I just Bit a misclicked CB egg hoping to repulse it, and guess what? It turned AND stayed. You just can't win with Vampires.

Bite with a turn and stay *wipes forehead* I am very relieved, as it was an egg with a great code, and I was terrified to bite it in case it died.

Since my dragons all seem to be in the "no egg produced" mode I've gone into biting spree. Four bites with 50/50 results. Two deaths and two turned and stayed. I'll take it.
