As the sun began to rise, a ray of light shone into the building, lighting it up with a golden haze. Gradlic opened his eyes as he felt the warmth stroke his skin gently. Sitting up, he looked around at the sleeping hatchlings and yawned. Today was the day. As soon as everyone else woke up, they would plan a route back into the forest to escape.

Alshain opened his eyes and immediatly shut them again at the bright light. It took him a while to adjust to the light and the time - how long had he been asleep? He looked around, seeing other hatchlings sleeping. He stretched and yawned, then noticed for the first time in quite a while the numbered band around his right wrist. The band the humans would use to recognize each hatchling. He chewed it, but it was made out of some strong plastic and he couldn't break it. He yawned again and stood up. He'd go catch something, then work on another escape plan.

Bloodvein got up and stretched. He looked at the sunlight and smiled, he jumped off the small rug and walked past Alshain and Gradlic towards the door. He didnt see anyone awake and he jumped outside hoping no one would follow him.

Gradlic looked at Alshain, then stood up and walked over to a wall, and scratched a brick away, revealing a rat's nest, which had 8 babies in it, weak and furless. Gradlic smiled, then picked them out, one by one, and swallowed them whole. He then went on to catch more rats, killing about five. He ate two, then offered the other three to Alshain.

"Here, i've eaten my fill", he said, then walked off to a dark corner, where he began staring at something.

Alshain fell onto rats and started eating like he'd been starving for a week. In about three minutes he had finished them all, leaving only the fur and and a few bones. He leant back, licking the blood off his face, then looked at Gradlic, who seemed to be staring at nothing. He curiously approached Gradlic.

Gradlic continued staring at the wall, seemingly unaware of Alshain. Gradlic sat like a statue, his red eyes focused on what appears to be a plain wall. He seemed to be staring at something- or moreover, someone...

Bloodvein ran up the pipe into a window of a house. In that house he found a family having breakfast. He stopped dead in his tracks as the lady let off a loud scream and grabbed a newspaper. Bloodvein jumped out the window onto the pipe and ran back down into the allyway. He saw the others staring blankly at a dark corner.

"Whats wrong?"

[RWyvern]

Alshain sat down, his thin tail wrapped around his tiny paws. He coughed in an attempt to catch Gradlic's attention. 'What are you looking at, Gradlic?' He edged closer, trying to work out exactly what Gradlic was staring at.

When Alshain edged closer, it became evident in what Gradlic was staring at. Looking at it from the right angle, there was a long pathway that was pitch black, and had an eerie feel to it. Gradlic continued staring into the pathway, fixed on something inside it.

Bloodvein growled quietly at Gradlic,

"What are you looking at!?!?"

Then suddenly he saw it too, an almost pitch black tunnel with a pathway inside. He was shocked at first, but continued staring.

Alshain's curiosity got the better of him and he stepped forward into the tunnel. Edging in, he gradually grew more and more unsettled. Even at just a few steps in he wanted to run back out. But at the same time part of him was telling him to go further. He stood there, unsure of what to do.

Gradlic gasped.

"Alshain, get back here!", Gradlic wheezed, staring back into the darkness. A few feet infront of Alshain, a swirl of dust rose up, which quickly formed into the shape of a dragon that looked sickly. It was huge, and began running toward Alshain, making a distant roaring sound.

Bloodvein roared back at the quickly approaching dragon, it kept running and just roared even louder. Bloodvein growled and started running,

"RUN! Follow me!"

He ran up the pipe again except this time most of the hatchlings were following. He jumped through the window. The family was about to attack them but once they saw how many there were they ran. He heard a bang as the front door closed, he then jumped inside and onto the table.

Alshain stared at the dragon, his heart pounding. He stood frozen for a few seconds, then started stumbling back. Another roar from the dragon freaked him out and he turned tail, running out as fast as his thin legs could carry him. Once out of the tunnel, he stopped next to Gradlic and turned around, staring at the dragon. He heard Bloodvein yell out and saw out of the corner of his eye him and saw most of the hatchlings following. He wanted to go after them, but decided to stay and confront this strange dragon, as much as it scared him.

A soon as the dragon hit sunlight, it exploded, and dust gently floated down to the ground, where it settled once more. Gradlic looked at the pile of dust that was once a dragon. He had seen the monster before, and it had scared the life out of him. He also knew what it did if you stayed in there for too long...

Bloodvein and the other dragons saw the untouched breakfast of the humans. He licked his lips and started eating the toast. Within minutes all food in the house had been eating. Bloodvein had managed to grab a box of food wich he dragged back down to the others who didnt seem to flee. He dropped the box and ripped a hole in it for them.

"Wheres the dragon? All the others are staying in the other house now."

[RWyvern]

Alshain stepped back. 'What was that?' he asked breathlessly. He leant forward and carefully sniffed at the dust. 'We had better go find the other dragons...' He turned to Bloodvein. 'The dragon...dissapeared into a pile of dust...' He gently blew the dust. 'Where did you lead the other hatchlings? They'd better be somewhere safe.'

Bloodvein laughed,

"Dust, thats a good one! The others are feasting on some humans food. Oh and the humans ran off, screaming."

He ran back out the door and into the house, he heard a loud banging sound near the door. Suddenly scientists filled the doorway.

Uh oh, Bloodvein thought.

"RUN!"

The hatchlings and he ran out the window towards the others, some hatchlings were grabbed by humans and injected with a needle putting them to sleep.

Summary: We all escaped, ran across the road into a house, we ate all the rats for dinner. Then a magic pathway appeared with a dragon that turned to dust once it saw daylight. Bloodvein and the other hatchlings invaded a home and then the scientists came. Hatchies were re-captured, but about 9/10 of them made it out. The others were put to sleep, then in cages and carried away. Bloodvein and the others went into the allyway (where pathway of magic was ) and thats where we are now!
