The Wizard's Dragons

Recommended Posts

"Wait, what?" Robby said, baffled by the accusation posted by Lana. "No, no. No humans today actually HAVE magic, at least, to the best of my knowledge. Some people just know something that a lot of other people don't know. That way, when someone uses that knowledge, nobody can explain it. You know, like magic." he said. "I actually know a few 'magic' tricks of my own, but all they take is a deck of cards. No spellcasting, curses or incantations. Just slight of hand."

He hopes that this would dis-prove any threats that the dragons had in mind.

They could be lying, Graarl stated in thought-speech to Lana, But let us trust them for now. Even if they are wizards, Nutoner wasn't that bad of a person.

Except for our enslavement, Lana responded with a bitter tone. Will you tell them our decision or shall I?

You tell them.

All right, Lana responded as she took one step forward. "We will trust you for now, but if you put one foot out of line..." she paused menacingly, letting the unsaid end of the sentence hang.

Robby took interest in the dragons' trust.

"Don't worry. We won't dissapoint you." he confirmed, bowing to the majestic creatures. It felt oddly out of character, for him at least, to bow.

((Just one thing: where is this story going?))

-Chasilin nodded curtly in understanding and, at the sight of Robby bowing, did a two-step princess bow she'd learned, and accidently made a habbit out of doing, from a TV Show. Looking up determinedly at Lana sh let her expression soften.- "Is there anything else I, we, can do to help?" She didn't mean to voulunteer Robby for something he didn't want to do but it would feel rather selfish asking if there was only something she, herself, could do.-

"Yeah, is there anything else we can help with?" he asked, essentially mimicing Chasilin's question. "I mean, it's kinda cool, being in the presence of dragons and all." Robby scratched the back of his head, slightly nervous that the dragons were accusing him of wizardry. "If not, I'd like to ask a few questions, starting with 'Where has your kind been all my life?' That is, if you are willing to answer my curious mind."

-Chasilin made her way to Robby and found herslf standing behind the younger, though he seemed tall for his age, boy. She was feeling very vulnerable, the last thing she ever had on her mind was losing the trust of the dragons. As if to reassure her, the Royal Blue from before placed his nose in her hand which was dangling at her side, the other gripping the same arm at the elbow. She smiled and gently pet the sweet thing then looked up to Rayle and Graarl. She wanted to know the same thing but she'd be better off staying quiet until they trusted her completely once more. Since she didn't know how long that would be, she had a feeling she'd be mute for a while.-

((I have no idea where this is going. I guess we're just stalling until some of the others get back. I'm going to start to PM people.))

Graarl sensed that Lana was about to talk, and quickly interrupted her. Lana, no. I will speak.

Lana nodded, and stepped slightly back.

"We... do not know how we came to be here, in your world. We are from a land of magic, but also one of fear. We have been under the care of a wizard named Nutoner, who practiced his spells and made potions. One night, he had gone to bed earlier than usual, because he had just made a very complex potion. We were at that time slightly out of it, and very easy-going and carefree. To each of us, the potion smelled like a different type of food, each our own favorites. We sniffed at the potion, and found ourselves here in your world," By now, Graarl had started to rant and found himself muttering, "We shouldn't be here. There is no magic here. This is not where we belong! Somehow he twisted the dimensions..."

"Dimension twisting? Interesting." Robby was growing even more curious about the dragons. "And you don't know how, or if you want to get back. I'd be glad to help you escape into the wild, or something, but I don't know how, or where." He realized that he had no clue how to help the dragons. He really did want to help them, though.

Completely ignoring the boy and lost in his thoughts, Graarl urgently motioned to Lana. "Gather the elders," he mumbled slightly louder than before, "We must think of a way to re-open the portal. Suddenly noticing the humans, he jumped slightly, but then regained his composure and said loud enough for them to hear, "If either of you know anyone, well, sciency, please contact them and tell them to meet you here. We will need brainpower if my plan is going to work."

((Sad to say, his plan will fail miserably...))

"Ooh! I'm sciency! I won honorable mention at my 6th grade science fair!" he blurted aloud. Turning to Chasilin, he added, "To a lemon battery, mind you." He turned back to the dragons. "How can I help?"

Lana took off in a flurry of wings and headed off to find the 'elders'.

"We must wait for Lana to return with the elders, and then I will explain my thoughts." Graarl stated. "Please wait here. I am going to find some of the others along with my granddaughter."

He took off, trying to cause as little wind as possible, aiming for the opposite direction the vampire had gone.

Robby patiently sat down as the two dragons wandered off. He trusted that they would come back when they needed him.

Chasilin felt insecure being the only one standing, like a lone tree in a lightening storm, perfect for striking. She sat down quickly, crossing her legs and leaning against a rock that faced Robby. Studying the ground and picking at the dirt she wondered if her parents missed her about now. School had gotten out hours ago and she hadn't come home. Frowning she tossed a pebble with a flick of her wrist without raising her arm, both were slumped and hanging across her knees . There was no way they'd even notice it, they were too bus to properly care for her. In fact, the only person who might've cared would have been her nanny, but she'd left back when Chasilin was 10. Since then she'd stay home alone from the time school got out until her parents both got home well into the next day. They both, unfortunately, had afternoon to night shifts and mostly slept during the time she was at school. She hardly even knew her parents and as well they didn't know her. Just blood related strangers living their own lives in the same house. Chasilin tossed another pebble and though that perhaps she wouldn't go home, or if she did, maybe she'd sneak in with that baby Royal Blue she'd seen before.

Callidus sat up on his ledge near the top of the exhibit, watching the events transpiring beneath him with disinterested boredom. The large green tenderly dabbed at his scar with his tongue as he watched. This is saddening. One attempt at escape fails and suddenly we are all tied up with these two small ones. Pah! This will not be my fate. I will find my way out of this cage if I have to do so myself. His deep red eyes scanned over the area of the dragons' enclosure, probing for any sign of weakness in the walls and doors.

((Does Callidus know about Lana's transformation? Actually, do you know?))

Lana glided across the fake landscape, scanning for any elders. Drifting higher, she spotted a scarred green dragon perched on a ledge. She sent a mental image of the dragon to Graarl, who replied, Yes, that is Callidus. Lana swiftly swooped down to the ledge. Grabbing the rock with her talons, she waited for the green dragon to notice the vampire dragon perching on his ledge.

((neither of us know))

Callidus shifted his bulk as a young vampire dragoness landed on the end of his ledge. The green flicked his tongue, recognizing the newcomer's scent.

"Lana? Is that you?" he asked in a bit of awe. Hadn't she been a regular albino the last time he had seen her? Callidus rose to his feet and looked over the vampire perching before him.

"What happened?"

Robby sat for a minute or two when he noticed a figure shuffling in the distance.

"Hey, look who's awake!" he said to Chasilin. He got up, and slowly approached the creature. He didn't want it to see him as a threat.

Chasilin turned to look where Robby had indicated, she turned back and pushed herself to her feet, brushing grovel from her clothes.- "Robby..." -She complained and followed after him, peeking around his shoulder at the creature before them.- "Robby..." -She said again.-

"Nothing, just, be careful." -She defiantly averted her gaze to make her own worry nonchalant. She frowned.- "So, what are you doing, anyway?" She asked, looking down at the dragon before Robby.

"I'm just trying to get the other dragons to accept me." He continued to walk slowly towards the dragon, and kneeled in front of it.

((So Lana was a little vampy at birth, but her parents were ashamed and scared that she was a vampire so they asked Nutoner what they should do, and therefore Lana the little white hatchling was born. During the fight with Vayne she got mad and transformed into a young adult vampire.))

"Yes, I am Lana. I've just changed back to normal!" she giggled slightly, fluttering her wings a little. "Anyway, Graarl needs you and all the elders to meet him at the back of the cage, where two humans are. I trust you can find the place." With those words, Lana dropped her grip and fell a few feet before flipping open her wings and gliding back up. Now to find the next one...

Callidus listened to Lana's explanation and nodded in understanding.

"I suppose I have no choice but to go." he said with a little mock irritablity. He didn't really mind at all. He had nothing else to do anyway.

Once Lana had left the large Green rose to his feet and spread his great wings. After a few experimental beats to get them streched out, he dropped off the ledge. After a few seconds he spread his wings and caught the air under him before turning to fly towards where Graarl was. His wings carried him with powerful strokes that created gusts of wind that would be strong enough to knock a human off their feet.

Graarl flapped his wings twice as he headed back to the humans, having suddenly realized that he could have just mentally contacted everyone. So he did just that as he winged back toward home, contacting Lana as well to rejoin them. When he approached the spot, he flared his wings and dropped steadily, shaking the ground slightly as he landed. After regaining his balance, he draped himself across the ground and waiting, his tail flicking periodically with small thuds as he waited.
