New Stun BSA

Recommended Posts

I didn't read the whole thread, just the description of the BSA. I don't trade much, so my mind immediately went to giving a hatchling extra time if it was about to die with lack of views needed.

What was Expunge? I don't remember that.

Won't work for that, because you only gain 1 day but can't get views for 2. It'd still die.

And honestly.... Unless the hatchie is under 2 hrs to *die*, it can be saved very quickly in the ERs.

Cheers!

C4.

It's not dimorphism, and I'm pretty sure that a dragon that's cooling down from stun gets lightning around it, as shown in the below picture.

I am a little curious from an RP/lore perspective for Birdz on the BSA... Like is it just a temporary magical/biological thing, or does it actually cause the hatchling some discomfort? Or maybe a bit but nothing long lasting. I'm curious if hatchlings that have this happen to them if they are a bit woozy or miffed or if it might cause a hatchling to be a bit more sensitive to the Keeper/Owner to them into adulthood. Or maybe it's awesome and euphoric and they are more inclined to want the "Freeze" to remain hatchlings and may resent "growing up." Maybe it just depends.

I'm more curious not to ask a bunch of questions, but for the people who like to write dragon descriptions if they want to use the fact that this BSA was used on a hatchling they write a descrip about if it does or doesn't impact their personality. Or is it something that wouldn't unless the writer wants to make it so, or would it have already just been part of the dragon's personality and this wouldn't have made a deciding factor and these notions already existed before the "stun". (Like the dragon was especially grumpy about any effects it felt were "non natural" even though it may be completely natural like). And so the writer can talk about it, but it's the writer choosing to mention it but not so much the effect of the BSA.

If this is the wrong place for a question like this, lemme know and I'll kick it elsewhere.

Awh. I'm sorry for not seeing this post sooner so pardon me if you've already asked elsewhere...

I'd like to think that Stun would cause a little bit of discomfort (after all, getting zapped in real life isn't exactly a lovely experience, haha), but nothing major or long-lasting. Probably a feeling along the lines of when you get zapped by a static charge-- it's startling, but not exactly an incredibly painful experience-- followed by a tingling feeling for a little while, like when your leg or arm goes to sleep, or something. And then it would wear off.

Some breeds probably would get a little miffed at their owners after it, but I think that's more dependent on the personality of the dragon/breed it's being used on than the actual Stun action itself.

Okay ..so I remember someone was asking about this before and here is an experiment. I used stun on this silver when it was already gendered and had couple of hours to grow up. Now it's ER but it's stun no view period (2 days) hasn't worn off yet. It has more than enough views but it seems it won't grow up till the period wears off. So going by this the answer is no the hatchlings won't grow up after hitting 4 day mark if the no view period hasn't worn off. (More people need to test it to make it a fact though) So I suppose this is problematic for lowtime hatchlings even if they have enough views.

The cooldown sprite is really awesome! I have got three of those at the moment. biggrin.gif

I've also got a test hatchie up, it's at 2D20 and I am allowed to stun it, but I'm waiting for it to go under 2 days.

Can anyone tell me how long this effect lasts after you use Stun? I don't have any hatchies that I want to try it on right now! wink.gif

Stunned one right now to find out, my action log says it was at 05:34 pm. Heading to bed now, though, feel free to stalk the bolt dragon.

Idk if this has been reported yet, but I can now absolutely say that things can gender while stunned.

Not really that important, I just thought it was interesting.

To be honest, i didn't read anything in this thread just want to let you know what i think:

I assume the crackling electricity around the adult Bolts after using the Stun action wil remain until the cooldown is off and the action ready again.

Oh, i found the date and time for my first stun: Jul 19, 2016, 09:38 am from this Bolt.

I link that Bolt Dragon here for confirmation: https://dragcave.net/lineage/OLgBM

I agree. I used Stun on the 17th at 9:39pm and she's still sparking.

Speaking as someone who keeps forgetting to use the "Filter by Available BSA" option, I like the idea of a visual indication of whether or not it's available. I just wish it applied to the BSAs I use all the time (incubate and influence)

If I stun a 6d hatchie and it becomes 7d, does it also become vulnerable to sickness again?

Also, did anyone try Stunning a <1d hatchling? That would be interesting (<1d + 1 day from Stun = <2d. Then no views for 2 days = ... it dies?). Can't test that myself because I lack the finesse to get a hatchie to <1d (mine grow up at <3 at the latest).

I would say that making it seven days or more (and mine gained hours beyond seven days, even) could possibly make ot sick, but it's balanced out by not gaining views for two days even if you wanted it to.

Meh, maybe it would die but I think this is a BSA we have to use with some common sense--only stun things older than 4d. If we're even allowed to stun things so young; I really think there should be a limit on that, like there is on the Red and Pink BSAs if there isn't already, but that's just me.

Incubating an egg doesn't make it less vulnerable to sickness because sickness seems more based on how long a creature has been alive than its age, so I would hazard a guess that stunning a hatchling shouldn't make it more vulnerable to sickness than before.

Umm.. I see a changed sprite? xd.png Maybe try viewing in another theme?

I'm confused. Are you saying there's no sparks or there are sparks? I think Cheekadee was saying that even though the Bolt is cooled down, there are still sparks around the Bolt.

user posted image <-- So sparky!

I actually came to this thread to say that I used Stun for the first time today. Someone from my giveaway couldn't collect a hatchie in time, so I stunned it for them before it grew up. I guess I found another reason besides trading that Stun is useful. Gifting/Raffling and stuff like that gives it a use.

What I understood was cheekadee was saying bolt is on cooldown after using stun (action page screen shot) but sprite hasn't updated to electric sparks one which should have happened. And I replied it did update because I see a electric spark sprite for the Dragon link posted. smile.gif

Stun is very useful in preventing sickness of high value trade too. Stun your ND/2g prize etc and post it wherever you like. Sure it's only for two days but it is still plenty of time as per my experience.

This is also how I read it.

EDIT: Poked TJ about it since I'm not sure what the intended behavior is supposed to be.

I wasn't here during cheekadee's original posting, so I wasn't sure of her post intentions. I read it more as the fact that the Bolt had sparks even though it was cooled off. Everyone interprets stuff differently, I suppose. Maybe cheekadee can elaborate us on what they meant? :3

I agree. I see far too many Hatchlings being thrown into Hatcheries by "helpful" people. NDs and 2nd Gen Prizes are most susceptible to such behavior. Heck, any tradeable Hatchling is a good fit.

Maybe this new Stun BSA will help stop View Bombers? ohmy.gifSTUN ALL THE HATCHLINGS!

Thanks for poking TJ! I'm sure we all could use some enlightenment.
