I assumed the dragon in the Halloween Contagion picture was a Red Dragon, albiet a younger one.

Though, it also looks similar to a holly in body structure, though missing several defining characteristics (like the horns and leaf-like tail fin):

Maybe, it's a hybrid between the two dragons?

 

Though, it's probably just a generic dragon for the event.

I searched the wiki for dragons which matched it's characteristics (wings, horns and tail) and I could see Whiptails and Sunrises/Sunsets being the dragon.

 

 

So unless the colouration of an infected dragon would change (a bit like a neglected dragon), i'd probably say that it's just a generic dragon.

I also noticed that an infected dragon, colour-wise (body and eyes), looks a bit like an inverted neglected but that's probably just a coincidence.

I think it looks like a VERY VERY ill female purple.... the dragon rather than the pose.

If you've got incubators available it should still be safe for you to grab eggs today. The AP eggs don't have a full 7 days on them, and even if they did they would still hatch with incubation before the end of the day on the 31st.

Hatchling-locked, not egg-locked. I'm very near the 21 growing things cap right now.

 

e: Also, I can't refind the post that this is replying to but the wiki isn't always right; TJ's confirmed that it's the full day of Halloween, IIRC.

I ended up getting one more batch of eggs, though most of them are going toward my freeze goals... hopefully this won't make Halloween any more difficult for me... I'm just happy I don't have to work that day, so I have all day to try and grab eggs!

also i noticed something weird on my scroll! it seems the contagion has had an unexpected effect on some of my dragons...i have to find them all and check them to see if it's a breed specific effect or not... do i get to name this new effect after myself? the Crystalsetsuna Reversal effect? *joking*

so i'm not the first to make this discovery? drats, there goes my infamy!

 

it is a rather funny to think of this as an effect of the contagion...that some dragons can revert back to egg form somehow... like little miniature adults inside the egg thinking to themselves, "wtf just happened...?"

It´s supposed to be a younger red dragon that has already been weakened by the contagion; it has been infected for a few days, not able to move around much or eat, thus not very "bulky" looking anymore.

 

This is in no way official but my take on this contagion is it being similar to a cordyceps fungus (be careful if you want to google it, it is not really ...pretty), that grows inside its host (insects) and more or less turns them into a zombie before it kills them and uses them as a nutrient source.

I imagine the goo behaves similarly...it will slowly spread across the dragon's skin, turning it a sickly grey, before growing into the dragon as well once it has been sufficiently weakened (that´s the stage the dragon in the pic is in). Once it has spread far enough it takes over control and steers the dragon´s body to go on a rampage in order to spread the contagion as far as it can before the dragons body gives out and is consumed.

 

So uh...yeah, probably a bit more than you guys wanted to know but there you go

Ok, my egg with the goop on it is 6 hours late to hatch. This didn't happen with the non-gooped eggs. Since the goop is supposed to slow dragons down, is it slowing the hatching cycle? Cause if it is, stop gooping the eggs, LOL

oooo i love it the whole idea of cordyceps fungi, i love how cool and pretty imo the bugs look especially the ants once the fungus bursts through its body and begins to bloom and spread its spores
