Okay so dear, wonderful Gyps has gotten me a lower gen Gold eggy, we are coordinating times for the transfer, and since I have Fort I'm going to go with Orlith. Are we all still using Pern or or are we using Weyr surnames? Orlith of Pern or Orlith of Fort? Or maybe Holth... Now I can't decide... xd.png

The name of the Weyr you're requesting to start: Telgar Weyr

Names (and/or links) to the dragon pair for your Weyr. will either have to use one of my low gens or hold out for a lower or cb. not sure what I will do yet

elencha! haha fancy meeting you here. lol.

When I first joined I name a few of my commons with Weyr names. Of course most were taken so I had to mix of the spelling, so they look horrible now, but I'd love to join. Its a great idea having all of the Wyrs with different golds. smile.gif

EDIT: lol. of course... my only super low gen gold at 4th gen is a male *curses her gold*

There's someone wanting to trade a 2nd gen gold for a 2nd gen silver (over on the trading thread) in case anyone here has one.

*grumbles noisily about the refusal of her CB Silvers to produce anything but commons*

Gold egg safely transfered to elencha. Fort weyr will soon have a new Queen. happy.gif

And quick question: How does the breeding work for extra eggs?

I'm not holding my breath for a gold egg so soon after this metallic spree, so I'm expecting my first gifted egg to be a whiptail. So say elencha breeds the gold and a whiptail, and gets a whiptail egg, which then I take. Do I breed it with a green? Or do I need to track down another gold for myself to use? I do have 1 shorter genned gold female, but she's in another lineage and not named properly. Or do I just named it properly, set it aside, and wait for a gold from elencha?

Okay, it's official: I am an idiot. I was in such a hurry to incubate that gold egg so I could ER it, I didn't realize I couldn't influence an egg under three days, so now I'm stuck with good old fashioned prayer. sad.gif Keep your fingers crossed with me? And send me girl vibes, lots and lots of them. I did try to manipulate the law of averages once I realized it, though, by influencing every other egg I had male. You hope, and I'll hurry, eh?

HA!! She gendered female anyway! Grabbing a mate for her shortly, Fort Weyr eggs to follow. laugh.gif

Actually, reffering to the OP, I thought the greens were fertile, but were just too stupid to take care of their eggs properly like the golds.. Maybe I remember wrong, but thought I'd ask.

ACK!

Grats, elencha!

FYI: at school atm, doing some work on a website for class, so I can't update or do any in-depth responses atm. When I get home and get some time to myself, I'll try to get this updated asap, and answer the questions. >.<

I've been busy with school, then was at MegaCon recently and didn't have access to a computer. Got home laaaate last night and was super tired.

<3

I see lots of requests as well, I'll get to those too, promise. Anyone who hasn't replied to my PM's about list specifics, just a quick reminder for anyone who has anything special, otherwise I'll just make a standard 10-spot list, 1 or 2 days grace-period for anyone who had asked for an egg, no freezing for the first 3 gens, and must name gifted eggs by my rules.

I'll also make "extra-gold" lists for this specific lineage if anyone would like to have one. Probably would be around 3-spot limit, no freezing, naming policy.

And Pryde mentioned using blacks as stand-ins for bronzes since they have a nice gold-producing rate and have "bronze" on their bellies. ^^; . I agree with this. Anyone else have comments or support for that?

Ok, gotta run now, I'll be back later tonight, I hope, to update in detail! <3

Still going with the "of Pern" suffix - either of those names would be wonderful if you could manage it. ^^;

Mmm...Moreta, Dragonlady of Pern. I just re-read that recently... xd.png

Whoops!

Incoming wall'o'text?

For anyone who receives a gifted egg, I don't have any specific requirements to who you mate it to. If it's male, priority mates would be gold Queen (if you want to wait to get one from a Weyr, or catch a CB that genders female - Wild Queens), green female, then my posted list in the first post if the gold or greens outright refused. If you end up with a non-gold female, priority mates would be green male, then follow down the mating pool list I posted on the first post. So you have some flexing room if your greens don't cooperate (and we get some variety!). If you're lucky enough to receive a junior-queen egg from a Weyr, follow the list (bronze/brown, blue, green, etc).

In Pern, the only females are greens and golds, with the golds being the only fertile ones. If I tried to apply that logic to DragCave dragons, the mating pool would be EXTREMELY LIMITED. Especially since the majority of gifted eggs will be non-gold. I would rather not limit lineage dragons (other than the line of breeding Weyr Queens and their mates) to one gender either, as that can get rather annoying to people who don't have pinks to influence with (at least for now). I'm going to post about that on the first post to see what people think. (ex: you can only breed and name a gifted egg with "of Pern" if it's a non-gold male, or a junior gold Queen) I am open to suggestions!

The only dragon that I'm excluding from this lineage are gold males. I just can't see them existing in Pern. I could see genetic mutations allowing for the other colors to have both genders (all females that chewed firestone would become infertile, of course, so only the queen would be reproducing as always), but for some reason gold males just feels...wrong. I might change my mind on this, I'm not sure. For now though, gold males pulled the short end of the stick and are being excluded.

Anyway. It's 6:30 in the morning and I'm finally going to bed. Got home and realized I had a project due for my class later today, so that's what I've been working on all night and this morning. Yaaaaaay, lapse in memory! Curse you, Spring Break! Will update first post with this info and a "poll" for single-gender breeding vs both-genders breeding tomorrow sometime, as I'm about to pass out on my keyboard.

hopefully this all makes sense. -___-' If not, I'll clear up anything confusing tomorrow.

Yep, that makes sense. So then my next questions are, do we need to breed the eggs we're gifted to pass on to others in the Weyr? Or is the "list" for each weyr a list for the Senior Queen to fill? Can the Junior Queens help fill the list, or is that why you'd like us to specify which pair when we request an egg?

And on a slightly different note, may we request eggs from Multiple weyrs? The reason I'm asking is, if so, I may request to start a weyr as well, if I'm not being too greedy. If I have to choose, I'd still prefer to remain at Fort. happy.gif

High Reaches is having a rough month - senior queen Dulciath rose and was caught by bronze Agathonth. No clutch resulted.
