Kanya started to slow down noticing that the attacks had stopped. Coming to a stop near the icy spike arches Kanya started to look around to see if she could spot something.

Sammanus smiled as Kanya stopped under the arch. He thought of her as a stupid little girl for walking into such a trap. It took him a while to gather enough electrical force capable enough to break the arches. Stretched out both his arms, busts of lightning blitzed through the air, hitting each fo the arches in the middle.

“Try surviving that?” Sammanus spoke as he continued to release the electrical attack.

Kanya stumbled backwards falling on the soft snow after she heard the attack. Looking at her barrier she noticed that the lightning did not hit her but the spikes above her. Silence surrounded the area causing Kanya to hold her breath thinking it would stop them from breaking any further.

“Gah you got to be kidding me. How lucky can this girl be?” Sammanus growled as he saw nothing happened. He moved from his hiding spot only to move a bit closer. The distance might have been to far causing the lightning to be weaker. It would mean for him to be in clear view of the girl but from what he could tell so far is that her barrier prevented her from attacking herself. This was a bonus for him in away.

“Right here we go.” He spoke stretching out his arms once again in plain sight before Kanya and releasing an attack on the arches again.

Surprised by the second attack Kanya could clearly hear the ice starting to crack. She had to move. Her barrier would be able to hold it but she would be buried under the ice and won’t be able to move. Looking at Sammanus she saw him grinning causing him to look evil.

“I won’t die here.” she shouted at him standing up dismissing her barrier.

“Haha... Oh I have to disagree.” Sammanus shouted back at her still laughing. Sammanus was surprised at out the girl to say something like that until noticed he was getting warmer. He quickly looked at Kanya and noticed her barrier was gone. He looked at himself trying to see if he was on fire but he wasn’t. Why was he still alive? He knew she could make fire just by looking at it but there was nothing. Larger and larger ice were starting to break off, yet the girl haven’t moved. What is she getting at? he thought stepping back slightly feeling a bit intimidated by her glare.

A low growl came from behind Sammanus causing him to freeze in fear. What in the hell was that? he thought. Slowly he turned his head to see what it was only to meet a very large black figure behind him with big yellow fangs. He quickly looked at Kanya noticing another one, only white standing behind her, growling as both of them looked at him. Sammanus trembled slightly but he wont give in, the mut can’t bite him unless it wants to be electrified.

“Is that all you got? A couple of muts?” he spoke trying to give a little smile not wanting to show fear.

Kanya just glared at him while her hounds where growling even louder. The structure of the arch was getting weaker and weaker and soon the whole thing would come down.

“Goodbye Sammanus.” she finally spoke. The large white hound lay down allowing her to climb on and started to walk away.

Angered by the ways she treated him Sammanus lifted his hand ready to send out an electrical whip when he heard someone scream. It took him a few seconds to notice it was he who was screaming. His body was burning and the pain was so much that all he could do was give in. The black hound looked at the man watching the life escaping his eyes before walking away join his master and brother.

Kanya didn’t look around to see what happened but shed a little tear. She didn’t want to do it but he wanted to kill her. Soon after setting a good distance between the now dead Sammanus she could hear the arch falling into pieces, causing the ground to shake.

Lance followed Holly deeper into a thick maze of icy walls. He could hear her feet crunch on the snow and slap against the ice, so he knew she wasn't too far ahead of him, but after he rounded a corner he suddenly came to a dead end. Where had she gone?

Knowing something was amiss Lance opened his right hand just enough to allow a sword to materalize into his grasp. Gripping the hilt he turned and looked back round the corner. Nothing. He couldn't even hear her any more.

He tried to think back to the fight against the Grabboids the day before. What powers had Holly shown? Flight. She could fly.

Lance spun back around and looked at the wall of ice that had blocked his path. While it was much taller than he was, it would have been simple enough for someone to fly over. He had been using the sounds she had made while running to trace her, but now she could be anywhere.

Holly watched Lance's silhouette through the wall of ice. She could only see him because he stood so close to it. If he took a few steps away she'd lose him. She had purposely lead him as far away from the others as possible. If she had to kill to survive, she'd rather hurt as few people as possible.

Lance turned as if to go back and try and find another route, so before he could walk too far away Holly gently floated back towards the wall of ice that seperated them and closed her eyes. She hoped this would be over soon.

The explosion knocked Lance off his feet and showered him with huge chunks of ice. He slammed hard into the ground and tasted blood in his mouth. Before he could get to grips with what was happening he was forced to roll to the side to avoid a large sheath of ice collasping on top of him. He had to continue rolling as it slid after him, threatening to bury him under several feet of ice and snow.

When the avalanche finally came to and end Lance got to his feet just in time to see a nauseous looking Holly quickly dart behind some cover. This wasn't going to be as easy as he had thought.

It had been a good 5 minutes since Luc had pulled out the shard of ice from his arm, and since then there had been no sign of Jack and his assault. Luc was stumbling across the arena, using the various ice pillars as cover to hide himself from view of the others. He had managed to bandage his would temporarily, however that didn't stop the blood from soaking the cloth in red.

Jack meanwhile was levitating in the sky, his two feet perched upon the non bladed part of a large scythe, in a fashion similar to that of a skateboarded riding a skateboard. He had reduced gravity's pull around himself and the scythe, allowing them to float freely as if they were in space, movement was just a simple task of manipulating the gravity field around other objects so as to attract the scythe towards that direction. With a birds eye view, he had witnessed the ending moments of Kanya's duel with the lighting user, the end result only managing to strengthen Jack's resolve not to get on her bad side in case she decided to use fire; his weakness, against him.

A movement in the ice caught his attention, it was Luc's reflection. With his prey insight, Jack maneuvered the floating scythe downwards until he was just above the unsuspecting boy. Low enough, and without any weight, he landed behind Luc without making a sound.

"Found you.." he snickered. Luc quickly turned around, to try and retaliate however he was stopped mid turn, his feet no longer touching the ground. Jack had swung his scythe around, impaling Luc right in the abdomen whilst he was in mid turn, the force of the swing causing the tip of the blade to exit his back and impale itself against the icy pillar.

Luc hung there, his body nailed against the pillar via the scythe's blade. It was only a few seconds before his body became limp and the light escaped from his eyes.

With the task done, Jack pulled the scythe out, causing Luc to fall to the floor. Whilst he enjoyed such contests, he was not without morals. Kneeling in front of the dead boy, Jack placed a hand over his eyes, closing them. With that done, he walked off in search of another contestant, leavings Luc's body at the base of a pillar.

Lance raced through the endless walls of ice, his temper rising with every dead end. It had been foolish of him to follow Holly in here as she could simply fly over any obstacle with ease. Eventually his temper got the better of him and Lance lashed out at the next wall that blocked his path, causing long cracks appear in the ice. A blow from his sword caused it to crumble away and allow him to move on.

Holly was desperately trying to stay out of Lance's line of sight. She wasn't sure what powers he had and she sure didn't want to find out the hard way. She had seen Jack float across the sky and wondered how his fight with Luc was going. She didn't have much time to worry about that though. Lance was on her tail.

Lance had taken to smashing down the walls of the maze. This drew badly on his strength reserves, but it cut down on the number of places where Holly could hide. One wall fell into another and began to push it over onto Holly. She cried out in shock but managed to pull herself together in time to phase through the falling ice. When the ice and snow had settled the two of them were left staring at each other.

"Found you" sneered Lance, still spitting out blood.

He darted forward at Holly with such speed that she had no time to block or dodge the swing of his sword. Instead she reacted out of instinct and exploded.

Lance was thrown backwards, bloody and broken. He stared down at his blasted body in horror, seeing parts of himself that he should not be able to. Holly gave her own gasp of horror and raced over to him when she reformed.

"I'm sorry" she wept. "I didn't want to do this."

She knelt down as if to comfort him, but Lance wasn't done yet. He was still alive. He still had a chance. He still had the sword, now fused to the molten flesh of his hand. Holly was too preoccupied to notice his arm move until it was too late. She stared down at Lance in shock and then down at the blade that pierced her abdomen. Her eyes met back with his for one shaking moment and then she collasped on top of him.

Lance used the last of his strength to push her off. He had made his kill. Now he just had to get back to his cell and the healing crystals they contained before it was too late. Judging by the way the walls of ice had started to crumble and fade around him he had just made the third required kill. He could see Kanya and Jack as the ice vanished and tried to call out to them, but his voice failed him. He didn't have much time left. Would they see him?

He couldn't pull his hand free of the sword he had summoned, nor could he pull it back out of Holly. Instead he tried to flip onto his stomach and crawl awkwardly towards the opening arena doors, dragging her with him. He only managed to make it a few feet before the darkness claimed him.

(( NOOOOO LUC DIED! SRSLY WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE DIED! sad.gif BTW Fortune, we got an OOC for ideas and stuff? And isn't the fight done already? 2/3'rds are dead! Oh... and Isamu? ))

After hearing what most of the people had to say, Vex chose to remain perfectly silent and finish his meal. He sighed slightly after he was done, then rose from his seat and returned the bowl. Now finished, Vex walked into the bathroom. He turned on the sink, then splashed some water on his face and rose his gaze to the mirror. He wasn't tired from last night or wounded, yet he felt fatigue, as if he hadn't slept for a long amount of time. Finished, Vex took a towel and wiped his face from the cold water, then walked outside and back into the main room. He felt strange, knowing that merely meters away people died... who would come out alive?

((Ask Drow. He wanted it.

I've found that OOCs don't always work all that well lol. And yes, the fight is done. That's why the ice faded and the arena doors are opening.

Isamu must still be in bed lol.))

Eli shot up sitting upright when he heard the now familar sound of the arena doors slowly grinding open. Was the fight over already? It can't have been more than half an hour or so.

Putting the paper eagle down on his bed he walked to his cell door and looked out into the corridor. Sure enough the double doors were already half open. But who would be walking through them?

((Don't look at me... Kasper forced me to... X.x))

Jack stopped as he noticed the icy pillars begin to disappear, which could only mean that the death match had ended. Before everything had completely vanished, he desummoned his bloodied scythe, there was no need for it now.

With nothing obstructing his view, he scanned around, only noticing one other figure up on their feet; Kanya. "She is tougher then I expected..." he smirked, before looking around once again. Two bodies entangled with one another were laying on the ground several yards away from him and on closer inspection Jack could make out movements; one of them was alive.

In most cases, a bystander would likely run towards the injured party to help them.. however Jack did not. He watched the futile struggles of the survivor until the very end. 6 had entered... only two had survived. He turned towards the arena doors as they began to open.

Kanya and her hounds had made it slowly towards the direction of the doors. She was silent the whole way only watching as the others fought only closing her eyes as the two separate groups made their death blows. When they finished the ice disappeared revealing an rockish arena once again. Kanya look over to Jack but stayed her distance. She was now more scared of him than before aftet she saw how he dealt with Luc.

"I have to go." Kanya spoke in a soft voice to her hounds as she saw the doors open. Both started to howl in a low voice upset by this but they knew she had no choice. Slowly they made their way to the door but Kanya looked over her shoulder towards the view box, wondering why such people would want to see people kill each other.

Andromeda sighs, looking down at the young girl next to her. She had no idea that there was a death match going on, but she was sure to find out soon. The match had gone on longer than she expected. I suppose it takes quite some time to kill people. They could also be having a difficult time doing it.

She jumped when the arena doors opened, leaping to her feet. She had to remind herself that poor Cassandra had no clue about the arena, and she was looking very frightened at her sudden movement. She moved back over to her and knelt down to her level.

"There is a large battleground just beyond those doors." she explained. "Six people left just before you arrived to go into the first...death match." She hesitated slightly before saying those words. "Only three are coming back."

Cassandra felt her heart sink and the colour drain from her face. They ARE going to make us kill each other. Why didn't I run when I could? Sure, she had powers, but she was younger than the rest of them, and smaller as well with perhaps the exception of Eli. What could she do, she didn't even know these people!

Andromeda saw the change in the girl and shook her head. "Not to worry. You won't be put into a death match your first time in the arena. They need to ensure you are able to defend yourself first." She took Cassandra's hand and gave it a gentle squeeze, it seemed to help. She turned her attention back to the door.

She was surprised and elated when she saw Kanya walk through the door, a smile spread across her face. It disappeared when Jack walked in behind her. I should've expected that. He seemed to hide everything. It frightened her that she still didn't know what his powers were.

Upon the arrival of Jack, she expected to see Luc close behind. As cellmates they'd likely try to survive together. But nobody else arrived. Her face drained to match Cassandra's in lack of colour as she came to the realization. They're all dead. Four, not three. Lance, Summanus and even Luc were dead. And Holly, who she believed had one of the greatest chances of survival, was dead. She held her stomach as though she were about to be sick.

Cassandra slowly stood up and held Andromeda's hand again. She grew to understand that Andromeda had started to get to know these other people, perhaps for a long time, she didn't know how long it was. But the profound effect on her was unmistakable. Andromeda barely registered her hand as she squeezed back slightly, staring straight ahead at the open door. She hoped she would be alright.

She looked around to watch the others with the same wide and curious eyes. Were the others having the same reactions?

Lydia heard the grating of the door and turned her head listening to the sound of footsteps. Only two sets this isn't good there was suppost to be three not two. Oh god, Holly and Jack were in there are they ok and the young girl one of them died. "Who lived?" She asked Andromeda fearful that Holly or Jack died they were the most friendly to her especially Holly.

-------

Samael looked at the door seeing two figures walk in. One being the scarecrow and the other being the younger girl."So the strong return to resume the game of life and death." He says silently narrowing his eyes at the two. Hmmm I better keep an eye on those two. They may prove to be the challenge I've been looking for. He thinks smirking still tracing his brands.

Andromeda let out a shuddering breath as she whispered back to Lydia. "It's Jack and Kanya...there...isn't a third." She suddenly became angry and let go of Cassandra's hand to clench her fists. "This isn't right. Zygard got greedy, there should be three! Not two!" Andromeda suddenly felt her head begin to spin, and she shook all over, having to sit back down in her chair.

It's not the rules that he himself made! It should be three. What if he decides next time to only let one out? Send in the entire group! She suddenly looked fearfully over to Cassandra. How could she survive? Or worse yet, what if she was more than able and turned on her? The unknown was the scariest thing, anything could happen...

Eli smiled when he saw Kanya walk through the arena doors, but it quickly faded when he saw that only she and Jack had returned. That wasn't right. Where was the third person?

He looked back down the corridor to the others watching from the common room and saw looks of confusion that mirrored his own. Turning back he strode down the corridor towards the arena doors and looked through them to the arena beyond. There were four bodies lying on the ground, two close together, not far from the doors.

It took a moment for Eli to recognise the half burnt form of Lance. Judging by the position he was in he had been trying to crawl towards the doors. He must have died from his injuries.

"And what does red ink mean?" asked Siren, eyeing the list carefully.

"Almost the same as the black" said August. "The one difference being that only half of those who enter may leave the arena. The others must be killed."

Of course. August had not said that half of the entrants would leave. Only that they could do. If more people than necessary died, then so be it. It probably didn't matter if everyone got killed.

The doors started to swing shut so Eli turned back to look at Kanya.

"Are you okay?" he asked, knowing it was a stupid question.

Kanya stepped out of the arena looking back one last time before her hounds had disappeared. It will be quite some time before she can summon them again. Hopefully she wouldn’t need to do something like that soon again. Walking down the corridor she stopped before Eli. She didn’t look at him, she kept looking down towards the ground. A few drops fell on the ground as she tried to hold her tears back. She can still hear Sammanus screams in her mind and the images on how the others had died.

“I’m...” she tried to speak but could get anything out. What could she say after all, now knowing she had killed twice. Leaning a bit closer to Eli she whispered into his ear. “Be careful of him.”

With that Kanya slowly made her way to her cell.

Kanya looked so distressed and desolate that when she leaned closer to Eli, thus getting a lot nearer than he would normally be comfortable with, he didn't flinch away as he normally would have done. She then whispered in his ear so softly he wondered for a moment if he had actually heard anything.

When she pulled away he stared after her in confusion before glancing at Jack. Be careful of him? What had he done out there? Eli looked back at Kanya and watched her keep walking. He didn't think he should go after her. He wouldn't know what to say or do to comfort her.

Jack stepped back into the hallway a few seconds after Kanya had entered. With his back facing the arena, he raised both arms above his head and stretched his back and grunted, before resuming his normal posture and looking down the hallway at the others.

Apart from Samael, there was another new face in the crowd; a girl. Sighing, he reached into his right shirt sleeve with his left hand and pulled out one of his handkerchiefs. Bringing it up to his face, he began to wipe the blood splatter off his face.. not like it did much... since most of the blood had pretty much dried up by now.

((Now there's a thought. Since Jack has a cloth face, can it get stained like regular material? Does it have to be washed out with detergent?))

Eli walked back down to the common room and looked around. Apart from Samael, no one looked particulary happy.

"So including Hector, we're five down already" said Siren. "These last two days sucked."

Eli adverted his gaze and went to sit in a lone chair in the corner. Now that he knew the results of the fight he didn't feel quite so tense. He sat down and pulled his knees up to his chest where he held them in place with his arms.

Siren looked around at the others. She wasn't happy either, but there was something else that was bothering her.

"Look. We're pretty much trapped here until we die. Why aren't we looking for a way to escape?"

"There is no way to escape" said Eli softly.

"Says you" snapped Siren without looking at him.

The door swung open allowing Kanya to enter her cell. She felt slightly ill. The smell of burning flesh, the sight of blood dripping it all made her feel uneasy. Falling onto her bed she remembered that she haven’t even had something to eat yet. Good thing thou otherwise it might have ended up in the arena. Hugging her pillow she wished her hounds could be there, being able to lay on their soft fur. She had always felt safer and braver with them around.

Hearing voices coming from the common room Kanya stayed in the same position, curled up in a ball on her bed, trying to forget what she had done and seen.

Alia had sort of zoned out. When the others came back, she sat up, eyes wide. There were only... Only two back. Oh, God. Bringing her feet up onto the couch, she held her head in her hands. They really were intent on making these experiments violent. At the mention of possible escape, she looked up. Siren maybe had something. "Do you have any ideas?" she directed to the woman.

"At the moment, no" admitted Siren. "But that doesn't mean we should all just sit around and wait to club one another to death. We need to start figuring out some kind of plan."

She looked around the room.

"Does anyone know anything about Zygard? Or those that work for him? I mean something solid, not just rumours."

Cassandra, who had been fairly quiet until then, piped up. "What's this arena made of? No chance of punching a hole?" She secretly thought about her powers, but supposed that'd have to wait.

Andromeda shook her head. "Too thick. The only weak spot is..." She stopped for a moment as she came to realize, quite possibly the only way out. "...Zygard's viewing box."

"Which is behind that magical barrier thing" pointed out Siren. "Who was that in the box with him though? I'm sure I saw that August guy in there, but there was a woman too. She looked older."

"The Sorceress" said Eli staring down at his feet between his knees. "She's worked for them for years."

Siren spun round in her seat to stare at him.

"How'd you know that?"

Eli didn't meet her eyes.

"My father told me. He knows a lot about them. That's how I know we're not getting out of here."

Lydia put a hand to her mouth trying to supress a sob. No Holly. She can't be dead, she can't be. The thoughts kept echoing in her head as she falls to her knees crying. "H-holly can't be gone she was strong, how can she be dead.? Lydia asks herself letting her tears fall.

-----------

Samael watched Lydia reaction but directed his attension to the others speaking about Zygard. Hmmm I wonder. He thinks looking at Eli. "Has anyone tried to go through or break the barrier yet?" The demon asks tilting his head. "Or even better yet has someone tried to use a power that can appear on the other side of the barrier?" Samael smirks knowing that if one of those works then he could probably escape no problem, that was if he wanted to escape.

"That wouldn't be a good idea" said Eli to his feet. "The Sorceress is very thorough. All of our powers would have been studied in depth before we were placed in here. All methods of escape will have been cut off."

"Well you're a real beacon of hope aren't you?" snapped Siren. "We can't just sit around and do nothing."

Eli stood up but did not look at anyone.

"If anyone tries to escape they will be killed, or worse. The only way to survive is to do what they want and fight. The sooner we accept that the better."

He walked out of the common room and started towards his cell. As he approached his door to enter he stopped and turned to look at Kanya's cell opposite. Was she okay by herself?

He hesitated and then moved closer to the other door.

"Kanya?" he called softly.
