Give your dragon a journal!

Recommended Posts

Dear Journal,

Our army has reached a number previously thought to be, well, unreachable. There are 86 adult Pillows romping around the cave, but they aren't full of themselves just because they are, so to speak, the superior breed in the cave. Amongst them is one tiny little hatchling named Noodly- we don't know Noodly's gender and we never will, because little Noodly was frozen not too long after (s)he hatched, though we automatically assume that a dragon is male. Therefore, to us and to Noodly, he is indeed a he. Noodly never got the chance to grow his fur and never will. For the most part, he doesn't seem to mind, but we all fear for him. The temperature is dropping every day and it will soon be very cold out! Even though it doesn't snow where we live, the cave will be quite chilly these next few months. Luckily, the Pillows all have insulation- their warm, thick fur- all except for Noodly! I'm sure the elders will take pity on him and keep him close so he doesn't freeze to death in the winter. We have a few new additions to the cave, including six Pillow hatchlings, a Black hatchling, a strange metallic egg, and five Pillow eggs. The metallic egg is a Silver something-or-other. I think it might be one of those special prize dragons that are all the craze right now, and here I am, a silly little frozen Skywing hatchling- my name is 'GLAM'S IRRESISTIBLY FLUFFY ARMY.' I call myself GIFA. On her scroll, I come right before the Pillow horde. I'm not as unfortunate as my friend, though- his name tells how many Pillows are in the army, so his name is always changing, the poor sap. That's all for now!

Oh my God.

Icey seems to be building an army of mints, with Speara as the leader! This is very interesting. I'm going to have to investigate sooner or later.

Lots of Love (And even more water)

Aqualight <3

I may be new here, but I'm pretty sure what SpyroIce is up to is completely ludicrous! He spends all his time traveling, looking for more Mints, like he's going to, like Aqualite said, build a freakin' army! what the hell, i mean, what the actual hell?! why not just try to make an army of something better, stronger, like me? A thunder! i mean, bloody hell, i am a guardian of nature, after all! Yeah "Bloody" right, wannabe! -The One Who has the Gift-Anyways, i find it moderately unfair.

Dear Diary,

Today was so much fun! Snuck into owner's office and snooped on her computer - harder to do with talons than you might imagine. Gentle came over to watch, so I opened a window so he could stick his head through. She had her lineage spreadsheet and request lists all open - we have SOOOO many humans waiting for eggs from us! It's hilarious. Heard the car pull up, so slammed the computer shut - hope it didn't break - and got outta there superfast. Had to slip Silver a high five on the way back to the fields though - the rageface our owner makes when she tries to breed us AGAIN and gets no eggs is priceless!!! xd.png

Esteemed Journal Whose Name is Ahiru,

'Tis I again, Mlagern. Today is a terrible day... Blackshine, my pet raven, was killed. He was flying alongside me to a nearby human tribe and he got lost from me. I searched for hours, until the sun set, but when I found him it was too late. Two human boys were practicing archery in the dark and Blackshine flew across their target... You can guess what happened there. I was crying so hard I barely know how I got back to the cave, but I somehow made my way to the small cave branch-off were we normally keep the eggs. At the same time I came in a little storm dragon egg hatched and instead of first seeing Kinjari, who was on-duty at the time, he saw me.

I can't shake him now. He follows me everywhere and anywhere, thank goodness he doesn't have wings else he'd probably have attached to my hip by now. I'm starting to grow slightly fond of the little guy, but it's too soon for me to take another companion... after not being able to save my Blackshine, it just makes me wonder how I could take care of this little hatchling who can't fly, speak and barely walk. Oh well... Time will tell...

PS, The little dragon's name is Torabus. Torabus Sylverstorm, as he was apparently fathered by a dragon who had a last name. The odd thing is his mother was a Dorkface, which by gender and nobility should rule out his father's given last name, but we don't think Dorkface fits...

Forever yours,

Mlagern No-last-name.

Grenar-- Nov. 25, 2011

StraVir said told me that once I grew my wings, I'd be old enough to start a journal. So...here goes..

~I'm not entirely sure what to write here...but I suppose I should start from the beginning. My name is Grenar and I hatched a few days ago. The first things I remember were how bright it got all of a sudden and the large dark figure in the far corner of the cave.

I heard it make a deep rumbling noise...I got scared so I hid in a pile of tree leaves near the mouth of the cave...my home as it seems... The figure in the corner rumbled again and moved closer to me. I closed my eyes and hoped I was invisible, but that didn't work well. The next thing I knew, my back was being stroked gently and the figure spoke.

"Don't be afraid of me, little one, I won't hurt you." The voice was surprisingly gentle. When I opened my eyes to look up at the figure I found the strangest looking creature. Not dragon... My curiousity must have shown because it answered my unasked question. "Ah, I see you aren't aware. How stupid of me." It lifted me from my hiding place and nestled me against its chest which was warm and soft. "I am StraVir," it said. "I am not entirely human but I do have human blood, which is why I look so strange. You see, I am a Draconian."

I looked up once again in confusion as StraVir moved us toward the back of the cave.

"Humans are those two legged, fleshy creatures that you see down there." A clawed finger pointed at a pool of water that formed a shimmering image of several, strange two legged creatures bustling in a colony of some sort. "The word Draconian is a human word for cruel or severe. They bestowed the name upon human-dragon hybrids because of our relatively cruel nature toward them." I looked at the shimmering pool a little longer before the image disappeared. StraVir chuckled. "You may be too young to understand, dear Grenar." My head rose at the name. "Yes, that is your name, little Grenar."

And that was my first day out of my egg. I listened to StraVir talk about the world and why we were hidden inside of a cavern instead of out like others. A clawed hand would point toward two other eggs, one green with speckles on it and two others with turqouise markings, and say that we needed to protect them so that they may have a chance at life.

By the end of the day, one of the turqouis marked eggs had a crack and I knew I wouldn't be the only hatchling in the cave very soon.

Grenar-- Nov. 25, 2011

~Keenla, our new hatchling is very aggressive. The little one doesn't have wings yet so we don't know the gender. StraVir is becoming anxious. She (as is turns out, StraVir is a female) paces in the cave for sometime before flying off for a short while to clear her mind.

"I never left you alone as an egg," she told me not long ago. I asked her once where she went but she simply shook her head before turning her bright green gaze toward the mountains. The thoughtfulness those green orbs hold confuses me sometimes. The draconian has never been harsh with me, but I have, on few occasions, witnessed her temper. She'll never admit it, but I see the lonliness and longing in her eyes.

"You've grown so fast," she sometimes tells me. "It's hard to believe that not so long ago I held you to my bosom and gave you your name, beautiful Grenar." She calls me that often. To her, dragons are the most beautiful creatures that have ever lived. She ignores her own strange beauty. It makes me wonder if she will one day find a mate.

Keenla loves to charge me, the hatchling, I can tell, will be very territorial one day. StraVir is the only one who can calm the rambunctious little beast. With just a look, the little one is tucked at her feet making whimpering, defeated noises. During times like that I can actually call the menace, cute.

Grenar-- Nov. 26, 2011

~Surprise, we sure weren't expecting another egg to hatch so soon. It seems little speckles hatched this morning, not long after StraVir woke. She called it a Wyvern as she lifted the squeaking hatchling to her chest and named it as she did with me and little Keenla. The small grean and red hatchling nuzzled into her scaled neck.

"Redah. That's your name, little one." Oh, how I longed to be so small again, to have StraVir hold me like that again. But now I outsize my guardian by so much. However it doesn't stop me from curling my body around her in sleep.

Her patience with me and the hatchlings astonishes me. She hardly ever raises her voice, rarely roars out of frustration. Although, when Keenla charged Redah soon after the little one hatched, StraVir had one of her rare moments. She growled, the sound was low and vibrating and deffinitely threatening. The sound made Keenla freeze in its tracks and whimper. I pulled the little wyvern under my wing while StraVir had a...talk with the other hatchling...

Raising Sun-- November 27. 2011

I protectively held my new egg near me as the other dragons moved about the cave. Few came over to give me congrats on the egg. I didn't mind the lack of praise. Most of the other dragons were talking to the latest dragons to reach adulthood. One of these dragons had been my own egg once upon a time. She had been a quick hatcher but a very slow hatchling back then. So many told me she would never make it. That she wouldn't survive. West Sun proved them though. She survived and became a beautiful dragon. Now, she would have a beautiful male to call her sibling... well, I hope it will be a male anyway.

"greetings Raising! What a cute little egg you got there! Has Shaded seen it yet?" ForestWings flew down from the ceiling of our massive cave and gently landed next to me. She was always the one to start a conversation, and I was always willing to talk with her. Shaded Dawn is my amazing mate, and he is the father of West Sun. Even if he can be a little too strict on his children, Shaded is still a good dragon. In my eyes at least.

"Not yet. he went out hunting at sun down. he shouldn't be back for another day or two. " I looked down at the little egg next to me. Wondering if it would look like him instead.

"That's good! this egg is gonna have a better chance than last time! Without him always growling at it to hatch, even trying to toss it around once to see if it would break out of the shell faster!" I was ready to jump up and attack ForestWings. EVERYONE tells me this story about how Shaded is crazy, how he started rolling West Sun all over the place, trying to get the shell to break quicker. And now that's why she was so slow to hatch. it's insane! He may be strict, but I know my mate, he would never do something like this! Why do dragons always tell me otherwise?

I told Forest to get lost, and she gave me an eyeroll before flying off to chat with Lime Vine. I held my egg even closer to me. He was going to an amazing dragon, maybe he will be able to clear shaded Dawn's name.. either way, I knew this egg would make me just as proud as west Sun.

November 29, Year of '11

It's been quite a while since I written you, journal.

Yes... Quite a while... Tambala, the alternative black who lead our clan a couple years ago was released into the wild much to our master's displeasure, as it was the only alt black she had. The black dragons still respond to the titles she gave them, though, funnily enough. My fellow dorsasl have been tricking my master and writing folk song lyrics beside their pictures on the scroll. Songs like Evil Enchantress, Unicorn Meat, Still Doll, and As The Deer. It's very strange and I don't see the appeal in descrecrating our Master's dear scroll, but they enjoy it and usually fix it after Master gets onto them...

Master Cyda has headed into the Volcanic regions after a magma mother she spotted a week ago, she hopes to sneak an egg away if a clutch is laid, here's to her safe return. I wonder what prompts dear Cyda to go after these dangerous creatures and try and raise them. Of course, we are just as dangerous, but we've been raised by her, we're loyal to her and grateful for her taking care of us. But the thing is, she's taking bigger risks, a in she'll pack little supplies, leave the cave with myself or another reliable dragon/caretaker in charge, and be gone for weeks! I worries me, because if she's gone for more than eight weeks, magic passes over the cave and we forget our names. If she's gone longer, the scroll may burst into flames and leave the only thing that bound us to the cave in ashes, we'll be wild... or dead.

Wishing for Cyda's safe return...

Fusion Maria Fall.

Elios Thade gave his journal to me, which was very odd, considering I'm not his daughter, and that we have little connection to each other. He handed it to me and solemnly announced, "You are to have my journal, and write in it every so often." I had answered, "Why? Out of all the dragons, why choose this little frozen-as-a-hatchling dragon?" I wasn't unhappy, I was just puzzled. He then replied, "Why not? You have a different view from others, being special as you are." He just left like that. I do admit, I am special. No, I'm not being arrogant. My owner was the one to judge me about being special or not. She said I was a beautiful and elegant black hatchling, with a black chest, instead of the usual yellow. To admit, I just want a normal life without gleaming eyes staring at me every few minutes. It's pressuring me, and I don't like it. I realize I'm being rather negative, but it's the truth. Though, I do think there is a good thing about being who I am. I got this journal. Now I get to jot down my feelings. I don't really need to do that though. I have my very best friend Black Twilight, who understands me so much. I think other dragons envy me. I'm always in youth, not aging any older. Black Twilight thinks the same. But it's not that great, I'm stuck being young and small, helpless. Black Twilight doesn't agree with me; she keeps telling me we'll always be safe in our owner's cave. I hope so.

Dear Journal,

Choco has seemed to convince me to write one of these. I honestly don't know why as she's horrible at reading my handwriting. Oh well. I'll try translating it to her later. Sparkles has been a bit of a parasite lately. Whenever I run off he keeps sending out Well to fetch me. It sucks when your the heir to a clan. Being treated like your some princess... I just want to be a NORMAL dragon for once. Not some blood-sucking, soul-devouring vampire. Just once I want to be able to see a sunrise again without the fear of bursting into ash. Just once...

4 nights ago, the weather has been awfully bitter. The afternoon is sunny, yet very cold. The night is no different. Right now, I'm huddling close to Black Twilight, sharing the little warmth we have. Everyone is inside, fires in the cave here and there. They are casting dancing shadows on the wall that Wolf Dancer is staring out. Not long until she dances gracefully. Wind is blowing harshly, and some of the cold wind is seeping into our cave. It extinguishes some of the weaker fires. This weather is evil. I hope it ends soon.

**Queen Hestia's Journal - Day One**

Today my brothers and sisters hatched! The names are:

Sir Poseidon (Now Queen Aphrodite. Type: Coastal Waverunner)

Sir Orpheus

Sir Pluto (Now Queen Selene. Type: Autumn Seasonal)

Sir Apollo (Now Queen Harmonia. Type: Dorsal)

I guess until we can evaluate the gender, the names stay that way. My favorite of the bunch is Pluto; it has a pretty Autumn color. My favorite season is Autumn; I love the color of the changing leaves. My brothers and sisters are adopted; like myself. One day, I will make my children the Second Generation of the Family I will one day have. Until then, I watch after my siblings and care for them; they are small and very cute. I can't wait to watch them grow up. I've never watched newborns grow up before. Guess I'll just have to wait and watch!

**Queen Hestia's Journal - Day Two**

We've determined the gender of one of the newborns! The dragon is a Guardian Dragon. And she'll be taller than me! We've named her Queen Aphrodite. And she looks like a Aphrodite, too. I can't wait to get to know my sister. And Pluto. No; all of them! It'll be exciting!

Today I'm going out to the Coast to grab some fish and relax. I also am going to see Arcangelo; the man who teaches Dragons about life skills and how to survive. He's a elderly dragon, and he's one of the oldest. He's about 500 years old. Which is older than me; being 25 years old.

On my way to see Arcangelo. This is exciting! I can't wait to see what he has in store for a dragon like myself! He said he'd be located by the Old Willow Tree by Turtle Cove near Cedar Lake. I'm just so anticipated! Well, that's enough writing for today, will write tomorrow, though!

The weather still didn't calm down. I always wake up to the pitter-patter of rain. It's very warm in the cave, since embers, magmas, and red dragons keep making very strong fires. Despite of the rain, the dragons talk all day and night, cheering and flying all around the large cave.

Some dragons have celebrated the holidays, wearing little outfits of such. The dragons keep on boasting about their wonderful styles and costumes. The horse dragons, skywings, pillow, and whiptails all died themselves using the crushed berries from the plants the white dragons picked. I wonder how much that cost.

It's all holiday spirit. Great feasts, big announcements, wild games, a ton of chattering, and the best, the tree and wreath. The tree towers over everybody. It's so big...at least 100 dragons can be stacked on top of each other, and still not be able to reach the top! Everybody goes in the high spirits, decorating the tree with beautiful leaves they had preserved and other great finds. Since we have a tradition, everybody added one of their own scales/feathers or such to the tree. Bad luck is said to come to those who don't add one of their own glimmering scales to the tree.

The wreath is equally huge and is adorned with bird feathers and more. It's as beautiful and elegant as the tree. Shining, beautiful, and full of holiday fun.

Dear Journal,

My name is Phantom's Paper Airplane and I'm a paper dragon. This is the first of many entries in my brand new journal which was given to me by my master, Phantom (since she was tired of me writing poems, haikus and drawings on my hide tongue.gif) It is nearly Christmas and the festivities have already begun. Many of the dragons in my clan have dressed up for the holidays (my personal favorite is the horse dragon herd, who have dyed themselves white and red biggrin.gif) I may not have a costume, but in honor of the holidays I wear a so-called "Santa Hat" on my head.

Guardian of the Aura, a Guardian dragon of great respect, and his mate, Phantom's Lucky Star (a bright pink dragon) have set up decorations all around the cave. Hundreds of stockings hang on the walls, awaiting Santa Claus to fill them up with toys and candy. Lights hang outside, shining brightly even in the harshest weather. A tree was selected from the forest and brought to the cave to be decorated with ornaments, tinsel, lights and candy canes. Phantom's Thuwed Frost, an ice dragon, even though he was cold-hearted at times, did the honor of putting on the star on top of the tree. A shame that cameras aren't invented yet....

Silver Tiger Striped, a white striped dragon, who also has a journal (even though he hasn't touched it in years...) entertains the only hatchling, another horse dragon, by reading it stories of holiday cheer.

Well, Phantom has called for me to do some record keeping, since I was declared the clan's record keeper and head scribe.

Happy Holidays! <3

**Queen Hestia's Journal - Day Three**

Arcangelo took me to Glover Point and we watched the Moonstone Dragons fly off to Karzarand; the warm side of the planet. They'll be migrated for about 3 months. I wish I could see what it's like there. I'd love to meet a Moonstone some day too. Well we found out the gender of ANOTHER newborn. It's a girl, and she is Queen Selene. Obviously she's a girl. She's the Autumn Dragon. She matches the leaves. She's beautiful. Well, I'm off to Glover Point. The Moonstone's are about to leave!

**Queen Hestia's Journal - Day Four**

The Moonstone's are gone. And one of them became a adult! It was really pretty. I caught fish for myself tonight. I'm going to camp up on Mount Olympus tonight, and I found a great cave with a beautiful view. I can't wait to go there!

I have a new sister! Yes, the gender has been found for my Dorsal sister. Obviously, she's a girl. No information on Orpheus yet, but I'll write something about him when we can determine his gender.

Also, I've been told that there is a new breed of Dragons! The Ribbon Dancer breed. I'd love to see what I loos like. I'm going to track it down. Mother Dragon told me that it was near Glympus; near Hanover Forest. I love the environment of Glympus. My Forefather's were born there. I guess I get heredity from liking it from them.

My Mother and Father are going to the Southwest side of the country with my siblings for Vacation, and I decided I would love to stay and explore my surroundings. I've only been to Mount Olympus once; when I was 4. And I cannot wait to go back.

Well, that's all for today. Guess I'll write tomorrow!

Oh well, I guess I'll find out some other day.

My other siblings grew there wings, and we got the genders! 1 Girl and 2 Boys.

The Journal of Etarius

Dear Journal,

Today is the Day where I hatched, into this strange new world. When I blinked awake I was greeted by the sounds of one who was grieving. I turned, shook my egg pieces away and stared at who was soon to be my guardian.

The girl turned, red-eyed, to face me, revealing behind her a dead, split egg. The shell was almost transparent, and I could see the dead dragon inside of it. I waddled cautiously towards her, wondering if I should go close, when she suddenly picked me up and hugged me close, sobbing.

And such, on the first day of my life, I discovered death, and pain.

Day 2

Dear Journal,

"Will you be Etarius, or Etacarina?" the girl wonders as she brings me my food. "Boy, or girl?"

I wonder that, too.

Day 3

Dear Journal,

Today Candy brought in more eggs. One was a strange, dinosaur-ish egg, and rocked around sometimes. Another was water-blue and the last was bright red.

"They'll be your new little brothers and sisters one day!" she says with excitement. "Aren't you excited?"

Hmmm... I'm not sure about that. As long as they don't hurt me, I'm fine with them, I guess.

Day 4

Dear Journal,

I grew a little bit more today! I found a pair of wings coming out of my back this morning.

What's more, Candy got my gender details -- I'm a boy! So my name now is Etarius, thank you very much.

Dear Journal,

My name that my owner calls me is Memi, anyhow I was the last to hatch of four hatchlings. The adults new better than to tell me that i was supposed to be transported as a gift to other users but word got around. The other hatchlings told me what happend Kiera tried to keep me protected like a older sister but she was just a baby herself and I found out. I was supposed to be a gift not because I was unwanted... or that I was taking space no way. Anyhow I was turned down over and over and you know how most people give up after the first few tries and abandon the egg well for me it was different I was kept by Tari or so she calls herself and raised as a hatchling. I know I am a common egg right now but Tari says in time I will be rare. And I already am on eof her most prized dragons even though I know we all are. She tells me she loves me and all but I still feel the same way. The other hatchlings are a pink, a yolbuck, and another snowangel like myself exept she was gifted to Tari, I was abandoned. I guess It was Like a Christmas story though being turned down and then getting abandoned. I know the way I wright may be mispelled some and the words arnt right but this is the first time I had tried. I'm only a day old, and the others are about two and a half.

Journal, entry seven

December 25, 2011 at 12:00

'Twas the night before Christmas... but not anymore, the moon is high above our heads... and so is that blue orb, alone.

So alone.

It must be lonely in space, not hearing a single sound other than the sound of your thoughts, but that would imply you could live in space- if you had a space suit, you could maybe live in space, but not without.

It's been months since I last wrote in my journal. Halloween has come and gone, and Christmas has just arrived. Like I said, it's midnight, but Aqua insists it's still 11 PM. I swear her sense of time is beyond repair, but nobody seems to mind it. Some of her friends are worse (not noticing the color of the sky) and she doesn't seem to notice that.

Aqua asked me to come with her to the main cave, to find two of the new eggs. I was excited- she usually only took Mystenbelle, or her mate Oerarech, or even one of her tinsels when the caveleaders were busy, but never me. We just arrived at the cave several minutes before the date change and I've been writing since then.

So, about the dragons... we have four hatchlings, one Yulebuck, Snowfall Thuwed (frozen) one Snow Angel, December Ice (also frozen, Aqua might be regretting that decision) and two Ribbon Dancers, Yrimir and Butterfly Tea, the latter of which is frozen. We have two eggs, a Snow Angel and a Yulebuck.

Still no Hollies.

Aqua just picked up the last egg, so I'll have to stop writing. It's been so long, I'll probably write again in March or something, LOL. Who knows when I'll write again?

Once again, till next time,

-Space

---

Mystenbelle has been writing her thoughts in journals now too, it seems! She wrote in it while I was away visiting my friends at CPA. Here is her first journal entry...

---

While reading the journal, you notice that parts of it are sparkling- in fact, too brightly for you to read.

--------------------

Aquamarine has been encouraging me to keep track of the dragons more, so this is my first "journal." I heard about it from one of the hatchlings. Apparently Space has been writing down her thoughts in a book, showing it to the hatchlings, and telling stories of lights in the sky.

It's Christmas Eve, and this means many new hatchlings and eggs. The trio of Red dragons were tired almost immediately after the breeding season began, and there is nothing we can do to make them hatch sooner. However, several of them were frozen already, so the list is small...

Current nursery population:

One Snow Angel egg

Time: 6 days and 16 hours till death.

Egg Laid on: Dec 24, 2011

One Yulebuck egg

Code: ~*`*~

Time: 5 days till death.

Egg Laid on: Dec 22, 2011

One Ribbon Dancer hatchling

Journal, entry eight -

Nothing terribly special's been happening lately, but I felt I should write. Aqua was full of happiness the past couple of days but she just sat in front of her desk and started stabbing one of her journals with a pen a few minutes ago, and then I came in here to write. I worry about her sometimes.

She seems to be a lot calmer now, so that's good.

On the status of the cave: the nursery is a bit crowded. Maybe not super crowded but it seems like there's more things there than usual (Mostly eggs.)

Also, three of these eggs I haven't seen before. One has the texture of the pages I'm writing on. Another glows in the dark, and there's a hatchling that looks just like it. The third has yellow stripes on it.

They're pretty cool.

Dear diary:

I have a name! The three Black hatchlings don't, which I find amusing. Although, two of them are supposedly "alts", whatever that might mean. They do look different from the other one though. Are they supposed to be special, or some such thing? They can't be any more rare than me, can they? Not that I really care about them, though. I'm the most important member of the clan in the cave right now!

Dear diary:

Everybody seems to be gendering female at the moment. Not that I'm complaining, but it would be nice to have a male to mate with. It's probably because we're a fairly new clan, and are just getting started out. Still annoying though. There are two eggs which look promising. I've marked out of them out, and if it hatches male, then he shall be my mate! No other female shall have him. Ever!
