Vex watched as the ground in the center crumbled and fell. He was able to stab a spike into the hard ground on the other side, though, and was holding on it. His gaze spotted Jack, who was trying to feing being dead. As somebody shouted for the others to cover his ears, Vex closed his eyes and let go of the spike, then covered his ears before a large scream came through. It caused a ton of vibrations on one of the walls nearby, causing the monsters to rush over there. As Vex tumbled by Jack, he rose to his feet. "Jack, stay close, okay?" Vex spoke as he slammed a hand into the ground. He focused and a trickle of blood dripped from his lips as a large column of ice suddenly lifted them up and over the usual floor of the arena. "And then something extra..." Vex spoke as he rose up from the ground, then coughed loudly and dropped to one knee as his breath became shallow and his eyesight blurred. As the column stopped, suddenly, a series of spikes came out and into a circle, stabbing into the ground and through until they hit a wall. There were gaps between each of them, so the worms were going to live through this, but a couple of them may be out of the game. This also stabilized the large column in place.

Eli yelped as something grabbed hold of him and pulled him from the ground. He twisted in its grip, not being to see what was holding him properly. He knew it wasn't a graboid, as the giant worms could not fly, but it could be some other creature.

Just as he was able to get a proper look at whatever was holding him and recognise it as a construct of Andromeda's, a large pillar of ice erupted into its' flight path. The pterodactyl and boy slammed into it and Eli tumbled down until he caught hold of a spike of ice.

Dazed and winded he took a moment to catch his breath before looking around him. Everyone was tring to fight the graboids in their own way, but there was no co-ordination to their attacks or defences. Siren seemed to be struggling to hold Andromeda, the latter's spells having thrown her unawares. Eventually she had no choice but to land on the ice pillar next to Jack and Vex and put Andromeda down.

"You need to warn people before you pull a stunt like that you know".

Siren walked to the ice of the pillar and looked down at Eli.

"You okay down there kid?"

Eli nodded. While the spike was cold it was high enough to keep him out of the way of the graboids. But what about the others? There were still several people on the ground in danger of sinking into the graboids' trap.

Luckily, Alia heard the yell for them to cover their ears. She obeyed, clappig her hands over her ears tightly. A gasp of pain escaped her as the extremely loud sound rescue her ears, and her body convulsed in the air. That was horrible. But Jack seemed to be alright. She hovered unsurely. Everything was very much chaotic.

Kanya quickly lifted her barrier when she saw the others were of to help Andromeda. She then herself stood slowly up careful not to make to much movement. It didn’t help much seeing that graboid’s tongues appeared next to her. Out of instinct and her fear a deadly white flame engulfed the creature’s tongues, spreading down towards the creature itself. In mere seconds white smoke emitted from the ground indicating that the creature died a sudden death.

Still grasping the fact that she had destroyed a monster she could feel the earth below her was moving. Wha-what? She thought to herself as she started noticing the earth pulling her into the sand ‘vortex’. Panicked Kanya started to run towards the ice pillar.

Eli saw Kanya start to race towards the pillar. The ground was starting to sink behind her and it was falling with increased speed. She would not reach the main column of ice before the graboids caught up to her.

The spike that Eli was holding onto was much closer, if in a slightly different direction. Hoping that she would be able to reach him in time he shimmed down the spike a little and called over to her.

"Over here" he cried throwing an arm out for her to grab.

Kanya ran for her life, falling in the sands of the sinkhole. Her legs were getting tired and aching from trying to run in the sandy surface. Her heart slightly started to sink as she knew the chances of actually getting to the pillar were very scares.

Just as she was about to loose hope she heard someone calling to her. Her head quickly turned and noticed it was Eli. He was on one of the ice spikes and he was closer too. Turning her direction towards him, Kanya forced herself to continue, dodging some of the tongues that tried to grab her along the way.

Stretching out her hand Kanya grabbed hold of Eli’s hand. At that same time a graboid rose for the sandy ‘vortex’ ready to strike the pair of them but the creature merely bounced of the invincible barrier.

“Tha- thank... you.” she spoke out of breathe.

When Kanya ran over and grabbed his hand Eli suddenly wondered if this was such a good idea. It wasn't that she was heavy or anything, but Eli had little musclular strength and had never had to pull anyone up before. Not wanting to drop her back into the swirling vortex below them Eli strained hard against the spike of ice to pull her up, with several grunts of effort.

Eventually he managed to haul Kanya up to a less precarious position, which due to the shape of the ice spike meant she was half seated on his lap. Eli realised what he had done the moment she was in place, causing him to blush vividly and look away in embarrassment.

Kanya was to focused on the graboid that tried to break through the barrier but it finally gave up and retreated into the earth. Feeling a bit safer now that it had gone she slightly turned to look at Eli. He was looking away which made her wonder why. Was there something else attacking them from behind or was he looking for a way for them to get to safety.

“E-Eli. Will we be ok here?” she asked looking down. “I don’t think we will be able to hang around here to long. Its kind of uncomfortably for you.” she spoke, blushing slightly as she noticed how they were sitting.

Eli didn't turn back to look at Kanya as his face felt hot enough to melt. It was so stupid. Here they were suspended only a few feet away from death and he was getting nervous over being so close to a girl. If he could move his legs he'd kick himself.

"We should be okay if we don't move too much" he said mentally cursing himself. "I'm not sure how much of the vibrations the graboids can pick up through the ice."

Eli wasn't exactly stupid, but his range of knowledge was limited. He knew little about physics and how such things worked, so he wasn't going to pretend he did. He could only hope that if they stayed still for long enough the graboids would 'lose' them.

“Okey.” Kanya whispered slowly. Her body grew tense and tried not to move much. She was trying to follow Eli’s advice on staying put to the last letter. She then looked at the boy again and notice he still didn’t make much eye contact with her. She was slightly worried cause she didn’t want to burden him seeing that he already helped her to get to safety.

“Eli everything okey?” she whispered into his ear.

Jack continued to play the role of the 'helpless scarecrow' as Vex approached him. As the ice began to rise he began to move closer to the center as the pillar rose above the earth. He was partially relieved that he was now away from the action below and at a safe location. From up here he had a better vantage point to see the other's and their abilities.

For the most part he had some knowledge on most of their abilities, but to say that his knowledge was anywhere near complete would be premature. Several had yet to show any form of offensive abilities whilst a couple; like Jack hadn't given any real sign of their abilities. He glanced at Eli, who like Jack hadn't really shown any solid evidence of an abilitiy, offensive or defensive. Sighing, he looked away not wanting to accidentally attract his attention. If he played his cards right, he could get through this ordeal without revealing his secrets. There was however a slight chance that his plan could be foiled. He turned around and looked at Alia, examining her for a second and wondering whether or not she was suspicious about his 'light weight'. He had been caught off guard by the shock wave and therefore was not able to increase the gravity on his body back to normal.

A burning smell drew his attention away from Alia. Glancing back down at the earth, he notice the smallish figure of Kanya still unfortunate enough to be in the middle of the chaos. A graboid near her was writhing around in pain, a white aura surrounding it.

Jack's eyes widened, "Fire.." he muttered as he realized the burning smell was coming from that Graboid and the white aura was in fact flames. The sight of the graboid burning sent a shiver down Jack's spine. He could heal his own wounds and even reattach a severed limb with ease but the moment his straw body was set ablaze... that was game over. "That girl.. " he muttered, as he made a mental note to be weary of her.

Vex finally caught his breath and noticed how Siren told him he should warn the others before doing so rash. "Sorry... had to get Jack and me out of there..." The young man spoke between breaths as he coughed another chunk of blood - boy was he feeling bad now. He peered down the side of the ice pillar, spotting Eli as he hung on the spike. Another girl rushed at him and he caught her, pulling her up in his lap. That seemed uncomfortable. After a large breath, Vex showed himself from the edge. "Eli! Get ready, I'm raising another pillar under you two!" He yelled out before closing his eyes. The ground under the two rumbled as a pillar of ice got out of it, this time rising slowly under them and continuing until it was at their level. Meanwhile, the spike that Eli held on disappeared as soon as they were able to step on the rising pillar. When it was finally at their level, Vex stopped and coughed again. His limit was very close - doing a Zero Core right now would cause him to make a part of his body disappear entirely just as a substitute for energy - like his arm or his leg.

Andromeda shouts "No!" as her pterodactyl holding Eli slams into the ice pillar. The energysaur crackled, destabilizing for a moment and released him onto the ice. She sighed. I suppose it's better than nothing. She brought the other pterodactyl over to the pillar she and Siren landed on and placed Evangelina upon it before the two dinos disintegrated in a loud clap.

She blushed red in embarrassment as Siren put her down. "I'm sorry, I didn't have much time to react." She supposed that was true, although there wasn't really a way to tell for sure. She looked around confusedly, quite dazed from what had happened, her senses unable to comprehend most things. "What's going o...."

Andromeda screamed in pain and fell to her knees when the sound wave hit her. She was used to thunderclaps, but this was ear-splitting. By the time she got her hands to her ears, she was already feeling blood trickle down. A quick flare of her powers and the damage was fixed. Such a waste of perfectly good energy. Everyone seemed to be up on the ice now. She growled in frustration at the ground beneath them. This ends now.

A small thunderclap later, her energy falcon reappeared. As it snatched her up, she said, "I'll ask you cover your ears again, possibly close your eyes. This is gonna be forceful." She was carried to the center by the falcon and her eyes burned hotter. "Eat fire, you ugly worms."

With a battle cry, a pillar of energy burst forth and slammed into the ground. As she made it travel and manipulated it to the moving earth, a new scream of graboid suffering came along with flame and the awful smell of cooked meat. One by one, the graboids fell to the energy core and the earth began to stop its movement. Then, there was just a single one left. Sustaining such a pillar for so long took massive effort, and somehow, the graboid tongue shot up and latched onto her ankle once more. Immediately, she stopped everything she was doing in surprise and screamed as she fell hard to the earth, the falcon holding her up gone. The last graboid wasn't going to be merciful as the impact scrambled her senses into disarray.

"Yes" lied Eli to Kanya. "Everything is fine. Just fine."

When a block of ice formed under the two of them Eli held her close to prevent her from falling. This close contact made his face burn hotter than ever and he resolutely stared in another direction. When they could they stepped onto the platform hosting the others and he let go, moving away to try and hide his embarrassment.

When Andromeda began to attack the graboids with her giant beam of energy Eli felt his stomach sink. This was a very bad idea. The pillar of energy was doing more than burning through the graboids in the seething mass of earth. It also melting away the supports of the ice pillar.

Seeing this Eli turned to stop Andromeda from causing any further damage to the ice but with a thunderous crack the giant structure began to fall apart. One of the edges of the ice pillar splintered off and began to fall down. It just happened to be the part Eli was standing on.

"AAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGHHHHHH!"

Eli screamed as he fell, his arms waving madly, desperately trying to grab hold of something or someone. He fell down with the chunk of ice and soon vanished into the swirling earth.

Luc watched from his position along the rim of the arena, the earth closest to the wall managing to keep its structure. An Ice pillar had erected from the earth and had began to act as the gathering point for the other's, at least most of them. Not including himself or hector, there were still three people he could not locate, the two guys who had earlier gotten into a verbal discussion with Evangeline before the arena opened and another boy, who looked to be younger then himself with black hair who for the most part had been quiet.

Barely maintaining his balance on what little earth he stood on, he tried his best to locate those three through all the chaos. As he searched for the three, he noticed a figure falling off the ice as part of the pillar gave way after the last energy blast. From where he was and with his blurred vision he couldn't make out any distinguishing characteristics of the person. He watched as he disappeared into the swirling earth below.

"You have got to be kidding me!, What the F, are those fools playin at over there!" he cursed. Tensing himself up, he began to shoot weaker but more frequent sound waves into the imploded earth in front of him in hopes of drawing the graboids attention this way with the vibrations. With his current strength, sending them any further would have little affect. With his vibrations attracting the graboids, he hoped that there would be an opening for one of the others to make the rescue.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jack watched as part of the pillar broke off sending Eli hurtling towards the earth below. Lowering his head, he managed to conceal a sinister grin. Saving the boy would have been a simple task for Jack, given his ability to manipulate gravity, however unlike most of the other captives, Eli's abilities were still shrouded in complete mystery. It would be much simpler if he disappeared, rather then having to spend time and energy trying to figure out what his powers were.
Composing himself and making sure that his grin was gone, he rushed over to the edge of the ice and looked down, just managing to catch a glimpse of the boy before he went under. "The boy... the boy fell!" he shouted, feigning worry.
Kanya held onto Eli tightly as he started to get them down on the new ice platform that Vex created. As they stood on the platform they young girl dropped her barrier feeling that is was safe enough for them. Looking to the person who helped them they, Kanya gave a little smile thanking him but soon worried when she saw him coughing blood. She still wanted to call out and asked if he needed help but then she grabbed her ears.
The sound was to hard for her and the heat that it gave off was just as horrible. Her eyes shot open thinking heat and ice don’t mix. Turning around she witnessed Eli disappearing as the ice gave under him.
“ELI!” Kanya called out hurried towards his aid missing his finger tips by a little. Why didn’t I place the barrier over all of us she thought to herself as she watched him fall.
"Eli! No!" She didn't understand it. Why had her power melted the supports while Kanya's had done nothing, despite Kanya's actually BEING fire. Her electricity was supposed to be concentrated on a single point, the heat focused. Something else had happened here, and she realized the jets of flame that had erupted from the graboids as they cooked under her power. Her heart sank, that would've done it.
There was only one graboid to deal with now, and Andromeda's rage towards it was unparalleled. "This is your fault, worm. Get your slimy tongue off my ankle!" Another jet from her hand sliced the tongue clean through, and the single graboid was free of her. But rather than head towards where Eli had fallen, or continue its assault on her, it seemed to head off in a new direction. She looked up and saw Luc standing there, sending pulses through the ground. Great, now I owe him one.
Andromeda looked into the place where Eli had sunk and felt helpless. There was no way she'd be able to get through the mass of earth now that it was solidifying. She couldn't dig him out either, it'd be too dangerous. All she could do was sit and hope, watching terrified at the ground where he disappeared.
((Thanks.))
Ei felt himself sinking through the earth, so badly churned up it was almost like quicksand. He couldn't see or hear anything and his mouth filled up with dirt. Earth was pressing in on him from all sides and sheer terror gripped him. Was he going to die down here? In the dark and dirt?
Because the graboids had churned up the ground so badly it was near impossible for them to sense the vibrations of anything happening below the surface. One dug its way past him, slashing open his arm with its beak. The pain of his flesh being torn open made Eli jolt away, his arms moving through the loose earth in reflex. Suddenly he hit something cold. The base of the ice pillar.
Starting to go woozy from the lack of oxygen Eli grabbed at the rough ice and began to pull himself close to it. Once he had both hands clinging to the pillar he began to drag himself in what he hoped was up. After what felt like hours, his lungs burning, Eli finally broke the surface.
Eli clung to the ice pillar, coughing up what may well have been half the arena and pried open his eyes. He couldn't see the others, being now at the wrong angle to see them, but he could hear them above the rumbling of the graboids. Hopefully that meant they were safe.
Looking around for a way to climb to safety Eli became aware of someone watching him . He twisted his neck to look behind him and spotted the three people in the box watching him carefully. Zygard was standing up now, having moved to get a better view.
Eli turned his attention to the task at hand. He couldn't call up to the others without alerting the graboids to his location. That meant he would have to climb up on his own. As he slowly pulled himself free of the soldifying ground he sought for better handholds in the ice.
When I get back up to the top he thought to himself as he tried to ignore the pain in his arm I am going to...going to...going to look at Andromeda very scathingly.
She breathed in relief as he dragged himself out. That relief turned to hurt however as she saw his expression. I've ruined my reputation...no matter what I do, I can't seem to help. A tear rolled down her cheek as she looked up at Zygard. I hope you're happy...
With his arm bleeding badly the climb up the ice pillar was a lot more difficult then Eli had hoped. It didn't help that he stuck to some areas of the pillar and slid on others. He didn't know how long it took him to get all the way up, but he was well and truely exhausted when he finally flung an arm over the top most ledge.
He was too tired to haul himself up properly, so Eli looked meaningfully over at those collected on top of the pillar and waved his hand a little.
"Little help please? I'm slipping."
((There you go. Andromeda can help by pulling him up xd.png))
((Unfortunately Andromeda is down on the sand from when the graboid slammed her down there. And it would seem kinda selfish if she flew up onto the top and cut others off laugh.gif I suppose there's one thing I COULD do))
She saw him begin to slip as he reached the top, and she hopped back to her feet, her falcon appearing underneath her. She flew up underneath him and pushed lightly up on the bottoms of his feet, pushing him up onto the spire. Soon after, she flew up on top herself, the energy falcon flickering into non-existence and she fell on top of the ice, breathing heavily. Each breath rasped with fatigue, her chest heaving with the effort. She knew she couldn't do much more until she rested.
((Pulling, pushing...what the diff lol))
Eli rolled over and sprawled himself out in what room there was left on top of the ice pillar. His arm was hurting badly and the steep climb after nearly suffocating was playing murder with his lungs. He was coughing up lumps of dirt even now.
After he got some of his breath back he managed to pull himself up into a sitting position and looked around at the others.
"We need....to...start...working together" he managed between laboured breaths. "I think.....I know....a way."
He looked down from their elevated position and those stil trapped down below. While the battle so far had been mostly blind confusion and panic on his part, he had managed to work out the abilites of some of the others. They could use them to trap and destroy the remaining graboids.
He looked up at Siren and pleaded with her. She was the only one apart from Andromeda that could fly as far as he knew, and the other girl was as tired as he was from the looks of things.
"Can you get the others up here?"
Siren nodded and leapt off the top of the pillar and started to fly towards Luc.
Holly dipped down, snatching at the air below her in the hopes of managing to catch Lydia. Thankfully, the solid black haze was clearing. Or was it her imagination? Nope, it was clearing. Enough of her vision returned for her to see Lydia sinking into the ground. Her brush was nowhere to be found and was a lost cause. It wasn't like it would've done any damage to the graboids, but it felt like a waste.
She zipped down and grasped the other girl's arms, attempting to pull her out. It was easier since she didn't have a brush to hold, but damn all of this sand! Holly tried to get a strong grip, and heaved. Was that an ice pillar over there? If she could just lift Lydia out of the sand and fly over there...
