The Power Inside

Recommended Posts

The staircase came off its hinges, swinging toward the monsters at the walls and bashing at them. Suddenly, Diana was being grabbed. Bastian, it was that stupid arse of a boy. "Let me go!" she screamed, so wildly so that one might think he was trying to kill her. Rain seeing her predicament, leapt forward with a lash out at him with two front hooves. She was careful to not hit him, but wasn't above that if he didn't let her Summoner go. Diana hated being pushed around.

Imari lifted Khaine up and started moving him up the staircase. She saw that he was in pain but they had to get out. If that gas kept eating away of everything the floor might sink in and then they all would fall. Carefully she dragged him along noticing her cousin’s struggle.

“Bastian.” She spoke in a stern voice.

Bastian quickly looked at Imari that was a bit ahead of them by now. He knew that tone of voice. It meant he had to hurry up and get moving or she will interfere.

“Shut up.” Bastian scolded at Diana, now using more force to get her out. “Your actions are going to get us killed. It has an advantage here. We need to get outside.”

From behind the batsid, appeared another head, just as similar as the first Batsid, its wings scraping against the wall as it tried to push its way past its brethren and further back was a 3rd one, still clambering up the stairway to reach its companions.

The two new arrivals had been lured here from the lower level's by screech a few minutes ago and just like the first they were just as ravenous.

Oh, hoh hoh. Now he had gone too far. With a toss and a flick of her head, Rain charged toward him. Her shoulder aimed to hit him, then she veered away. Diana yelled, viciously trying to elbow him and kick him. She was not going to be dragged out by him - not a chance.

Ceil slumped down against the doorframe, blood pouring down his face. Seth was killing the Batsids attacking him as quickly as he could, but there was so many of them. Ceil jerkily reached up and touched his left eye. His sight had gone in it, but he was in too much pain to be able to properly tell what was wrong. His working eye caught sight of his hand and he stared at it. He had lost three of his finger tips.

A scream from down the stairs pulled his attention back to his students. That had sounded like Diana. Pulling himself up Ceil started to make his way slowly down the stairs, each step felt like he was moving through treacle.

Eventually he got down far enough to be able to see what was going on. Bastain, Imari, Khaine and Diana were engaged in a fight with a Batsid, but Rain was attacking Bastain. Before Ceil could figure out what the hell was going on an icy blast of wind blew up through the stairwell.

Hima leapt into sight, plowing through a doorway and knocking the rear most Bastsid down the stairs. He then instantly lunged for the leg for the nest nearest monster and started to drag in backwards away from the students. As he dragged it back past the doorway he had leapt out of Artur appeared and plunged a thick iron spike into the Batsid's eye.

The batsid which had been pounced upon by Hima rolled down the stairs, the impact great enough to know it off its balance and thus render it temporarily immobile 1 floor down after its head clattered into the wall.

The Batsid which had been bitten on the leg, let out a pained howl, which echoed against the walls, its clawed wings scratching against the steps as it tried to find some grip, in order to prevent itself from being dragged down, this however was futile.

With the iron spike plunged into its eye, it clumsily retreated backwards, letting out a series of distress calls to its brethren, its acidic spit was going everywhere as it shook its head in pain.

Khaine's body jerked forward as the icy wind chilled his spine sending shivers up it, his left hand which was being used to hold the handlerbar as his right hang over Imari, gripped tightly.

He could hear the cries of the creatures below, their calls ringing through his ears.

Arthur raised his arm to shield himself as the falling Batsid tumbled further down the stairs spraying acid. The green liquid splashed along the sleeve which he then rubbed off against the wall, leaving large holes in the material.

As the cries of more Batsids started to echo up the stairs Arthur mentally commanded Hima to block the way. The ice wolf instantly leapt in front of him and began to build a wall of solid ice with his breath. It only took a few moments to fully plug the stairwell, but the wall would not last forever.

((There is only the one Batsid left in their section of the stairwell yes?))

Bastian held on tight to Diana even with the tantrum she was throwing at the moment. Her arms waving wildly and her fiend tried to attack as well. Angered Bastian did the next best thing he could do.

“Sorry.” He whispered into her ear. He then turned Diana around punching her hard in her stomach. It was hard enough for her to stop her raging and soft enough not to knock her out.

“Come on lets get out of here.”

Diana gasped, falling forward slightly. But in her rage, she found it within herself to scrabble still at his arms, twisting about. "Lemme go! I want to kill them - they're going to get to Noland!" she screamed, tears beginning to pour down her cheeks. At first they had just been monsters disturbing his death, but now they were going to pull down the whole building. Suddenly curling herself forward, she tried to bite his arm - hard. Meanwhile, Rain charged toward the nearest monster, horn aimed straight for it's chest.

The Batsid stood its ground, traces of the smoke still escaping from its mouth. If the equine fiend wanted a head on challenge, the batsid was all too willing too obliged. With a challenging screech it clawed its way towards the water fiend, the gas now gone and replaced with drools of acidic spit as it opened its maw ready to bite away at its dinner.

"DIANA! STOP BEING A BLOODY IDIOT AND GET OUT THE DAMN WAY!" yelled Ceil down the stairs.

Diana was letting her emotions get the best of her. Rain stood no chance against the Batsid and all she would accomplish was getting herself killed. If they could draw the Batsid further up then either Imari or Bastain could summon their Fiends and kill it, both being elements that could easily do so.

Then maybe they could help out Seth, because Ceil wasn't sure how much longer he was going to last.

Rain made a split second decision by herself. She galloped to the monster - then put her practice with Diana into practice. Sizing up the monster, she rose up on her back legs, tucked up her front legs, and flew straight over the monster. Then landing, she twisted about with a shrill scream and stabbed her horn straight toward the batsid.

Ceil's yell somewhat cut through her thoughts. Diana stiffened, looking up. He was barely recognisable. No, no, no. He couldn't die. Not him too. She fell limp in Bastian's arms, unable to move with him gripping at her, and stared up at Ceil with a slightly blank expression. Not him too.

As Rain charged the Batsid lunged to one side, causing the water Fiend to stumble past. The Batsid turned and dived towards Rain, teeth bared and dribbling acid. The monster bit down deeply into Rain's neck and latched on, making it impossible for the Fiend to pull itself free.

Arthur watched this take place, but could not do anything to help. Hima was having to apply layer after layer of ice to his wall to prevent the Batsid horde on the other side from breaking through.

Rain screamed shrilly, a sound combined with her Summoner's. Diana twisted about, blood pouring down her neck. She wanted to give up, but one more time. She had to try to kill it. For Noland. Rain hoped twice, then flung herself onto the ground - neck first. She rolled herself violently, thrashing the side of her neck it was on violently as her Summoner bled out, sobbing softly to herself.

((Sorry, I didn't think of it like that. wink.gif Just wanted to let the Batsid get a blow in before someone killed it.

I was thinking more like the side of neck, but whatever smile.gif))

((That's what I was thinking. Too good an opportunity to pass up.

Khaine closed his eyes and looked away as he witnessed the Batsid bite down on Rain's neck. He could only imagine the pain Diane must have felt, his own wound clearly not as serious as hers.

"Can't you do something!" he shouted towards Bastian, "Your suppose to be military right?!... DO SOMETHING!" he shouted his throat begining to feel irritated as he strained his voice, unaware as to why he couldn't summon his fiend in such a tight space.

Imari half carried Khaine further and further away from the batsid but the boy was too focused on what was happening with Diana.

“Khaine I can’t drag you all by myself the whole way. Put some effort in it!” Imari scolded. “He can handle this.” At that same moment she could see Ceil noticing how awful he looked and getting worse by the minute. If she could just get Khaine by him she could get out and help Seth.

Bastian had no choice, when the batsid bore its fangs into Rain’s neck causing blood to drip from Diana’s neck. Pulling out a dagger he used the hilt and knocked Diana on the head with it. It knocked her out cold causing Rain to disappear out of the monsters jaws. He knew she would hate him for this but what else could he do at the moment. Carrying her now a lot easier, Bastian hurried towards he know the others would be waiting.

“Coming Arthur?” Bastian called.

Everything was... Everything was going fuzzy. Her mind, her thoughts, her actual vision. Rain was screaming, neighing, panickstricken. But the Batsid would not let go of her. Suddenly she was bashed on the head, and fell limp in Bastian's arms. Blood still dropped from her neck as the blue mist returned to her neck. She'd had a momentary thought before she'd gone under - at least, if that had been a crushing blow to Rain's head, she had died in battle and for Noland...

"Coming."

Now that the others were starting to make their way up the stairs to safety Arthur could move. He turned away from the wall of ice and made to follow after Bastain, but the Batsid that had been attacking Rain turned to face him. The monster lunged towards the young Summoner but was suddenly accosted by Hima, who leapt over Arthur and landed right on the Batsid's face.

As an ice Fiend Hima's magic was useless against the Batsid and the monster was also much larger, but the distraction was enough to allow Arthur to pass by safely. He raced up the stairs and through the door to the next floor, slamming it shut the moment Hima joined him. The ice wolf instantly got to work with icing the door over to hinder any monsters from chasing them.

Ceil, who had limped out of the way when the teenagers had raced for safety watched the ice wolf for a moment before turning his attention to the others. They still needed to get up one more flight of stairs to get to the roof.

"Everyone make for the roof, now. It's time to relocate."

Imari had finally reached Ceil on the next set of stairs going to the roof. She rested Khaine nearby making sure she didn’t injure him any further. She then looked at their teacher, worried at his condition at the moment.

“Hold on Ceil. Please.” she spoke softly to him.

Bastian at that time had reached them as well laying Diana down next Khaine.

“Come Imari lets clear the way.” he spoke walking past her heading to the roof where he could summon his own fiend.
