Miss. Adams held up a finger. "One moment dear... " She added something and put her quill away and looked up to see Embrye holding a shivering Teyna. "Oh! Dear me! Quickly child get her to the spare room upstairs, I'll be up with some of my old clothes... oh... of I can find them in this mess." She waved him off and scurried about, hurrying in a room. Rustling and a crash was herd. "I'm alright..." more rustling "there's that quill! Oh, that skirt would have to do.. hmm... blouse... I need a blouse.." She mutters.

Teyna had started shivering as soon as the breeze touched her still damp skin. She curled up against him teeth chattering in the cold.

((No... he's not))

Engl turned away from him. "Don't." Her voice was barely above a whisper. She understood what it was like to find someone you love dead. She watched her father waste away from sickness. She got up slowly, her back to him. "I...... better go... " She she walked down the dock and up the rock carved steps in the cliff, slipping and falling down some laying there for a moment before getting back up and walking up them. She held it in until she got in the house to start crying, the sobbing uncontrollably kind. Him saying that made her heart break all over again, relive the time nine years ago when her father passed away. She hadn't touched his room and still was grieving for him, but the thought of losing Tyne too was far to much to bear.

She did what she normally would do; ran to her dad's favorite armchair by the fireplace and cried at the armrest, talking bubberly to nothing, but speaking as if he was there. "I don't know what to d-do daddy!..." She hiccups and sniffed as she tried to think of what he might say to her.... it didn't work very well...

Jacus just smiled and listen to her rant. When she addressed him and asked to sing, he nodded, "Certainly! What did you have in mind? I'm not familiar with songs to ward of monsters though," He laughed jokingly.

In the middle of the song the water erupted and claws gripped the boat holding it in place. A head like a Chinese Dragon with frills ringing it's head and horns that where a teal blue and shaped like a bident, came out of the water. It's body sleek and black, streaked with grey, teeth swings forward, thick slimy and black with pink gums. A forked tongue slid out, light blue in the back, the color like fire. It hissed, frill spreading, florescent blue eyes glowing and looking at the wheelhouse. "Who are you? You trespass on my sea!" It's voice is a hissing rasp, like a snake that lured to talk.

((I'm sorry.))

Embrye nodded at Ms. Adams, before quickly heading up the stairs. Noticing Teyna's shiver, he held her as close as he dared, trying to help keep her warm, as they ascended. He gently placed her on the bed. "I'll be just outside," he told her, before quickly leaving the room and stopping a bit down the hall, so that he wasn't standing in front of the door. He sat down cross-legged and waited patiently for Ms. Adams to help Teyna.

"...Note to self: Shut up sometimes. No, seriously, shut up. Also, another note: Avoid talking to Engl about subjects that you avoid around Teyna," Tyne muttered, somehow managing to control his desire to punch something. Or someone. Or whatever. Well, he really messed up this time, didn't he? He did this every time though. Always messing something up. ...Though, messing something up with someone he lo- ... Liked a lot was something new. And yes, he was currently refusing to think 'loved'. He wasn't exactly sure why, but it just seemed weird. Weirder then falling in love with a human, that is. "Well, let's go talk to ourselves. Like normal." He dove underwater, only to stop, stare at a rock, and then proceed to punch it. ...And then recoil, biting back multiple curses, because that was a terrible idea and his hand hurt. Why did he even bother doing that anyways? It was pretty hard to break a rock of that size, and he was a merman, not some overly-strong guy. He retreated into a small nook in the rocks, then began arguing with himself. Mentally. He wasn't joking when he said that he was going to talk to himself. But talking to himself tended to end up with him arguing with himself over pointless things.

Jacus looked up with concern at the sea monster, "uh... uh... we mean no disrespect, we are simply traveling through to waters around Scotland. We were unaware of your territory." Jacus began to shake nervously knowing that the monster could capsize the boat just by adding more weight.

((I'LL do Fyre first))

"We? I only see you! He hissed glaring at the sailor until a fish hit his snout and he snarled looking in the direction it came from and froze. Fyre was on her tail like a snake looking very angry. She shook her finger at the monster. "Don't you go threatening him! He's under my protection! He saved my life! This is no way to repay a brave sailor who saved your little girl daddy!" She huffed hands on her hips. The sea monster's crest fell and he loosened his grip on the boat as he hissed something that sounds like a laugh. "There's My little SpitFyre! If you trust this man I'll let him pass, but he must tell me how the both of you met, and how he saved you... and you young lady, will be telling me about your new home..." He growls like it isn't a option then sank in the water so his head only breached the surface letting go of the boat. "Jacus, this is Ancon my daddy...Daddy, this is captain Jacus Von fang.... Jacus, if you tie a rope to daddy's horn we'll get there faster."

-------

Miss. Adams ran up and into the room. She helped the girl dress and was shocked to hear she couldn't walk well. She called Embrye in and had him carry her to the little dinning area to eat. She asked for the story and Teyna skillfully crafted a slightly more detailed version then the one she had planned with the explorer. It was still vague, but the woman didn't ask any questions about the ship that sank or the crew. She nodded and then scurried off to get them food. Teyna looked at Embrye still shivering. "The sea is quite warm compared to the air... " She whispered.

Engl sat there for a long while before heading to the top and did her routine. Board, she started reading her father's journal... then found something interesting. A letter hidden in the binding of the book, with her name on it. Curious she read it, then decided to go on a tresure hunt in the morning...

Jacus just blinked in surprise. "Oh... um... Pleased to make you acquaintance... Mr. Ancon. Respectfully, I would like to decline that offer and let YOU tie the rope to his horn. Beyond that, I would be happy to tell you everything you want to know since I know my life depends on it." He was in a nervous chuckle as he couldn't look away from the massive sea serpent.

The sea serpent shook his head and went under, scratching the hull in spots before fitting it between his shoulders and moving to a beach with black and white sand streaking out of the tree line. The island was lush with trees and grass, a freshwater stream, fruit and a few crabs was sunning themselves, until her father's fire tongue snapped them into his mouth. He rested the boat on a sand bar and pulled himself up on the beach his back end still in the water.

He was long, with a frill down his neck, spitting at his shoulders then starting up again just below the blades. The fin could be raised or lowered, and now it rested with the times going in a zigzag pattern down his back and neck. A small frill when from each wrist to his below his elbow, these started above it and went to his shoulder blades. These fins couldn't be adjusted. His legs are a little taller then Fyre, but as thick as tree stumps, with four front falcon like toes with twisted black claws on them, and a back toe with a longer claw for gripping things.

He plucked Fyre out of the boat and set her in the river, and did the same to the sailor, setting Jacus on a warm rock to sit on. The monster then eyed him closely as if studying him before settling down on the beach waving a claw to hear his story.

Embrye followed Ms. Adams quietly, placing Teyna down carefully once they entered the dining area. He remained quiet unless his input was needed, though his smile remained, like normal. As soon as Teyna spoke to him, though, after Ms. Adams left the room, his smile vanished, concern visible on his features. "Really? I always thought the sea was cold. ...It might be because you're still a bit wet though." He moved a bit closer and gently placed his hand on her cheek, frowning. "...Hmm. You definitely feel cold," he muttered, withdrawing his hand after a few seconds. "I'll ask Miss Adams if she has anything that can help. Um... As long as you're okay with that, that is," he said.

((And I'm out for Engl...))

"Its probably because I'm so used to the water... but yes.. I wouldn't mind. I'm not liking this shivering. But there is one problem.. my hair is still blue, how am I going to explain that?" She asked as a banging sound came from the little kitchen as miss. Adams made hot oatmeal and got out the biscuits she bought. The woman was forgetful, and Embrye helped her with simple things, like reminding her to eat or sleep, or helping her find her quill (which was more often behind her ear then anywhere else) as well as helping her with her work.

Jacus froze in fear as he was picked up by the large beast, knowing his life was of little concern to Ancon and that Jacus wouldn't be able to fight him off. He sat down and watched the monster stare at him, "Uh... well... I guess it started when your daughter escorted my ship into port, and I thought she was going to ram my into a rock, but I apologized when she didn't and found out she was kinder than other sirens..." He continued his story, explaining them meeting, when he saved her from hunters in a barrel, and when he saved her from a siren, and then when she saved him from drowning.

Ancon listened carefully to him looking at Fyre and Jacus, until he heard the ship's name, the Red Sea II. He threw his head back and roared it shook fruit from the trees and many birds fled. His tail lifted and smacked the sea in a spray of water and sand. "An evil twist of fate! Wretched son of that horrible captain! To lose my wife and almost lose my daughter to the same bloodline!!" He lunged at a tree splintering it in his jaws ripping it from the roots, and he hissed as the tree withers from his poison and he drops it breathing heavily trying to calm down. He dipped his head so he was eye level with Jacus. "I see why she trusts you Jacus. You helped her... I am ever so grateful for this. I have lost my wife tragically.... I'm glad you were there to help my darling SpitFyre when she needed it. You are most welcome to live here kind sailor." He looked at Fyre and said something in a different language, and made her go as red as her hair as she tried to correct him but he just chuckled.

Jacus shook as Ancon went in his rage, but relaxed, still slightly afraid as he went eye to eye with the great serpent, "Thank you... I will take you up on that offer, though I would like to visit the mainland before settling down here. Your daughter makes a wonderful guide, I just wish she wasn't cursed with hypnotic singing... her voice is very beautiful."

Ancon nodded. "Interesting, you say cursed. If she was a mermaid who can have legs after being in fresh water...... would you consider being my daughter's mate?" "THATS IT! I'm done! I have no idea why I even wanted to see you again daddy... I'm going upstream..." She swam out of sight as Ancon started laughing his hissing laugh. "I had to ask, my girl is a adult now and left for that very reason. The main land is three hours away for you, but though fog cast on this island for protection against unwanted men. I will pull you to the cove I sleep in, it would take a hour tops for that trip time. What do you say about that?

Jacus watched as Fyre swam away, "...I say wait for me to talk to Fyre... I would like her to come along, and it's not fair to her to leave her here while you swim me away. I'll be right back." With that he began to jog upstream looking for her, "Fyre? You okay Fyre?"

"I'm fine, just... my father embarrassed me. " She was in a small pool that was in a series of pools that flow into each other, toying with her tail, seeing the uneven fin, cheeks still colored like her hair.

"No need to get embarrassed, to me, he's a scary giant monster, to you, he's your dad and you love him. Dads always mess with their kids, no matter how old they are. When I was 12, my dad tried to get me to sleep with a bar maid. The maid and I drank so much we simply passed out before anything odd happened." He laughed trying to lighten the mood.

Fyre looked at him startled. "Your father tried to make you sleep with someone? Sounds like my mom.... dad ate the guy though before I could "practice" seducing him. She was very set on me having little sirens to save our kind. Dad... being a dad... wasn't to happy with that idea." She huffed, then cracked a small smile. "He did help me out b taking me hunting with him... my mom.. was my mom but, wasn't the best. Hang on, you can't join the navy when your twelve and you said you didn't know your dad until he captured the ship you were on... how could he do that to you if you didn't know who he was?"

Jacus blinked at her, "I join the Navy at ten as a cabin boy. Mop the decks, clean the ship, that crap. When I was twelve, I was made first mate in the Navy, that same year was when we ran into my father and his crew."

Fyre still looked sceptical. "In all my years I have never heard of a boy in charge of men on a ship. Their options must have been slim for that to happen..." A blow to his ego, but he needed one, and it seemed to cheer her up a little more.

Jacus huffs, "Not my fault being First Mate in the Navy meant absolutely nothing... regardless. The Navy was just a gateway into my real destiny at sea." He sat down next to her, "Now, shall we head off to Scotland before your father arranges a wedding with flounders for flowers and cod for cake?"

At the mention of wedding, she shot down stream like a bullet out of a gun. "I'm going...." was all he could hear as she left the river. She was by the boat when he came back.

Jacus made the trip back to the boat and looked up to Ancon, "We are ready for your escort to the mainland sir, with Fyre as my guide when we hit shallow waters." He got in the boat and strapped everything down again.
