Jacus laughed, "I told you a story of being with my father... so no I didn't sink him. Our Navy ship intercepted my father's we boarded and lost. He respected us for being able to catch him so he offered to escort us back to harbor alive. To make sure the Navy didn't pull anything, he kept me and 2 others on his ship. There I found out he was my dad, so I decided to join him. That's when my real life started."

"Oh! Well at least you knew your dad for a little while. That's good. So what happened to the other two? Was he surprised to find out you were his son?" She asked, curious to know more about her..... friend. The term was still new to her, and was foreign on her tongue, but it sounded nice.

"Well, he thought I was too old to be his son, but he remembered my mother and the town I was born in. The other two were let go... The navy removed the bounty of him as long as he avoided their area of control. So we went south where it was warmer, felt like a vacation all the time, at the same time working as mercenaries."

"You're more then welcome to," Tyne responded softly, his gaze flickering over to her. "...So how has your week been?" he asked after a moment of silence. "Anything new happen?" He ate while he waited for her to respond, though he really didn't have much of an appetite currently. He wasn't sure why, but he felt uneasy. ...It might have been the fact he hadn't been getting much sleep though. Actually, that probably was the problem. He'd have to do something about that, though he wasn't sure what exactly.

"Really? I've been in the tropics, it's quite nice there, although it's dangerous with clear water for me... I don't blend in well. You told me you were on vacation... when are you going back?"

------

((Hmm)))

Teyna sighed. "I um met a human too. We bumped heads and then my fin got stuck in the reef, he helped be get out but scraped himself on the coral. You know I don't like bullies, so when a shark came from deep sea, the boy swam back to shore and I hit the shark on the nose. We didn't talk, and it only was a minute or two, but he didn't hurt me.. which baffled me..... I got chased by sirens again....oh! Not to long ago I found a piece of somebody's fin in the reef, it looked like it really hurt..."

((Was debating whether or not to say she met up with mage's character, it seemed right to me.))

"Well... I sorta on vacation for as long as I don't have a job... you see I passed the commander of our little three ship fleet to a trusted friend. I guess you could call it semi-retirement. Pirating and being a mercenary have started to lose their thrill... and treasure has lost it's luster. I got gold to spend, so I'm shifting my passions to exploring rather than jobs for money or loot."

"Interesting..." Tyne puffed up his cheeks at the mention of a shark. "They've been getting closer to the shore then they should be. Sirens need to stop influencing them before everyone gets hurt," he grumbled. "And ouch. I almost feel pity for whoever got their fin ripped. ...Almost." He would have maybe felt bad if he knew it was a merperson, but he wasn't quite sure. And he was sort of mad at sirens currently. "...The sirens didn't hurt you, did they? The shark didn't, either?" he asked, his look quickly turning to one of concern. "It's a good thing the human didn't, either way. ...I really don't want to have to track down a two-legged land-dweller just to pick a fight with them. I feel that wouldn't work out well. At all."

"So I guess I didn't have to give you Drez...and explains why you could get the necklace without selling the pearl..." She fingers the necklace lightly. Looking sT it shinning in the dim light. "Ship wrecks are fun to explore, i take shiny things out of them. Anything really... my treasures are behind this shell..I have quite a bit of things I've collected."

----

She shook her head. "The shark swam off after I hit it's nose, the sirens.. cornered me and pulled my hair and slapped me with their tails... the bruises are gone now, but that was all they did. They always bully me Tyne.... I'm so small, and young... and... and weak... so they pick on me... I'm used to it by now..." She looked at her tail sadly. She was shy and timid, Tyne she saw as a big brother instead of a friend. He acted like one, getting all protective like this when she got hurt.

Tyne took on a look he rarely did, his gaze sharpening and a small growl forcing it's way out of his throat. "I might have to have a talk with those sirens. If they're lucky, they might even get to keep their tails," he hissed, almost clenching his fists before he realized that his hand was injured and deciding against it. Instead, he glared into the sea, knowing that it'd be best to calm down before doing pretty much anything. His nails dug into the sand beside him, slowly relaxing as he sort of calmed down. "Picking on anyone who can't defend themselves is the lowest of the low." On second thought, he wasn't all that calm at all, and he was starting to get a bit overprotective again. "I'd just love to see how they fend against me," he growled.

Teyna sighed. "I'm fine Tyne. Just... calm on down okay?" She knew he didn't like to be thought, but she did. She pulled the strands of his hair back and braided it, just the front ha so it didn't get in his eyes and mouth. "I know you're mad, but.. you kinda scare me when you're angry. ... I need to learn how to protect myself. You............ might not always be around to do that for me. Please, let this be okay?" She got done braiding his hair and moved back a little.

Tyne flinched a bit when she came even close to touching him- it was impossible for him to stop that reaction, it seemed- but when she started braiding his hair, he slowly relaxed. Something he didn't let people know usually was that having people brush his hair, braid it, whatever that wasn't painful, actually helped relax him. "...Sorry. ...I can... Teach you, if you want. In a way, I'll continue protecting you." Okay, that sounded a lot better in his head. But it was too late to take that back now. He was pretty sure he didn't make all that much sense, too. "...And thanks for putting up with me." He averted his gaze.

Teyna smiled at him and kissed his cheek in a sisterly way. "I would love it if you can teach me to be strong like you! I'd always put up with you Tyne! You're like a brother to me!" She giggled and swam along the reef and around him delighted that he'd teach her. She was ten instead of 126. She stopped and beamed at him giggling.

Jacus smiled, "I'm sure it's nice, but I think I'll pass looking at it. Being a retired pirate still means I can get greedy at times. Best not to tempt me." He sit back and settles his feet in the water. "What I would live on the sea forever... unfortunately every man must go to harbor... I always considered owning a private island and grow my own food."

Fyre hummed, thinking. "And if I knew one such land? Made from a volcano that went quiet several years ago, the soil is rich and can grow many things. Plenty of fish, wild fruit. Perfect you. And... I wasn't going to show you my treasure you might laugh at me for what I have..."

Tyne smiled back and chuckled, pushing himself off the sandy ocean floor and swimming over to her. "You won't be trained in the same way I was. Trust me, being trained that way isn't all that great at all." He shuddered at the memory. "...Okay, well, what do you know so far? Minus how to punch sharks in the nose. Which doesn't always work on certain sharks. ...Trust me, I've tried." His gaze flickered to his arms, where many small, barely visible scars remained from when he was trained, before moving back to Teyna. "However, it might work on sirens." He smirked darkly, before realizing that he was in the middle of a conversation of sorts and quickly shook his head, ridding himself of those thoughts. "I'm not all that great with using my tail though. No matter how long it is." His tail was about four feet long, not including his fin, which was only about seven inches long at the shortest, and just barely a foot and a half at the longest points. Which ended with him being about eight and a half feet long. ...However, neither his fin or tail were all that flexible.

((His tail is a lot longer then you may think. ...And the longer the tail, the longer the fin in order to allow him to swim. Which also means his scar is actually about a foot long itself.))

Embrye, seeing as there wasn't much else to do in the lighthouse now and his help wasn't needed, decided to head out and watch the sky. And hopefully not get lost, too. So, he headed outside and sat down on a somewhat flat rock, staring up at the sky.

((I felt like I needed to do something with Embrye.))

Teyna nodded and tilted her head to the slide. "Great whites you hit in the nose, hammerheads in the eye, it all else fail, you flip them upside down, they stop moving and go paralyzed.... but that's it. I hang around dolphins, so sharks don't bother me so much, but sirens, and some wolf eels, sea snakes and electric eels don't like me either....I don't know what to do with them..."

-----

(I thought it was long Teyna is supposed to be the shortest at five 5'6". And about the whole 'raised by shark mermaid' it would be a siren, mermaids only have fish tails, it could be a odd one but... (the race description is in the front.) Now I feel like I got to do Engl.))

Engl cleaned the salt from the glass once more, polishing the mirrors and lightning the lamp. She sat and looked out at the sea, the sun was still high, about three o'clock she guessed. She flushed once more remembering what happened. Her first kiss was with a merman. Goodness gracious, if the town girls found out.....

((That's fine with me, his past will just make more sense then. Not that his past will probably ever be revealed, but his caretaker was killed when she was 'mistaken' for a siren. After he threw a fit and left the cave.

Well, as long as that's okay with you, that is. (A lot will actually end up making more sense if it is okay with you.)))

"You punch them all in the face," Tyne deadpanned. "...Okay, actually, I don't think that'd work all that well with eels or sea snakes. Will possibly work on sirens. With sea snakes, if you can figure out a way to keep them underwater for long enough without getting bit, then they'll probably end up drowning. If they do bite you, they usually don't use much venom, but..." He shrugged. "Electric eels are pretty much the same way; They surface every ten minutes or so. But their electricity is something to look out for. You'll have to tire them out before it's safe to even go near. But that takes at least an hour usually. ...Swimming away as fast as possible is probably better, unless you have something long, sharp, and can throw it at them and hit." He paused. "Wolf eels, avoid their mouths. They have some powerful jaws. But if you can avoid their mouth... Some say they taste good. I'm not touching them though. They have 'eel' in their name, and that's a big nope from me." He shuddered at the thought. "As for sirens, punch them in the face, stomach, wherever is soft and will hurt. Pulling on their fin or twisting it will hurt too. If you can rip their fin at all, it'll hurt terribly and they'll probably retreat."

((Yeah its fine with me. ))

Teyna listened carefully, hanging on to every word. She nodded when he was finished. She shivered when he mentioned ripping the fin. Nema's fins came in to mind, the thought of doing that would be painful for her to even think about doing. "Alright I'll try. Um.... are you going to see the human again today? I'd like to watch from a distance...."

((Her and Embrye need to see each other at least.))

"Might as well check if she'll be there. If not, the other might. Either way, we can go see. Follow me." He noted her reaction to the mention of fins being ripped for later use before swimming towards the lighthouse at a moderate speed, stopping to make sure Teyna was following every now and then. He'd rather not get her lost again, after all.

((I'm sorry I don't know what else to put currently for him.))

Embrye watched the clouds pass, until he noticed something shine underneath the water, if only for a moment. His attention now caught, he turned to face where he saw it, watching the waves for any sign that something was there.

Engl went to check on the cat. She gave it fish and milk and played for a little before heading to the dock again.

--

((Same with Engl..))

Teyna followed closely, carefully keeping him in her sight. When they neared the lighthouse she slowed, cautious eyeing the surface which was now so close. She was glad her hair and scales where blue, blending in to the water, although in the shadows she was the color of the sky at a pink sunset, and she was hard not to miss.

Tyne cast a cautious glance behind him at Teyna before swimming to the somewhat concealed dock, surfacing after a moment. Talking with the younger mermaid had reminded him that he still should be a bit wary around these humans, though he probably would end up forgetting all about that. "Hey," he greeted quietly with a distant gaze, before noticing the man on the rocks. "Eeembryyye," he called out lazily, watching as the human's attention quickly snapped to him. He then watched as the man proceed to nearly trip twice, actually trip once, and then stop a fair distance away. He blinked, wondering why the merman called him. "Yes?" he asked, tilting his head. "I don't know a thing about you so come join us." Embrye blinked again, sort of questioning Tyne's logic, before sitting on the side of the dock cross-legged. He watched the water, a bit confused as to why he was called there, but deciding not to question it anymore.

Teyna came up beside Tyne looking at the human. She watched him carefully with dark lilac eyes. She remained quiet and watched the interaction.

----

Engl came down and saw Tyne and grinned. "Hey am I interrupting something?" She sat down be Embrye. "Oh hi.. is this your friend?"

((Can't think... sorry!))

(('Tis fine, I had to sleep, so I couldn't reply.))

"Hey again. And yes, this is my friend," he responded with a look that rather clearly said 'if you hurt her I will not hesitate to drown you'. Embrye smiled brightly. "Hello! I'm Embrye!" he cheerfully greeted, ignoring Tyne's warning for now. Or, at least, deciding not to worry about that for now. The merman stared at the male for a moment before turning to Engl, who he found much more interesting then Embrye right now. "Oh, and you aren't interrupting anything at all. Was actually hoping to see you again. After all-" He cut himself off, deciding that he probably shouldn't say things like that when others were around. Especially considering that he wasn't actually all that much of a flirt usually. Just an over dramatic, childish, somewhat lazy merman. "Er, never mind," he mumbled, shaking his head.

Teyna studied Embrye carefully before speaking. "I'm Teyna. " She couldn't help it, the man's smile was infectious, so she gave him a small shy smile in return accompanied with a little wave.

Engl lay flat on her belly so she was eye level with the merpeople. She felt strangely bold, and daring, like she was on one of her escapades under water. "Good! I like it when I see you. Now who did your hair all macho like? You look better with it back, you can actually see your eyes now instead of hair. You used to look like a handsome sheepdog, now you look like a proper merman. " She reached out and tapped his nose lightly. "Now be a good gentlefish and introduce me to your friend. It's only proper." She playfully scolded him smiling widely.

Embrye's smile grew even brighter, if that was possible, when the mermaid smiled back. "It's nice to meet you, Teyna!" he responded cheerfully.

Tyne smirked. "Oh? If I can get a reaction like this out of you, I'll have to get my hair done like this more often," he purred. "To answer your question, however, Engl," he continued, enjoying how her name rolled off his tongue, "this is Teyna. Teyna, this is Engl. ...Teyna was the one who did my hair." His smirk stayed the whole time, his eyes holding a dangerous glint in them now. People or no people, if she was going to suddenly act that bold, he had no choice but to respond. He didn't remove his gaze from the female, minus a quick glance over at Teyna when he introduced her to the human. And even then, it barely lasted a second.
