I think I got very lucky here. This was my first attempt too. Started with 6 shumoga and 1 canto egg, all cb, all slightly under 5 days left (2 at 4d19h, rest at 4d23h) with big holes, around 2700/400 v/uv.

 

First quake: 2 hatched and caught (1 shumoga, 1 canto), rest unaffected

Second quake: 2 more hatched and caught, rest unaffected

Third quake: all unaffected

Fourth quake: all hatched, 2 caught 1 fled.

So final result: 6 hatched and caught, 1 fled

Thank you for this! Saved me from going to the tiny little questions thread. I just caught a Canto and I want to try to get the motus, I’m thinking about waiting until all my other eggs hatch before I try earthquaking

earthquake only affects eggs right? It doesn’t affect already hatched hatchlings?

No, it doesn't affect hatchlings.

 

Currently trying my first attempt using Earthquake.  Caught four shumoga over a 24-48 hour period.  The first is now at 3 days 22 hours, views 1234/372/16, with a stage 5 hole and I've hidden it.  The second also has a stage 5 hole and is hidden.  It's time is on 4 days 19 hours, views 2326/456/15.  Then I have 2  that I have incubated to bring to similar times.  They're on 4 days 17 hours 2049/423/5 and 4 days 18 hours 2041/414/7 (due to the incubate).  Only have the first crack and every time that I put them into a hatchery, they promptly go sick on me.  I don't want to Ward them until I'm ready to EQ. So I just keep pulling them back out of the hatchery and hiding them.  It's now 11.30 pm here in the UK and I was really hoping to have this done hours ago!

 

My plan was to take everything out of hatcheries, ward and hide before EQing, but this is taking forever.  Any advice welcome.

First Earthquake attempt ever - got four Cantos and specifically waited until they're the only eggs on my scroll. I'm pretty happy with the results, since I fully expected like half of them to die.

Wow, that is some really bad luck I guess. Sorry to hear that.

 

In my own experiences eggs with big holes (aka crack stage 5) have a higher tendency to die than to hatch. I had my best results with eggs at crack stage 2 and between 4-5 days left. Maybe try this out next time?

Interesting, maybe I'll give that a go next time. I've had pretty decent luck using earthquake previously at stage 5, so maybe I was just very unlucky this time. I guess more science is required.

Maybe it's a scroll thing. Like some people breed one Staterae after another while mine give only one a year

Didn't plan to use earthquake on these two until a few minutes ago when I realized that with my recently hatched dragons, these two Canto eggs are the only eggs on my scroll at this moment. So I decided to give it a try. Both were 5d+, OV 1700+, UV 500-, with stage 5 crack.

I incubated them to 4d+, forgot to ward them, though I don't know if that makes any difference. Survival rate 1/2.

This sounds like a great idea! I just made a form and I will be inputing some of the responses in this thread (maybe from prior to 2023, so that people can have a chance to try this themselves for results in 2023?)

I also found that Tini mentioned a googledoc on page 7 when they purposed this form, not sure if it lasted?

Tried on 1/4.  Maybe keep them S0 until nearly hatch before earthquake is a good way too? not sure if it's easier to unaffected. （But not be apply to Shumoga, they need earthquaked and hatch.）🤔
