Solstice Sprites

Mixed feelings here... I like the sunset wings the best, although the blue ones are beautiful too... it doesn't disturb my lineages too much, I think, if only this does not become a random thing. alternating each year would be cool, I think. But it is sad for those without B ones who were hoping for the dragon they missed last year and not a differently coloured version of it.

If all of the 2Gens have blue wings, it seems that the original colour will be more like those discontinued.

Maybe we should make a BSA that can switch any adult Solstice between the two forms? Aside from the fact it'd be yet another BSA suggestion it'd pretty much solve everyone's problems.

 

Currently my only Christmas dragons are all 2G Solstices, one each with Almandine, Purple Nebula, Falconiform and Bleeding Moon. The Purple Nebula line was going to look a bit odd whatever, the Falconiform line would look better all-blue and the Almandine and Bleeding Moon ones would look better all-sunset. So it would have worked out better for me if everything had stayed sunset.

Yeah it could be one of the presents, but I was thinking the presents would only be available if we filled up the global mana bar each and every day. This is how we become "good" in a sense? /shrug

 

I haven't read any of the stories yet (waiting for them all to unlock ) so not sure if the mana bar is only for unlocking these stories?

That's what I thought, too.

 

In general, I do prefer the "new" look. I'm not fond of discontinued/unachievable sprites, either (with the exception of spriter's alts), but there are so many already that I wouldn't mind another one too much. And I'd prefer it being that way over the new wing colour being reverted.

 

Whatever happens, at least it would not be as frustrating as the Snow Angels, where so many people have the exact wrong version tied to their scroll, the other ones taunting them by being available without problem - just not for them.

I don't mind the blue wings, but I do like the sunset wings much more and I'm glad that I have them from last year. The difference isn't big enough to bug me for lineages, though, so I don't mind much. Okay, the more I think about it the more it bugs me. :s

 

When I noticed it earlier I actually thought it might have something to do with their name and the solstices, but I'm not really sure how that would work. |D; Maybe ones born on or after the 21st would have the sunset wings, and ones born before would have blue? That would explain why all of the current CBs have the sunset and all of the 2G adults so far have blue, and would still make the sunset wing available, but it would be a bit frustrating since no one was told before breeding started. [/pointless speculation]

Has anyone actually asked for the new color to be -reverted-? I haven't seen that. I certainly wouldn't support that. At least, not in any form except the one described earlier by someone wherein people could request to have their Solstices reverted or not. As much as I want to have access to the sunset wings, I would never advocate taking away something that lots of other people like just so I can have my way. That would get me right in the pride place, to be brutally honest, so for sheer self-respect reasons I couldn't support such a blanket measure.

I'm going to be a bit disappointed if they stay blue because I love the 'sunset' wings and I missed out on CBs - entirely my fault, but regardless. I don't mind that much at all though.

I really like the 'original' colors, and I don't understand the logic of having had to put up the all-blue colored version into the game at all...

 

I mean, if the spriter had had in mind to keep the sprites all blue, why submitting the red winged sprite at all....?

While I do think that the blue sprite is still pretty, I much prefer the original Solstices and would like my 2nd gens to be rose-tinted as well :/

One reason I fell so deeply in love with the originals (they're still my number 1 favorite dragon in te cave) was partly because I live in a part of the world that is considered part of the Arctic, and the original Solstices with the rosy tint matched the arctic skies of a clear midwinterday when the sun doesn't quite reach above the horizon yet. It wasn't only a beautiful comparison, it also reminded me of home.

 

So I am disappointed to see my 2nd gen babies with plainly blue wings; they don't stand out as much as the rose-tinted ones does, and I expected them to grow up looking like their mothers. And to top it off, their fathers are Sunsong Amphiteres because the pinks matched so well with them, it's a shame that if I want to continue the lineages with Sunsong fathers the pairing won't look as good anymore.

Both sprites are lovely--I can't decide which I like more. I do hope the ones with pink haven't been completely discontinued, though, both because I don't have any CBs and because one of the 2Gs I snagged this year is a Solstice x Sunsong, which looks as pretty as it does because of the blush on the Solstice's wings. An option to choose which version you want, at least for these first ones where nobody had any idea they'd look different, would be a relief.

That's a very good idea, actually. I think this might be more likely than other theories... We'll see, soon as some of them born after the Solstice.

I don't really mind, as both are pretty, but what a few already said. Hopefully, the pink Solstices will still be available. Perhaps on alternating years, which would be rather cool.

I don't have any CB Solstice Dragons, but at the moment, I have two 2nd gen. Solstice hatchies from Heartseekers. I had hoped that one day I could make a nice checker with them, but now I am beginning to think that with blue-winged Solstice Dragons it won't be the same...

 

Blue-winged version is pretty and all, but I would like to know which sprite I am going to have and why - before I begin to collect eggs and hunt (or trade) for specific 2nd gens.

I hope this is just some type of glitch and is fixed. The new ones aren't bad, but I really despise introducing yet more "you can never have this sprite" elements to the game. The handful we already have are bad enough; the Snow Angels are my least favorite Holiday precisely because they foil the ability to collect every type. So I'll be displeased if this is now the case with Solstices as well. I have CBs, so it won't affect me directly, but it's not fair to everyone else... :/

Exactly my thoughts. Very unfair to new players if this isn't a glitch.

Blue is my favourite colour so I really love the new addition, but I do agree that both colours should be possible to get no matter the gen.

Well, if it is a "present", you generally want that to be a surprise, so it wouldn't be announced. We've had sprite updates occur that were never announced.

This sums my feelings up too. Frankly, right now I have so much RL stuff going on to get sorted for tomorrow that I haven't got time to care one way or another! I guess I'll process it in slow time...

New colors are not worse, I like them, but they do change the look of sprite. I'm happy I focused on getting my silver and heartseeker x solstice first. Now I won't even go for sunrise or sunsong lineages. I guess I am lucky.

For me personally it's not a reason for a drama, but I wish we knew such things in advance.

But it do change lineage appearances, as presents might sometimes become something you don't know what to do with (for example, a necklace this year which is useless, which is why I personally prefer discuss beforehand and give something other people fond of or have uses of). If it's a "present" and for this specific year only, hopefully those CBs will breed their own colour next year (and blue ones breed blue too so those who didn't get them this year can still get them).

I think both types are gorgeous. And would rather think it fun if they switched off every other year, or even if the CB ones were different than any of bred ones. Perhaps it also has something to do with what time they grow up--like the Sunrise/Sunset.

I think both are really nice, but the blue one looks a little plain I think.

The biggest problem is that my plan to buil a checker with solstice and almandine it's not even a neat possibility, since there is no more the purple/pink/red shade that reminded to almandine colour. Above all, solstices are one of my favourite christmas dragon anyway.
