The Strength Lies Within

Recommended Posts

Bloodvein ignored the others, he just stared blankly down at the police cars, ambulance and fire trucks come to the billowing smoke from the van he crashed. He sighed and stood up heading towards the pipe he crawled up,

"Lets find the forest..."

Then he slid down and walked up to the edge of the alleyway.

Alshain nudged Taldaer again. 'You have to come, now, or else you'll be caught!' Hearing an increased amount of activity outside, he was starting to feel more than a bit desperate. The fire from the explosion had rapidly grown and the heat was becoming very noticeable. He stared at the exhausted dragon, trying to wrk out what to do. Finally he grabbed Taldaer's left foreleg in his jaws, trying to avoid biting too hard, and starting attempting to drag Taldaer away from the danger. He too was rapidly losing strength, his thin limbs trembling under the strain of pulling Taldaer.

I...can't... It's... sunrise... Taldaer shook it's head, even this small movement tireing it. It didn't even look up as Taldaer started to move. It's eyes blinked slowly, the sun casting golden light into the sky, lighting up the world. Taldaer could see the fire, the crackling flames edging ever closer to the hatchlings.

Gradlic blinked, quite stunned at the events that just played infront of his eyes. He frowned, then followed Alshain, unsure of what to do or make of this situation.

Tyran noticed Bloodvein moving away with a few other hatchlings following him. Tyran didn't want to go just yet. Ashlain and Taldaer were still down there and the humans were coming en masse. He snorted, unable to decide which way to go and what to do. His tufty tail flicked back and forth, enticing a few younger hatchlings who seemed to be interested in tail chasing. He whipped his tail away and glared at them before turning back.

whiteny watched everything and decided she will help too. she ran down to where taldaer and alaisha and started dragging him up with her claws intact and using wing power, along with her body power. she saw tryran deciding and spoke up. "can't you help us down here! we could use some more strength!". Then she started focusing on pulling taldaer up with alashai.

Tyran snorted and made a strange buzzing noise that lasted for a moment before he jumped down the stairs. He ran from two at a time to leaping over entire sets and just when he thought he must no longer be a neglected he tripped over a metal bar and tumbled down the rest of the way. He shook his head and scrambled up to help Whiteny drag Taldaer and Alshain up the stairs. It was hard work. His thin limbs burned with the strain and he wondered what it must feel like to be dragged over sharp pebbles as they continued.

((Was super-tired after spending all day at the show. That is all. Sorry! :3))

Alshain could start to feel his jaw aching from the strain of pulling, but now with the help of others dragging Taldaer was becoming easier. The activity outside had increased quite a lot and the fire was definitly larger than a few minute's ago. Some of the fire created steam and a whooshing sound was heard outside, so Alshain decided that the humans were putting out the fire.

Which means they would be captured soon.

Alshain dug his heels into the ground, heaving back with all his strength. They were just about at the base of the stairs - now they had to climb them.

Whiteny began flapping her wings for lift and extra wing power. Now the dragons were so close to the stairs, the hard part, was climbing it. To Whiteny it looked like a mountain to climb when trying to carry the neglected up. Whiteny flapped harder and harder.

Tyran stumbled over his own clumsy paws as he tried to avoid stepping in a shallow hole. He cursed under his breath and flapped his weak wings to help drag them along. They were making progress but not enough. The humans were running around some way off, dark silhouettes against gray buildings and light of the fiery fire.

Bloodvein stopped for a moment to see the others following, satisfied he jumped out of the alleyway and started running along the gutter. Several black vans, firetrucks and scientists were moving along the street. A scientist ran past Bloodvein and he ducked down into the gutter.

"I can't believe the rest of them left us here like that" Whitney mumbled still tugging on the neglected. She would think that they all have to cooperate together to get out of here, and they certainly not doing a good job of that. She flapped faster. The humans will be coming soon, and they need to get out of here soon. I hope they all know what they're doing

Alshain had managed to climb onto the first step. He cringed as a human ran past not far off, then started flapping his wings with Whitney. He knew it would be so much easier to just run, but he couldn't just leave this Neglected to its demise. He dug his claws into the steps, hoping he wasn't injuring Taldaer too badly with his teeth. Just as he was about to climb onto another step, a second explosion erupted from the already burning crash site. The resonating boom rattled through his body and even from this distance, he could still feel the wave of heat.

Taldaer watched with guilt. It was it that was slowing them down. It tried to rise onto it's feet, blinking slightly in suprise as it managed to get them under it. Taldaer blinked, crying out. I'm ok! I can move! Taldaer shook itself free from the others, and began making it's way up the stairs, a sudden energy taking over.

whiteny was surprised from taldear's sudden strength. she fell off the first step then regained her balance. whiteny then flew to the top of the stairs, awaiting everyone again. watching the dragon's every move for any more signs of tiredness, but the dragon seems to be fine.

Tyran nearly fell over when Taldaer stood up on slightly shaky legs. He scrambled clumsily up the stairs until he managed to find the passage to the rooftop. From there, he peered around until he spotted Bloodvein and a few of the others; sadly not cooperating and keeping together.

He sighed and whisked around and came down from the rooftop passage to meet Whiteny at the top of the stairs.

Bloodvein, wanting to save himself sprinted off down the street. Several police cars had blocked off the street. A couple policmen had gotten out of their car and started firing bullets at the hatchlings. Bloodvein winced and ran back into the alleyway.

Tyran strained his ears as booming popping noises filled the air. He worried for Bloodvein and the others and tried not to run off. He stood up, turned a few circles, and sat down again. The two below him were slowly making their way up. He stiffened a bit as somebody's thin squeal of fear reached his ears and he whirled around and scrambled back up to the roof. Leaning over the edge he saw humans cornering his fellow hatchlings and shooting shiny objects at them. Wherever the objects hit, a small cloud of smoke roiled up. His spine prickled as he realized his comrades, no matter how uncooperative they were at the moment, could be in danger. He wanted to run downstairs and jump on the humans.

Alshain stepped back in mild surprise when Taldaer suddenly stood up on it's own. His back paw slipped off a step and he fell down to the ground, curling up as the humans started to fire things at him. He saw a few other hatchlings still running around, and gritted his teeth. Get up the stairs and onto the roof NOW! he mentally yelled at them. One seemingly got the message and tore up the stairs to join the others. Alshain wasn't sure wether to move or not - the humans obviously knew he was there, and some of the fired objects were hitting dangerously close. Finally he decided to make a break for it up the stairs. It was hard, as he was already tired from dragging Taldaer and from all the running. He wasn't exactly running up, but more of a fairly fast walk. Another hatchling tore past him, followed by a barrage of bullets. Alshain leant to the side to give the hatchling room to pass, then copped a bullet to his already small wing. He squealed loudly, making the humans look up at him. Panic overtook Alshain and he ran up the rest of the stairs and onto the roof, curling up on a tile and shaking violently.

Bullets started to fly dangerously past his head as Tyran watched the others running for the stairs. The humans rounded the corner with the last few stragglers and fired at them. Tyran hopped out of the way as a hatchling barged up and then another. Soon, they were all streaming for the stairs. Tyran didn't have room to go down to help. He was forced to turn and ran with the mass of hatchlings, all squealing. Finally he got irritated and screeched the annoying noises that he'd always been able to make. "Move move move!" he shrieked. "Hurry they're coming!" he added, hoping to scare the hatchlings into using their last reserves of strength to climb around a cracked door in the hall he hadn't really noticed. The scent of rat was strong, as well as the scent of old musty pigeon nests and grasses and dust. It'd make a good hiding spot if a bit messy. And it was pretty safe as long as the rats didn't swarm out in panic. Tyran turned to see a handful of others hauling themselves slowly and tiredly along. They won't make it! he thought. Already the bullets were thudding into the wood about them. Tyran screamed orders at them, "Hurry up and mover yer sorry tails or you'll have a chance to be free again!" They scrambled faster, just fast enough to get out of some of the bullets' paths. Worry flickered in Tyran's mind.

Suddenly Alshain squealed and bolted past the small safe haven behind the door Tyran was standing in front of and made for the rooftop. Tyran followed, finding him curled up and shaking on a roof tile. He tried to comfort the little dragon by nosing him and making small noises.

exploding noises rang in whiteny's ears and became eye wide in fear. then snapped back into attention when alaisha said to escape to the roofs. she leaped from object to object with the help of her wings. soon enough she was hiding behind the chimney on the roof by all the other dragons. she looked over the edge and watched all the little bouncing bullets.

Tyran sat among the others, metal objects clanging and thumping below. He wanted to run but that would mean leaving the others behind. He tried to sit as still as possible as humans shouted above the noises below. All the hatchlings were crowded together behind whatever debris was on the roof. They were so close together that it wouldn't take long for a human to pick them off. Tyran closed his eyes and hoped that they wouldn't be found.

Alshain had by now managed to get a grip on himself and forced himself to slowly stop shaking. He unfurled his wing and saw a hole right through it. It hurt, but overall he wasn't that fussed about it. He coudn't really use it beforehand either. He ducked as a stray bullet whistled overhead. The humans will kill us if we don't move! he told himself. Then he got an idea. It was simple and maybe not the safest, but it would be no more dangerous than just sitting here.

Everybody, run along the roof. Keep apart from one another, take cover when you can, just minimize your chances of being hit. To te few he couldn't see down stairs, he messaged them: Run up the flight of stairs. The rest of the pack will be running very soon, so come now!
