The little ice hatchling quickly jumped off of Nemura and smiled nervously. ^^; "Sorry, Nemura. I didn't know what else to do!" She trotted over and stared down at the curious object. What was it? And why had the human shoved it down the poor hatchling's throat?

((AHHHH you guys post fast!!!))

When Violet woke up, she was back in the cave, in her nest. Numara was safe too. Well at least I wasn't hurt for nothing...she thought, winching. Her side ached badly, and her throat was very, very dry. "W-water..." she croaked, lifting her head weakly.

Water? she thought, hearing a small voice. Scooping up as much moss and she could possibly managed, she tripped and stumbled over to a crystal-like clear puddle. Bending over carefully, she dipped the moss in and let it soak. Then, she folded it up without squeezing the water out and placed it in her mouth with care. Azalea then trotted back to the cave, paws leaving little prints on the stone. "Did someone want water?" she asked, setting the sodden moss down. She noticed a tired-looking hatchling in the back of the cave and picked up her moss. "Hef-wo?" she asked, forgetting to set the moss down. Quickly realizing this, she dropped the dripping green ball and cleared her throat. "Sorry," said Azalea apologetically. "Were you the one that wanted water?" She pushed the moss towards Violet in an attempt to get her to realize that it was almost a gift of sorts. A favor, perhaps. Yes, just a small favor for her little family. Family.... Yes. A family. Her family. She glanced down at the moss, and made a gesture with her paw to show that she meant for Violet to take it. Assuming she got the message, Azalea shook out her mane and tail fur, then carefully picked her way up a series of tiny ledges. When she was rather high up, she began to hum a little song that she had heard from inside her egg that her parents used to sing. What were the words, though? Oh yes, it went a little like this:

Tam libere infra aquam fragor spectator~

Lorem lenis elit cadendi nix~

Lucet et splendet et liberas pulchra~

Lorem ipsum dolor dilecto ~

Nemo scit quid futurum teneat~

Sed fortis et felix, fortis et audax ~

Non potest dicere, ius ~

Postera autem die educam alia specialis ~

It reminded her of happy, peaceful times when she was in her egg. She continued to hum, dancing around a little with her head bobbing side to side and her tail swishing back and forth.

Tyra, the little ice hatchling, was still trying to figure out what Nemura had coughed up. She sat down and tilted her head this way and that cutely, trying to determine what it was. Her ears caught wind of the little tune Alzalea started humming. The song made her smile and feel happy. She soon was swaying back in forth to the music.

Violet happily drained the moss of it's moisture. Burping quietly, she said, "Thank you," before resting her head on the side of the nest to listen to the song.

Sprigg gagged at the saccharine quality of it all and made a break for the entrance of the cave. He zipped right out of there and scampered up a nearby tree in an effort to escape the sappy situation.

"How cute," he sneered snidely to himself. "And how useless. Instead of spending their time hunting or actually learning anything they just sit around and waste time."

The pygmy grumbled to himself as he hopped to another branch. "They can't even take care of themselves like they should be able to. I mean, honestly, what were they thinking when they started a fight with those humans. They've got no clue what they're doing, or what to do. I've never seen such... stupidity."

"Your parents left you," he wanted to scream. "They left you because they already knew just how useless you'd be! They left because they didn't want you!"

Tyra frowned, having heard Sprigg's thoughts since Dragons can communicate with each other through thought. Angry, she charged out after him and climbed up the tree after him with her claws. "Y-you self-centered JERK!!" she shouted, "You wouldn't know what it's like to wake up and not have a mother or father there to greet you!! It's lonely, frightening, and heartbreaking!" Taking a deep breath, she continued, as frosty tears began forming in the little ice hatchling's eyes, "All we have is each other! We're FAMILY! And that's what families do, love and protect one another!!! Just because we're not out hunting, or-or foraging doesn't mean we're useless! If you can't understand love, o-or family, then YOU'RE the useless one!" Bursting into sobs, she slid down the tree, using her claws, and disappeared into the dense foilage of the forest. She didn't understand where her words came from or how she knew what to say, all she knew was that she felt scared and alone.

((OH Yea!!! xd.png))

Violet could only growl at Sprigg's thoughts. He was a total jerk. If she wasn't injured, she would have rippped out his tongue to keep him from being so rude and mean. Her side itched badly, and she twisted around and started licking the wound to clean and soothe it. Not that she knew it, but dragon saliva helped heal wounds and protect from infection.

Azalea froze, all happiness of her song and dancing about gone. She let out a small growl. "Just because YOU don't know how to have a little bit of fun doesn't mean I'm useless," she growled angrily. Hoping down from the ledge carefully so she wouldn't fall, she sprang off the last rock and hit the ground clumsily. She shook the dirt out of her silvery scales and glared out into the woods. Well, SORRY that I can't be out every second of my life foraging. she thought sharply, projecting the message to Sprigg.

Sprigg simply rolled his eyes and fluttered up to a higher branch. Goodness, these children were annoying. For some reason the fates had cruelly decided he would be their watcher, despite how poorly he tolerated laziness and wastes of time.

After a few moments of contemplation the pygmy drake drifted languidly after Tyra; at the very least he needed to make sure she didn't crawl into a badger hole or get eaten by a lynx.

"No. Stop," he called out without enthusiasm. "Wait. Don't go."

Alpida hesitated. hatchlings got away. she roared, warnuing these things to stay away. the humans backed up. she too, retreated. she knew she could faint any moment. already she was feeling dizzy. Thank god, creatures didn't follow her. Alipida made it all the way to the cave, stumbling.

Tyra just kept running until her little blue paws became sore and she couldn't run any farther. Half crying, half sniffling, the ice hatchling limped pitifully to a small river she came across. She couldn't believe how inconsiderate that pygmy was. She winced, dipping her painfully sore paws into the fresh, cool water. Large, cold tears fell from her indigo cheeks into the slow running stream. She was hungry; she missed her momma and papa.

"Ehhh," Sprigg sighed as he finally caught sight of Tyra. "If you fall in you'll probably drown."

He plopped down beside her and rustled his wings with a grunt and braced himself for yet another outburst.

((Oh, hey guys if you get a chance. I'd appreciate it if you'd check out my Artwork Thread and give me your opinions. ^^ I only have one thing up right now but I'll post more later.))

Tyra gasped, seeing the unruly Pygmy sit down beside her. However, instead of yelling at him, she turned away and sniffled, still keeping her sore paws under the water. She was very quiet as she tried to keep back the flood of tears that threatened to overflow her violet eyes.

I would! But Tyra's out in the forest right now, so she didn't notice yet. D8

The pygmy sighed again as the anticipated explosion failed to happened. He flicked his tail and shrugged. "Fine, if you won't talk," he hummed as he he narrowed his throughts down to just Tyra and ignored the others raging at him.

"I don't know what it's like, but I have a decent idea. You see, I didn't always live out here. In fact," he chuckled ruefully. "I once had a human. Nice guy, actually. He tried really hard to take care of me."

Sprigg leaned against Tyra and bumped her with his shoulder. "Unfortunately, I came from a nice, comfortable home to here. I understand how unforgiving this place is."

((Sprigg's not one for taking care of mortal wounds. He'll keep an eye on the hatchlings, but that's about it.))

Tyra sniffed again and rubbed her eye with the back of her paw as she turned to look at Sprigg. "...R-really...?" she asked quietly, her voice barely audible.

Sprigg nodded and rolled his tiny shoulders. "Mhm. All I'm trying to do is make sure the lot of you don't die. Y'know? This place isn't easy. You've got a good start, but we can't just let it all slip away."

He flashed the ice dragon a toothy grin and nudged her again. "So buck up, yeah?"

The ice hatchling nodded and rubbed her eyes again, standing up. "O-ok, I'll try... I'm sorry you lost your human friend..." she told him, her violet eyes showing that she was sincere.

The pygmy dragon nodded once more and pranced away. Within seconds he was galloping, and he snapped his wings out and powered his way up into the air.

Unfortunately, his shoulders and wings were on fire. He'd flown far too much today, and all of it without rest. His stomach grumbled, but he ignored it as he alighted in a tree to take a well-deserved nap. With luck, the other hatchlings would leave him alone.

Tyra slowly began to limp back to the cave, her paws still very sore. She winced as she made her way through the dense foilage. Finally, Tyra made it back to the cave. She crawled into her nest and curled up. She gingerly licked her sore paws for a little while then fell asleep.
