"Oh enough of this already" snapped Siren. "We don't have time for your posturing."

She strode over towards Luc and shoved him hard in the chest, pushing him off the edge of the ice pillar. It was a fair drop to the now settling ground. If Andromeda moved quickly she could catch him before Luc hit it.

Luc was now rushing towards the ground, his passive ability had begun to take effect, his body sending out periodic barriers of sound from his body, acting as a beacon to the graboids.

Using his hands, he emitted tiny burst's of sound energy to readjust himself in midflight. With his head now facing the ground, he inhaled deeply, preparing himself to fire a blast of sound from his mouth.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jack's left hand, the hand which contained the rune for his Scythe began to tremble in anticipation. The show before him couldn't get any better as the turmoil among them began to reach its climax, it looked as if a fight was going to break out and as much as he wanted to keep his abilities a secret, the temptation of engaging another in heated combat was one he would find hard to ignore.
With his right hand, he grasped his left wrist to steady the shaking. His left hand now clenched to hide the scythe's insignia. A soft *umph* sound from a push caused him to raise his head. Luc was no longer on the ice.
His hand ceased to tremble. The fuel to the fire had been put out with Luc's disappearance.
Andromeda was seething. Her hands began to crackle angrily and she was just about to strangle him, when he was suddenly shoved off the edge by Siren. An expression of shock formed on her face.
"What the hell are you thinking? Are you TRYING to get us killed?" She launches herself after Luc, the wind whistling in her ears. Her eyes glow bright, reaching her hands in front of her as energy rockets from her fingers towards Luc. But instead of colliding with him, they curl around him until a thunderclap later, the energy falcon reappears under him. Andromeda nearly lands on top of Luc, but behind him. She frantically grabs hold of him in order to balance herself and growls. She wished there was another balance method, but he was most accessible.
"Try not to run your mouth any more than you have to and we'll get this done faster. You just need to not screw up." The energy falcon flies towards he area Eli motioned to.
Siren turned back to face the others and noted the shocked look on the faces of a few of them.
"What? It got them moving didn't it?"
"Well yes" said Eli weakly. "But I think it might have been better if you had given them a little warning first."
He climbed to his feet and approached the edge of the ice for a better view. Once Luc and Andromeda had reached the right spot they could start drawing in the graboids.
"Are you ready Vex?" he asked over his shoulder.
Evangelina's eyes opened slowly and she found herself shrouded in darkness. The girl quickly jerked upright. A curse on her lips, she quickly took a few steps forward. This was bad, she was suspended within the shadows. As she moved forward, it was like looking through a curtain. She watched as the others moved down below. They wouldn't see her of course, not until she left the shadow plain. The woman turned, her shadowy clothing swaying as if there were a breeze. Her gaze focused on the vampire. She stated at him for a few seconds before turning back to her fellow captives who seemed to be in trouble. The daughter of Hades sighed,
Another time Zygard. Another time...
With that, she headed toward the shadows that were her "teammates."
As a cloud of shimmering shadows formed, Evangelina stepped through and ended up on the pillar. She had taken very careful looks at the shadows of each and now her own questions started to form. No matter, they could be answered later.
"What is going on?" she asked with a soft growl in her throat.
"Screw up? Ha.. that's rich coming from you. Why don't you focus on your own job... if you pass out again, we both die.. " he replied in an angered tone. Balancing himself on the bird. He turned to look up at the pillar, his eyes focusing onto Siren. He was not going to forget this anytime soon.
"Then I guess you just better let me concentrate, unless you want to become worm food." She wished she could choke him to death, but like it or not, he was their best chance at luring them away right now. Curse him for having such useful powers. If only the only thing he could do was turn into a flea or something, I'd squash him flat.
Soon, the energy bird hovered over Eli's indicated location. "Alright genius, show us what you're good for."
Luc stared at the ground, his breathing becoming steadied as he prepared himself. Had he wished, he could fire off one large blast of sound waves at the ground, however decided against that for two reason's, the recoil from firing something like that could possibly effect Andromeda's bird. On normal occasions he would have to release sound waves from his hands to balance out the recoil, but that wasn't possible now. Secondly it would use up his remaining energy, meaning that if the worms lost interest half way, he would no longer be able to draw them back.
Taking one more breath, he released a Sonic scream towards the ground, the earth being blown away from the impact. After several seconds, he fired another, and then another. These frequent vibration signals in the earth would hopefully keep the graboids attention focused on this spot, rather than being attracted to something else.
As Luc and Andromeda prepared and the former started releasing waves of sound into the earth when the latter managed to securely take him to the proper place, Vex approached the edge and nodded to Eli. "I've already started collecting ice under the area that Luc uses his sound waves on... but Kanya has to be careful that she lights the worms on fire from their tails, otherwise the ice will melt and the water released will stop the flames." Vex spoke, ducking on one knee as he focused. His breath became ragged as small shifts in the ground occured where Luc shot the waves and he suddenly opened his eyes. His hand grasped at the edge as a small piece of ice appeared from the ground and spread out, causing the dirt to move out of the way, then sunk in once again. "They're binded together! Kanya, now!" Vex yelled, coughing in pain as he struggled to keep the few worms that struggled furiously to free themselves. It would be just a matter of seconds for them to use their sharp teeth to either cut their tongue off or crack the ice off of it.
“The melting ice and water isn’t the problem.” Kanya spoke softly to herself after Vex informed her. She was more worried about keeping it in control and not let the flames reach to high. If that happens Andromeda and Luc might end up dead. One touch could easily kill them, Kanya had witnessed this before and till this day was scared to use her fire.
When Vex gave the word they girl was still debating on whether which fire to use. Black or white. Or maybe even both. No, she might not control them both and that could cause more trouble. Black will have to do she thought to herself knowing that the fire came from the depths of hell which will make it easier to burn the worms. If it were the white flame then it would need to dig through the sands and maybe weaken it.
With a decision made Kanya stared at the sands, concentrating on forming the fire beneath the area where they were frozen. Soon the sand started to change colour, turning darker and darker. Puffs of spoke escaped the sand followed by black flames. Small sweat drops started to appear on Kanya’s forehead as she concentrated on keeping the fire low. Within a few seconds the worms turned to ash and the sand in a liquid mass.
((I was going for a type of volcano effect, without the lava of course…. I hope it makes sense))
When Evangelina woke up Eli turned to look at her. She seemed a little disorientated, for which he couldn't blame her. A lot had been happening since Andromeda first lifted her up to the ice pillar. As Vex started to use his ice to bind the graboids' tongues together he quickly tried to explain his plan to her.
"We are trying to trap the graboids all in one place and take them out at once. If we run around trying to defeat them a few at a time we'll fail out of exhaustation. Most of us are already worn out."
"Hear hear" muttered Siren under her breath as she watched Kanya step forward to fufill her role.
Eli's attention was pulled away from Evangelina when the most horrible screams began to fill the air. The graboids were writhing, burning in Kanya's flames. Eli couldn't help but feel a little sorry for them. As dangerous as they were, they were little more than animals. They were only hunting them out of instict and hunger.
After a while the graboids fell silent and all that was left was the smell of burnt flesh and sand. Eli signalled to Andromeda to return to the pillar with Luc and then after a moment's hesitation started to climb down the ice.
When his feet touched the ground Eli knew that the danger was over. There was no rumble of thunder underground, no trails of earth pushing it's way towards him. They had won.
Andromeda watched silently as the worms began to burn. She cringed as she heard a grating scream rise from them, black flames turning them to ash in a matter of seconds. She shivered, reminding herself never to make Kanya angry.
She saw Eli's motion to return back as he climbed down the ice himself. The falcon under them swooped into a graceful turn and began to fly the two of them back. She was thankful she was behind Luc, because she was beginning to quiver from the effort of making it seem as though she was having no trouble bringing them back. She lowered her head as tears she knew were blood flowed again. It was that foolish attempt to use her powers outside the arena, it had drawn too much power.
Come on girl, keep it together. She hoped desperately that Luc did not turn around. She let the falcon dip towards the base of the ice, blood running freely from both corners of her eyes in four long streams. But she wouldn't give up, they were almost there. Just a little further...
The bird collapsed under their feet as they touched the ground, depositing them lightly on their feet. Andromeda quickly wiped away the blood and tried to stand up straight, putting on a fake smile. Only she would know what she had to resort to in that flight.
Kanya's display of fire only strengthened Jack's resolve to keep wary of her and her abilities. His straw composed anatomy far more flammable to that of a fleshy worm like creature.
Luc looked skyward as they landed back on the ice, his right hand wiping the sweat off his brow as he gathered as much oxygen as possible. His breathing was heavy and his muscles ached. It was taking everything he had left just to stand up now. He hadn't bothered to look or speak to any of the others, such task's simply requiring too much effort at this moment.
After Kanya was done with burning the things to hell, Vex stopped his focus as the ice cracked and literally burst into shards. He coughed blood and held his stomach as he kneeled on one leg. "Just a bit more..." Vex said, placing a hand on the ice under him and causing it to slowly shatter in layers under them. Of course, the layers were so small it seemed as if they were slowly lowered by an elevator. Finally, after around a couple of minutes the ice had disappeared under the group and they were on the ground. Vex stayed on one leg as he attempted to breathe properly, blood trickling down the sides of his mouth. He was exhausted enough that using a zero core'd make his body disappear. Vex hoped that their struggles were done, or Zygard would kill them now.
Kanya closed her eyes pushing the fire away deep into the ground again. She was afraid of letting it go just yet in case it busts from the earth and harming the two flying above. She took a few deep breathes, pleased with herself that she could control something that big for the first time.
She then looked a bit worried when the ice started to move and turned around to look at the other. She noticed it was Vex breaking it up slowly allowing them to go down. She could see he was in a lot of pain, she wasn’t sure what to do but just support him.
“Vex, are you okay?” She asked softly as she stood next to him.
Throughout the course of this fight, Jack's criminal persona, the one that had been laying dormant within him for the last six years since his arrival to this world was gradually beginning to surface. His criminal instincts, his bloodlust towards those he regarded as opponents and his overall desire to fight where coming back to him. He took in a breath of fresh of breath air to calm his excitement before turning to look at the others.
Many of them were clearly at their limit or on the verge of reaching it, their exhausted demeanor an obvious indicator of their present conditions.
Currently, taking out several of them would be all too easy for him. Whilst many of the others had fought and displayed their abilities through the course of the fight, Jack had done little, if anything to use up his energy. A slight tinkering to his weight was the only sign of him using an ability and even then that was minimal.
Not only would he have an advantage in terms of energy, he also had the element of surprise and knowledge on what some of their power's were.
However the decision on whether to attack now or not was a simple one. To fight a weakened opponent did not interest him. The thrill, the adrenaline and everything else desired could only be attained from fighting someone who could put up a fight.
For now he would continue to hide his true self.
Eli watched as the others slowly made their way down to ground level. Vex seemed to be using the last of his energy reserves to lower the ice pillar down to the ground safely, something that was costing him judging by the trickle of blood coming from his mouth. When everyone was safely down Eli was about to approach him and see if he needed, help, but Kanya beat him to it.
Instead he turned to look at those in the box outside of the shimmering dome. His eyes settled on the Sorceress who had stepped forwards. The old woman made a dismissive gesture with her right hand and suddenly the arena changed. Gone was the sandy earth and the remains of the ice pillar. The various dismembered tongues vanished and everyone wa sleft standing on plain grey stone, the same as the walls. This was the default state of the arena, indicating that the fight was truely over. Eli looked around him before turning back towards the box, but the three figures within it were walking out. They weren't wanted at the moment.
As if to reinforce the point that they had done fighting for now the double doors leading back to the cells swung open. With nothing else to do here, Eli guessed they might as well head back in.
"Come on" he said to the others. "Let's go back."
Vex struggled hard to regain his breath as he quickly turned a gaze toward the ones in the box or room that supposedly held Zygard and that magician woman. The woman inside simply lifted her hand as if it was dismissal and the whole arena shifted into it's original state, causing the things around to vanish too. He turned his head slightly back as Eli spoke for them to return before hearring Kanya's words as well. "I'm... not that bad, actually... let's go..." Vex spoke, attempting to rise to his feet. He succeded before taking two steps and kneeling once again. "Or maybe not... someone assist me to my room?" Vex asked, coughing blood on the ground and clutching at his stomach area.
Eli moved forward as Vex clutched at his stomach and coughed up some more blood. He gently took the other boy's arm and helped him to steady himself.
"Come with me" he said softly.
He helped Vex to his feet and then re-adjusted his grip so that he could hold him better. He looked round at the others for aid.
The arena began to shift beneath Andromeda's bare feet to cold grey stone instead of the warm sand it was before. The sudden temperature shift sent a shiver through her spine, and she wrapped her arms around her midsection. Her clothes were thick, but they were open on both ends, not keeping her very warm. She remained curled over as she slowly walked towards the open doors, shivering and eyes barely open so that she could see where she was going.
When she walked through the doors and out of the arena, she finally fell to the floor with a gasp, shivering a lot more violently. With her powers turned off, it felt as though all her warmth and energy had been sucked from her body, and it was only then that she realized the damage she'd done. With her powers on, she could suppress damages, but here, blood ran from her eyes once more in what would look like bloodied tears.
With an immense effort, she got up and shivered her way to her cell, a trail of blood marking her way. She collapsed onto the bed in her cell, instantly falling asleep. If anyone had come to help her, she would've been oblivious. She was going to sleep for quite a while if left undisturbed.
Kanya watched as Vex tried his best to stand up and walk but he failed badly. Just as she was going to help Eli had already helped him up again.
“I can help.” She spoke quickly making her way next to Vex. She took his arm and placed it gently over her shoulder. She then quickly looked at his bracelet and took not of his cell number. “Eli he is in number five.”
As the pair helped Vex out of the arena she could see those who used a lot of power were quite struggling. She felt very sorry for them and that they were in this situation. Just as they walked out of the arena Kanya quickly turned her head to look at the door and a worried expression appeared on her face.
“No. Their gone again.” She whispered taking note that her hound in her mind has been silenced.
Eli nodded gratefully to Kanya when she volunteered to help him get Vex inside to his cell. He nodded again in understanding when she look at Vex's bracelet and told him the cell number.
"Okay."
Between the two of them they managed to half carry Vex out of the arena and through the doors to the cells. Kanya whispered something as they passed through them, but Eli didn't quite hear what. They maneuvered Vex towards cell door number five, which swung open when it sensed Vex's bracelet. As the cells were narrow Eli took the full weight of Vex from Kanya and dropped him onto the bed as gently as he could.
Exhausted he stood back and noticed that some of the stones lining the cell were glowing. Eli recognised it as healing magic. The fighters would be no good if they died of their injuries outside of the arena. That wasn't part of the game.
The full weight of recent events crashed down on Eli at that point and it was all he could do to stay upright as he left Vex's cell and closed the door behind him. He slumped down to his knees and leaned to one side so that he could prop himself up against the wall.
"I am so tired" he said mostly to himself, but partly to Kanya.
As Eli took Vex from her and placed him on his bed Kanya could only stand outside and wait. She saw some parts of the wall glowing causing her to smile since she found it pretty. When Eli stepped out and fell to his knees Kanya became worried again. She felt in debt to him for helping her escape the worms.
“Come.” She spoke softly to him extending her hand out. Both of them needed to rest for now but he can’t rest in the hallway.
Eli smiled weakly and took Kanya's hand. Everyone was exhausted, not just him. He shouldn't be thinking about himself. He got to his feet and was just looking round for his cell door when he heard a noise from the common room. His brow furrowed with confusion. Had anyone gone down the corridor that far?
He looked at Kanya quizzically and then started to walk towards the common room. When he arrived he didn't see anyone else there, but he noticed a hatch in the wall for the first time. It had a very small shelf in front of it and as Eli approached a bowl of stew was pushed through by someone unseen. A moment later it was joined by a flask.
Not knowng what else he should do Eli took the bowl and flask and stared down at them. Looking at the stew Eli realised he was actually quite hungry.
((If anyone else approaches the hatch they will be given supper too.))
Kanya tilted her head when she heard some noise. It was clear that Eli had heard it as well seeing that he was frowning and looking down the hallway. Kanya was outside the whole time and would have noticed if someone had passed her, she know she wasn’t that clueless. When Eli walked down to the common room the young girl followed close by wonder what they will find.
“What is it?” she asked trying to look over Eli’s shoulder but she was a bit too short. At that moment the hatch opened again and another bowl and flask come out.
