Like Diana, Seraphina was not one to trust Arthur when it came to life or death. She supposed that was why she had been assigned to the more delicate matters since he had come back. Her lips curled back in a soft smile as she turned to Diana.

"I know, and we only want to ask him a few questions. I trust you've heard about the recent murders concerning summoners? They have been found with their crystals cut out. The hospital alerted the military of his case when he came in. I just need to talk with the boy. We don't want the Titan incident to happen again."

Her voice was calm as she attempted to sate her past fellow classmate. A hand reached back, and she tugged out two pairs of simple restraints to hand to Arthur.

"Be careful. He seems to have dislocated his shoulder."

---

A crazed darkness summoner trembled, his body temperature dropping fast while he continued to stare blankly at the sky. This was not his week.

Arthur took the restraints from Seraphina and then knealt down besides the boy. Hima lifted himself up slightly but continued to growl, just in case his prisoner got any funny ideas. Arthur took advantage of the space to roll the grounded Summoner onto his stomach, Hima moving legs as and when needed, and forced his hands behind his back, where Arthur bound them together using Seraphina's restraints. Once the boy was secure Hima stepped off him and sat down beside the two Summoners, still carefully watching the boy.

Arthur took a hold of the boy's arm and helped him to his feet. Hima had left a large patch of frost on the boy's front, which was now thawing and leaving wet patches in his tatty clothes.

"We should get him inside and next to a fire. Then we can question him."

Bastian looked at the class noticing no one stepped forward to answer his question nor take a chance on attacking the current monster. Well then if that was the case he would have to step in. Bastian placed his hand on his chest and whispered his magical word. In seconds a large ball of flame erupted behind him which soon disappeared revealing a huge red dragon. Areo stood behind Bastian towering over the class leaving them in his shadow.

“Now this is Areo. My fiend, a fire fiend, for those of you who didn’t know.” Bastian spoke while he took a few steps away from the caged monster. “So I’ve asked which magical attacks could harm this one. Seeing this monsters element is of a dark nature, an ice element, it could only mean those from the light elements could harm it. Fire, Wind and Lightning. Light summoners may be only seen as healers but the can cause quite a lot of physical damage if they are willing to take on a monster. Just as Selena showed earlier.” Bastian spoke now standing still a good few steps away. Bastian looked up at Areo who haven’t moved a single scale since he was summoned. His fiend didn’t seem as friendly as he used to which made Bastian wonder what was truly happening to him now.

“Areo can you please?” Bastian spoke to his fiend. Areo lowered his head so that it would align up with the caged monster. The bird like monster eye the dragon and started to squawk furiously knowing he was about to be attacked. Smoke was starting to escape from the dragon fiends nose and a low buzzing noise could be heard from his chest. The dragon fiend knew all too well not to attack with full power so he merely just curved his lips and small puffs of fire was blown towards the monster.

The Simurgh screeched in pain from the flames and the smell of burning flesh filled the area. With point being made by ice is weak to fire, the dragon fiend pulled away and returned to his stone like position again.

“Thank you Areo.” Bastian spoke walking past his fiend and giving a pat on the side of his fore leg. “Now let’s go to the next monster. Who can tell me what it is and what element?”

Helios winced slightly as Areo attacked and injured the ice monster. Yes it was a monster, but the Fiend's flames had terribly hurt it. As Helios watched the monster whimpered and drew back from the front of the cage, trying to curl up in the corner as far way from Areo as possible.

When Bastian asked if anyone knew the element of the last monster Helios worked it out via process of elimination. The only element they hadn't covered was light, his own element. Given how badly the last few monsters had reacted to being injured by their superior elements, he wasn't sure he wanted to see this.

"Um...light?" he ventured, thinking that perhaps it would be best to get this part over as quickly as possible.

“Good Helios.” Bastian spoke as he stepped closer to the cage. “This here is a Withering Crawlerr. Nasty monsters with fast, strong and stealthy movements. What they lack in magical attacks they pay back double in physical. Now Helios tell which elements does the most harm to them and which don’t.” Edited by DragonSpirit009

"Oh...um..."

Helios hadn't expected to be given the next question as well. Bastian probably wanted to make sure he knew the elements, since Cerberus and the Withering Crawler were the same type.

"Light elements are weak to all of the black elements" he recalled. "They take extra damage from ice, water and earth types and have a higher chance of being hit with ailments. A light Fiend or monster is immune to the white elements fire, electricty and wind."

Helios thought back to the struggle against Deminjal the day before. Cerberbus had been able to force an opening because he had been able to pass through the tornado unharmed. What would have happened if he had not been able to do so? More than likely he would be dead by now, along with several of his class mates. The thought sent chills down his spine.

Sandor noticed that there seemed to be a commotion happening in the school, but he decided instead to focus on Bastian. His fiends merciless attacks on the monster was slightly disturbing. Sandor then studied the withering crawler closely. It seemed to be a very strange monster. How would a monster with healing abilities live in the wild? he wondered, would it gather followers from monsters its healed, or just live on its own.

There was little noise from the recovering pit-fighter. His dark brown gaze stared at the chilling fiend while he allowed for his arms to bend back. His nose scrunched from the discomfort in his arm, it had been an old injury, and by now, Castian was used to the joint popping out. A simple sharp force to his shoulder would set it right, although it would entice a scream from his dry throat.

The scared rabbit of a darkness summoner stood at Arthur's beckoning, his expression showing little of what he felt. A sharp pain jolted throughout his injured body, but he made little noise. Pain was nothing more than a nuisance at this point; it was little more than an anchor letting him now that life still clung to him like maggots to a rotting corpse. That was the life of any darkness summoner; either they toughened up or they died early on.

Castian stared at the ice summoner, his form now trembling involuntarily.

----

Seraphina sighed ever-so softly at her dissimilar. He was always logical, but never as thoughtful. She supposed that was why she was there. At least the first part of their job was half done.

With no reply from Diana and time running out, the fire summoner waved a hand and she headed back toward the school. She could start a fire easily enough, but it was moments like these that she wish her fiend was smaller.

"Come on."

The girl walked toward the kitchens where the old stove was set. It would have to make-do at the moment, and getting a fire started would not be a big issue. Plus, they would have privacy for awhile. Sure enough, the young pyromaniac had started a blaze in the stove-oven soon after she had entered the room.

Sorana cringed, covering her ears and shutting her eyes against the cry of the Ice creature as it was burned. When its crying faded into whimpering, she stopped cringing and watched with worry as the monster cowered in the corner of the box. Glancing at Bastian, it appeared as if he had no qualms about inflicting such pain.

Shifting her weight nervously, the girl glanced at the boy who Bastian addressed as Helios, listening to his answer. "I've an Earth Fiend." Turning her head, she saw Atani lifting her hand, looking rather eager to call Behemoth back out.

Wes couldn't help but look at the boy with worried eyes. He hoped that he did not feel as though he had betrayed him, or lured him into some kind of trap, as Wes had no idea of the importance of the information he withheld. He stood back against the wall, adjusting the cuffs of his coat after their brief scuffle, and let the ice fiend do the work. "What an interesting way to reunite with an old friend." he thought to himself as he glanced at Diana, raising his eyebrows in an expression as though to ask if she were alright. He merely stood by as the other personnel secured the boy, his hand floating near his chest should the worst happen. He cocked his head as he heard whispers of summoners being found dead with their crystals cut out, and it all seemed to come together. Perhaps it had been a grand act of fate to have found the boy and escort him to where he could be captured, and he briefly considered whether or not he could be credited for finding him.

He straightened his back as there was more movement, and it seemed as though the group were getting ready to move and interrogate the young summoner. He attempted to catch the gaze of anyone nearby, letting them know that he was there to help or answer questions should they need it.

Bastian nodded in correction to Helios’s answer. It seemed like the class understood the elements and who is weak to who and so on. Just as he was about to ask who would like to attack it a girl raised her hand and announced she had an earth fiend. She also seemed eager to summon her and attack the caged monster. Bastian stared at her for a while summing her up a bit before he nodded to her giving the yes to attack the monster.

Bella was still pulling a funny face from the smell of the burned ice fiend. The smell of burning feathers and flesh still lingered the area which made her a bit nauseous. Bella made a mental note on what burning flesh and feathers smelled like for in case she ever crossed something like it again, which she hope will never happen. Even thou the smell was distracting her Bella followed the lessons and took note of the new monster they were addressing. It looked like a gaint creepy craweler which made her shudder a bit.

"And what do you think you are doing?" demanded Gladys.

The cook had just stepped into the panty to get a few more ingredients dinner when she heard the kitchen door open. She had thought it was either a student it teacher, knowing Sheridan was outside attending to the gutters, but to her suprise it was some strange woman in a military uniform. She had even had the gall to start a fire in her stove.

~~~
While Seraphina marched on ahead Arthur looked at the trembling boy in his hands. He wondered just how badly injured he was. He began to guide the younger Summoner towards the school but stopped for a moment when he reached Wesley.
"Perhaps you should go in search for the resident healer. He may need attending to."
Hima trotted after the two of them as they entered the building, the small ice Fiend taking no notice at all of the wind Summoner.
"Oh goodness." Seraphina had not noticed the cook earlier. The girl glanced up from her work, fully aware that this might take some doing.
The girl withdrew from the stove, the same polite smile from earlier decorating her lips.
"Hello... I am sorry. There's a boy who's taken quite a chill, and we needed to warm him up by the fire. I do apologies for the inconvenience, but do you mind us sitting him down by the fire. I fear he an ice fiend sat atop him, and unless we get him warmed up, there is a good chance the boy might because rather sick if we don't."
Her request was hardly a request. She had the authority to kick the woman out if she really had to, but she really did not want to tick off a cook. They would be dangerous when one did so.
"I have not been here in quite a long time. Is there another fireplace we could use instead if you need to use this one?"
"How about the library or the staff office?" snapped Gladys. "They both have fire places. In fact most of the rooms do. And they are all out of my way. Unless you are planning on cooking the boy and serving him for dinner, I suggest you find somewhere else to tend to him."
Gladys stood there with her arms crossed, glaring daggers at the intruder.
The library was too public for their desires, but the staff office could do for now. Seraphina arched a single brow at the feisty woman. With a slight nod, she leaned over to grab her jacket.
"Thank you, miss. I'll make sure to fetch you if my acquaintance decides to do just that."
She brushed past the other with a soft sigh, not wishing to cause anymore of a commotion than she already had. The fire summoner strolled back into the staff offices with a scrutinizing gaze. She had not been back here before, and as she entered the office, she peered around with lips pursing. Upon spotting the fireplace, she walked over. Picking up on of the fire starters, she knelt down, and began her task once more. When a small flame licked at the wooden logs, the military officer stood and walked out to direct Arthur and their young charge into the prepared room.
Arthur saw Seraphina step out of a room further down the corridor and then enter another closer by. The boy was heavy and difficult to guide properly, so by the time they reached the second room Seraphina was already coming out to fetch them.
There was a roaring fire in the otherwise musty room. Arthur assumed that since summoning was a hands on task, there wasn't much need for paperwork. He led the boy towards the fire but Hima stayed by the door. As an ice Fiend heat made him uncomfortable.
"You may sit down" said Arthur to the boy as he pointed towards a nearby chair.
Castian stalked after Arthur—not that he had much choice—as the male tugged at his forearm. His dull gaze flickered over Wes briefly. The boy cursed lowly beneath his breath. He was not exactly mad at the male, but at the same time, he was not particularly fond of the military man that had aided him earlier. If only Wes had allowed him to leave...
He trudged through the grass, his feet dragging while his gaze fell to the ground. Soon, Arthur was instructing him to sit, and with a glance toward Hima, he obeyed. His features contorted from discomfort, but the warmth of the fire made up for it.
"I didn't do anything..."
--
Seraphina skirted around the ice fiend upon reentering the room, her gaze intently settled on both men. A hand pulled one of the chairs over to place across from the hunched over student.
"We never said you did. We just want to ask you a few questions about your hospital trip, okay?"
In Arthur's opinion if the boy had not done anything wrong, then he should not have tried to flee. Questioning someone after a monster attack was not uncommon. As far as he was concerned, the boy was highly suspicious.
"Why don't you start by telling us your name?" he asked.
Diana glanced to Wes as Castian was dragged along by Arthur. She blinked at him, before moving over to his side. "I need to see what is happening here. We must talk later." She gave his elbow a friendly squeeze before following after Arthur, her careful gaze making sure that Castian was not dragged off into some bushes and done with. She slipped into the room after Arthur. Bastian was perfectly capable of looking after the lesson for now. She stood in the open doorway, leaning against the frame. The teacher was well aware of Hima's cold presence near her feet. That damn dog thing... She hated it.
"Okay." The boy murmured lowly to the woman with bright fiery hair.
Being the center of attention was certainly not a strange notion to the spoiled boy, but with the scrutinizing gazes of everyone there, the darkness summoner's fingers fidgeted idly within the fabric of his borrowed clothing.
His hazel eyes flickered toward Diana's lurking presence, but at the sight of Hima, his attention quickly snapped back toward the investigators.
"Jia CasTian. My father owns most of the vineyards in Tehgrimm Suda..."
Seraphina cared little of why the boy ran for that moment. Certainly, if the boy had been caught up in all of this, he had probably been up to something. But she had been sent to stop these killings, and unless Castian was blatantly breaking the law and harming others, this matter would take prescience first.
"Mister Jia, the men at the hospital said you came in with some pretty bad injuries. Did something happen? We are only here to help."
Castian glanced back toward Diana, as if to beg for her help or approval. The boy was still hesitant to trust anyone in the military.
Arthur stepped sideways a little so that he could look more clearly at Castain's arms. His shirt did not cover them entirely and while there was evidence of plently of wounds and bruises, some old some new, not many of them look like they had been inflicted by monsters.
In silence he reached out and tugged at Castain's shirt so that he could see the wounds below the boy's neck. Some of them had been revealed when Castain tore at his bandages.
"These wounds were caused by weapons" he said standing back and looking at Seraphina. "Not teeth or claws or magic. Did the hospital give you a full report on his injuries?"
((Forgetful Vange is forgetful. Fixed.))
Castian's eyes stared venomously at the white-haired male as he moved closer, distrust in his gaze as he instinctively leaned away from the man who had brought him his newly found pain. He jumped as a hand reached for his shirt, his good hand tugging unhelpfully at the restraints. A strongly worded curse left the captive's lips, his jaw setting in a hard, stubborn lock.
Seraphina dipped her head, her own gaze never leaving the boy. He pulled out her small notebook in which she had written her notes from earlier. Despite knowing exactly what was written within its pages, she read the list off for affect.
"Deep claw marks along his back and left side.
Bruises covering his torso, arms, knuckles, and shoulders. - Some older. Some newer.
Rope-burn against his wrists and ankles.
Small lacerations to his upper body and around his wrists.
A knife wound to his lower abdomen.
Multiple scars....
And deep cuts to his upper chest... right where the summoner's crystal rests."
With a resounding thud, she shut the notebook and she set it aside.
"Castian, we know something happened. We are only here to help. If this were to happen again to someone else, we would like to be able to stop them."
The darkness summoner glanced down at the tight-fitting jeans he wore, his lips pursing shut. The silence spreading through the room was stifling, especially in such a musty and mildew-filled surrounding. Warmth was only now beginning to seep into his bones, making him shiver involuntarily. Finally, he looked up at Arthur, dark brown eyes meeting the male's chilling gaze.
"It wasn't our fault. It was only a drink..."
"'Our'? There were more of you?" asked Arthur in what for him were urgent tones. He briefly exchanged glances with Seraphina before speaking again.
"Tell us everything to can remember. Everything. Do not try to hide or hold anythign back."
On the far side of the room Hima was sitting bolt upright, alert and ready.
Castian glanced from one summoner to the other, his brows furrowing. He should tell them; he did not want another going through what he had. Thinking back to it was enough to terrify him and he hated it.
At this point, he ignored Hima as best he could. In any other place, he would have eagerly sent his fiend to injure the much loathed fiend. For that moment, he turned his head away to stare at the flickering flames.
"We, two other guys and myself, were going to celebrate before I left for the school. After several drinks, some patrons offered a few beverages as congratulations, they said. We accepted and we drank. It was dark when we woke up tied up in the back of a wagon. We rode, and rode for hours. It seemed like hours before we stopped. It was dark out—I don't know, it seemed dark behind the blindfold—and they decided it was time to rest. ...said we had a long journey. Something about going to Upmejeuh? They beat us that night for fun. They hated us so much. I guess they got bored or tired after awhile, because they left us alone."
His voice was hoarse while his dead tone droned on. The male's tongue slid out between his dark-red lips, wetting the drying flesh.
"We plotted while they slept. We were going to steal the horses. At least we assumed they slept... When we tried to procure the horses when we cut ourselves free, but they caught us. It was too far to run anywhere with Alec's broken leg. There was no where to hide. John and I had old daggers they had not managed to find, so when they came at us, we fought, but we were already so damn weak. They got a hold on Alec and held a knife to his throat when we tried to summon our fiends. Alec told us to leave him, but... They got John with his own knife... There was not a censorkip.gif thing I could do, so I ran. A monster attacked when I reached the woods and I summoned my fiend. I don't remember much else....just the monster falling before I passed out. I woke up to the sound of Diana's voice. Then, I was in the hospital."
