Sandor desummoned his fiend, then looked at the monster. He studied it closely, thinking of what element it was going to be. Hellos guessed it was ice, but Sandor suspected it was a different element. All that fluff would be very good for something...

Then he noticed someone walk onto the training field. Probably a student, but he could be a teacher. He seemed somewhat familiar, but he wasn't compleatly sure where he had seen this person before. When he thought about it, he knew he had seen him somewhere.

Well Helios was waiting for an answer for Diana he saw Sandor look over at something behind him. Turnign round he saw a man standing on the grass by the training area gate. It took him a moment to place the stranger, but when he did he felt a huge surge of relief.

"It's the guy from the hospital!" he exclaimed. "The Summoner that went missing!"

Had he walked straight here from the doctor's? It wasn't a long trek. And surely someone would have spotted him while they searched. He must have gone somewhere else first. Helios wondered where he had been.

Bastian followed Arthur silently; only peeking out from under his hood now and then making sure no one would suspect them. When they reached the high priests quarters Bastian stepped in and closed the door slowly causing it to barely make a sound.

He then nodded to Arthur letting him know it was all clear.

"Could it be a water element?" Sorana asked after one of the boys (she hadn't introduced herself to everyone yet nor learned of everyone else's name except Sandor's) suggested ice. However, the more she thought about it, the less likely it seemed that the creature would be of water. After all, wouldn't a water creature be more sleek or scaly instead of fluffy? The thick fur would only get in the way when wet, right?

She shook her head, drawing a blank on what the creature could possibly be called. Sandor's movement caught her attention at the same time as the boy who had spoken before her. When he exclaimed about the new arrival being the missing Summoner, Sorana's eyes widened faintly. "You don't suppose he needs help, do you?" she remarked quietly, uncertain of how to react.

Atani eyed the newcomer, taking in his disheveled appearance. He looked as if he might have been through a bit and didn't have the time to look himself in the mirror. This made her smirk. He went through whatever and still came to the school. Either he was determined or just an idiot. But, that was making assumptions.

Oh well. She didn't care if she was assuming the wrong things. To be fair, having a new arrival - a formerly missing person on top of that - added in a faint touch of spice and interest to an otherwise boring event.

Narvix, I regret to inform you that some of your links are not working.))

Castian heard one of the kids shouting, and his coffee-brown irises shot toward the source of the voice. A single brow crooked, and he unconsciously ran a hand back through his hair in attempt to bring some order to his life. Did he know the boy? His voice certainly seemed familiar.

He was still in the stolen clothing,—the shirt a little too big and the pants a tad tight though they flattered his slim form—and it was not until he caught one of the students staring at him judgmentally that he realized the fabric was wrinkled from his long ride. It was of little matter though, he was here now. He would worry of his appearance later, and he would have to go into town to acquire more clothing. Everything but his small purse, a few documents, and his I.D. had been left behind in the fight for his life.

The man sauntered forward, the ache in his chest nothing more than a dull throbbing now, but still enough to make him flinch inwardly. How desperately he wished to disappear to the pub in town, or to the infirmary to find some relief, but that would not be proper now. He needed to know what was required of him before he gallivanted off. For all he knew, his parents had warned the school that if he did not behave, they should tell his father and he would be disowned. He was walking on a very thin line now, and how fun that could be.

((Sorry for not posting recently, Christmas and New Years had me busy D: ))

Wes suppressed a yawn as the wagon came to a halt at their destination. The ride was safe and did not take any loner than he anticipated. Without a word, the boy he escorted slipped away, flashing a brief smile and bow before he disappeared toward the school. Wes rose to his feet, knees and back cracking as he did so, his muscles feeling stiff after sitting for so long. He started to dismount the wagon and caught a glance of the driver, who has their eyebrows raised in curiosity.

"Just...going to pay the school a visit." he grunted as the driver rolled their eyes.

As he marched toward the eerily familiar gates, he couldn't help but feel nervous and maybe even a little excited. The place brought back so many memories, and he hoped it hadn't changed much from when he was just a student. He had changed, however, and grown into a mature, disciplined adult in contrast to the troublemaking teen he was when he arrived here last time. He cleared his throat before pushing open the gates and slowly walking through the entrance.

Arthur reached up to pull down his hood. The priest would propably be able to tell that neither he nor Bastian were real acolytes right away, so there would be little point in trying to fool him.

"Your Eminence, may we have a moment of your time?"

The High Priest appeared to realise that he did not recognise the voice and so stood up and turned around quite quickly. Seeing Arthur and Bastain his eyes narrowed with suspicion.

"Who are you? How did you get in here?"

Arthur reached into the robes and pulled out his worn Investigator's badge.

"I am conducting an investigation into the murder of a Summoner. Due to the circumstances I'd like to make any progress we make secret, hence the disguises."

"Okay" said the High Priest checking the badge but still sounding wary. "But why have you come to me? I know nothing of a murder."

"Can you tell us anything about a god called Upmejeuh?"

The High Priest gasped and stepped back.

"Do not utter that name here!"

“Why not?” Bastian asked after pulling of his own hood. “Why is it that no one have really heard of this god?”

The High Priest drew himself up, as though he had been insulted personally.

"That....creature....is the enemy of our lady goddess Vundiha. Even to utter their name within these sacred halls is an affront."

"Why? What did they do? I thought the gods were siblings?" asked Arthur.

The High Priest looked a little wrong footed but he managed to rally himself quite quickly.

"Most of the divines were content to allow humans to live as they would. However, one of them..."

He glared at Bastain and Arthur as though warning them not to mention Upmejeuh by name.

"...went against the decrees of the others and sent a curse upon these lands. As a result of the destruction Vundiha was forced to intervene to save us. Their punishment was ostracisation. They were rejected by the other gods and forced to wander alone."

“So this god is responsible for the monster then?” Bastian asked folding his arms. “And why would this god be so against us?”

The High Priest sighed and shook his head. Turning his back on the two Summoners he went across the room to a small ornate cupboard and gently pulled open the door. Reaching inside he carefully pulled out something wrapped in a fine red silk cloth and then carried it to a nearby table. Arthur went to go and stand beside him and watched as the High Priest pulled the cloth away to reveal a heavy leather book decorated with thin swirls of silver. It looked very old and worn.

"This book contains records kept by priests from over a thousand years ago, back when the land was first cursed."

The High Priest opened the book and Arthur could see many strange symbols. He had to assume it was some kind of writing, but he could not read the text.

"According to this, a Priest of the time had a vision foretelling the arrival of the monsters. It was believed that the Gods, or at least one of them, had grown weary of humanity's ways and decided to wipe the land clean and start afresh. It is said there is a monster for every living human soul, whose sole purpose is to claim it. If a monster is slain before it kills its mark, it is reborn again and again until it succeeds."

“Wait so you are saying that we will never really get rid of these things? Only after they killed the entire human race?”

Bastian thought for a bit but wasn’t sure if that could be true. How were they supposed to win this long battle if they were only going to get reborn every time? But what bothered Bastian were still these killings on summoners. What has it to do with this god and them?

The High Priest turned to look at Bastain.

"Sadly, that is probably correct. As long as humans exist, so will monsters. As you can imagine it is not something that is discussed often. People like to hope for a reprieve."

"And what of this god that sent them? They were ostracised as well?"

"Well, yes. They broke the laws of the divines after all."

Arthur began to think over what they had learned so far. So this Upmejeuh was responsible for the monsters after all. And it didn't sound like they were planning undoing the curse either.

The High Priest wrapped the book back up in its silk cloth and carried it back to the ornate cupboard where it was kept. Arthur watched and noticed something. The cupboard had two shelves.

"What do you keep on that second shelf?" he asked as the High Priest laid the book on the top shelf.

"Hmm? Oh there used to be two volumes. The second was stolen a many years ago by an acolyte. We never did manage to find them. Killed by monsters out on the roads somewhere we believe."

Arthur had a sudden feeling that this second volume was somehow very important.

"What was in the other book?"

"I do not know" admitted the High Priest. "It was stolen before I was ordained."

Diana shook her head at both suggestions. "It's a Lightning element, despite its appearance," she revealed, nodding toward it. "Which element would be best suited for defeating it?" A few moments later, she noticed her students looking at something to the side of her - so she turned around as well.

...Ah. It was the man who had been in the fight yesterday. He was looking much better. Quite nice actually when he cleaned up a bit. Those were some fine pants... "Hello, um... Castian, that's your name, isn't it?" She grinned. "Good to see you here. Feeling better? Ready to join my class?"

Selena watched as Diana discussed the virtues of the Cloud-puff, the less-than-affectionate nickname that she knew the creature by thanks to its tendency to act like a small thunderhead cloud.

"Earth-aligned Fiends will do best against Cloud-puffs and other lightning-based creatures," Selena replied softly, deciding that while she shouldn't steal all the answers from her younger companions she had to demonstrate she knew more than just herbs. "And they are especially harmful against Water-aligned Fiends. Again, Vulpis would be immune to it's attacks so while she may not have any harmful magic she can physically act as a shield - a trait that is useful for Healers tending to their charges."

((OOC: I was actually going to call it a Cloud-puff before Chico mentioned what it was!))

He dipped his head in a polite greeting to the woman, his eyes flickering up to meet hers. The young summoner stood upright, his dark black hair falling before his eye as slowly approached the group. His chest still hurt, but he made no complaint in front of the other's. Instead, he nodded quietly, his hands finding their ways into his pant's pocket.

"Yes, Diana. I am fine, thank you. I will join if it is not too late."

She had remembered his name...

Diana grinned at him. "Of course." Turning back to the group, she nodded at Selena's words. No-one else had been stepping forward - she didn't mind the contribution. "So. Earth. Does anyone here have an Earth aligned Fiend?" she asked, bright eyes flitting to Atani before back to the rest. She didn't know the element of her Fiend yet, but maybe... hm. Or perhaps Castian?

Helios watched the newcomer carefully. He remembered the healer back in the forrest being unable to heal him, revealing him as a darkness element Summoner. Was he really well enough to attend classes already? He had looked so close to death when Helios first found him. Helios had to assume that the man knew his own strengths.

Turning his attention back to the class Helios listened as Diana asked if anyone had a earth type Fiend. He wondered if anyone in the good did.

The second book was stolen? Bastian thought to himself. Who would want to steal a book like that? Unless there was something in it that had very important information in it.

“Is it only the High Priests that knew about these books? No one else that might know what was in the second one?

~~

Bella looked at the new student that arrived and remembered he was the guy from the day before they saved.

“Shouldn’t he be resting or something?” Bella asked in a whisper a bit worried. How could someone in his state attend class? Maybe Diana’s plan was for him to just watch from the side lines.

"We lost a large number of our order when the Titans attacked" said the High Priest sadly. "Normally I'd have to wait much longer than this to achieve my current position, but I was simply the most experienced man left after the attack."

"The acolyte who stole the second volume" asked Arthur. "What was his name?"

"Vorohah I believe. He came to us from Niefir."

Arthur nodded and turned to Bastain.

"We should head there next. If this Vorohah is still alive any family he might have in Niefir could know. You should also check in at the school."

~~~
Bella sounded just as worried as Helios felt. Glancing over at Diana Helios whispered back.
"We've already have a darkness Fiend display their power, so I doubt she'd want him to do anything just yet."
Bastian’s face didn’t look all to happy when Arthur spoke about the school. Diana didn’t come to see him when he was taken away which meant she really didn’t care about him. He should have known.
“Yes of course.” He spoke looking at the floor slightly. It has been only a day since the incident with his cousin and he of course was still a bit ashamed.
“We better get a move on then if we want to look for his family.”
Turning back to the High Priest Arthur bowed his head slightly. Even if he hadn't been to a temple or prayed in years, he should still show the order some respect.
"Thank you for your help Your Eminence. We will not trespass further on your time."
Arthur pulled up his hood again and walked over to the door. Opening it he checked the corridor before to make sure it was empty before stepping out.
Atani smirked as Diana flickered her gaze towards the young woman. "I got yer Earth Fiend right here," she remarked. Clenching a fist, she inhaled and swept her arm out. "Behemoth, charge!" she commanded, grinning as a scaled, armored, beast materialized behind her. It was vaguely lizard like, it's hulking brown form towering above her as its tail smacked into the ground.
"Show them what you can do, Behemoth," Atani stated. The Fiend let out a rumbling growl before moved around her, charging at the Cloud-puff's cage. It roared as it struck, claws glowing brown and smashing into the glass. The transparent surface shattered and Behemoth struck again, hitting the Lightning creature before it fled.
Down went the Cloud-puff and Behemoth's clawed hand, pinning the small thing to the ground.
"Oops. Looks like its cage is no good," Atani sneered. You would think the teachers would have accounted for a heavy assault approach.
--
[[um, I didn't know what else could be done because of the glass box. I figured Earth Fiends would be more assault oriented than status effect. Let me know if I need to change anything. I'll add in Sorana in the edited post if I need to change something. Else wise, she'll have to wait for my next post cause time constraints right now.]]
((I guess that I should have had Diana open the cage in the previous post. Oh well... rolleyes.gif))
Diana watched with slight apprehension as the girl smirked. Oh dear. This didn't look like it was going to be calm or controlled. Atani had just finished summoning her Fiend, when Diana started to walk toward the cage and speak. "Just hold on- Hey!" The Fiend had rushed past, ready to smash the cage to bits. Rain threw up a barrier of water to protect the group as it became apparent what was happening. The teacher jumped through a gap made for her before glass was enrobed in the liquid. It was suspended in the air before dropping in a wet, neat pile in front of Rain's hooves. This was why they were always ready.
Diana shook her head at the infuriating girl. Was this how Ceil had felt about her? No foresight and stupid. Well, at least she hadn't had such an attitude as Atani. She didn't think... "That cage was perfectly adequate before you smashed it to bits. You attacked without forethought or consideration for those around you. Impulsion can get you killed. You didn't wait for me to release the creature from a prison that you had to destroy in order to get to it." She crossed her arms. "It wasn't smart. Your Fiend is strong, but you use brute force. You'll reach a point when that isn't enough. Now is your time to practise technique and skill."
Knowing that Atani probably wouldn't take too much notice of her words anyway, the blue eyed Summoner turned back to the rest of her class. "Constant vigilance! Always be aware of your surroundings." She let one corner of her mouth tilt up from the straight line of her lips. "I will take care of you the best I can while you're under my care, but there will be times when you'll need to watch your own asses. Anyway, let's move on to the next monster. The element should be quite obvious." Diana started walking on, toward an eel-like creature in a tank. It was open at the top, but the creature was chained so that it couldn't do the class any damage. "What is it weak to, and does anyone have a Fiend aligned to that element?"
