[Flashbacks are fun smile.gif

I can almost see Opal and Pooch playing tag a la 'Fox and the Hound' - though that would be a little too cutsie for Rhapsody tongue.gif....]

Opal cocked her head at Amanda, she didn't mind the attention. After all there were worse things than being called cute.

And it looked like Kadaen had found a new friend too. A loose Houndour came up to greet them.

"Hi. I'm Opal." She returned the barked greeting. She looked around the group, finally settling on the now vacant face of Amanda as she hugged Kadaen.

"What's going on?" She asked Pooch, since it seemed that the others were either pre-occupied or not paying attention or just plain weird....

"She'll be fine," Kadaen said to Zee.

Flashback

At Amanda's house, which looked like a tall yellow house with a midnight blue roof, The 10 year old girl opened a present. It was her Birth day. She saw it was a pokeball. Jumping for joy, she picked the friend ball up and threw it, releasing the Eevee inside of it. She had named the Eevee Kadaen. She then picked him up and held him close to her.

After Amanda put Kadaen down, she grabbed her stuff and headed off for her pokemon adventure, til someone kidnapped her while she was sleeping inside a forest.

Back to normal

"Kadaen. How did you? Any idea what happened?" Amanda asked. Rather confused. She asked those questions after she snapped out of it.

"I have no idea," Kadaen said, or try to say. He was still wondering how he met her. He didn't understand why she knew his name. He didn't say his name to anyone but Opal. It took awhile til he started to get a flashback.

flashback for Kadaen

Kadaen was inside the wild til someone with a Jolteon attacked him. He did his best to fight against the Jolteon, which ended him inside a friend ball. Too tired to fight against the power of the friend ball, he stayed in it. Caught. He rested inside the ball. He spent two years inside the friend ball.

Kadaen didn't mind that. He was nice and safe. Once someone opened his pokeball though, he saw Amanda. He didn't do anything, scared out of his mind but he did enjoy the hug. He then left with his new trainer. He had to battle, but she had to get the food all prepared and all. He didn't mind that. He loved the same berries she did so their was no conflict their.

Kadaen was fine and happy while being with Amanda. He didn't evolve because he wanted to be a Jolteon. Which he had hoped that Amanda would have the same idea.

Back to normal

Kadaen hugged Amanda after his flashback.

((Pooch does not care about Rhapsody’s opinion. If she wants to play tag, she’ll play tag and that’s final xd.png

Yay, flashback! Does that mean if Kadaen evolves they can be a Jolteon Double Team 'cause that's awesome))

“I’m Pooch,” she introduced herself to the Vulpix, sniffing her in greeting. “Long story short, this Pokemons are half-human and that human is half-Pokemon,” she explained, pointing with her snout first at Sam and Zee, and then at Amanda. “They’re avoiding some other humans that want to catch them, and since my trainer is with them I’m helping,” she added, wagging her tail a bit.

"Do they know each other?" Pooch asked when Amanda and the Eevee hugged each other, looking alternatively at Sam, Zee and Opal for an answer.

Sid took a sip from his coffee as he waited, computer reading and executing the hundreds of lines of code that had been written. “There,” he thought, pausing the debug tool and going back to the problematic part. Of course it wasn’t reading the input. Some idiot had forgotten to add the command name to the public interface of the dao.iface, how did they expect the computer to know what they wanted like that. With a sigh, he added the line of code and ran the tool again, checking that now the information from the database was easily accessible from the various jsp. Arceus, a novice error like that and they had the nerve to complain when the subjects were glitching. Why wouldn’t they glitch, errors were bad enough when the program was in the digital realm and the worst thing that could happen was the hardware crashing down, but if the hardware was a living something things could get very ugly very fast and the next thing anyone knows the subjects are stuck in the middle of a wall.

He needed more coffee.

The communication device on his left wrist started sounding, and he pressed the button with practiced easy and a “Sidley here” without taking his eyes off the screen.

“Sir! We’ve received a report from Cipher Peon Lesar concerning the escaped subjects. I received orders to inform you that Z023 has been located, but has yet to be captured.”

“Z023?” he repeated, kicking one of the table’s legs to impulse the wheeled office chair to the other side of the small room where his personal laptop was. “Where was it located?” he asked as he accessed the relevant data.

“Sector C-35.”

“Hm, I’ll need to fly there. Get someone to open the hangar in 30 minutes; I’ll go using my Pokemon.”

“Yes sir!”

“If anyone asks why am I going personally, tell them that the subject that they let escape coincidentally was the only one of its kind we managed to make without any fatal errors in the programming, and as such we cannot make further progress unless that one is recovered or someone here codes with enough luck to win two lotteries back to back.”

“Yes sir!”

“And drop the ‘sir’, it makes me feel old.”

“Right away si- er, I mean, um…”

“Forget it. Just go,” he finished, ending the call.

((Sorry for any wrong info, I’m bad with this kind of things and yet I couldn’t resist creating the charrie >_<

Anyway, let me introduce Sidley Dussander, age 32, lead programmer of the Z series and one of the admins. Black eyes, black hair that he keeps in a short ponytail, very pale skin (someone should drag him outside more often), uses glasses when in front of computers even when he doesn’t need them to protect his eyes, left-handed, usually wears the typical white lab coat all scientists are required to wear and black pants, is usually sleep-deprived because he has the tendency to not sleep in days until he passes out somewhere out of sheer exhaustion, is a bit of a perfectionist and doesn’t work well in teams with other programmers because he insists on checking everything everyone does and it takes even more time than if he did it on his own, but that has given him a LOT of practice and he’s incredibly fast when coding so no one complains too much.

Er, hope you guys don’t mind the KnB references on his team))

"Kadaen was/is my first pokemon," Amanda said. She petted Kadaen. "Oh right we need to get over to the town. Pooch you want to lead the way?" She didn't notice that dog boy was already ahead. She started to count how many were their, if Opal and Kadaen are coming with them.

{Omg that would be awesome as heck. I should totally do that!

Opal nodded at Pooch's explanation - that would explain the shifting, even if it was still a very odd occurrence.

She was unable to answer the question about whether Amanda and Kadaen knew each other - though that seemed to be explained reasonably easily by Amanda.

"Guess that answers that one." She looked at Pooch, "Room for one more?" She was curious as to the whole situation and wondered if it was something to do with why she'd been running earlier.

And why Kadaen had run into her, it didn't seem like he'd run away from a bad trainer. Otherwise he wouldn't have seemed so happy to see Amanda.

[Had a thought - do pokeballs actually work on the Hybrids? I doubt they'd work in human form... but in pokemon form they might.... perhaps with an increased failure rate due to certain incompatibilities?]

((Thanks ^^

The Pokeball thing is a very good question O_o Also, if one fails to catch a pokemon, do the balls break like in the games or can they be used again like in the anime?))

"Of course," Pooch said in answer to Amanda's question, standing up. Call it a hound instinct, but she liked leading the way. “It’s not far; we can get there before the sun makes any significant movement.”

"Room for one more?"

"Why not!" She answered with a smile, tail wagging faster; she’d love the company of another Fire-type. “Let’s go then,” she said, trotting in the direction Rhapsody had gone. The town was impossible to miss if one followed the river, so she wasn’t worried about him getting lost.

((EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE YES SID IS SUPER PERFECT!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOREVER

I saw a Pokemon hybrid roleplay once (it was gijinkas/anthropomorphic pokemon but still it could apply?) where hybrids can be sucked into Pokeballs, but they can't be captured since the DNA isn't a complete match or some other technobabble excuse. So they just struggle until the Pokeball breaks. But they also can't breathe or do anything while in there so Ultra Balls often cause asphyxiation or possibly brain damage and you can murder people by chucking Master Balls at them. That might be a bit too dark though. Alex probably knows, whatever the hybrids/Pokeballs relation is. He's done a lot of these experiments. Most of them didn't survive, of course (biology is a COMPLICATED SCIENCE), but they're making progress and he's very excited about it.

Zee can probably get captured though, considering that normal Porygon can and they're literally just programs. They just also happen to have the ability to run a pretty good human simulation.))

"You seem to remember some things," Zee commented, sounding just a little bitter. If it had done anything prior to waking up just outside a concrete laboratory, the logs of those events were now lost forever or somewhere deep inside someone's recycling bin. Brains were... rather less well defined than programs, but sometimes they seemed a hell of a lot more useful.

Jealousy aside, they still had to get out of there. "Do any of those things happen to involve the group that presumably created-" no, "created" was a bad word for human beings, wasn't it They considered themselves the same being even after an absurd amount of changes "-modified us? We're at a disadvantage. Several, in fact, considering we're hard to conceal and know nothing at all about our opponent." Analyzing the situation felt like slipping into an old habit. That was another thing that didn't make sense, but it made it feel safer. In its element. And nothing else was particularly reassuring right now, so it'll take it. "We should discuss as we move, actually. Preserving efficiency is - rather important." It floated after Rhapsody.

It was silent for a few seconds, then a thought occurred to it. It was probably not the best idea to irritate Rhapsody just now, but...

"How did you know your age if you don't remember anything else?"

((Okay so Zee's ability is Analytic. I swear I'm not giving all my Pokemon their hidden abilities on purpose it just happens okay))

--

"Sidley Dussander."

The name was said with rather more distaste than Ferrel was used to, coming from the cheerful scientist. They were at one of Cipher's backup bases now - more an underground bunker than an equipped research facility. She doubted their leaders' wisdom in making so many of these. It wasn't as if any of the major governments were particularly trigger-happy. But there was nothing to be done about that, even with her position as an administrator. But, to digress. "Yes, Dussander. Leader of... one could say our other major hybrid project. Works with programs and virtual Pokemon. Why?"

"Nothing, nothing! I was just curious, is all. Odd name, don't you think?" Alex nudged his glasses (a different pair. Ferrel was fairly sure he owned hundreds, all identical). "Well, I suppose I'm not qualified to comment on odd names, but really."

Ferrel shrugged. "He's been alerted of the situation, I made sure of it myself. In fact," she glanced down at her communicator, "he is flying over here to get a closer look at the situation himself. And had some rather rude words with our messenger."

"Unprofessional," Alex replied, soberly. It was his opinion that too many specialist groups were unacceptably unprofessional nowadays. He'd even heard stories of messengers in...what was that Team's name? Messengers in Team Rocket getting murdered just for delivering bad news. Now where was the point in that? Just a waste of funds that could have been used for research. Ferrel explained that it was a matter of image, but he never saw the use in proper image if all it did was discourage potential employment. "I suppose we should go meet him, all the same."

"When he arrives," Ferrel agreed.

I agree with Takhesis that, if we're going with it, it shouldn't work in human form. Even with the pokemon DNA and the ability to use attacks their bodies are more human than pokemon then, and balls don't work on humans. Well, except Zee if Pi wants, but they're a special case since the Porygon line in general is rather unique

Eh you can post as sid now, so that way it keeps the evil guys in a semi threatening pose to the werepokes.}

"I wonder one night me and Kadaen went to bed, the next day I remember trying to get away from something. Are they connected in some shape?" Amanda said as she followed Pooch. She didn't put Kadaen down, as if she was scared to let him go. "Yeah that will be cool if you joined up with us cutie."

((Well the theory is that once they're captured they're...I dunno, converted to energy and stored indefinitely. Sounds like this

In all seriousness, I guess it's some sort of half-stasis where they don't need anything but can choose to be aware of what's going on outside? The Carnivire thing makes me think they don't age either, though O_o

So... can they be captured? Polos, what's the final word?

And can pokeballs be used again if they fail to catch something?))

“The hell you’re talking about,” Rhapsody snapped at the kid, growling and showing the fangs of his three heads. He had mainly ignored whatever the group had been discussing about, and was still rather annoyed when they caught up to him and Pooch ran up to the front. Definitely not in the mood to remember unimportant stuff.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“That should be the place, Aomine!” Sid half-yelled over the sound of the rushing wind, holding tighter to his Garchomp’s dorsal fin in preparation for the landing. The Dragon-type made a growling sound in acknowledgement and lowered the height of his flight, skillfully landing on the space reserved for aerial transportation and bending down so his trainer could get off his back. He could have used another, quicker method of transportation, but there was something about the wind threatening to blow him off the Garchomp’s back that had the effect to completely wake him up for the rest of the hour and he wasn’t going to let that chance pass up.

He jumped off in the same manner one would use to get down from a horse, passing a leg over to the other side and laying down before letting himself fall to the ground, and lowered the goggles he always wore when flying so they hung around his neck. “Good work,” he said, returning the Pokemon to its ball in a flash of red light. He then pressed the button to reduce the item’s size, clipping it on his belt with the other ones as he entered the tunnel that led underground.

There was a Peon waiting for him there, to guide him around if he had to guess. “Doctor Ferrel is waiting. I was instructed to take you to her,” the girl informed with a salute.

“Sure,” he shrugged, following the Peon while fixing his hair. Usually he’d prioritize locating the nearest coffee dispenser before even attempting any kind of human interaction, but the flight should keep him going for a while. Besides, he’d slept two days ago; it wasn’t that dire of a problem yet.

[i'd agree to no death from the balls - if they work - mainly as Trainers are meant to care about the wellbeing of their partners. Granted it doesn't always go that way.

I hadn't really thought about balls at the start of things... ooopsie oversight.

And I think someone's got a crush....]

Opal followed behind Pooch, glad that both the Fire-hound and Amanda didn't seem to mind the extra addition.

She'd got somewhat attached to Kadaen, even though they'd only just met, and wouldn't have felt right just leaving him - them - after being nosy about the situation.

Then again, she'd always liked friendly company. And most of the group seemed that way.

Samantha floated behind her 'trainer' Amanda as they made their way along the river towards the town. Her small wings keeping her airborne with little effort.

Hopefully they wouldn't run into any trouble before they got their stories straight. Or at least patched up. Hopefully she'd remember to follow Amanda's orders when it came to it.

Then again - wasn't there something about pokemon not always behaving? Something to do with League Badges?

She couldn't remember. Oh well, the town should provide some answers.

{Well we didn't think of the balls at all. I say they work, but no death. Also with pokemon not listening to the trainer, that is all about trust. I bet Dog boy would never listen to Amanda inside a battle anyway.

Also are we doing natures for out were-humans? If we are Amanda is well bold natured. + df - speed.}

Kadaen yawned and fell asleep in Amanda's arms. He was happy right their.

"So anyone want to talk as we get over to the town?" Amanda asked.

((Zee's probably serious. I dunno, we can decide natures or not, it doesn't really matter. I feel like that would be one of those things super hardcore battlers obsess about even in-universe.

Well in the games, the theory was that if a trainer had a lot of badges, then Pokemon would respect them as a competent tactician and trust that they know what they're doing. It varies in other media since Pokemon have their own personalities n stuff. In the case of the hybrids though, what if they were captured and then shifted when they were outside the Pokeball? Because if they're capturable in only one form, I feel like that'd be awkward, since most theories state that Pokeballs are linked to a single Pokemon's genetic/individual signature and that would change during a transformation. Maybe we'll just settle for not capturable at all.

Also omg Sid has a gen 4 dragon, Ferrel has a gen 5 dragon, and Alex has a gen 6 dragon. Mad coincidence skills man

Gonna wait to post as Z since they don't really want to talk at the moment.))

The heavy steel door slid open with a "fssht" sound, revealing a Cipher Peon and a rather pale man. "Doctor Dussander has arrived," the Peon announced, then stepped away, going back to guarding her door.

"Ah, Dussander." Ferrel stepped forward, all smiles and pleasantries. Alex sighed. No one really believed her pleasant persona - although he supposed it could be quite intimidating at times. To some people. "It's been... I don't remember when I last saw you. That latest incident was unfortunate, hmm?" She grinned a little too widely, her eyes daring the man to just try saying it had been her fault to her face. A tense two seconds passed before Alex decided that he should probably step in.

He stood up and nudged Ferrel to the side, not even trying to be subtle. "Hello! I'm Alexander Feldspath, joined Cipher's science team three years ago. I've heard of your work. Seen it in action, actually. Really, quite impressive." He extended a hand, grinning. "I'd love to discuss our experiments sometime. They're of a similar nature, you know? And I'm very curious about how you managed to translate biological processes into code." Ferrel glared at him, but shifted herself into a more relaxed posture all the same. He ignored her and kept grinning.

((Takhesis, let's dub that pair woodlandcrittersshipping. Let the fan art rain down

We're all going with 31 IVs and 0 EVs on everything, so natures could be a good way to distinguish pokemonA from same-species pokemonB; we don't all have to choose the best one anyway, just the one we feel suits them and then just roll with the advantages and disadvantages. But then polos may have to modify the first post to include a list of the charries and natures so we don't go making errors on the damage calculator. I don't mind either way, so you guys tell me if we're gonna go with it (if we are, I call Hasty for Rhapsody and Calm for Pooch)

If they're catchable in their hybrid forms and then go human, maybe they're forced to switch back to pokemon when being returned? Or maybe they aren't catchable by normal means, even with a Master ball, but Cipher has developed some sort of special pokeball that does work on them and their escape involved their balls getting broken beyond repair

...I swear the coincidence is just a coincidence, I just used my Y-team to not think too much about it O_o They can be dragon-buddies! (And Zee should remind Rhapsody of what exactly he said if they want an answer)

long OCC is long >_<))

It didn't take long to arrive at the room Ferrel was waiting at. The Peon formally introduced Sidley (why was he being referred to as 'doctor' was beyond him) before stepping out again and closing the door to offer them some degree of privacy.

"Good morning, Ferrel," he greeted, offering a nod of acknowledgement at his fellow admin. He was about to add something else, but there was something slightly off with Ferrel's mannerisms that spoke of some kind of social cue he was missing, delaying his answer just long enough for the other man in the room to bluntly interject himself in the conversation.

"...Sidley Dussander," he mechanically answered, a bit taken aback by the sudden approach but still managing to correctly accept the handshake. "What I'm curious about is how it took us five tries to finally produce a suitable modification of the OSI model without everything malfunctioning on the first minute and ruining everyone's appetites for the rest of the day. Which should be the opposite definition of 'impressive'."

He put his hands back in his pockets, not returning the grin. Programming in his opinion was a black-or-white science; you either got it perfect or it was a failure, with no room for degrees of good and bad, and those first steps that would result in the Z series were definitely a failure after another. "But I'm sure there'll be time for the discussion you want when the subjects return to being more supervised than the average kindergarten. Doctor Ferrel, I was told a recovery attempt had been made?" he inquired, cutting straight to the subject of his interest.

"Oh, don't!" Alex waved the comment off. "I'm sure your work is fantastic all the same. Do you know how many tries we took to get ours right? Thirty subjects spread across six batches. And the first few were catastrophically horrific, if very interesting." Alex sighed, remembering that first Ditto they'd tried the test on. It did take them a week to scrub the whole mess out of the floors, but the scientific implications! "At least you can reuse code if something doesn't work out. I'm jealous, really."

Ferrel cleared her throat. Alex had opened his mouth to add something more, but decided that now would probably be a good time to shut up. "Yes," Ferrel said, businesslike but visibly pleased. They could work things out, as long as Dussander didn't start another one of his tirades. "There was. It failed. I suppose it's in part my fault, since we engaged aggressively." Her eyes shifted to the side. Alex chuckled. Lesar was going to be fired in a matter of hours. "They should still be relatively close to the site of the incident. The Hydreigon was heavily injured in the fight, and none of the others can travel particularly fast or teleport. We've got people stationed throughout the forest area and a few of the surrounding towns. Although if we don't manage to catch them in time, that could be a problem."

"I'm working on a tracker," Alex piped up. "It might be possible to detect their DNA signatures. It's going to take at least a few weeks, though. Especially considering the appalling lack of equipment here."

Ferrel nodded. "That's the situation. Anything you'd like to add?"

Samantha drifted closer to Amanda at her question of talking on way.

"We probably should have some idea of how long each of us has been with you. If only as a cover story to deflect why we're not in any sort of ball...."

She considered for a bit, before adding,

"Perhaps Rhapsody is the newest addition - that should explain his attitude somewhat. Even if it doesn't excuse it."

Opal kept pace with Amanda, seeing that Kadaen had fallen asleep again she half smiled. He really was tired when he found her - shame that the battle interrupted the earlier nap.

Hopefully she'd make some friends quickly among the group.

((Well, to simplify, how about everyone has 31 IVs and NPCs have 0 because main characters need to be special and we keep ignoring EVs?))

Sid agreed that the conversation about the other batches of hybrids, while interesting, was best not maintained right now. But if they had been forced to fight…

He crossed his arms and addressed Ferrel. “You said you took part in the battle. Did Z023 participate? I would appreciate it if you could tell me everything you recall about its behavior, in particular its reaction to the other subjects and the attacking party.” If he wasn’t mistaken, Z023’s main memories should have been classified as non-accessible when it was put in the containment unit. As such, it should have been in a state very similar to an amnesiac person. Why did it decide to walk away on its own, even if it was after being released, was of particular importance; he should start seeing this as less of a hassle and more of a unique kind of software testing to offer insight on the behavior of the subject outside of a controlled environment.

And thinking about that... His mind raced to analyze the situation, left index slightly touching his lower lip as he thought. “I would also like to join the search, if it’s alright.” “There’s something I want to try if I encounter them on my own,” he added in his mind, aware of the weight of the occupied Ultra ball on his belt. “And if it’s possible to show me where the battle took place, maybe Mr. Feldspath can fill me in with the info on his batches and the tracker on the way there,” he offered.

Link to post

"Yes, of course!" It was Alex who spoke. Ferrel frowned again - Feldspath was pushing it, but he did tend to be more observant of behavioural patterns. It was his job, after all. "Z023 did indeed attack us actively, although unfortunately most of it was before we arrived on scene. Lesar reported that he'd knocked it to the ground with Rollout, but it retaliated by knocking his Donphan over with a gesture - most likely Psychic. I don't suppose you have information on its moveset, do you? Anyway, it began to glitch violently after that, discharging electricity and... Hmm. There was a very interesting pixel effect going on, although I'm sure you have a better term to describe it with. So there wasn't a lot of behaviour to observe. But," he added that last word very loudly before Ferrel could interject (she sent a smouldering glare at him but stayed silent), "there is plenty we can conclude from the situation. Z023 likely sought out the group of other experiments. Humans are pack animals by nature, so when confused, they search for each other. Your unit seems to have inherited that. As such, unless an active attempt is made to harm it, it will stay with the group at least until it is less disoriented. Which does make our job quite a bit easier."

"Except that as a group, the experiments are fully capable of defeating three well-equipped humans with multiple Pokemon," Ferrel said, her voice just short of a growl. It was not a good time to lose control, she reminded herself. "You're welcome to join us. We could use your insight in the matter, and one more hand in case of another fight. I'll send you our available information. Will you be travelling with us?"

Alex's eyes lit up. "You should! It'll be great to have someone else to talk to. Ferrel doesn't appreciate my insights at all. Just a minute - our resident administrator has advised me to bring my other Pokemon." He broke into a light run, heading toward his temporary quarters.

Ferrel wondered why she took this job.

-----

"There are minimal traces of human activity here, so I'd assume this forest is not part of a route. With some luck, we can avoid any encounters at all." Z floated ahead. It felt like it should be doing something, but the conversation was awkward and it had run out of insights. The first opportunity it could get, it was going to get internet somehow so it could read things during awkward silences. Probably nonfiction articles, maybe about gender. It was still kind of confused about that.

Its sensors picked up a faint sound up ahead - not the river, something less fluid, more periodical. Footsteps, maybe? "I believe we're close," it said, raising its voice a bit to make sure it weas heard.

Pooch ignored his antics and nodded at Zee's observation, fastening her light trot to a run. "There's a bridge up ahead. We go right, and it's only a couple of trees until the town. There's a big building with a lot of food and Pokemons right in the middle, it's nearly impossible to get lost," she commented, snout held high to smell all the scents the wind was carrying. As she said, up ahead was a simple stone bridge, a bulletin board erected on the right side with many kinds of notices pinned under the bold letters that indicated the name of the human settlement.

Sid listened intently to Feldspath's recounting of the events. A Psychic-type move and an Electric-type one, and the pixelation indicated low levels of health - spontaneous glitching was normal even at full HP, but oddities lasting more than a second only happened when something was less than ideal. All the try-catch statements should keep preventing any permanent damage from happening even if the subject fainted, though the human behavior could be a problem if left unchecked for too long.

He watched mildly amused as Feldspath left the room in a hurry. "Has he been working long with you? I'm surprised he's retained the use of all his fingers," he commented as if Ferrel breaking limbs was a daily occurrence, pulling out one of the chairs near the steel table to sit down. "That aside, I would prefer to act alone, but that's more of a personal choice than a strategic decision. If I'm required to be in a group, I won't raise any objections," he informed, running a hand through his hair and crossing his legs as he leaned back. "I brought my whole team with me, so security isn't an issue." The different capsules on his belt were visible from the coat falling open due to his position, light reflecting slightly off the six smooth surfaces.

"Which begs the question." He let his hand fall a few centimeters to rub his eyes, the other one back in his pocket. "I'm having a tough time believing a group of experiments defeated you of all people, if the results of our last practice match are still accurate data." Sid saw no shame in admitting to himself he had lost that one by a long shot. "Did something happen?" he asked, one eye half-opening to look at his fellow admin.

Ferrel sighed. "I'm not allowed to break his fingers, Sid. He's an important part of the research team. Express orders from up above, in fact. And occasionally he says something useful." She sat back down, leaning her head against her hand. Okay, so maybe she was moping a little. She had the right to after a week of dealing with that guy. "As for the battle, we did do quite a bit of damage. Most of them would have been at half health or below when we retreated, and I personally knocked out the Hydreigon. I suppose I may have underestimated them, too. We only had four Pokemon on the field, including Lesar's; they had the advantage. Once we find them again, I'm going to coordinate in advance and throw out all my Pokemon against them at once. See how they like that." She smiled, a little tiredly. "And don't flatter yourself. I can still beat you into the ground any day." She stood again, expression switching back to businesslike in a flash. "Alright, sending you the research data now." She opened her communicator and tapped a few buttons. "I'm afraid you'll have to go to Feldspath for clarification on most of this. Biology is not my specialty. You won't be required to travel in a group, but someone to, ah, direct our biologist's fire away from me would be greatly appreciated."

Alex chose that exact moment to come back into the room. "Ferrel! Alright, fair enough. Trust me, though, you'll find I'm very charming. I got Dragalge," he held up a Pokeball before shoving it into his lab coat pocket, "so we can get going whenever you two are ready. We are going together, aren't we?" He looked at both admins expectantly.

((Alex is asexual. When he's not preoccupied with science he also flirts with people. Kind of a lot. Ferrel has trouble ignoring it.

Also oh god I'm probably going to end up shipping some combination of the scientists. I don't even ship things normally but just. Scientist datemates are so great))
