I like this a lot, they're looking at each other and both are green and sparkly but there's nice contrast too.

With Sweetlings they look fabulous! And it's a shame they can't breed with Rosebuds^^ I might try with Heartseekers perhaps, but with terrae it's almost a magical colour combination, I love that! Other than that.. I think the red of the Crimsons is a bit overpowering...

Really like the royal crimson, white and winter. The purple and green wings are nice too, but how many checkers can I make, lol.

 

May also have to do a pink and mistletoe checker, because those are my kids favorite colors.

 

Wonder how royal blue, or water horse would look with it. How do you make these checker pictures?

These were my immediate thoughts - greens, pinks, and blues! Though I quite like them with Golds, too. I'm not sure what I'll breed them with next year...I'll have to see.

After seeing all these example checkers, Frostbites and Water Horses are definitely the way I'm going.

I really like them with undines and ices. Love them with Wrapping-wings. I don't normally do Christmas x Christmas but I may have to do that next year.

 

So far I mostly like them with monochromatic mates. I bet they'd look good with guardians too.

I like the idea of using royal crimsons, to make a red and green checker.

 

Editing this to add that I also really like the idea of a spiral lineage with these as it would actually look more like a festive garland or other decoration. Possibly with different CB mates to mimic the look of different bulbs/ornaments in the garland.

Hard to do spiral lineages with monogendered breeds.

I prefer contrasty pairings, so I'll probably go with my all-time-favourite, Ember, or something like Brute or Cassare.

With Mistletoes being a few favorite dragon, I can't wait to start creating pretty lineages with them. ♥

 

My favorite ideas so far are Teimarr, Frostbite, Lumina, Pink, Spring Seasonal, Winter Seasonal, Terrae, Undine, Silver, Heartseeker, Brute, and Birdzgoboom's Radiant Angel alt (Hey, a gal can dream!).

 

Other good ones I also like are BBW, Fever, Tangar, Mint, Green Nebula, Neotropical, Almandine, White, Gold, Golden Wyvern, Silver Shimmerscale, Sweetling, Radiant Angel, Shadow Walker, Wrapping Wing, Flamingo, Frill, Spotted Greenwing, Guardian, Silver Tinsel, and Waterhorse.

alright here are the ones i think go best with the Mistletoe. (the silver tin, silver shim and soulpeace checkers are wistful dreams, but gah they're lovely. Soulpeace x Mistletoe is by far my fav *nods*. if i get an HM i'm getting a Soulpeace just for this combo )

 

 

first heres a template for anyone that wants to use it

 

BlackTip (matching poses and brings out the teal in this blacktip)

Albino (the paleness of the Albino goes well with the Mistletoe and the poses are good together)

Blackcap (they match very well, but perhaps a bit too much green?? )

Blue Banded (blue just seems to go well with the Mistletoe and the eyes and features of the Blue Banded's match well with the Mistletoe imo)

Frostbite (blue/white + winter theme = perfect match. also the hooks on the noses of both )

Brute (the poses {though the female Brute matches so much better} and the horns )

Gold (cause what doesn't go good with golds )

Spotted Greenwing (love what the Mistletoe does tot he accent of green on the Greenwing)

Ice (one of my top fav pairs for the Mistletoe the boldness of the blue in the Ice doesn't over power the Mistletoe, and instead the light blues seem to shine )

Gaurdian of Nature (i'm guessing that they'll create an avi of creation; if so, this is a very pretty checker )

Nocturn (for the pose, the blue colored night sprite and the horns )

Marrow (cause Marrows are the bomb)

Pyrope (hands down they single best red/green christmas pairing. the pastels in both sprites compliment each other and the poses aren't bad at all )

Gaurdian (this one surprised me. i love the blue of the Guardian with the Mistletoe though. )

Red Finn (the teal of the body of the Red Fin goes well with the Mistletoes wings. the Red helps to off set the green. all and all this is the best pairing for complimentary colors imo. )

Lumina (i like the poses together. but its a safe pairing and imo unimaginative. still they go well together )

Royal Blue (is a striking match. i love the stark contrast of the two. the white in the Royal Blues keeps the RB from over powering the Mistletoe and the the poses are very good together. )

Silver Shimmer

Soulpeace (hands down my fav pairing. i love the colors together and the poses)

Sweetling (for the "kissed under the mistletoe" concept)

Silver because what doesn't go well with Silvers

Silver Tinsel

Tangar (took me by surprise. the poses were nice together and the colors were enough of a contrast to make you think, but work very well together imo )

Sunstone (another good Red x Green pairing. i love that they're both bulky sprites, with horns and stuff on their tails )

Undie (these go very nicely together[/url]

Waterhorse (i love how the Mistletoe highlights the green in the Waterhorse)

Yellow Crown (this one took me by surprise as well. i thought the poses and garish yellow woudl be off putting ... btu the blue of the YC's body pulls it together nicely imo )

White (thick bodied sprites and the pure white of the White helps to highlight the belly and socks & gloves of the Mistletoe)

After much deliberation, I have chosen to pair my Mistletoes with Nhiostrife and Waterhorse, but next year I will try to collect 2nd-gens from White and Spotted Greenwings. I think, over the next year, I will periodically breed my Mistletoes with these four types and offer the eggs on EATW in hopes of inspiring checkers.
