Well, in the Warrior Cats series, dead loved ones ought to be fairly common, so I don't take much issue with that. A few of the characters on my list have lost family members, in fact. I don't like how often that "half-clan" stuff shows up, though. (Or Medicine Cat romances, for that matter.) I know it can be fun to write a star-crossed lovers story, but it's not the only romance that can be interesting.

I guess when I do get around to writing my own Warriors story, I'll have to focus on refining these characters beyond the simple concepts that they are, and try to put them in a unique, interesting situation. I'll review the cliches that were mentioned in these posts and try to avoid them, too. I never really was in to the whole "powers" thing, anyway.

I don't think it's BAD that cats lose family members, or StarClan cats and stuff, or have romance. I just wish that we could see a basically normal cat do some awesome stuff. Even though Firestar is a bit of a mary-sue, "the entire plot shall always revolve around me and my perfection" kind of cat, I kinda like how he's just...normal. (: He was a kittypet, became a warrior, delt with some interesting and fairly realistic struggles, stuff like that. I guess Brambleclaw is pretty normal (until recently, with all the Squirrelflight drama and the you-know-what in Bramblestar's Storm), or at least WAS fairly normal and interesting back in New Prophecy.

But then we have the Three, the entire plot revolves around dead cats...bleh.

But, that's just my two cents. I've always liked the first series best, so...although I will admit that Power of Three had some epic plot twists. X3 And honestly, I'm cool with some mild powers, like Jayfeather's, but Lionblaze and Dovewing are waaaaaaay too overpowered. It's really stupid. Lionblaze literally has no development or personality really. I guess choosing to leave Heatherpaw was nice, and trying to get away from Tigerstar, but otherwise...ugh. X|

And for those who have read Yellowfang's Secret, they even gave Yellowfang powers whyyyy, why no logical explanation uurgh!

Although, I have to admit...I really love all the super editions. Besides maybe SkyClan's Destiny.

I can't wait to read your fanfic!!

Yellowfang's secret had the awesome bonding with Brokentail, though! But yeah, the power was such a lame excuse to make her a medicine cat.

Tallstar's Revenge all the way, though. It rocks.

Honestly, I wish Dawn if the Clans was about some natural disaster after OotS. It's be so much better and so much not a ripoff of The Great Prophecy.

I know, and..is it just me, or is Raggedpelt/Raggedstar just the sexiest name ever? xd.png Like, seriously, every time I read that name I'm like HE SOUNDS SO BADASS.

But I totally hate how he practically ran off with stupid Foxheart! It's like he didn't care about everything Yellowfang had been through, and didn't care/know that she still loved him. I HATED THAT so much! And Foxheart just SUCKS. But the Brokentail stuff was really interesting, seeing him as a kit and watching how he became what he did. I was biting back tears throughout the entire book, it was so sad. But the powers...that was really lame.

Tallstar's Revenge may be the best book in the series. All the other Super Editions just made you sad, but Tallstar's revenge...goodness! It makes you feel, but it's a variety of strong feels. It's hard to pick anything that I didn't like about that book. And getting a glimpse into WindClan was great. And seriously, it was great how Tallstar was totally ABOUT TO KILL SPARROW!! If it was practically any other "good" cat in the series, they would have probably decided it was wrong. Like Brambleclaw obviously wasn't going to kill Firestar. His indecision lasted three seconds. And we know the Erins would never kill Firestar that way, and we knew that Bramble was too good to do that. Also, that was sprung onto Bramble. Tallstar not only PLANNED it in advance, but was TOTALLY ABOUT TO DO IT. Tallstar is a really awesome character. God, I love that book.

That would be awesome! I haven't read Dawn of the Clans. I read some stuff about the characters, and it basically seems like the books are mostly about cats having a lot of mates. X3 I read the prologue, saw Half Moon, and flipped out. But that was like the highlight of the few chapters I managed to read at the bookstore.

I can't agree more, I hate Foxheart so much for being such a brat and chasing Raggedstar and being so cold to Yellowfang. That book made Yellowfang one of my fav. characters.

I haven't read Tallstar's Revenge yet, but I've heard way too many good things about, so I'm going to have to read it. x3

I always did believe that that's what Warriors should have always been about. Normal cats doing great things. StarClan is cool and stuff, and prophecies are okay, but... It's all about the currently living cats. X3

I agree that Firestar is a Sue. Way back I used to argue that he wasn't, but as I grew up and learned a little bit more about the nuances of writing characters, I realized that I was wrong. Too many perfections, not enough flaws...

And thanks! It'll probably take a long time, since I have a ton of characters to write for. It'll probably be a collection of different stories that merge into one big picture, since I want to shine the spotlight on ALL of the cats. X,D StarClan help me...

I didn't like Yellowfang's secret too much, actually. Ragged's reactions were kinda really bad, as in they dint make any sense. I mean, he could have just been wanting a kit, but that clearly wasn't his attention. It was like the Erin's were going "There's not enough sad stuff, so let's make it sadder! Yay for for whiny sob stories making our books sell!"

Brokenkit and Brokenpaw were adorable, though, and quite well done.

Foxheart... Eh, I didn't care out her. She was just kinda there, for me.

Although, I really wish they would stop giving good guys cool names and bad guys names that just said they were bad. Gah.

Ah, Warriors. My first fandom. I loved this series so much...now I can't help but notice all the flaws, inconsistencies, and irritating characters. tongue.gif However, I still write fanfiction for Warriors (for sentimental reasons, as well as that being where my tiny fanbase lives).

Yeah, at least it's still pretty entertaining if you decide to read mindlessly.

Say, could you link some do your fanfictions?

Oh cool! You have so many fanfics though, I doubt I'll be able to read all of them. I glanced through a few though, and the quality seems pretty satisfying. The Warriors fandom's writers are generally terrible, especially in FF.net. And then you get raged at for offering suggestions or writing a review that doesn't include anything like "awesome, can't wait for more". dry.gif

I actually have a warriors fanfiction too, but it's like three chapters in and I'm super lazy. tongue.gif

Haha, thanks for taking the time even to glance through. tongue.gif

I agree, most Warriors fanfics on FFN are really bad. When I leave concrit I always put a warning at the top that no, I'm not trying to hurt your feelings, I'm trying to help. Usually I don't get a response. :/ I just try to help the fandom along as much as I can, by giving advice and uploading my own stories.

Yes, Warriors fics are usually quite terrible. XP

I'll make sure to read some of yours!

And then sometimes, people mock the fandom with trollfics like "Starkit's Destiny" or something like that and the community doesn't even realize that they're the sucky writers, not the troll. So annoying. It takes intention to make that many mistakes.

Maybe we should do a collab story. Or a collab trollfic. Or probably none.

I would love to do a colllab fic.

I'll read those, Mia. ^^

Those are some nice Fanfics! ^.^

Here's some of mine (I wrote them some time ago):

The Cat of the Savannah

and The Smallest Wolf

... Here's more, more of a list with links, but these are more mature, I think. My longest one is Sunstar's Pride, which is on going and very mature.

Neat! I read the savannah one and it doesn't really remind me of Warriors, though. :c it's still really cool! Just a suggestion, I think your chapters could stand to be a bit longer. Usually, I have around 2000 words each. :3

That one was a short story, just to sum up the life of one of my kittypet characters. Some are about my loners too, but Sunstar's Pride is my longest, as it is still on going, and I expect to have to make another page or two again, so it doesn't lag out because of too many words.

Oh, haven't read Sunstar's Pride yet. Gonna go read it soon, it sounds kind of like a Super addition and I love your writing. X)

It's mature, just to warn you. X3 Also, I need to review it, I just type and type, and review once I'm finished.

OMG I LOVE WARRIORS!!!!!! I think Erin Hunter is getting a bit stupid though...

I love the Warrior's series as well, and I'm currently into the third story arc, however I don't think she's gone stupid, more like prone to making mistakes. There were a few times throughout the series where I have noticed mistakes made by both her and her editor.

For example, there was a scene with Mothwing and Leafpool and when speaking of Leafpool she instead wrote Leafpaw and it wasn't referring to a flashback. There were others mistakes as well including more than once when she addressed Firestar as Fireheart.

I love the first story arc, the second one was sad, but okay. I'm in the middle of the third one, however I'm curious about the one cat that Brambleclaw can't trust. I thought I knew who it was, but he seems to be fine in the third arc so far. So now I'm not sure who he can't trust.

I don't know what's in store for the third arc as I'm currently almost in the middle of the second book "Dark River" and it's okay so far. The first story arc is still better.

I know she has two other series called Seekers and Survivors, but I really don't have any interest in reading those. :/

I love the Warriors series! I finished reading the series several months ago. I still have to read some of the super editions though, since I've only read Firestar's Quest. I did get Bramblestar's Storm from the library on Sunday, and am excited to read it! smile.gif I would also like to read the manga. I've read most of the Ravenpaw one (I forget if I finished that manga or not.) I'd also like to start reading Dawn of the Clans, the plot seems pretty interesting, and it would be nice to know how the Clans formed. I'd have to say the Warriors series is probably the best series I've ever read. The characters are all so interesting and they have so many different personalities. I'm probably going to start reading the series all over again some day, though I won't feel the same suspense and excitement as I did while reading it the first time. It's an amazing series, though, and you should read it when you have the chance!
