Review: I totally did not see the twist coming. Excellent book. Book Number: 22 Number Of Pages: 385 Book Title: Night Road Author: Kristin Hannah Summary: Threesome Zach, Mia and Lexi make one bad decision on a hot summer night that will change their lives forever. Review: Very engaging, if sometimes traumatic, read. Book Number: 23 Number Of Pages: 218 Book Title: One Crazy Summer Author: Rita Williams-Garcia Summary: In 1968, Delphine, Vonetta, and Fern head to Oakland, California to meet the mother who left them after Fern was born. Posted September 26, 2023 (edited) Book Number: 9 Number Of Pages: 275 Book Title: Disability Visibility Author: edited by Alice Wong Summary: This book is a collection of essays that highlights the complexity of the disabled experience and challenges readers to question their own understandings. Review: I found this book very difficult to read for a variety of reasons. It did give me a new perspective on many of the issues faced by disabled people in a world that often marginalizes them. Book Number: 10 Number Of Pages: 215 Book Title: The Big Cat Nap Author: Rita Mae Brown and Sneaky Pie Brown Summary: Mary Minor "Harry" Hairston investigates a series of murders, putting her own life in danger. Review: The author's gimmick of interspersing the flow of the story with dialogue between the heroine's pets gets in the way of the plot for me. I found myself skimming through a lot of this book (and not just the pet talk) to get to the parts that were actually pertinent. This was the twentieth-anniversary book for the "Mrs. Murphy" (one of Harry's cats) series and it seems that the whole idea is just worn out. Looking into an unsolved murder as a favor, McKenzie soon uncovers either the strangest set of coincidences or the sites of a very real, very deadly conspiracy. Review: So many suspects that I found myself having a hard time keeping them straight. Still it was an engaging story that turned out very differently than it seemed it would. Posted October 9, 2023 Book Number: 14 Number of Pages: 318 Book Title: The Ghosts of Crossley Manor Author: Amy Cross Summary: A young couple finally have their dream place to turn into a luxory hotel in a quaint English town. The ghosts that live in the building may have something to say about this... Review: 5/5 I really loved how the couple wanted to incorporate ghost hunting into the hotel stay. It made me chuckle. Book Number: 15 Number of Pages: 544 Book Title: Eragon Author: Christopher Paolini Summary: Eragon finds a dragon egg, and it hatches for him. He's pulled into a fantastic adventure with his dragon, a beautiful blue girl called Saphira. Review: 5/5 Man... I read this book in high school, a million years ago, and yeah... It's still pretty fun. Saphira is adorably sassy with her human Rider, and she makes me laugh so hard at times. The book was written by a teenager, who's family published it for him, and it does hold up pretty well. I'm rather impressed. Share this post Link to post

Posted October 10, 2023 (edited) Book Number: 12 Number of Pages: 316 Book Title: Room on the Porch Swing Author: Amy Clipston Summary: When Laura Riehl's best friend Sevilla dies suddenly she steps in to help Sevilla's husband Allen care for their infant daughter. Review: Likeable Amish characters. Pretty predictable outcome. This is an earlier book in the series that included the one I reviewed earlier. Possibly the predictability had something to do with that fact, but it was a pretty standard tale of forbidden love. Book Number: 13 Number of Pages: 341 Book Title: Twenty-one Truths About Love Author: Matthew Dicks Summary: Bookstore owner's angst about the financial reality of his enterprise and his regret at leaving his teaching job behind. Review: Can you make a novel from nothing but a series of lists? The author has and it is pretty easy to follow the plot, although there are gaps. Funny sometimes, poignant sometimes, just plain stupid sometimes, but generally a good read. Edited October 10, 2023 by purplehaze Share this post Link to post

Review: 5/5 Fun to read. Not as good as the other Old Kingdom books, but still not terrible. I really liked Bel, as he made me chuckle quite a few times. Also... Ace representation! Book Number: 17 Number of Pages: 320 Book Title: Cujo Author: Stephen King Summary: Cujo was a good boy, until a chance encounter with a bat makes him go bad. Review: 5/5 Everything about this book is sad. Most of the characters sorta suck, except Tadder who's a lovely little boy, and yet I still adore this novel. It's real, gritty and also even a little fun in a perverse sort of way. Share this post Link to post
