Naming, after parents.

Recommended Posts

I'd love it if someone continued my naming themes. So far my dragons have only managed to breed one egg at a time though so I've only ever dropped two eggs - a bluna and a vampire.

I do love it when I pick up an egg and I can continue with someones naming theme though. I'll nearly always keep an AP egg if I can do that and I'll always try and find a mate for them so I can continue on with the line. I love it when they are named using different languages too - I just hope I don't mangle things too much when I name them *grin*

Along with a couple of Dorkfaces and Thuweds, I currently have:

- A striped dragon called Snowy Winston who is descended from Cosimo Medici Winston and Shannon Sunny Winston.

- A black dragon called Penumbra de la Noche who is descended from Espada de la noche and Chuchilla. She's just had a child called Sombra.

- A skywing called Wings of Gossamer Radian who is descended from Tiara and Orian Radian. She's just had child too.

- A stone dragon called Pyrite Goldfire, he is descended from Lion Goldfire and Violet Lavender. He's from a line of golds so I thought pyrite was quite an apt name for him smile.gif Unfortunately I don't have a gold to pair him with, but I'm sure he'll be very happy with another stone.

- A fire dragon called Vatroslava who is descended from Ivanka and Radoslav. From looking at the owners scroll it seems she gives all her dragons croatian names so I tried to follow that too. If the webpage I looked at isn't telling me fibs the meaning of Vatroslava is supposed to relate to flames/fire.

- A pygmy called Lil' Tiny Rain whos grandparents are Oliver Rain and Olivia Rain and parents are Tiny Light and Tiny Dreamdancer.

- A geode called Strangely Mutated Iggy who is descended from two greens called Poison Iggy and Green Iggy.

I'm always looking for more too - so if anyone needs a good home for their dragons, I'll be more than happy to take one if/when I'm not locked.

I have one dragon that has 25 living children (Scales of Amethyst) and at least 5 of them are named in some way after her or the father.

I used to do that a lot myself! Now I name them after their codes.

I've never done that cos my codes always fail... but I've been keeping track of really good codes I see on other people's dragons.

Man, you guys are lucky! I've only bred a couple of eggs that didn't stay on my scroll, and one of them has a random name and the other one has no name, only a code.

I have nearly 300 dragons so it may take me months to notice if someone has made a naming scheme using the names of the parent dragons that I have. I did notice someone combined the names of my two-headed dragons and thought it was kind of funny.

Zwei-Leitung x Twee-Geleid = offspring called Zwei Geleid

I also will do combined names if I can think of something cool using parent names, though ideas don't always come to me.

Examples;

Pink Elegance Mhuul x Yang high Energy Mhuul = Highly Pink

Minnie Dew x Vepex = Dewpex

Where Late the Sweet Birds Sang x The Left Hand of Darkness = Sweet Birds of Darkness

My white female dragon is named after grandparents and one parent. The other parent is nameless.

Viceroy's Vala x Viceroy's Vayu + Ahn'Lilium = Ahn'Valayu

3 skywing males all mine (names are in latin)

Grandfather (CB): Caelum Draconis (Sky Dragon)

Father (bred): Draco Caelum (Sky Dragon although without the NIS so me no have to put the 2nd)

Son (bred): Caelum Draco Tertium (tertium means the third)

If I continue getting males it'll continue (females will get new name starting new name lineage)

When I started I used silly names. And I didn't care if they were inbred.

Now I'm hooked on low and/or even gens, some I breed from AP catches others from CBs I caught. The CBs I now name after their codes. Everything that follows will get names after their parents, if at all possible.

But I also have some projects going, so the naming there is different.

Examples on my scroll:

http://dragcave.net/lineage/nPHs the green is from the AP, the CB pink named after the code (and yes, I made a gender mistake with the pink...)

http://dragcave.net/lineage/c4nh found on the AP

http://dragcave.net/lineage/SeHH the two white 2nd gens and the pink 3rd gen found on the AP

http://dragcave.net/lineage/7LIL named after the father and grandfather

http://dragcave.net/lineage/K0Xt not much choice here...

http://dragcave.net/lineage/D85j found on the AP

http://dragcave.net/lineage/rp8S love this one, found on the AP

http://dragcave.net/lineage/AJn8 both 2nd gens found on the AP

http://dragcave.net/lineage/63to looks like a spelling mistake :-)

http://dragcave.net/lineage/9tB4 found on the AP, thinking up a project for this with whites and valentines maybe?

I have many more 2nd gens like that, I collect whites from CB white and metal or valentine or Christmas, you get the picture...

And one of my dog forum friends whom I introduced to dragoncave is continuing my ideas for naming. These two of hers:

http://dragcave.net/lineage/aicg She found this one on the AP and just had to name it like that, several siblings are also named after the theme

http://dragcave.net/lineage/hFV1 here she just stopped the naming scheme for the vamp. The 3rd gen red, vine and autumn and the 2nd gen winter she got from the AP, just the two purple CBs are hers. Unfortunately it's sibling that went on the AP died. sad.gif

I don't normally since I have my own naming schemes for my scroll, but I do occasionally make exceptions (although I'm more likely to integrate something further back in its lineage than the parents.)

I made exceptions for both my Yulebucks, here and here.

Perhaps the most obviously named are my two Horses.

Rosa Flit x Nightmare Whip = Rosa Whip

and the funy one:

Go Right to the Source x And Ask the Horse = The Famous Mister Ed

I've had someone take my dragon's last name for their dragon. Really confused me when I saw it because I hadn't kept the dragon from that pair's breeding.

I have a pair named I am a Rock and Like a Rock (Geode breeding pair) I've kept all of their children so far having their names also be song titles with rock it it. But once they had twins so someone name their's to fit in with their parents' names, made me smile because they totally got it.

I just found out that one of my dragons child is named after both its parents. I was really happy to see that. ^^

I haven't ever really combined the parents name, but I did name my green dragon Tabetha Tawarwaith, which the last name came from the parents. I thought it was an awesome last name, so I carried the legacy. I also happened to notice every dragon on my green's parents' scroll are all named Tawarwaith, so I think I did something right. laugh.gif

yea it's actually funny... I gave a water walker my fiance's name backwards and someone grabbed the bred egg and named it after him even though he had no idea what it meant ... I was lol when i saw it , since the thought of someone somewhere out there, has a dragon named after my fiance , without having a clue is hillarious... Loved the look at my fiance's face when i showed him that tongue.gif

I couldn't decide what to name my male Purple, and his mother was called Astral Bardwing. So I took a look through his lineage and saw a dragon called Lavender Orchid. He's now called Heliotrope Bardwing =D

Well, there was this Red Dragon that I picked up from the AP one day. I have a thing about naming my dragons after names of songs from various Batman scores (music); so I named this one "Watch the World Burn."

Then later, I happened to look at its lineage and saw that its mother was named, "Flames Flamboyant."

Later, I noticed that one of my dragon's kids had been named, "Deadly Fire Breath of Death."

Whoo! The burning theme continues.

I Haven't Had This Happen With Any Of Mine I Don't Think But It Is Pretty Neat When It Does ^^ My White Stripe Has The Surname Ici'Fira Or Something Similar To That All Through Its Lineage So I Figured I'd Give Her The Same To Keep It Going o.O I Dunno If It's Someones Lineage Project Or Anything I Just Thought It'd Be Neat To Keep The Name Going For Her Lineage

Got Another Aside From Her Now. In This Case I Own The Father Of The Hatchling, The Mother And The Mothers Parents ^^ I've Tried To Keep The Lineage Names Going In Some Way Or Another Because I Thought They Were Pretty Interesting:

Hatchling Lineage

I Love The Black/Metalic Lineages <3 ^^

I have too many dragons to go through them but I used to use the surname Verre for my dragons. I've seen quite a few of the offspring with the Verre name used and it always makes me smile. :]

And I like to use the parents names to name dragons when I can/like the names.
