remember how much it hurt, because it was back in the summer that I was going into first grade.

And that wasn't even that bad.

I feel lucky.

The worst injury that ever happened to me was being beaten by metal construction poles (used to keep the cement together) by bullies in 5th grade. Ended up with scars on my back, still there to this day. dry.gif
