Either a two-way link with a comment and a 'dummy egg' offered.... or just putting up the lineage and saying that you have it available, or something else? The benefit of standardizing it in such a way that affords security will ensure that donations to Z Project actually stay in Z Project family. Opinions? I find two-ways very inconvenient, both for me and the requester, resulting in holding onto the egg longer than I like in most cases. I will use it for special eggs or eggs that I have bred myself and really care about. I haven't seen a huge problem with more common eggs just poofing. Posted April 13, 2016 I still regret putting a Snow Angel hatchling (AP find) on a one-way - it went to a non-Z scroll first and ended up somewhere else later. So for valuable things, I will use two-way teleports and dummies. However, when I find a rather common Z on the AP (or grab one in the cave just to fill an egg slot before going to bed), I often want to get rid of it as fast as possible to free the space. Then I'll just put it here on a one-way and see what happens. If it vanishes in the Non-Z-irvana, so be it... And on the receiving end of a Z transfer: When there is something on a two-way that I would like, but don't absolutely need, I might not even offer, because then I take the (horrible, tremendous ) risk of having an egg slot blocked by the dummy for hours and hours and maybe not even getting the Z afterwards because someone else might have offered, too. If other members feel the same, then maybe a two-way won't get any offers because everybody thinks there must already be other offers waiting. (These are problems that can probably be solved easily by a thing called "communication". I'm just not very good at that. ) Share this post Link to post
Posted April 13, 2016 Oh yeah, the other end ... By my experience, I either get impatient and withdraw my offer after a while, drop the dummy and hunt for something else, OR I get told someone else was faster than me anyway. Thus, I mostly ignore two-ways these days. Share this post Link to post

Reading back - I never get around to "recording" donations... I've dumped (to Z people) more than I've ever shown up with - and I actually don't care ! Posted April 13, 2016 (edited) Because I have been burned on common dragons I mostly post on two-way no matter what I have. Lately I have relaxed that personal policy a bit and it's so far been safe, but like everyone else the valuables get two-way which include rares (as if I ever have them), uncommons, new releases and pretty lineages. My reasons for a two-way even on commons are that I do care because I keep all my dragons if no Z member wants them - they don't get tossed back - so I don't want some non-member coming along and taking my (yes, MY) CB Z'White because they don't have one. I get what many of you have said about new members and it is (now) a concern because if they are new also to dragon cave they likely don't have the space for a dummy. Also agree with those of you who say two-ways are a pain and I did forget once that I had made a post like that - someone ended up waiting a long time for me to accept. Now I'm forgetting which person said what, but I think Pattekat (or maybe Ruby Eyes) said about just posting a lineage to the egg on offer and that sounded good to me, but it also requires watching the thread to see if someone asks for it. I don't know whether it ever helps or not but when I do post only a one-way I include a message that they are for Z members only and that I do keep all my Z dragons so 'no touchy' if you aren't Z project. I read every post and whenever I see a post that says "I have a Z egg up for grabs..." then I record it as a Donation. There are some donations that never get to a Z-Collector; however if they were offered on this thread as a donation, I count them all the same. Fortunately, most people who post their Z dragons are good about saying where they got them from, and when it says "Gift from Fuzzbucket", then Fuzzbucket will get an entry into her Z Donations area. And some people grab eggs but are slow to name them (like me), so I even go back after a few months to check if the dragons without names HAVE been named for Z Project... and if they have, and I can identify the user, I'll add it to their Z record, even if they've never posted it here or Google docs or anywhere. You probably don't have all your donations listed just yet for the same reason that you don't have all your dragons listed yet.... me being slow on the updating side. TRADE SECTION Seems like we have the donation thing fairly well under control. I like the idea of the 'hey I have this, does anyone want it' because it means that you don't have to use a one-way to fear for someone taking it, and don't have to wait around for a dummy egg. I concur that too structured would scare people off, I just wanted to see if there was a better way of doing the donations to prevent theft, because it is a problem and has been for years. Posted April 14, 2016 I got a z coded egg, I kind of wanted to keep it but figured it could go to the z project. It's of an interesting lineage, slightly messy but oh well.
